i would like to see something more like having all of the zones be travel-able to by all players. i just think that, in comics, you can see a vilain walking down the street, but if you arent catching them doing something wrong, you really cant attack them. so... players of a different allignment would simply spawn grey and targetable but unattackable... UNLESS, you send an invitation or threat or challenge and it is accepted, then PVP can happen right then and there in the middle of say - atlas park. but that would be limited to the players involved in the duel.

all contacts would still be for that particular allignment, and pvp zones would remain the same, with open pvp, and co-op zones would also remain the same. the only change would be that players can now go to zones not of their original allignemnt and roam freely or do missions there, and should you encounter a member of the opposite allignment, offer a challenge or, depending on their settings [always pvp, pvp only with inviation, or no pvp except pvp zones] then perhaps a batle can ensue!

always pvp would put you into a mode where players of the opposite allignment can attack you at any time and once they attack you, you can attack back [unless they too are always pvp in which case you can attack them first]. members of your own allignment though cant attack you in a zone of your own allignment. rogues and vigilantes have potential to attack anyone or be attacked by anyone depending on settings, invitations, and zone.

i would probably merge some of the smaller maps. especially hero side.

does that make sense? :/ im sure it will never happen but that's what i'd like to see.
Yea I didn't mean seemless world that probably can't happen in a game as old as this designed the way it was.

I meant more of a "no such thing as zones only one side or the other can access".
  2. I'd like to suggest doing away with the concept of Villain Zones and Hero Zones. Cooperative zones would remain the same -- places villains and heroes can group up and work together. Former Hero and Villain zones would still disallow such grouping. One side or the other would see more friendly npc's based on their alignment and the zone they currently occupy.

There's a huge world that can be explored if we remove these artificial alignment barriers for both sides. There's no reason there can't be contacts in Paragon City for villains to get missions from... hell they could even be variants of existing hero missions from a villain point of view. The same goes for heroes in the Rogue Isles. Doing away with barrier opens the world up and can open new content to both sides.

Sure the zones may have more content for one alignment over the other depending on which zone you go to, but overall it could be a great way to add content without too much work involved as far as art assets are concerned.

Examples of places villains can easily acclimate to Paragon:

Faultline - heavy Arachnos presence in the southern section.
Atlas Park - There's a story arc that has a significant Arachnos presence in a phased part of atlas.
The Hollows - The entire southern section of the Hollows is dominated by the Circle of Thorns and virtually no missions take you there. It's ripe for development.
Brickstown - The Zig Need I say more? Might even be a great place to reuse the old villain Breakout map!
Independence Port/Talos - Both are ports with smugglers ships. Plenty of places for villains to find fun. One has a strong Family presence which can be used as a plot element to take a villain from the Rogue Isle's to Paragon City. The other has many islands out of the way with little reason to go there currently. Great place for villains to do stuff.
Peregrine Island - Villains already have their own version of part of this zone... why not simply make it the same zone and let them run rampant?
Striga is so far out from Paragon there's little reason it can't be a cooperative zone.

For heroes it's even easier... The Rogue Isles are just rife with villain and crimes and groups like Longbow, Legacy Chain and various benign NPC's who try to thwart the villains or make cameos as victims in the villain missions can have missions for heroes to fight back.

Villains by far would see the biggest amount of content increase if for no other reason by the sheer number of zones that would open up to them but it would also allow heroes to visit areas seldom seen and make the game feel fresher and newer IMO.

This idea can be a great way to add content with little relative development time required compared to what is opened up for both sides. Art assets would be unnecessary to add in most cases. Some assets that are seldom used now could see a revival (like the breakout map).

I wasn't watching buff icons... just my pet combat log ( i set up a tab specific to my pets and all that they do). It shows when Phantom Army and Phantasms receive the buffs or when they do doublehit if you went that route. It works the same way for the buildup proc purple pet IO
  4. The only way I can see Blasters getting the love they truly need is for the devs to expand our power selections within our primary and secondaries... have some things be mutually exclusive (like how widows have the choose between build up or follow-up). This allows the devs to add new stuff to every set (though we don't get more powers, just a bigger variety to choose from within the set) and still hold true to the cottage rule so those who like things as they are can stay as they are. I'm not saying double the number of powers withing every set but 2 to 3 new powers as alternate choices sounds like a win idea to me.

