  1. I still need two Trials to round out my old content badges (aside from the Shadow Shard.) So look for me to be recruiting for Hess or Eden sometime tonight as Lady Grimrose.
  2. LOL my fiance is actually drooling over Sparrow. He always did like the mysterious type.
  3. [Ghost Comet Here]: Checked my e-mail because I was up late fixing a bug in my iPad and what do I find! Wow! I am simply amazed! Adding the pic to show to my brother, the official comic bug in the family. Maybe I can finally get him in to play the game with this *smiles* Great catch Attache and thank you again!
  4. Considdering my main is part wolf (not a werewolf... bleh...) this is a major WANT NAOW for me *smirk* At least I get to play with it Friday. And comb it. And swish it at people. And...
  5. Our SG (The All-Star Sentinels on Virtue) utilizes the MA quite a bit to further the lore of our group and their adventures. Wednesday Warriors is what we call our main night for it and its rare not to have a full group.
  6. How many Mission Architects does it take to change a light bulb?

  7. Actually, a lot of it has to do with marketability.

Forget WoW for a moment, sure it's six years old as well but there's a better example that is on par with what you're trying to say.

Everquest is nearing the 11, that's right 11, year mark. It's player base declined substantially when WoW came out and has never recovered.

However, like City of Heroes, Everquest has a loyal (smaller) player base and has been entrenched for the past 6 years refusing to let the game go completely into the quiet night.

Sony, a company with a not so stellar track record for treating MMO communities well, knows the Everquest name has this loyal fanbase and uses it to pitch new ideas and development. The game, long ago, paid for itself and has a development staff (currently) on par with (you guessed it) CoH.

City of Heroes just won a major award here in the states for being a great SciFi MMO. That has marketability behind it. Going Rogue is going to cultivate a spike like CoV did and that is marketability.

NcSoft is not a small company, but it does understand the difference between a game not reaching the public eye and one with a loyal fanbase. If you look at the bottom of the screen and look at how many people are online using these forums, that is marketability. (Yes, that means the nice people that pay $15 a month just to Doom Cry count toward marketability.)

As long as the loyal fanbase stays put City of Heroes, like Everquest, will have a long and healthy life.
  8. Let me get my snarky Anti-Doom Comment out of the way.

Soooo here's another post about how the game is failing, yada, yada, yada...

Most of these boil down to someone unhappy with CoH and being a fan of another game.

So I should do what exactly, if CoH ever folds (which it won't because EQ has LESS of a population and is still cranking out expansions with the parent comapny's blessing)?

Maybe play Crapions online? Oh, I tried that... for a FREE month. Horrid game.

Wait? Star Blech Online? Nope same company. Subpar product once again.

Nope. I'm going to continue playing CoH until it closes and "if" ((Which is very unlikely since the main revinue for manufacturing the initial game has already been made back in spades)) that ever does happen I do have options but those options will include MMO developers that spend time and effort to bring a "quality" product to the market. Like, let me see, Paragon Studios.
  9. How about this:

-Massive combined effort from Praetoria, 5th Column, Nemesis, Zombies, etc. It just keeps getting worse and worse for us and then...

-The Rikti arrive, but not the warlike ones seeking to dominate our race, but rather the true leaders of the homeworld.

-But Rularuu reforms and starts a massive assault on everyone.

-Just when all seems lost Lord Recluse arrives with Arachnos to help the heroes and Freedom Phallanx repell everyone.

-Peace is restored and the War Walls come down. The heroes celebrate abolishing much of the evil the city had to offer. But somewhere laughter can be heard. Somewhere the plot... The Nemesis plot.... thickens.

    -ENTER: CoH2
  10. Wow! Just wow! My fave moments... Let's see....

-Joining the All-Star Sentinels [Shameless SG plug]
-Mission Architect! Talk about a story telling platform.
-Oroborus! Can we pleeeease get Mayhem/Safeguard into here as miniarcs?
-Dual Blades for my homage to my late cousin's old EQ character.
-Kinetic Melee! I know it's not out yet, but I have a name, background, and AE arc planned for our SG the day it is.
-Croatoa! Most dislike the zone, but I feel it is one of the best XP bumps in the game.
-Annnnd the Rikti Warzone revamp! I lub mothership raids!

And finally, all the great players I have teamed with over the years! Here's to six more years everyone!
  11. My SG utilizes MA quite a bit for our weekly events. We have lots of splendid authors. I thoroughly enjoy using it to advance the SG and character storylines. It also helps us confront our own nemeses rather than those provided by the game.

I am also a badger, but only in the sense of a single hero and a single villain. Annnd I strive for Defeat [NonPvp], Exploration, and History badges primarily.

