BrandX, okay still laughing at that one. That is an example of taking Lore and just perverting it to your own end... which even I would boggle at. In that other game I had a character who was not the race she looked to be and was literally harassed out of the game by lorites stating "your character looks like such therefore it is, like it or not." This in a game where dragons run around disguised as whatever race they want. The community there litterally, sent me enough ingame spam (yes someone posted my bio on a live forum complete with the server I played on) I cancelled my account. This is what I meant by "in the box" thinking. I had a friend recently quit over the same issue, granted her bio was a bit outlandish, but the last person arguing with her tried to argue genetics in a game based on fantasy and magic. Unless you're a "carbon copy" of everyone else in that game, and abide by Lore to the letter, that community will tear you appart.
Here, none of my characters are related to any of the canon, but I have used the alternate worlds round about to create my own unique mythos for a few characters as well as my own space born race. Granted the game lore doesn't support their existance, but it doesn't have to. None of my characters are born from Statesman or have killed anyone (a concept I detest.) They have had their fair share of troubles with both ingame canon and what my SGmates have come up with for our weekly AE entertainment, but none here have come at me like they did my friend and I there. For that this community gets a hug from my collective group of friends ingame and out.
So now that I've done my soapbox I'll admit to some RP traits I "do" detest:
1) God Moding RP [If you're character is perfect then your story is over IMO]
2) Blatant Infringement RP [Uh, unless you really did create it (Sorry again for reporting you Jim) then you shouldn't be playing it] Homages are ok as nods to something you liked, but blatant infringement is bleh.
3) Murder/Suicide RP [Sooooo repetitive it's ridiculous] -
Storydriven RP is my Fave.
((And to those pesky Lorites that drove me from WoW, I dare you to come find me here. The Lore for my character is "MY" Lore. Tell me Stateman or game lore won't support my character and I'll send you right back to your "in-the-box" thinking world.))
As you can tell I detest (Lore of the Game is Law) RP. This game was designed for us to tell our own stories and I love telling and participating in everything this community comes up with. -
Thanks! I'll do that! Lub our communtiy, so helpful. *hugs and cookies all around*

I noticed it went private and I was kicked. Since I was a regular there, but away for a few weeks I need to know who to see to get back on th channel. I was actually around during its inception and find this rather odd. Any information/assistance would greatly be apreciated.

Soooo.... Marvel had Spidey make a deal with the devil (actually Mary Jane) to remove the marriage. To top them DC reboots the universe.... Sorry not paying for more Lois and Clark tension. The build up to the marriage was great and the story has been done in two television shows. For me the Big Two have settled in for pushing the next big movie and resetting the universes to make the movie going public less timid about starting their collections. For the fans that have been with them over the years... It just feels like we are being left out. For me it's time to bid the two universes farewell. I will still support DC's animated projects (Goooo Young Justice!) and Marvel's big Avengers movie momentum, but as for what I grew up collecting... I just remember the upper left corner of Marvel Team-up 150 with Spidey walking into the sunset. I think it's time for me to do that and keep my memories of what was in place.

Woot! Another great vid from the goddess of vids! WTG DR!

Mary Jane's deal with Mephisto was Peter needed to be able to find someone else. If he dies that should negate the deal completely.
What would be great is if Norman has been plotting for this event this whole time. Since we have not looked into the Spider-mythos since One More Day I can honestly say we (hubby and myself) have seen a lot of Norman in other books.
I think this story has the makings of something good, I really do. The death will not be permanent, but I think the story leading up to it will be something to look into. Will it be Norman that finally gets Spidey? And if he really is the mastermind what contengencies does he have in place for all of Spidey's friends? Afterward, if this is all accomplished by Norman, how long will he live past the deed?
You see, I don't see a Doomsday scenario here (a new villain created for the sake of the story.) No, I strongly think the Green Goblin will be at the heart of all of this. We may not buy all of it, but we will pick up THE issue to see how it all ends. -
There are many ways to look at this. For me my ability to continue fighting is all that is killed if I am defeated and sent to the Hospital to have my drive resurrected. Really, it's in the mind of the player and this is a game not real life. Certainly, real life situations you will do whatever it takes, but as far as the game goes it is stated we "arrest" them. Words can be twisted to be both positive (meaning my character's drive is all that is killed and resurrected) or negative (taking things down to the reality of the situation as it would be in real life.) This is a game and the health bars are made up of colored pixels, just like the enemy you are defeating. It is entirely up to you how you perceive what happens to the foe upon defeat. This comes down to a simple phrase, "To each her own." And if you REALLY want to get technical the coding for the enemy you just squashed will respawn (or recycle) for someone else later.

