Thanks Mona I have only 1 person let me know that they wanted to be auctioned off so far.

I also like to use them in stuff like Rage, but for some reason I keep getting the other kind I think I own like 3 sets or something, luckily I can use it for my MM.
  4. OK first off what do you want out of this tank? What are you looking to get out of it? Remember most of the things you will fight will do S/L damage. I worked on your build did a little change here and there to get you more recharge and better s/l damage. Thing you have to remember is Activate def is your thing to not to get Held KBed or stuff like that.

If you ever been on a Tanker Tuesday you really do not need debuffs, I have been on lot of Tanker Tuesdays where the first thing we do is take out Paladin, then some of us go and do TFs with AVs and had no problem doing them including ITFs/Lgfts and yes some trials.

I know that i was informing the person that they have 45% in the resistance not there def. This way they know that soft cap for def is 45% They are sitting at 16% on S/L def but there melee/range/ and AoE is SC.
  8. Interesting build First off I take it that you have the vet badge where you can take SS with out either hast or flurry? There is nothing wrong with that if you do. Me personally would switch the numina ++ to either health or Quick Healing since they are both active all the time, but that is just me, just like I would of taken hasten so i can get my recharge up there.
  9. Soft cap in def is 45% not in resistance.

You shouldn't need as much base recovery as other toons as you have two aoe end recovery powers available to you.

I have done a quick-n-dirty build that shows my suggestions.

That is nice if you have the influence for the Purples, and the PvP IOs. I have used Purples before and they drain end like no tomorrow yes the recharge was nice but it did not do any good when I had no end, plus they are expensive, not to mention you only had 4 KB prot, Go with fin Idea its way better build for cheaper cost.
  11. To go what fin said I have a fire tank that I like playing and have just done about everything with it but the keys trial on. I also noticed you have no travel powers at all so I take it you are not going to do any Master Runs? It is fine if you like using temp powers and such but just remember there are certain places where even temps can not be used to travel to certain places.

Don't buy the IOs directly from WW/BM(unless the prices are really good). Get the recipes and craft them. You can get the Gen. IO recipes from WW or the crafting table. Craft the Generic drops you get as well. If the salvage is pricier then you wish to spend, consider doing some AE for tickets and purchasing Uncommon and Rare salvage that way. Common Salvage via the AE isn't all that expensive, but they are random rolls. Make sure you're doing the rolls at the right level for the right drops. http://wiki.cohtitan.com/wiki/Invention_Salvage_Tiers

I should have mentioned that you need to have purchased Going Rogue to be able to earn Hero/Villain Merits. You can only get tip mission by defeating lvl20+ enemies in the game and they will randomly drop. They will show up under contacts/tips. You can get each of the Unique IOs for 250ish regular merits or 2 Hero/Villain Merits. If you've got the cash you can also convert 50 regular merits and 20 million per day into an Alignment merit (Hero/Villain merit). Hero side this is done at Fort Trident in Atlas park. Again, this is only accessible if you've got Going Rogue.

You could probably get away without using the Numina and Miracle uniques, but considering how many toggles you're running, my personal preference would be to get and slot them. It's really up to you.
To go with this keep in mind you can only get 1 unique per build IE the Numina and Miracle. If you do not have GR then you can still get them with reg merits.

I'm really pleased to hear that the toon is salvageable, however.

As I mentioned I'm not a mids guy, but I'm still seeing my def capped for S/L/E/N. Aside from pure psi attacks, shouldn't I be more or less alright? Is it just that Aracnos, as was said already, has substantial to-hit buffs?
No the Cims also have a debuff when they hit, as well as longbow and others.
  14. Ok I looked at it and you have darkest night active, when you do you will be out of end in no time at all. Me personally I would not use the Purples, yes they look good but they have no end red but 1 which will eat up your end fast, and are expensive to get in the first place, unless you already have them.

I hadn't noticed that. This is absolutely right.

By putting that piece in Hibernate, it means you only get the bonus when you are using Hibernate. The rest of the time it is doing nothing at all.
Sorry bout that I was addressing them why they might of been getting hit not, the first part about def to let ppl like you who had no access to mids when they are on at the time. Sorry for the confusion. So I was letting the person know they had low res which might be the reason you might be getting hit. Like said before it is hard to raise your resistance.