This would benefit quite a few AT's I think but Blasters the most because it sidesteps the biggest roadblock to addressing blaster issues (the cottage rule). Not to mention it would just be great for the game overall since we'd have even more variety within our respective primary/secondary sets allowing players to individualize themselves even more.
  5. Can we get this belt (for both male and female)?

I noticed it on a merit vendor in Sharkhead near the Black Market and thought it looked great. We need this! Oh and make the gem in the middle of the buckle colorable with a 2nd color!

  6. While I don't expect this unique IO to be global... I'd love to see a new knockback IO set introduced that features a proc like this... say with no secondary function... just "turns KB into KD for the power you slot this into". I wouldn't even care what the set bonuses were like. If I had a non unique IO that could turn KB into KD I'd gladly rip out a damage proc from those powers to put this in.

While I am not one of those people who views KB as "teh eval" I do find it terribly annoying on many characters. Not even so much the scatter but the whole knocking mobs out of range and me having to move... or knocking a mob with a debuff toggle into another group... I'd gladly use an IO that removes that annoying factor from the powers even if that means giving up slotting something else in its place or using another slot in the power if I hadn't intended to 6 slot it.

You guys have been pretty good in the past at giving the players what they want within reason but I can't fathom why there is such a small selection of Targeted AoE sets, only 3 if you remove the purple and PvP sets. Development time can't be the reason seeing there have been many additional sets released since IOs were made available. The only thing I can think of is either:

#1) You guys aren't aware of the lack of TAoE recipes
#2) You guys don't care there is a lack of TAoE recipes
#3) You guys mistakenly think the lack of selection is okay
#4) You guys think the ATIOs and this new set make up for the limited selection.
Perhaps you missed it... but the set this KB/KD IO comes from is a UNIVERSAL DAMAGE SET. That means it can be slotted into Targeted AOE damage powers
  8. My guess is that the next incarnate slot will NOT have a level shift and the Omega slot WILL... being lvl 54 seems like a nice number to stop at at least until they expand the incarnate system beyond Omega.

Assault when decked out is like a 50% uptime build up. That's really pretty damned good. If you take build up on your character, why the heck would you not take this?

Melee is pretty nice as well, though I can understand why people might have complains. People like to have a consistent level of performance. They don't like to be spikey. However melee is still a 50% uptime 'oh crap' power which can do some pretty impressive stuff for your survival. This is without a crash.

But sure, if you don't like that spikey survival feeling, then take assault and think of it like build up. The others I didn't even really consider. I don't much like controller types, and I've never cared for team buffs which are part time. Before they made the powers part time, I would have been all over support. However I could not have run it full time on the alt I wanted with the endurance cost they had projected. As it stands now that alt has assault since I don't want to have a team which is getting buffed by my character lose that buff at the wrong time. I can control when I need some help, I can't control it for the rest of a team.
I don't think it's an issue of the powers being weak or anything like that. I think its just that for many of us we're at such a saturation point of clickies yet another one is just a button to push and not something that is an integral part of us becoming more powerful. I'm not sure I have the right words to convey my point but I will try.

Alpha and Interface are flat out improvements in your power. Alpha is always on and Interface while having chances to proc are still fairly consistent. I feel more powerful having them without needing to do anything special to make them work.

Destiny buffs can become perma at tier 4 (3 for clarion) and while their benefits diminish over time, at the perma mark they are basically a part of your character now and to some degree are always doing something. For squishies in particular perma Clarion can be game changing.

Judgement and Lore are dps cooldowns. They are buttons to push but their impact is greatly felt. Who doesn't smile when they see a huge group of mobs, hit their Judgement, and all but the bosses die in an instant? Lore allows for longer duration consistent dps and more personal safety. It's not a particularly interesting ability but it's useful. The biggest impact of Lore however is its LEVEL SHIFT imo.

