Quote:You forgot fire attacks lot of AoE with that one.I wouldn't bother putting taunt enhancements in your attacks personally. I mean, they are just not required and take up space for something that could be more beneficial to you.
Between gauntlet and your taunt power itself. Chances are you are going to be fine. If your secondary is something like Electric melee which IMO is ideal for a tanking tanker you can hit multiple foes at the same time and thus taunting them. Gauntlet is great because for every foe you hit, it taunts them, and all other foes in melee range.
Now imagine a successful AOE where you hit everything, you taunt them all for multiple points with one blow. On something like Electric melee, and Super Strength for its footstomp, you can do some serious taunting without even triggering your taunt power. Often, I just run into the mob ony my invul / ss, stomp and stand there, the mobs just converge on me automatically. the only time I use my taunt power these days is literally to pick up stragglers. -
True but its going to be slow going when lot of people likes to speed things up on TFs and SFs, jetpack is also very slow.

Quote:On my fire/fire tank I feel like a real tank, I have even out lived other tanks on it. The beauty of the fire tank is the damage it dose, and able to hold aggro, I do not eat many purples when i am on my fire tank.I saw that thread, but he was specifically going for highest offense. I was aiming for something more defensive to make Fire/Fire feel a little more tankish and a little less scrapperly. I have a BS/Regen scrapper that I like to play when I'm going for an offensive toon with enough defense to make do.
However, I also understand the sentiment that I'm playing a set which is heavily oriented towards offense (mostly because I like the theme). I'll play around with a build that pushes damage, accuracy, and recharge more and just tries to hit 27.5-41.5% S/L/E/N defense (barrier plus small luck to soft cap even cons to iTrial). My main goal is to get a jack-of-all-trades that doesn't really compromise much on anything, and this build does feel like I had to make a lot of compromises and still didn't quite end up where I wanted. So, I'll swap out maneuvers for hasten and build for more recharge. I do like the idea of getting S/L and E/N set bonuses with fewer slots invested so I can spread the slots around a bit more.
Thanks for pointing out my newb mistakes with the combat suppression... I've been away for a while and am getting back into the game.
I also meant to include the Barrier. I turned it off because the first 10 seconds were throwing off all my numbers. I wish Mids had a way to only show the numbers for the last minute. I'm not missing a way to do that am I?
This is a pie-in-the-sky build right now (remember, he's only 35, and I'm a relatively casual player). But it is fun to see where the numbers could go, and where to invest my play time if I want to get there eventually. -
if u want to look at some examples of some fire/fire builds go here http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showthread.php?t=262408

Well here is my 2 cents worth about this, first off I take it u are not going for any Mo runs on this toon since u said u will be good if u just used ninja run and temp travel powers since they can not be used in them. Second off you might want to reconsider your KB protection since it is only 3. 3rd u have a full set of numa in your healing flames if u want the bonus from the numa +reg/+recovery u might want to put it in to health since you can only get the bonus if u activate it. 4th your going to run out of end real quick with all those toggles, and your recharge is very slow. Yes it is a nice idea of u thinking like that but most of that are not going to do u any good if u get KBed and run out of end and end up with less then SC on your def.
-
YOu forgot to say GI JOE. But in my experience PPl are saying use break frees I have tried to use them in the past and it did not work by the time i got to my 7th or 8th one I was dead. The best way is either have a Emp cast CM (if they took it) or pain cast EM ( if they took it) or a kin cast ID (If they took it) and taunt from a distance ( if u took it).

Quote:Do not forget that merm dose Friday midnight raid on every other Friday. Not to rain on your parade or anything, but there isn't enough redside activity for a Hami raid to really get going (or at least there wasn't shortly after I18 launched, and the population's declined since then). Doesn't help that several of the players with extensive redside raid experience no longer play.

None taken I said he could try doing it before HAMI or after but he decided to change the day to Tuesday.

Quote:He has been playing for awhile and the reason he do not want to do it on Monday is because of HAMI and not all the people on Justice do not go to Tanker Tuesdays.Welcome to the forums!
And specifically, welcome to Justice.
Just a thought, I know there are several Justice folks who run their tanks on Tuesdays (even on other servers).
I also know that "Brutal Mondays" are the first Monday of each month; but if you are just running your event once a month as well, why not take the second Monday & call it "Monster Monday"?
Just a thought.
Oh, and before I forget.... required reading (be sure to take note of the start date on that)

Yes you can i did that with my MM and got a shinny new badge to go with it.

Quote:I have a toon with 4 KB protection that is not a tank that still gets KBed by lot of other stuff besides EBs, AVs, and GMs. Some of the Bosses and Lieutenants has that as well, plus you have to remember we are talking bout a tank who should grab aggro away from the others you can not do that if your always KBed.I stand by my statement that 3-4 pts is good enough for most content. I did not say all. Good enough means to me that I will only get knocked down/ back by the occasional foe. In my experience, only some EBs, AVs, GMs and bosses regularly beat 3-4 pts resist. And when they do, even with 10-12 pts, they can bounce you around. Pylons are just mean if you dont have KB protect.
Anyways, amount of KB resistance necessary is a personal preference. -
@Disco Daddy came up to me with a great idea for an event called monster Tuesdays. It will be on the first Tuesdays of each month where u go hunt GMs down. It will start at 10p, EST he has not given me where to meet but if you have any questions please contact @Disco Daddy, for this is his event and unfortunately he has yet made a account on the forums. Thank you for your attention

Here is my 2 cents. If you are worried about the prices of the purples at first, use Posi Blast and Oblits in their places. Same bonuses just smaller. As for KB resist, 3 pts or better is fine for most content. I've seen builds with 12 pts but in my experience, anything in the game able to beat 3-4 pts, will also beat 12+. This is fire armor, you will get hit. No matter how much defense you get from sets and powers, you have no defense debuff resist at all. Once you get hit by that first debuff, your defense will plummet fast, therefore you need to have Healing Flames recharge as fast as possible. So, take out those foes that slow you first. -
First off Slad why did u not take consume in that build? That is something u will need for 2 reasons first off it gets your end back and second it dose damage. Second why should he go Pyre if they want energy? Third off some of the things u put on it you really do not need for it like Build up, Temp Protection. This is the build I use and it is easier to make then you would with the purples.

Quote:Lately I have been Tanking HAMI it self and I have been using 1 EoE thanks to the support team. My build is not fully slotted yet and I do not have rebirth for my tank instead I took barrier but I do not use it against HAMI for it wont help. It all depends on the kind of HAMI if u should do a retreat or non retreat HAMI and what kind of support u get. I have had 3-4 good emps on the HAMI aggro team, and 1 kin to give them SB. And my first HAMI I was like lvl 45 with this toon and I didnt use much EoEs gut I was on the yellow taunt team too.Taunt, HP, Regen and EOEs are the key elements to tanking in a Hamidon raid. How much you really need depends on whether you're on yellow taunt or tanking Hamidon. Yellow taunt can get by on SOs and EOEs, so I wouldn't bother making a special build for this. Just use your normal PVE build and you'll be fine. If you want to tank Hamidon, then I'd recommend building for +HP and +Regen, which you should be doing anyway on a WP/* Tanker. A solid PVE build will do just fine, assuming any sort of support from teammates.

I have done it a few times and i will be more then happy to help u out on what needs to be done, and i will choose who to bring by what we have for it.
