Quote:So basicly you have no def when you get exempt down to do some low level stuff. The goal with the recharge was actually to get Conserve Power up quicker. Which has been working to a point. The last string of adjustments I made I was debating whether or not to put my final slot into Hasten or Conserve Power (in hopes of getting CP back up quicker). From what I'm gathering though it seems like my build buried any issues regarding damage, regen/recovery but has left significant holes in endurance which my answer of Conserve Power and Consume coming back up quicker became an unrealistic round-about goal.

Quote:I do not have a pic of that but here is the build.uh...2 slotted hasten and no purps?
I'll go ahead and call you out... pics or it didn't happen.

Quote:If you replace your melee attacks with Kin Com you can get the def and open up some space, also on your res you can add reactive armor 4 slot and add a steadfast unique it will get you closer to soft cap on def. But I was looking at your build and you have all your attacks before you got your def power I like to know how you did that.Like I said in the beginning of my first post this is "the build as it stands in game today." I have the IOs listed in the build. I see your point about the length of the first post and it was done purposely for anyone who may be using a mac and not running a windows partition for Mids, I'll adjust it though.
I agreed with what you mentioned regarding ending set bonuses for RECH or DEF, which is why all of my attacks are Obliteration or Crushing Impact. Like you said though downside is lack of end discount for the Obliteration sets. Which could easily be countered with a high enough recharge for Consume but with 3 LoTG's and the recharge set bonuses I already have I'm running a recharge rate as high as I can (as far as I can see). If you have suggestions for it I'm all ears. If it seems like I've done the best I can than I can see a definite need for Spiritual over Musculature. -
Quote:Funny I got Perma Hasten without all that and I just have it 2 slotted on most of my builds. I hardly use Purples on my builds either. This depends. Are you going for the soft-cap with a particular number of foes in range of your aura? If so, how many? But yes, it's doable, and usually a little pricey if you don't want a gimped build. But with 121.7 second recharge on Hasten, I think you can consider it perma. a 1.7 second down time... are you really that concerned with closing the gap?
Yes, you can achieve perma hasten without spending billions. You need to achieve 107.5% global recharge bonus, and 3-slot hasten for recharge.
5 LotG's (37.5%) + 5 5% Bonuses (25%) + 6 slotted Mocking Beratement (7.5%) + 4 sets of purples (40%) will get you there (110% total).
You'll just need to farm the hell out of alignment merits to purchase it all. -
Quote:Maneuvers is also an end hog. You can get a build that is not expensive with out it that dose not cost so much. From LSK: was wondering because you said you was having end problems from toggles. So u keep SS on at all times? that might be where you are loseing end, plus the leadership pool is pretty expensive when it comes to end cost."
Well, there is cost, and there is cost. I'd prefer to get more defense from Maneuvers, which benefits the whole team, than spend 3 billion on a proc. (Egalitarian of me? Self-sacrificing? Or just that darned stingy? Your call!)
SS on during missions has several practical advantages, but it's also a QoL thing, I'm not too proud to admit it. I just plain LIKE it. That's also a lot of what Cardiac is, too. When I don't have to closely monitor the blue bar like I do on some toons, I can concentrate on just doing my job tanking, and ultimately, just have a whole lot more fun.
_
Good luck building all your Alphas, Jagged! We'll be expecting a post next week when you get the 4th tier on that fourth alpha, ok? -
Ok I was on TT with my fire/ice tank that I started years ago even though it is still low level. I noticed that it needs a respec big time. ( it still had the fitness pool) So I went to twiddle a little bit on mids and here is what I came up with.