Hybrid is like Lore but worse to me. Hybrid has a negligible passive boost that's nice to have but hardly anything you'd miss. It's another clickie you have to manage amongst many. It's active effects are useful don't get me wrong but in most cases anything you could defeat with Hybrid you can defeat without just as easily. It has no level shift to give it any intrinsic "I am more powerful for having this!" feel. Hybrid to me is like taking Force of Nature from an APP. It's nice to have but having that button when half the time I probably won't need to use it doesn't exactly excite me or scream "fun" or "more powerful" to me.

There is no barrier save ones own ignorance. One has the power to educate themselves if they choose to.

If you see things are more expensive than your typical earnings in game and wonder why.... ASK SOMEONE! It's THAT simple to make money.

    Broadcast:

NEWBIE SAYS: "Can anyone tell me how to make influence to afford expensive IO's? Or how to get expensive IO's in game?"

EXPERIENCE GUY SAY: "Sure you can use reward merits from doing story arcs via Ouroboros or use Alignment merits through tips and Signature Story Arcs to buy expensive recipes, craft em and use or sell em!"

OTHER EXPERIENCED GUY SAYS: "I make inf farming Architect missions that favor my power sets and use the tickets to get recipes and expensive salvage to use or sell!"

YET ANOTHER EXPERIENCED GUY SAYS: "I just play the market. I find things in high demand, place lowball bids in bulk and then resell at a huge mark up!"

If you never ask questions your ignorance is your own fault. You have the power to change but it is up to you to make the effort by asking questions.
  11. After specific testing with my Ill/Rad using Assault Hybrid, I can confirm the following:

    * Pets will only benefit from Hybrid when summoned AFTER Hybrid has been activated
    * When Hybrid is deactivated pets will lose their benefits even if the pet duration lasts beyond the Hybrid duration.
    * Phantom Army and Phantasm are both benefiting from Doublehit or the stacking damage buff (depending on which route you choose).

Assault seems far more useful to me than Control since the pets do not benefit from the Waylay mechanic currently. If that changes then Control Hybrid may have some value but I think Assault will win out for Ill/Rad since they don't have reliable methods of inducing aoe control. With that said there's something to be said for the Control Hybrid's Waylay mechanic since it is triggered by Confusion and Fear both of which illusion has.

EDIT: Also to add in cases where the Hybrid toggle bugs out and doesn't shut off, your pets will NOT gain benefits beyond the alotted time even though it may appear your toggle is still on past its duration. You'll also find the cooldown does not begin till you turn off the "non-working" toggle.
  12. For me Hybrid is just forgettable. Turning it on makes no significant difference to me like other incarnate powers. Half the time, as I predicted, I forget it's even there.

Clarion MATTERS to me. I feel like hitting that button is important. Judgement is exciting to hit when it's available cause I know lots of stuff is gonna get fried. I feel a huge change in both mob defeat speed and personal safety when I have my Lore pets out. My spiritual Alpha has a HUGE impact on what I can do even though it's passive. My reactive interface not only noticeably improved my dps all the time, it makes me smile to see the debuff visual effect on mobs tell me that reactive is doing stuff.

Hybrid? Hybrid is a button I hit sometimes if I remember it's there and I can't even tell if it's doing anything or not. It certainly doesn't feel like it's doing much (and that's purely subjective on my part). I just don't feel like Hybrid is important in any real way for me. As an "on all the time" toggle, it would be because then it would be a part of my overall performance. But just having yet another cooldown click to hit that isn't exactly impressive even at the higher levels doesn't make me feel more powerful. It's just Ross and Rachel from Friends all over again: an on again/off again relationship that just gets real old real fast.