PvP is non-existent for me. I do not play this game for it nor have I played any game for it. Should things be worked on for it, yes, but the community has proven it is more PvE centric. Thus, PvP should have some focus, but only partially so.
  12. Ok, I have tried installing a new Vid Card to solve my issues on test and with i17 launching on April 28th I desperately need help figuring out how to rid myself of the issues I'm having.

I have 2gigs of Ram and am running with a AMD Athlon 64 Proc. 3500+ with a Nvidea 260 vid card.

    My issues are:
-Unable to stop movement rotation, etc. once input. It's like I am under severe lag even when Ultra Mode is turned off.

I just noticed I am Direct X 9.0c running in Windows XP.

    Can anyone help me out?
  13. Ok, I simply must make a recommendation for a particular anime we found skimming channels one night. However, it is not for those that wish high paced action. Spice and Wolf, at its core, is a classic representation of the "slow build" love story. It has some very smart dialogue and I daresay you will learn quite a bit about being a merchant. For those of you with a significant other it is definitely one to sit and watch together.

Oh, and one more thing before I depart, "Aroooooo!"
  14. *yawn* Late at night... CoH forums... *gasp* Hya Attache! *hugs* Hope you can coax him back in because we miss him and I have cookies....
  15. Ok. You guys are GREAT! Listened to the Samuraiko episode. Great fun! Considder Off the Cape Faved!
  16. I doubt players will be forced to do anything other than XP to earn new levels. However, he might mean new costumes (ie ITF Roman gear) or even something akin to WoW's morphing where you must complete content to reach new content and the zones change as you do. That would be interesting and would definitely liven things up a bit.

This game has been built and trying to please both casual and hardcore alike. I doubt casual players will be forced to plow through content unless they can do it at their own pace. If the zone events are tied to Incarnate levels I hope it can all be accomplished by both types of players.
  17. I'm a badger at heart and exploration badges are a MUST for me. That being said I finally sat down and realized the whole scope of i17 and Going Rogue. My main badger will have to not only re-explore the entire city for new badges, but she will also have to explore the Rogue Isles (Soon to have MORE exploration badges), and on top of all that the exploration badges being put into Praetoria. I'm. Going. To. Go. Badge. Crazy.
  18. Storm of the Heart [Act One]

Debriefing: I have been through much in my long life and that ridiculous scribe only touched the surface of what has transpired between myself and my husband. My liege has been many things over the years, but his frustration has never really given way to what truly troubles his mind.

The death of our daughter needed to be delivered to him via my lips and in my cowardice I sent a team of messengers. It seems he and I will always play this game of chance poking and prodding our hearts until one breaks. It is this very thing that I fear has happened, his has ruptured.

I hold in my hand the one chance I have of finding my love, but is it for the best? Will seeing me calm his wounds or push him further into grief. Perhaps the messengers can do me one last favor. Maybe they can help bolster my own heart for I fear that in the end the Prophecy of the Elder Storm has already begun. It is coming and if the signs are correct, madness awaits us all.

Synopsis: Gothic Razor, in her grief, set out to find her husband and deliver the news of their daughter’s death via a team of Paragon’s heroes. The team found him in a building full of ghosts taunting Blazing Dynamo over the death is his daughter. When he discovered the news was true he assaulted the heroes and escaped at the last moment.

Knowing her mistake Gothic sends the team to locate a Lightning Diamond, one of the only objects able to hone in and locate her husband. The Crey forces in the building are not very happy about the intrusion and all evidence as to the brainwashing occuring in the within point to some middle management flunkie. Regardless, Gothic takes the gem and promises to contact the heroes when she locates her husband.

((NOTE: At the beginning of the year I set forth a challenge to myself, one AEpisode per week until Going Rogue Launches. Acts One through Eight are currently up and this is the final week for people to try the opening. Beginning next week the intermission ends and Acts Nine through Fifteen will unfold. I will be replacing the oldest active AEpisode with the new Act, but in response I will leave a post similar to this one here in the RP forums with this one containing the only OOC bit here at the end. Enjoy everyone. And if you're looking for the arcs just look for @Grimrose.))
  19. Annnnnnd the Cliffhanger is up...

