Apologies, but DA seems to be down at the moment... so had to upload this elsewhere in the meantime. It's cropped cause I don't want to spoil the coloring effect I'm going for... hope you like it.

Umm okay it's not that easy... but I'll see what I can do.
  5. Whoops my bad, I didn't find your reference chart until I was half way done sketching... so I had to finish this first. But tomorrow, I'll try another with a Liam Neeson likeness... hope you like it.

    Drawing request

No he's asking if you can do his homework better than he can... cause if you can't he won't use it... okay.
  7. Ooo I gotta get in on this... "LJ" is easy to do... art trade coming at ya!

    Ultimo Girl!

Got an odd reply from someone in my DA account today, "looks like someone's having fun"... my response when I don't recognize a name is usually to check out their own DA page...

Should have known it was from another COHer... well there was a challenge on her front page to draw one of her toons, and feeling a little bit better today, I decided to go for it as a warm up for my upcoming Kilo piece.

A little rushed, but over all I had fun.

  9. If you can afford the $52 to download the basic version ($69 for the deluxe) I recommend Open Canvas, which has many of Photoshop's abilities, streamlined for comic artwork.

Haven't been able to do much lately, but this took only 40 minutes once I put all thought out of my head, wait did the Demerol do that? Maybe I'm "Alex" from Heroes... lol j/k, anyway I guess over thinking this made me fed up with my initial sketch, and this came out as a quick second attempt.

    Hope you like it MK?

    Meet Cybergator!

very nice... make a great illustration...
  13. What I love is the almost "Avengers" style look to it since we agreed there would be no SG costume... we rock! And so does Kevin & Doug!

And I was pleasantly surprised today with a free sketch from Baquitania. A very nice way to start the day.

You can call me Bobby or LJ which is easier to type and I still know you mean me despite the gender switch. Here's another go at your toon, I'm feeling creative today, since I'm semi- bed ridden and "have" to sketch...

  15. Wow 6 months with almost nothing to show for it? I would feel huge pangs of guilt bearing down on me...

SMF: I have the exact opposite of your situation. Being the artist, I was given many, exacting details of the final look for a commission. I was promised money before starting, and I thought since this person was part of a group commission going on as well that I could trust them. On good faith I made several sketches trying to get the client to specify what they wanted...

There were two deciding factors they had specified, the style had to have the look of a recent popular movie, and the likeness was of someone in their personal life. SO I combined them in a 1/2 size torso piece, and sent off 3 variations on the color. I thought the likeness was fairly good, and had already sent out a non colored likeness.

For several days there was no answer and then suddenly after several weeks a strange semi apologetic response about "leaving me hanging", and then nothing. When the group commission was done, (and btw he'd requested a separate likeness for that also) I commented to his SG members about where he was, and suddenly he was there... in his defense he liked the final piece a great deal, but there was never again another email on the private piece or acknowledgement that he'd basically gotten 2 pieces free.

In the back of my mind, I was sort of relieved, I did not want to chase the money, that seemed like a headache I didn't need. And while I respect the work I put into it, I'm happier to just move on...

I have since learned to insist upon the 1/2 now, 1/2 later policy, and to specify that nothing gets sketched until an agreement is set in paypal. That sounds kind of harsh, but I'd rather not go through that again... I give out a lot of free art, as it suits my whim, but in this case I thought it was going to lead to a paying commission. At the moment, I prefer to chalk it up to experience and start work on something else...
  16. Okay I've sent out 3 final inclusions for part 8, which now has 9 people... and my apologies to Turbo, I will include the alternate versions of you in CON 5!

Tomorrow I plan to finish this, I only have to draw 4 more people, maybe 5, and then I will write up the final 23 people and post them as I finish. The mock ups are done for parts 6 and 7, just have to write the dialog, and part 8 is half done...

Thanks again to everyone for the support, I'm gonna call it a night!

  17. Thank you... and this was exactly what I didn't want to happen, you're absolutely entitled to your opinion. I just couldn't understand why you felt the strip despite it's in jokes wasn't funny to you.

And I should have chimed in earliar, I didn't mean to imply I was going to stop making these, just that I needed a break, because health wise today (back injury) I am not enjoying sitting up...

As to the parody, the poses are what I use most, but this was never meant to be what if the Peanuts Gang dressed up like COH people. It may seem that way, but I wanted to draw the COH people in "short hand form" without inventing my own, which might not look exactly like them in the end.

