Horror stories about Devs being torn limb from limb by their playerbase notwithstanding...

    [/ QUOTE ]

Are there really horror stories of this?

    [/ QUOTE ]

PM a couple rednames. Make a note of which ones don't accept pm's anymore.
  2. Teh AASQ is ebil... it confuses cookies. Again.

I wonder if this is why Dev's don't post as much as they used to.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Probably.

Personally, I hate the word, and try never to use it when talking about the game to players. It carries a very negative stigma that I like to avoid whenever possible.

    [/ QUOTE ]

So does this mean no more nerfs? Or are you just going to use a different word for it?

    [/ QUOTE ]

From now on, any action that may be seen as a nerf by the playerbase shall be referred to as "French"...

    Oi the conotations.....

It's only been a frickin day since his last post...

That makes the transcript about 16 hours late!

    Totally joking, yes... I am.

Unfortunately, I'm female, therefore I have a light laugh, a giggle, whichever you prefer. That's not goin' anywhere. I understand if you don't like it when a person when laugh on-air, that's fine. I'm just a naturally bubbly person.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Do what I do: Blame it all on Celtic.

    It's probably his fault anyways.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I thought everything was Frost's fault?

So, are we going to see a recording or transcript soon (for those of us who had to stand at a supermarket checkout until 9PM Pacific)?

    [/ QUOTE ]

/second that request, but I wasn't at the grocery store. Saw Superman Returns at Imax and Pirates of the Caribbean.

    4. International Forums - we have international players here and they post all the time. I don't feel like we need to segregate them with special areas. If you mean will our European/Asian player forums be consolidated with ours? Nope. Not at this time.

    [/ QUOTE ]

How about allowing us to post on the euro forums. I'm a brit on the US servers and won't transfer over as 70+ toons into 24 english language slots doesn't go. I do however browse the euro boards occasionally looking for events, and I come across questions I can answer but am not allowed to as I can't post. Working something like putting US_ on the front of the handle and truncating, plus using numbers on the end if the result is taken should allow it.

Mr Minotaur 50 stone/axe tank Freedom
and many others including 6 more CoH 50s and 4 CoV 40+

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Aye, that's why I asked.

No, I'm not European, but for awhile we had a thread in CoV General the EU players would read and respond to a thread in their forums' General section and vice versa. 'Twas fun.

(And you can always PM me with them in the future, ya know, as opposed to making it a matter of public record)

    [/ QUOTE ]

But this way is more fun.

  10. [ QUOTE ]
There are about a million questions that are already listed for tonights show - and some of the ones asked here may not appeal to SI radio's more general audience. So I'll answer some here - heck - I don't think we have ever had an "Ask Cuppa"

    [/ QUOTE ]

    We do now.

    Thanks for answering stuff.
  11. [ QUOTE ]
But if you have a question you really want answered, post it here, or PM it to me, and I'll do my best to get it on air.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Any hints from dev-HQ about what's in I8. Anything that she knows the devs are looking into changing. Any plans for more rednames popping onto the live servers to participate in player run events. Any plans for an international forum section, where players from the different communities could interact, probably have to be seperated for different languages and such.
  12. [ QUOTE ]
A "red name" is simply an official company/game rep of some kind, and anyone with half a brain would appreciate their actual feedback, not pardoning them for everything carta blanche', but also not villifying all of them all the time either.

    [/ QUOTE ]

On that, I agree. My biggest complaint would be both sides of that. Both villifying and forgiving everything the devs do as if they were gods and we are ants subject to their whims. They're human beings. Human beings make mistakes. Point out the mistake without all the undertones of accusation. As if every mistake ever made, even something from some data entry guy making minimum wage, was actually Jack's doing, and he did it on purpose.

Wow, this game is really turning into a "cult of personality". With ALL the stuff that is defective, broken, unexplained, unfixed, and just downright wrong in this game, it's hardly the time for a press op and back-patting.

If you guys think way-way-WAY back - to like....last week, the same group of people who went "Old Yeller" on 70 employees, left us paying customers high and dry, and unable to login, for the better part of a day.