Some highlights of my comments from the beta forum about hybrid which I still feel now that it is live:

    Quote:
I want to want Hybrid. Right now I don't care about it
    Quote:
I could craft a kinetic shield temp power and get more reliable performance and power increase out of it then I will Hybrid as it currently stands.
    Quote:
I want to feel like slotting this power makes me powerful. Not just gives me another button I wont hit half the time because I'm worried about saving it for just the right occasion, or worse, because I've forgotten it's even there. If I can "forget" I have this button to push it isn't really that worthwhile a button now is it?

From what others have deduced you have to activate the assault hybrid power before you summon your pets for them to benefit.

Also Phantom Army should be benefiting from both stacking damage buff or doublehit since it inherits these effects when summoned during hybrid's uptime. It has been demonstrated that Phantom Army can buff itself when given the ability to do so (purple pet IO proc for buildup). Hybrid's self stacking damage buff and doublehit should both work for Phantom Army though I haven't gone over that with a fine tooth comb yet to be sure they actually are.

From what I have read elsewhere it seems pets to not trigger the control hybri'd damage effects regardless of whether they are summoned after Hybrid is activated or not.
  16. Has there been any update yet as to when we can expect the changes to crafted IO procs to go live and if there has been any change from what Synapse laid out in his original post?

Or did I somehow miss this with the release of I23?
  17. I am not a fan of trials in any capacity though since Mag is the only way to unlock the slot I had no alternative but to run it. I am one of the people who have unlocked Hybrid through 4 trials (3 failures and 1 success) and now have no desire whatsoever to return. Thankfully I need nothing else from the trial.
  18. Count me as one of the people "allergic" to leadership roles and forming groups. With that said I appreciate how good I have it in COH that I can do plenty solo, I have the LFG system to use and I can watch the channels and if something forms I have an interest in I can jump on it with little fuss.

It might be nice if they had an "always open" option like the celestial wings have.
  20. I post my suggestions (and believe me I've posted quite a few) here simply to say I did. I got the idea out of my head and into public view in the hopes that the devs see something they like and make it a reality.

Not every idea is great but even the bad ones can lead to inspiration for something grand. But even if the suggestions aren't acted upon it doesn't make this forum useless. Sometimes there's just limitations whether technical or financial that can hold back even the greatest of ideas.

I have about 20 suggestions in this forum over the years. At least one became reality (whether inspired by my suggestion or not). I feel this forum has it's place whether we posters see our ideas implemented or not.

Ok so the passive +dmg doesn't apply to the pets, but they can stack the +dmg buff on themselves, even Phantom Army (normally not buffable from outside sources but can be buffed by it's own abilities such as the pet build up purple IO.).

The question is will double-hit or the stacking damage buff be the better choice? I understand right now pets are getting a higher modifier from the buff and that might be changed in the future. I'm also wondering if the energy damage from the double-hit might be the better way to go in the case of illusory damage vs real damage. I know only unenhanced damage heals back but I fairly confident double hit doesn't have any heal back either. I am trying to decide which would be the better route to go with a future nerf to the pet stacking buff in mind.

I just wish there was a built in way to do it and not rely on outside software that could stop being updated at the drop of a hat.
  23. While there are already a couple fan made utilities to allow this some have been left without updates and others are just very limited. Why not actually build the functionality into the UI to allow the players to use a picture of their choosing for the login screen and give them control over the coloring of the UI text!

Such a feature allows players to stick with login screens they've liked in the past as new ones come out or even turn a screenshot of a favored character into their new login screen. A function could even be added to allow a random login screen to be chosen at each startup.
  24. I beat him tonight in my second attempt. I am not sure exactly what we did differently but around 18% health he suddenly transitioned and I couldn't see exactly what caused it. I know we handled the lights pretty consistently and avoided too many face plants to the lightning. I wish I could get a clear picture of how the mechanics work though.

With radial they do double hit but it's still up in the air for me which is better as I can't make an accurate comparison with Core version being bugged/overpowered. So for now Core far exceeds Radial.

Would it be safe to assume that illusion's Phantom Army and Phantasm would benefit in the same manner as MM pets? And does the passive +dmg also affect pets as well?
