So you want the temp powers to only be available if there are players from both sides on the field?
-
Couldn't you mail your stuff to yourself and then reset and not loose anything?
-
There was a time we got in game rewards (costuem pieces) for bringing in new people and it got a small bit ugly.
-
I always saw the bases in BB as a choke point or speed bump.
"You managed to get all the shards now clear this base before someone gets you."
After that it's a clear shot home so unless you were already spotted you are pretty much safe. -
Quote:So either fury parts for mutants or better female bump mapping. We do have a booster pack coming out.
And one of the features is something I really really dislike.
There was one which was pretty controversial, and involved a 20 minute discussion on a topic I never imagined could happen in a conference room.
It addresses one of the most frequently asked topics.
One of the posters in this thread correctly guessed one of the features in the booster pack.
Another poster, in another thread this week correctly guessed the theme.
If I told you guys ANY of the feature(s) in it, War Witch won't let me beta test the WWTF. And I really want to try it out.
But I'll try to toss out better hints. -
Why can't we have both con exclusive items to buy and more cool items to buy online?
The current online shirts don't do it for me. -
Quote:If that's all you care about you are in the wrong zone. All of these have a negative aspect as they all require a loss of time. The first scenario only loses time if acquiring nukes though.
PvP zones are for competitive fun.
If you're goal in game is to avoid player interaction going to the zones with the most possible interaction seems excessively counter productive.
Also how does it reduce time for nukes. Two people can clear groups much faster then one. -
Quote:Nope. So you agree that the during the game play process, interaction with other players has an entirely negative aspect for the initial player?
If you team up and run the course it is quiet rewarding.
If you duck combat and escape it can be a bit of a thrill.
If you win a fight and get your goal it's awesome.
If none of that appeals to you you are in the wrong place. -
Quote:Avoiding PvPers is not losing in PvP.Fair point. The terminology is incorrect; the division is between those who place the onus of responsibility on the cooperator or the competitor. In fact, both are making choices, and neither is forced to act - nor can either dictate the response of the other to their actions.
Nothing I can disagree with here.
As long as even one person decides to PvP, this is all true. If nobody chooses to PvP, surely you will agree that the zone rewards that do not require PvP to obtain become much easier to obtain. Otherwise, the "risk of PvP" wouldn't be nearly the balancing factor it's claimed to be.
Again, this assumes that even one person has chosen to PvP at all - which is by no means an unreasonable choice for that person. It also assumes that people can choose not to lose in PvP as easily as they can choose to avoid PvP. The last I heard, that was not necessarily the case: I was given to understand that AT, sets, build, and player skill had something to do with it. Choosing to avoid PvP, on the other hand, apparently involves... resetting your alarm clock. And then getting the reward without the risk. As the developers apparently intended.
However failing to avoid PvP and then getting mad and throwing a fit is just poor sportsman ship. Expecting the other players to just let you win is poor sportsman ship.
The point of the Shivian and Missile runs are to get the prize. Running and avoiding PvP is a perfectly acceptable option.
They are PvP rewards because PvP effects them not because PvP is required.
If you get in and no PvPers are around you win.
If you get in and don't get spotted by PvPers and finish you win.
If you get in and manage to flee from a fight and finish you win.
If you finish you win.
If you leave the zone without your prize you loose. -
You are right not getting killed is optional. If someone fights you you can just die and loose your progress. Smart people choose to fight or run though. Because IT DOES effect your progress.
-
Quote:You forgot the "don't get killed by other players" part. It's the chute in your ladders. Not really, because the mechanics of those rewards are entirely PVE orintated, defeated mobs, use power on object, deliver captives. At no point during the process of getting nukes or shivians, are you required to defeat another player.
If the mechanics of those rewards required PVP there wouldn't be this whole issue. -
Quote:If you play chess by yourself you always win. PvErs in the PvP zones are trying to do that.Fundamentally different. Zero-sum game. Their win is necessarily your loss and vice versa. Not the case in PvP zones: both sides can "win" by obtaining shivans and nukes.
Fundamentally different. Zero-sum game. You can't win without playing. See above.
There are two games, being played simultaneously, on the same field. If everyone plays one game, everyone can win. If anyone plays the other game, the first game becomes harder. I just don't get why this is considered a good way to set up games.
---
Even funnier analogy it's like going onto a paintball field because you heard there was a great view...but you don't plan on playing. You may not be there to play but there is a pretty good chance if those who are see you you will be shot. -
Even if we don't get in game real ads could we use the tech that was placed in for it to rotate fake ads?
-
Quote:Same reason you do not resent the demo man who carpeted the intelligence in TF.The essential problem is that this treats PvP as a punishment for trying to get free toys, and it's a punishment that players voluntarily inflict on each other. Why would you not resent the people who punish you when they don't have to, even if they are allowed and encouraged to do so? The expectation that people will learn to enjoy the activity that is inflicted on them as punishment for trying to get what they want is, quite literally, perverse.
The same reason you don't get mad because the person you labeled goose caught you in duck duck goose.
Thats' the game.
If that is not a game you like you don't go to PvP zones because PvP is not for you. -
Quote:nopeYou know I mentioned pretty much the exact same thing waaaayy back in the thread.
The only reply I got when I said about stripping out PvE mechanics from the PvP zone was that there and turning the PvP zones into a pure PvP experience was 'we use the arena for that'. In other words PvPers don't WANT the PvE mechanics stripped out of the zone because it provides a lure and the occasional bit of drama when a PvEr wanders in to get the badges.
A lot of PvPers like the environment to be interactive. That's why FPS have more flavors then just death match. PvPers want more to do then just fight they want goals. They want rewards for those goals. They want to play games. This is what the PvP zones do. They add flavor. Flavor for PvP. PvEers feel entitled for that flavor as well but some of them ***** and moan about the meal. -