So, before any "unmasking" is done, let's see if we can get some TOUGH questions answered, instead of a bunch of "Larry King" softballs.

Let's see if there's anything worth listening to.

    [/ QUOTE ]

So, tell me - how is Cuppa responsible for the "defective, broken, unexplained, unfixed, and just downright wrong in this game"?

Like a previous post said - if there are questions you want answered - post them here. If they are good questions, we'll ask her. But if their just going to be agressive scapegoating, then I guess we can just pass on each other.

Cuppa is a huge asset to the community - while she can certainly answer questions about player concerns, martyring her does no one any good. Comparing the immense respect the community as a whole has for Cuppa and all she's done on our behalf to mindless adulation of a leader of a totalitarian regime . . . um, yeah. Get some perspective, man.

    [/ QUOTE ]

By the same logic that she was derided the last time she gave a radio interview.

Apparently, and I'm still trying to figure it out myself, this is just what I've figured out from others folks posts on the subject, but apparently it is believed that CuppaJo - Community Representitive/Forum Mod and all, a person who has in the past brought our posts to the developers attention, this person has more dev power and responsibility than the actual developers.

I'm not sure if it's because the difference between forum moderator and game developer is so subtle or just a mistaken belief that anyone with a redname is evil incarnate.

It's True! I will be there. And that's right baby - I'm ALL mask.

    [/ QUOTE ]

First, I've seen pics of you. You scare me already. Please, keep the durn mask on.

Second, would you consider dropping some hints about what the devs are thinking, what threads they are following, what's important to them as far as the game goes?

And details are always more welcome than hints but... yeah.

    Pwease?

    1) Arson requires the specific intent to cause harm. If the prosecutor and judge knew that he had no intent to cause harm he had no business being prosecuted for Arson. Both the prosecutor and judge were in derogation of their oath.

    2) This case should have been brought as a reckless homicide. However even there, there was insufficient evidence that the defendant knew that his actions were likely to cause the harm inflicted. This is necessary when the government alleges reckless conduct. The defendant was a teenager and there is no evidence that he knew the extent of his powers.

    3) As a juvenile who should not have been charged with an intentional crime, he should have been charged as a juvenile. Even assuming conviction, he should have been remanded to juvenile custody until 21.

    He got railroaded.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I respect your opinion EG, but what if Paragon City has a few special laws with regard to causing bodily injury and/or death by means of super powers?

    [/ QUOTE ]

In criminal law there are two primary elements: mens rea and actus rea. In English the "state of mind" (mens rea) and the act (actus rea).

A law regarding the use of super powers to cause bodily harm would probably require either: recklessness, knowledge or intent as mental states. Intent and Knowledge simply aren't present here. Recklessness probably is, but juvenile recklessness, not adult.

There's no question that the act (homicide) was present, but the mental state is actually more important.

    [/ QUOTE ]

When they offered him 5 years and he wanted no punishment at all for deaths, could that have been construed as recklessness or even a total disreguard for life?

he also refused the deal for a lighter sentence - if they offer a deal like that the chances are the odds are against you

    [/ QUOTE ]

Yeah, they offered him 5 years but he didn't think he should get any punishment at all and went for a jury trial thinking he was innocent. The conviction, the moment the forperson stood up and said "Guilty" may have been his breaking point more than the sentance itself.

He was acting as an actual vigilante.

Heroes in Paragon are supposed to register their powers and operate with governmental oversight. He didn't do so and reaped the consequences.

    [/ QUOTE ]

So you're saying your hero would have just let the robbery take place if he hadn't gotten his license yet?

    [/ QUOTE ]

I think the part about "His fire powers ignited the building, and the ensuing inferno destroyed the building. Although Calhoun escaped unharmed, several people were killed in the blaze, including the clerk and the robber." may have influenced his sentancing. I'd imagine he'd have either been sentanced to a youth outreach center if there'd been minimal damage and no loss of life or parole or something for just property damage.

He killed several people. That had to be why he got a harsh sentance.