Quote:I was wondering because you said you was having end problems from toggles. So u keep SS on at all times? that might be where you are loseing end, plus the leadership pool is pretty expensive when it comes to end cost.To answer you question, LSK: "The only power pool I take is usually fighting and CJ as extra def for my tank, what other power pool you have?"
1. I have hasten, so usually I have superspeed (to save using another power pool) and leave it on in missions. I like feeling more mobile, more maneuverable, though admittedly this my be entirely subjective on my part.
2. Also have fighting pool.
3. CJ. Not just for the defense, but because it makes superspeed wonderfully maneuverable.
4. Leadership pool. Maneuvers, for more defense. If there isn't anything I prefer to take, I'll go for tactics or assault, too - I have a brute or two with vengeance, as well, because vengeance seems, so darned... brutish!
NOTE: I do have a hovering tank. Can't remember offhand if I omitted leadership, or CJ (which also makes hover much more maneuverable). I love my hovering tank, there is nothing like the rush of all the bad guys clustered under my feet trying to take a swing at me! Bit this tank, burns a fair amount of endurance using ranged attacks from the epic pool, and even vet ranged attacks if need be. (This was my first 50 tank, and based on previous experiences as a blaster, felt there was nothing for getting a bad guys' attention like a fireball between the eyes)
I really have enjoyed this thread - thank you all for posting your experiences and observations with the higher tiers of the different alphas! Great stuff in here! -
Quote:But the funny thing is lot of ppl do respec as soon as they get granite. When they do they get rid of lot of the others thinking all they need is granite. Sad but true I know.I'm not saying I think that Willpower and Invulnerability can't do it with SOs. I think any set can do it with SOs, if the player knows their stuff or is on a team . I just think that Granite is still a pretty standard benchmark for tanking AVs.
Also, I wouldn't say Stone's weak to psionic damage. It's silly to skip Minerals. Turning off Granite to tank the Psychic Clockwork King is fun. -
Another TT over with I was on the sister TF and we had fun, Almost had a team wipe on one of the mish and that was the only one ( the one where u fight axil) some how we got the multi layer map that is why. But all in all we did good.
-
First off what r u aiming for? Your def are low for tanking. How did you get all of your attacks at those lvls?
-
Well first off welcome back. Second off most people have there own SGs although there is a few out there that is not like that. Thirdly most people are in 2 of the justice chat and usually team that way for different things. The 2 chats are Justice United, and Justice for All. If you join those 2 channels you can get a team lot easier just ask a MOD of those channels to unsilence you.

Stone Armor is not a good build for Farming if that what you want it for. 1 it moves slow, 2 recharge is slowed down in granite, 3 you can not really jump if you need too. All of those mentioned is when u are in granite or rooted or both. But if you are not in either of those then you are susceptible to KB and holds and such.
-
Quote:I disagree on this, both WP and Invulnerable can also do well soloing an AV with just SO's You have to also remember there are some AVs that do psi damage which is the week point for Stone and Inv especially the ones in the Arc to get the Accolade. For taking on an AV, probably the easiest set to do it with is Stone Armor, one you get Granite. It's not a particularly forgiving set before that, but one you have Granite you can tank just about anything out of the box, without a fancy build or even anything more than SOs.
However, with a well-built team, any Tanker can hold aggro on an AV. Hell, a Scrapper can do it. My first level 50 was an Empathy/Electric Defender, and together with a friend's Broad Sword/Invuln Scrapper, we duoed just about every AV in the game... we even took on Lusca, although we gave up after two tentacles when it became clear it would take forever.
If you're looking to solo an AV, I'll leave that to more knowledgeable people in this thread, but if you just want to get through, absolutely anything can solo an EB with the right strategy, caution, and inspirations. If anyone wants to dispute that statement, I can point to my petless Mastermind, who soloed an EB in the teens, pre-inherent-Stamina. -
Quote:The only power pool I take is usually fighting and CJ as extra def for my tank, what other power pool you have?I've tried both Musculature and Nerve on different tanks, and noticed no difference whatsoever. None. Might they be noticeable at higher tiers? Maybe. Have used Spiritual and Cardiac on others, however, and the effects were both immediate, noticeable and very, very helpful.
I run a lot of toggles on my tanks. Not only from the primary, but also from the pool powers. My blue bar tends to start flagging in a log fight, regardless of how many extra end reducers I have. Thus, my default position - not only on tanks, but all my melee toons, and all for the same reason - is Cardiac, unless there is some game-making/breaking power that really needs more recharge. -
Just a reminder Tanker Tuesday tonight. Meet in KR by IP gate at 9PM EST.

Problem with that one is not every one wants to go all the way to vill then back to hero. It has been stated time and time again in this forum by a few ppl they do not wish to do that for various reasons. 1 it may be time consuming, 2 that might not be the background of the tank, 3 The concept of the tank may not be like that.

Quote:This might give you some ideas http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showthread.php?t=261846Having recently 50'd a Dark/Dark Tank my latest project is an Elec/Elec Tank. I'd like some help from the community for the build. However, if you don't mind I'd like to keep the price down. I'm mainly concerned with Recharge since Energize seems to be one of the keys of the set.
So, without Purple Sets, PvP IOs or a pile of Kinetic Combats, how do I get a solid build with near-perma Energize?
Thanks in advance for the help. -
