Well Artegal we run it in the evenings and if the server is not down for maintenence we keep at it until the work/lectures are over (and we want to play). That has been the process for now.

We Got the base back again. Thank you GM's In particular GM_Romain and GM_Roland (on US).
Now to crashtest bases on Test and be certain of minimums etc... and will go through the base and start posting a few images that i promised -

However as I said, 15000 items was loaded no sweat. However when that maintenence came and Lucy was in edit mode we had crossed 16000.

Using testbases creating as much items in one and find that limit!
Both to find what works through stability and when will it crash
Thus using the test base(s) as the limit of what we will use on live.
(And glad that you wrote the "The ability of the engine to support complex bases utilising so many items is not infinite"... finally. After we found out that the amount of decorative items you can have in a base is NOT infinite *cheeky grin* -
hmm another fact update. Seems a sg on Vigilance had the problem too.. they had 13500 items.
Also Lucy gave me the proper number.. before the crash we had 15000 items, when the crash through being in base-edit mode and server going down... she had added 16000. -
Due to the Dev's choice of removing the possibility to earn "Reformed", I had to mention this on the badgesheet.
History: (NOT fishing for discussion, just stating things)
It has after all been with us since Issue 6. Now it was unintentionally given to us as a possible badge (but the badge text and name is completely different then the villain badge (Villain version)) through getting confused in a pvp zone and fight the longbow there.
With the Second Rikti invasion and introduction of Vanguard in Issue 10 there came a contact named Gaussian. Through this mission we had the possibility of fighting Longbow in a very ligit way. Thus we did not need to get confused anymore. Thus we thought the Reformed badge was VERY intentional.

Fixed a bug where heroes would see the Villain/Reformed badge progress bar. This badge should be completely unobtainable by heroes. Those players already with the badge will keep the badge.

Well this was what happened (as I do not believe that we hit the barrier):
Three weeks ago just before the daily maintenence our Architect @Lucy Shine was in base edit mode. She did not see the messages and when the server went down (forced shutdown), she was ejected straigth to the windows desktop. This was unusual and she did dread that something was wrong.
When the server came back up again, her fears came true. We where now stuck with just the entrance. All the prestige, the entire base was gone. (Even prestige when you enter the supergroup registrar to see the list... that was gone).
Now to your question Forseti. The old base came close to 6000 items. The main building block used was the shelf.
Now in test we exceeded that amount by atleast 8800, no problem.
Our new building block was the counter/desk. There was no lagspikes, no sign that the loader had problems of loading the base, even when we where inside the base. When it was loaded (and no person was inside) there was the same loadtime as everything else.
Thus we conclude that the amount of baseitems are not the issue. The issue was that our architect was inside the base editor when the server went down for maintenence.
From later communication a GM did say that the base was there, however that said GM did forget that he or she was in GM mode. Had he or she entered it through the game, he or she would have seen our problem, and realized that there IS a problem.
What they need to to is just to reestablish the path... just as they did the prior times when they gave us back the base again.
Now I do understand that finding out just how this happened is important, but if the base still is there, please give it back...
Oh... so far if i remember right we came to 14000 items. The base had no problems loading this amount several days before, thus it can't be the the amount of items.
When we get it back, I should post a few images so you can see what Lucy did make -

It seems we are nearing the Third week where we have been baseless.
Since we are a roleplaying SG, the base is quite important. (Also for base teleporters ofc). It is our home...
When we had the problems last year it took less then a week to get the base back... three weeks? Did we bust the loader that bad?

Its still an achivement. Someone did that. Just as someone did the old grind of getting Isolator (100 contaminated).. through RV.
People have different priorities, different goals. Removing their achivements, when in the Reformed issue, the need to be confused and wack longbow was made redundant. Because of Guassians arc... -
2 wrongs dont make one right Golden Girl.
If they remove it from every hero that has it (2 badges lost)... they will wrong those of us who has put a lot of time and effort already in it.
I hate the bright idea "lets remove Reformed"... but removing it from people who has it = not good.
It was one of the badges that i really wanted for my main, her being.. Reformed and all that too... -
.. so some of us are going to be punished for having the badge, for taking the time to get it?... no.
I dont like the reformed being removed (the idea is laughable and NOT fun!). Specially since the badge has been around since issue 7... The Gaussian arc simply made the Reformed badge ligit. Now its removed (im not a happy camper).
Although such a matter coupled with the hero/villain names on missions, could mean that Going rogue/changing sides... might become an option in the near future. -

Just wanted people to know that we have problems. When our base vanished 4-5 times last year, we did get a little routined in getting reply and the base back... Now its 2 weeks and we have gotten problem upon problem and some people seem to have forgotten the routine... so we force the issue. (I know... Im evil... But seriously GM's we DONT Bite)

Just wanted to tell you the tragic story (again).
Our base is called "New Heroes Union" -Union Server
Some may remember the trouble we had last year with our base going poof, due to lots of decorative items. We did find a limit.
It was resolved.
Issue 13 comes and our Architect starts a remake (the old limit was broken successfully and everything looked GREAT).
Then...
A friday of maintenence comes. And our woes thus start...
Our Architect was in edit mode when the server went down for maintenence. She went immidiatly and unconventionally straight to Desktop... and had a sneaking suspicion that something was wrong.
Then maintenence is over and we log back in. Base is gone.
All prestige, except that which has not been used... is gone.
(The good thing is that we still have to pay upkeep for the base, so we hope it is still there.)
Its been two weeks now... and little progress.
Also a new problem occurred.
We do have several coaltions to people, but... it seems these bases and coaltions do not exists. Cause when we try to break coaltions we get the message "The coaltion do not exists" and when we try to make one we have Full coalition list...
We wave our flags and hope that the GM's can find the problem and restore our base. Please wave with us? -

I miss the old debt...
I miss the old hollow. Soaring over there healing, forting and buffing lower levels who dodged between monster groups on their way to missions. And rezzing those who had fallen (saved them a trip from atlas).
I miss the chance of getting "reformed" badge (sneakyly nerf there...)
Fortunatly there are alot of things that keep me going. Rp, badging, new stuff (keep them coming Devs)...

Well I did give a little hint on how to get that pvp badge in the recent thread. It just takes active dedication, time and constant doing. Say if you choose Warburg, bring every alt lvl 30 and above (so do your badger friends). Then time the kills in order (10 min wait until same Badgerchar can "kill" that char).
Just like every farm badge... it takes time
(Shudder as i realize i should start doing this on my mm and my emp)
But knowing that we are 4 people that are interested goes a long way.

Yes Sal... we need to turn that trend (die hard badges dying)... I know we will get more players for this if they get their Disruptor badge... (ponder) -
The main annoyance with the reputation system for the pvp badge IS the DECAY of points, a total of 2 each day.
When I got it, i got together with a few likeminded people at a premade time, with any alt that could be used as cannonfodder.
To get a point from the same char, you got to wait killing him/her/it by 10 minutes. Those chars that need the badge are the killers (but they can also kill eachother in turn each 10 min). The alts that will feed the points are... well targets.
Get the wakies or one char that can rez and simply keep doing such a farm abit away from where normal pvp'ers fight.
Make certain that you get enough points on the killer characters to fight the decay and points that will get you towards progress.
Do this regulary! The more often, the less points are paid in upkeep for decay.
Mass tries as you did is good for boosts
But as said, I would advice you to get together with the core group, bring your alts and make your mains kill eachother alts and the other killers. Do as little as travel back to the kill spot. AND GO ON /HIDE !!!

Even though Empath has been reduced to 100 million, it will still take some time... with two.