As a casual reminder, Side Jobs (a short story compilation) comes out next Tuesday and the last story in it is a brand new one taking place after Changed. Enjoy ;-).

I know what server he plays on... Jsec have to get the door... Bob? Bob who? OH! Uhm... err... due to the ill timing on this post I must withdraw my knowledge of the server that he and a few other authors play on, it seems to have slipped my memory, completely... But I DO know who reported him in that instance *grin*.

I'm a big Julie Benz fan, because of Dexter oddly not Buffy/Angel. When we heard she would be in No Ordinary Family we were sort of Meh going in, but what we came away with was "this is our show." At its core it will be a "OMG I have powers let's try this and this AND this" show with a strong family vibe. It has an air of innocense that is missing from a lot of shows these days. I am going to look forward to this one every week and will be hyping it happily.

Woot! Just saw the vid and it was amazing as usual and THANK YOU for including that lazy... err... Praetor Bobcat, because she is still a Praetor in our hearts. *whispers* "was that good enough... can you get your claws off my shoulder? *gulp*"

Headline: Paragon City Under Marshal Quarantine
by T. Bell Cervantes
Two weeks ago the new Apex of the All-Star Sentinels of America asked fellow teammate, Major Ghost Comet, to have her extended organization assist with a quarantine field across Paragon City.
The field was put in place to prevent the spread of nanites, tiny microscipic machines with not only duplication properties, but self awareness.
Said nanites were threatening to infest not only the populace of Paragon City, but the world itself deeming humanity "ineffective in its current state."
Since, the Sentinels have put a halt to the nanite threat, but the quarantine field put in place by the aforementioned Navigators has remained in place.
Major Icon, the leader of the Navigators had this to say, "We understand the concerns of the populace, but we have seen that Paragon is the center of a nexus of chaos. We are keeping the quarantine field in place, but allowing safe passage under our watchful gaze. Already we have aprehended and secured several criminals and contraband. All of which was turned over to the Paragon Police Department and Longbow."
When asked about the possible response of Vanguard and the the continued threats created by Rikti and zombie hordes Major Icon simply replied, "Those conditions were present and dealt with long before we arrived. It is up to the current heroic populace to deal with these situations. As to Vanguard, they have made their plee to us, but we have demonstrated we are merely doing what we most to protect the outside environments from the chaos that could come forth from Paragon City."
Despite the supposed benevolence of the Navigators protesters, made up of citizens and heroes, have flooded Atlas Park of late demanding that the Navigators lower the field. Former Navigator, Honor Shot, was one of the first protestors. She had this to say, "I have seen imposed restrictions like this before and something always happens to put more restrictions in place. I hope the Navigators can be reasoned with before things get too out of control and the heroes of this city deem them a threat as well."
Reporting from Atlas Park, this has ben T. Bell Cervantes
[RP NOTE: Looking for protesters to make random appearances throughout Atlas around 6pm to 7pm (PST) Tonight and tomorrow night. -Ghost Comet. Event Sponsored by: The All-Star Sentinels of America.] -
I applauded and cursed Dexter's Emmy. Not going to spoil why because I waited and ignored reports for so long about season 4 and I know there are lots out there that haven't seen it. But I am genuinely looking forward to season 5 and yes, to keep repeating, it appears there won't be a serial killer to contend with this season, but I am betting two things; A) Deb finds out and B) the next door neighbor is more of a jerk than we have already been lead to believe.

