Is MB a hero? We haven't been playing hero side for a while since most of our villains a core group of 8-9 are about to hit 40 (36-38 right now)... and Liz and I have a 45, and 41 respectfully... but I think when i11 hits, I will be living on hero side with my new LJ claws scrapper, and a few other alts.
my global is @Lady Judgement, Bill... drop me a line, I can always switch over. -

Are you sketching in illustrator? If you have photoshop, I can point you in a few directions as to how to set up for sketching there

I gave up long ago in sketching in Photoshop, and I love the changeability of lines in Illustrator, plus my inking brushes have some nice subtleties that would take me hours conventionally.
However I am not crazy, please please please please baby please show me how to sketch... I wouldst be so happy!

Coolio! While yes many of the people here can do this, it's really nice to look at another point of view. How else do we learn?

I think every photoshop tutorial has covered this:
1) Your lineart is on top, and there's a pull down menu to set it to "multiply", some people use "darken".
2) Everything under that gets it's own layer. I usually have them marked as Skin, Costume, Boots, Gloves, etc... It's when someone designs a costume with 4,000 separate pieces that my brain goes, ouch! Cause many of those will need it's own layer...
You don't have to work that way, but if you make a mistake, it's good insurance that the coloring for something is on it's own layer, it also allows it to be re-colored, or changed somehow without effecting anything else.
3) Under this, and basically I make this layer first, consider it your bottom bun... a layer I label as base or background/color. This serves two purposes, depending on the shade, it keeps your other colors from being too saturated or bright. And also it sets a nice mood for your overall piece.
If I have multiple figures, I make folders, and in them go separate layers for skin, costume, etc... the bottom layer is always the "base". Some make a separate layer under that an call it the background.
I've seen pros set a "trap" layer in CYMK under the lineart to make the blacks richer. Not absolutely sure how to do that since I mostly work in RGB for the web.
But I hope some of that helps. -
Yeah it's my wife's Illustrator CS3 and her Mac, my brain has to process things differently and I just can't seem to draw as easily. I did a close up on paper last night, and I like that better than what I did on her machine.
But your right about the tension, I'm gonna try again. Thanks for the input all...