    Act Seven: 378621
    Act Eight: 379269

I am going to give everyone approximately two weeks (more if there is enough demand) to get through these eight AEpisodes before I take Act One down and replace it with Act Nine. I hope everyone likes the story thus far and believe me some changes will come with i17. Please enjoy the ride leading up to Going Rogue everyone!
  20. At the beginning of the year I set myself a challenge. One new arc a week, with an ongoing plot, until Going Rogue releases. Thanks to recent events in my life I must concede that I fell a bit behind, but as of today I am merely one week back. So, in addition to the first three arcs I now have up the next three:

    Storm of the Heart:
    Act Four: #374764
    Act Five: #375255
    Act Six: #376605

Enjoy them. I will have Acts Seven and Eight Done sometime this week.
  21. I have one character that will be taking the Rogue Isle Tour to get badges and then she will be climbing back to blue side. And I can say I concur, I dislike playing a villain and intend to take most of my villains into the light, but I do have a singular hero that will make a perma transition. Again, though this will be so I can RP the end result of my AE epic. I do see red side getting a little more traffic though, not becoming a wasteland.
  22. I actually have 8 slots and started with 3 arcs up and running [3 weeks until Act Four everyone.] I have 15 arcs planned. If Going Rogue is not out by then I have a backup plan, but I will keep that a secret until then.

Once I hit 8 arcs I will freeze for a week to let people play through them [Yes, a cliffhanger awaits at the end of Act Eight mwahaha, but that is a well guarded secret.] After that I will remove Act One and replace it with Act Nine and so forth until Act 15 is up and running.

The challenge is to see if I can create a serial that will keep people coming back for more. And I think, based on some friends' feedback, I have achieved just that.
  23. Recently, I realized I needed a bit of a recharge for my enthusiasm of City of Heroes. This happens, sometimes between updates, but at this juncture I sat down I came up with an interesting challenge for myself. Starting September 1st I took the National Novel Writing Month challenge (50k words in a month) to an extreme. I wrote 50k words per month until the end of the year. It was quite daunting, but I am well pleased with the outcome and it will be featured in my blog sometime soon in 2k word chunks, per day.

When I was thinking about how to get my CoH recharge I thought why not give myself a similar challenge. One AEpisode per week, in an ongoing epic, for City of Heroes. My creative juices began flowing and before I knew it I had the first three arcs ready. Now, to be fair, my SG friends received a sneak peak at these Arcs and while it is not required that you be part of our SG to know anything about the story, you will see us as guests and contacts.

Now, let me set the record straight on these arcs before the critic squads start tearing them appart. The main story is not an origin or an attempt to glorify my characters. It is a story with a beginning, middle, and end. There will be reading and challenges built into these arcs, but I will not go beyond medium sized maps or the two mission maximum per arc. There are no AVs, only EBs, but they are decently challenging (not kill-you-in-one-shot hard, though.) What I am doing is using my peers (the CoH community) as my audience for a story that will end with direct ties to Going Rogue.

So, without furthering my already large wall of text:

    Storm of the Heart
    Act One: 353717
    Act Two: 355076
    Act Three: 356371

    Enjoy!
  24. Well, Tyant sits at Lev50 no matter when you complete the arc so say you go through the arc, like I do, at 46... Solo even a lev50 EB is insane for a lev46 and I fought him as a scrappie, blaster, and tanker. I usually wind up pulling a team together for anyone that wants the Badge associated with it. Yes, he's a bit easy, but I view it like this...

You're fighting Tyrant on our terms with us bringing the fight to him. As others have stated, wait until GR comes out. I am almost certain there will be a new TF/SF dealing with Praetoria, maybe even more than one. Imagine how Tyrant will be cornered (or springing a trap) for us where things are set to his advantage.

I say graphically beef up Tyrant and maybe push his defense a smidge higher, but not too much. I like my two Praetorian Arcs, they finish off the career of every hero I make.
  25. So, basically, there are people sitting around here waiting to see if the jerk who wrote this article is correct because a certain competing game came out and fizzled, not doing the trick?

To me I see quite a few people siding with the fact that Going Rogue won't pull in numbers rather than be excited and trying to pull people into the game with what was revealed at HeroCon.

Me, as one of the people who had to watch Vids and Podcasts rather than attend (had a writing deadline...and people still haven't figured out who I am *smirk*), I happen to be excited about the future of CoH and view GR as a step some older MMOs should have taken to keep their players.

Take the former "King" of fantasy MMOs, beginning with an E not a W. If they had overhauled the world, graphically, and made things more casual friendly at the higher levels, they might still be at the top of the heap. Where is this game now? Alive, but with population numbers on par with CoH, maybe lower. That game just celebrated 10 years.

Now, look at Paragon Studios...They are listening to what we want and giving us quite a bit more. I have friends who stopped playing CoH, but when I showed them the Hero Con Vids, they re-activated without flinching. One of them commented that the Banner idea for Halloween was truly original and fun and can not wait to see this years winter event.

Point is, Going Rogue is a good thing, not a bad. Do not let the agrivated Doomsayers win. Get people to take a peek, get them excited, get them waiting with baited breath. Join the revolution! Long Live Praetoria....err wait a minute....getting ahead of myself *smirk*