Actually, I think there are several laws on the books that prevent suing forms of entertainment, including video game companies, for addiction related problems that might develop. It's about personality types, not the game itself. And technically, anything that offers an entertainment (pleasure stimulation) can lead to addiction depending on the person and how well they take to it. Heck, I'm addicted to Disneyland and have a pass to prove it. I go at least once a month. However, I feel that I am a rational reasoning adult and if I take a day from work to go then I must suffer the consequences, not Disney.
Now let's say I decide to sell my Annual Pass, a form of scalping. The back of the pass does state that this Voids the agreement just like the Eula states Selling of Goods for Reall World Currencies is a violation of the User Agreement. Can I sue Disney because I wasted all that time in their park and now I can't? Nope.
This person got caught and the case should have been thrown out. I have no idea what possessed the judge to let it carry forward, but a smart attorney will easily be able to get the appeal portion into dismissal.
Now if this involved some sort of food, inhalation, or liquid influx that caused an unknown form of addiction to creep up (along the lines of Tobacco or Alcohol) then the individual might have a case because it effected him phycially. Mental stimulation is a reaction that we can control and that is why the Entertainment Industry (sports, movies, televsion, music, video games, gambling) are protected and don't need Warning labels.
I do think, though, that NcSoft and other Video Game Companies (Not just MMO companies) may start putting cautionary labels to avoid future frivilous law suits. That's what casinos and the entire city of Las Vegas did. -
This looks beautiful. I will be seeking out any theatres that may be showing it for the usual limited release.

This news made me extremely happy. My brother bought the entire run of Sojourn for me and prior to today it was the only comic that had any interest for me. The strong female lead was a breath of fresh air and I hated how it ended. I would love to see her come back and maybe even integrated into the Marvel Universe in a crossover event down the road.

Uhm Sharpshooter, where can I grab TSFH's music? Went on a hunt and am coming up short.

Thanks for the new album pick *smirk* Two Steps From Hell just hit my CoH play list *smile*

When I finally got my controller (and my dominator) high enough both had a LOT of fun smothering them repeatedly.

After playing WoW I logged in and began camping a spawn. After three minutes of my bf laughing at me it dawned on me what I was doing. I promptly logged off and read a book for a while before returning. I had even chewed someone out for attempting to kill steal my spawns.

Woot! All of my info is privatized, as it should be. Lub having a brother in tech law enforcement. Oh, and btw displaying the real name of any player under the age of 18 (without their parents' consent) will have Blizzard dealing with enough lawsuits to do some real financial damage as well. WoW being a Teen Rated game does not leave them a lot of breathing room. If the game was rated MA they might have a loophole way around that, but it is, in fact, T+.

Soooooo the solution is to have MORE players cancel their accounts over fears of invasion of privacy or worse?
Today, and my MMO group represents a very slim majority, three people I know not only canceled their accounts over THIS, but removed the game from their computers. One went so far as to sell all their equipment and give the money away to their guild.
People play MMO's to escape and be someone they are not. Unveiling who they are [Can't believe I'm quoting my brother here] is in effect creating a mini example of the "Civil War." Having an identity to escape behind (in most cases this is a good thing) is something people need.
Then there are those that have used these games as a stepping stones to launch themselves into real, growing, friendships. It may seem odd, but MMO's offer those too timid for real world socialization to actual build social skills which some even try out in the real world. Heck, my guild leader and his now Wife, met playing WoW. Both admitted how shy they were to start. Before I got bored and left, they had left WoW for Real Life. We even threw them a Going Away party. Without the veil of anonimity they might never have taken those initial baby steps. -
This is a horrid idea and not just for reasons already stated.
Say there is Celebrity X playing the game and they post regularly on the forums. Along comes this and they must now make a choice; a) Come out and say yes I'm a fan and play [instant mailbox full] or b) avoid them entirely from that point on taking away a portion of the game [in this case posting on the forums] that Celebrity X enjoys BECAUSE of the anominity.
I have a few author and voice actors as friends and while they're not high on the Hollywood [OMG it's you] chain I can tell you that a few of them are regular forum posters for the games they play. After seeing that news one of them Axed their WoW account. Great news though, they may pick up CoH. *smiles* WTG! WoW! I think you've found the straw that will cause a small exodus. I, for one, will not renew my account with the new expansion now. -
Let's see that's 6pm my time (Pacific) I think. That's pretty much when I was going to start recruiting. I really want to do Hess because I want to see the big robot.
