Quote:Did PayPal have your current phone number?Part of my problem was that I was in Japan doing many more important things than worrying about this situation as a primary concern. Had I been home and had a little more free time I might have gotten it resolved more quickly. You have to understand from NSsoft's point of view I had screwed them out of the blue by taking my money back from them. They initially had no idea I had nothing to do with PayPal's decision to reverse my payment. It doesn't really surprise me that they had to get a senior customer rep involved. Water under the bridge and all that.
While this episode with PayPal was sad and annoying I wasn't about to get my lawyer involved in a dispute over a $9.99 transaction. Besides my account had already been banned before I could do anything about it. A letter from a lawyer might have reduced the time it was locked by a few days but not prevented it from happening in the first place. You do realize that many people around the world consider Americans to be a little "sue-happy" don't you? Lawyers aren't the appropriate answer for everything you know.
The main point to my post was that PayPal is likewise not the "miracle cure" to these kinds of things. Sure it's great for the things it can do, but there are risks/consequences that people need to be aware of. The lesson learned is that you need to watch PayPal like a hawk so that they don't things "on your behalf" you don't expect. -
BRUTE - a blaster I saw (was sporting the "Tank" badge)

You want to play in Virtue Pocket D while on Justice?

I just wanted to say I do enjoy reading your posts when you avoid delivering it via unnecessary backhand. Very good information here.

It's kinda like having a horridly burnt face you normally cover with a ski mask.
You are going to have to take off that mask to bank in person.
I just like the idea of a person getting mad he can't wear his ski mask to the bank. -
Quote:See a demon should have the ability to block such a power and the PPD database would only have info on the cover identity. Although I don't know why you would want secrets of you past in the bio, seems like it would ruin the reveal.See, I disagree with 'My character has access to x information off the bat'. For example, there was one guy in PD who's bio blithely stated that 'whoever he looks into the eyes of he knows there past'.
Sorry...what? Seriously? Go to hell. He tried it with a chacter who I've since deleted, a demonette assassin who disguised herself as human. He tried to instantly have all the background I'd written in her biog, clearly ignoring the stuff explaining her being disguised and such.
This is basically de-generating into finger pointing on who has right of way. "My character has access to this information, how dare you say he cant!" "My character is totally unknown, how dare you say you know them."
Give and take in equal measure. Show people some courtesy to their concept, and you'll get some in return. I for one don't agree with "X powerset makes them a villain."
Examples;
Thugs mastermind? Bunch of street kids who've decided they don't want to live in a dump and are taking on the local gangs, with the smaller but brainier kid making the plans. Mercs? Private group who are taking on crime either because their being paid by the City or simply for justice. Necromancy? A channeler who gives the spirits of those who are murdered a temporary physical form long enough to see justice done, in exchange for helping the City.
And there are plenty of ways to play a Stalker without 'stabbing people in the back'. -

Quote:And some RPers simply don't believe that is true. All of my Paragon residents have access to the PPD's database through the scanner which is how they identify threats and know criminals. If you are freely operating as a powered individual in Paragon they will be able to identify you if not by birth name then by powered persona and a rough summary of abilities. That's sort of my point: unless the character has been told where the other character in question is from, IC, they have no realistic way of knowing another toon's affiliation and AT.
Also, the registration document isn't a badge that characters wear, so IC information held on it shouldn't be used unless you go to City Hall and RP reading up on it.
Now my Isle residents are a bit of a mix, some using the same or similar tech and others flying blind. Also depending on /info even the ones in the know might not be able to identify someone who has no record in Paragon. I'm not even touching on my two psychics.
To claim another character must interact with you in a certain way is not role playing it's God moding. The game world itself supports a wide range of provabilities and your expectations of another character's limits are unfair. -

Quote:Can't be too hard to get since all you have to do is pop down to the D.Thank you for this post. It just proves that this is all a futile endeavour if that is what you take from Forbin's statement.
It is a case of can use emote versus should use emote.
Cindersnap, a Paragon hero who has never set foot in Praetoria, can use ;drinkenriche.
Considering it's very hard to get outside of Praetoria, should he use that willy nilly? Or the Protest Resistance/Loyalist Placards?
No.
Same for Paragon Police Department Scanner in Praetoria. -
Quote:Your point being?Nice try but everyone knows about /e listenpoliceband from the emote list on the
Better luck next time Lisar.
So when you roleplay emotes can't be used either?
So is War Witch not drinking in Pocket D since she never goes "/em sips the colling dark liquid over the rim of her cup."?
Why bother using a structured environment if you wish to toss the game's canon and graphical properties out the window?
--edit--
Also so far I've counted the explicit reference to AT twice in the first comic of the second publisher.
In narrative Manticore refers to State's a their Tank and when he mentions the world being full of blasters and scrappers. -

I would greatly enjoy new no recharge rest even if it dropped combat toggles, suppressed non combat ones, was unslotable, had a taunt aura, and increased threat level (to make you a more likely target if more then one is available).

You're telling me my police scanner with a holographic display doesn't do face recognition or have database access to the files that allow me assess power level and alignment of other people.
Cause I'm having a hard time believing the giant holographic image and portable wrist projector was designed to make cops feel cool (unless it's to make them feel cool when they are working with people who bend time and space or bench press cargo ships). -
I don't enjoy solo play till about level 8 or 12.
Teaming I enjoy up till a new power set comes out that makes me reroll (on my main that has not happened yet so indefinitely for emp/rad).
I'm about to roll an evil evil praetorian as soon as I figure out what hero AT I want it to be.
I've got nothing of value to add but I like to type.
LOOK AT ME!
LOOK AT ME!
---edit---
I remembered my point...I fully empathize with soloists not getting much out of Pretoria if they don't like playing characters who haven't started coming into there powers. -
If you really enjoy nothing from the last year of development there is a high probability you are not the target audience for the product.
-
I am right now not playing because MNP went into the kitchen since rest was down so he decided to make himself a sandwich...DAMN YOU REST RECHARGE!

Quote:If only this ad was printed on something they would have in their house with a website url on it. Then we wouldn't have to worry about them seeing it in passing and not remembering they wanted ot check it out.Making people work to figure out things isn't good marketing. The oversized main pictures don't scream supers genre.
And it still doesn't address the lack of explaining this is an MMORPG.
There are some very popular commercials that are notorious in the marketing world in that people who remember the commercial can't remember what was being advertised.
It's as simple as:
"For six years City of Heroes has been the most popular and widely acclaimed MMORPG of super powered heroes and villains." -
When you roleplay counter to game design you can't expect everyone you meet to just go with it.