I've always felt that Shulz's invention of CB, made drawing regular people instantaneously recognizable. Which is why when I take Charlie Brown, put Juggy's armor and mask on him, it becomes more then just Charlie Brown playing dress up.

And for the record I don't think you're a fool in any way, maybe not my biggest fan, but no one said you have to be.

Anyway I am happy to say I am adding 7 more people, so there will be a part 8 to this to come... so with that said, no more flaming, back to the drawing board, and a very big thank you for all the support from everyone.

  18. watched, and fav'd one too!
  19. The thing is my initial idea for this one was to separate all the toons by archetype, and have "key" members lecturing the others on how to do their jobs. For example Kilo who is a premiere Tanker could easily teach this class online.

But this concept required way more drawing than I have the time for or wanted to attempt... So I scrubbed it.

I had already drawn about 9 random people, all in a line, and I felt that "that" as a graphic could be funny if for instance they were in front of one of those humongous caves, facing 20 mobs, and they were all debating on how to attack, who should be first and what strategy if any to use. I thought that could be really funny, if no one knew until the last frame what they were facing... and I won't reveal the punchline cause I still intend to use a variation of it for this one.

But again, even that concept was not drawing friendly, and I didn't really know all the different archetype attacks. So I made this thread, and I asked people to list their favorite first attack, what it looked like, what their origin and archetype was, and what was their favorite and least favorite mob to face.

From that came this current idea. Lord Recluse would be giving a slide show lecture to his minions on how to face the City of Nuts toons, and they in turn would respond with their input. Originally none of the toons were going to have dialog, but how could I pass up having them say something about themselves.

Buck Nekkid's in my opinion is a strip all on his own, as is Turkey Lurkey's, because graphically I don't have to explain a half naked angel or a turkey dressed up as a superhero.

But if you read that thread, and I initially had this in my DA journal, so I could get responses from some of my other COH friends. I took what they said, added my own, and in some cases like Celtic Bolt's, his gibberish, is actually every 7 or 10th word I could find, in the response he sent to me.

This one is very "in joke" because the concept while broad, would only fill one frame or two after I finished it. To add more to the ongoing "situation", I had to make it personal, include things everyone in this particular forum knows (like Turbo loves her scythe, Kheprera's toon is a goddess and not just a heroine, and that Krar is only 4ft tall)...

I tried drawing most of the response of what people posted, if I didn't draw it, I talked about it or tried to imply it, and while my "[censored]" (g -a-y)take on the Freakshow is extreme, I'm certainly not trying to [censored](ga-y) bash, because to me humor is humor.

This being a fairly adult board, I was a little worried about the sex jokes from CON 3, but was told that it wasn't a big deal. While I would love to use profanity in some of these, sometimes it doesn't really need it, and I didn't want people to think I was a misogynist or sexist...

I could certainly repost each of these with little arrows along the side referring to all the in jokes, but I didn't expect everyone to get them all, unless they kept up with the first thread, the previous CON strips and had met each other in game. For the most part, everyone who's replies has... the "new people" I included this time around were fun to draw, I do feel bad about the people I missed, but my list was already at 47, and asking more people on was already stressing me out.

So I'm sorry you don't find this funny, if I knew what your kind of humor was, I would attempt it, if I knew what your toon was like and you had responded to my earlier thread perhaps you would have not posted what you said.

But I find the purpose of you saying these are in jokes and not funny to be detrimental to me. You took the wind out of my sails with that comment. While not your exact intention, what good does it do to say it that way?

I could do more universal comedy, but it wasn't my goal in this one to do that, surely you could tell after reading the first 4? Or had you? I don't know, maybe you only read the last one... the Marcy joke was there because I thought it was funny to make her like Marcy, and to have Recluse say so. It was never to make this a Charlie Brown parody directly, which I try greatly to avoid despite the obvious.

Today you say it's your own sense of odd humor, and your lack of empathy about other characters, and that you're not playing Devil's Advocate. I don't know, I think I would have preferred a direct insult to what you say is your problem.

I have no reference to "who you are", while you have the freedom to comment openly about something I put a lot of work into... So with that I am forced to leave you out of any attempted in joke strip, and I can't help but feel I should never attempt another...

Well that's my explanation, please let's not turn this thread into a flame war... I'm going to go finish the 2 additional parts I promised to include, and then I think I will take a break.

  20. very nice, I like how he did the torso details and the mist around her...
  21. Part of the humor is based on this thread, where I asked people to respond... other jokes are ongoing, and some are yes "inside' ones between friends.