...I choose to blame you for my rediscovered fury tendencies...

That's a day job...I want a regular accolade.

Quote:Temp powers that aren't temporary would be the same as the badge...get it and forget the GM.GMs are... boring! Badge? K, get it once never need it again on that toon. Merits? Ya those are insanely easy to get. Yawn!
We need to add some spice to the mix. Make them drop something that ONLY GMs drop. Something that makes people want to hunt them besides the "Hey I need 2 more merits to do a roll can we kill a GM" moments. Some examples of such things:
1. GM recipies! We have PvP recipes, why not GM ones? Could add new recipes to areas that could use some more, like targeted AoE.
2. Temp powers! And I don't mean crappy ones that go away after you use it a few times. I mean ones that people would want because they're AWESOME. Like killing Jurassik could give you a temp power that let's you wield his godly car hammer.
3. Unique inspirations! And not any normal kind of inspiration but a super special awesome kind. A kind that would like add an -acc debuff to all your attacks or make your buffs 20% better! -
The only place a feel PvErs have a valid complaint is the villain accolade and this is only because there is no hero PvP accolade overlap. Moving either one of the hero badges into or the villain out of PvP would both give an equality that removes ground for complaint. Now one of these options will make peoples heads explode (and rightfully so) so I couldn't see it as a real option.
I see all the prizes gained in PvP zones as PvP prizes rather you are required to PvP for them or not because they expose you to PvP. I do wish there were PvP accolades though. The power could be like "Plan B: Years of conflict have taught you that sometimes one must regroup. +Speed(minor) +Fly(minor) +Jump(minor) +Stealth(extreem) 30 sec duration 0 Cast 1 hour recharge" -
You're using a 286? Don't make me laugh!
Your Windows boots up in what, a day and a half?
You could back up your whole hard drive on a floppy diskette.
You're the biggest joke on the Internet!
Your database is a disaster.
You're waxing your modem; trying to make it go faster.
Hey fella, I bet you're still living in your parents' cellar
downloading pictures of Sarah Michelle Gellar.
And posting "Me too!" like some brain dead AOLer.
I should do the world a favor and cap you like Old Yeller.
You're just about as useless as jpegs to Hellen Keller! -
-
I'ld like to see more shiny metal options. Specifically capes, jackets, and weapons.

Quote:There used to be but since it was visible even if you had rep off people complained till it was removed.Just a follow up on my cluelessness about this system...
I always thought there was some sort of inbox for all rep, good and bad.
I'm sad to learn that there isn't... Because, after reading this thread, I did go and check some of my posts.
And I received some really nice positive rep that I never even knew I was given.
So, thank you to all the anonymous people out there who said nice things to me.
That being said... quote and reply to a post if you like it!
(Not this one though... anyone that quotes and replies to this one is a smelly dungselflinoidkin)