He likes to say that because it makes all brutes sound much more resilient than they are. Its his way of constantly twisting information to suit his agenda.

When the reality is only Stone and Invuln (and eventually regen most likely) can currently even get to the Brute HP cap, and that will require some heavy build sacrifices that are not as dramatic or even required on the Tanker.

    Look at Mauk's Build.

He has focused on high softcapped defenses, has a good deal of +HP bonuses and yet has 2950 HP or so vs. Tanker Invuln builds that can sit at 3500 and he sacrificed a fair amount of recharge as well as 2 AoE attacks to get there (Which is a decrease in offense).

This is not the "only 10% less max HP" that Johnny keeps ranting about.

It also ignores, repeatedly, the inconveniently significant Base Defense and Base Resistance advantages of the tanker.

An solid Invuln Tanker build can get to 90% SM/L Res, and sit 3500 HP with DP running.

Its also easier to get DP perma, as Tankers have more starting DEF to work off of to hit softcap and can focus on more Rech, as well as +HP bonuses to help them cap.
I know I was Just trying to say how silly it is becoming this talk is becoming.

For the record, if you aren't sure the soft cap for defense is 45%.

I can't open the build from work, but I'm not seeing a whole lot of sets in ther that give you decenttyped defense bonuses, most of what I see is giving positional.

(yes, positional bonuses also give typed bonuses, but at half the amount)

Your 6 Red Fortunes are giving you 2.5% ranged defense, but only 1.25% Energy/Negative defense.

You WAY overslotted Combat Jumping. Your 6 slotting of that power is giving you less than a 2% improvement to your overall defense. Pull 4 of those slots out and use them somewhere they'd be more useful.

I can tell just by looking at your build that you are not soft capped. I think what you probably did that is giving you that perception is you set Energy Absorption to 10 targets and left it on when you calculated your defense. Since you only 2 slotted it for end recovery, I'm guessing you are not using it proactively to boost your defense in a fight.

You are getting out of your existing defense set bonuses:

    2.5% E/N defense
    roughly 2.75% F/C defense
    about 3% S/L defense

That isn't enough to soft cap your defense without heavily relying on Energy Absorption to make up the difference, which it doesn't look like you're doing when you play the character (though you probably DID in Mid's and it made you think you were softcapped).

I'll try and take a look at the build when I get home from work today, if no one else beats me to it. I'm not the best with Ice tanks, but I know where most of the set bonuses you want for it can be found.
I looked at your Build and see that you do have S/S/E/N over SC but the problem I see is that your res is way low. You have hardly any res for your tank at all. The only res you have is cold, I also see that your attacks are really slow as well. I would of put your numa ++ in to health instead of hibernate.
  18. Ok I am getting confused I thought this was thread was for tanks? I did not realized it was for brutes and scrappers? ( damn ran out of popcorn)
  19. Me I usually go with reg merits lot easier to get if you like to do TFs, witch I do. Plus it helps get the salvage to make them, and extra infl.

That is not that expensive at all heck all you need is some merits for the RA sets, and LoTG sets and the Numas ++ or even get them with A-merits, the rest is rather pretty cheap. Heck I have some of those that are not RA or LoTG or the numas,. I get them almost all the time. FYI can you data chunk your build?
  21. It was fun sorry I had to go early, for couple of reasons, 1 work IE I had to make dinner for everyone in the house, 2 Thunder storms.

Actually well built trollers can do anything. Also tanks can very much do tremendouse dmg "thanks LSK for the quote"
Ya I was tired of hearing how tanks can not hit for above a certain amount and remembered what you said on another post Going what you said, I have done an all troller MoITF pre incarnates and we went through most of the content like a hot knife through butter including GW. Then we went against Lord Recluse. I kind of felt sorry for him for he did not know what hit him. So yes controllers can tank, heck I had my ice/storm troller took out both of the NPCS on a LGTF that we was not going to fail, and it was before I put any IOs in it and still had SOs.
  23. Any more of this and I will turn this thread around and we will go home.
  24. There is all kind of things that I have noticed that lot of ppl do not see like this.
