  1. All my fears of Dooooooom in one post. Huzzah!
  2. I turn off XP to finish out my contacts so I don't outlevel them, but I only do it before I reach the next level. For example, I don't turn it off as soon as I reach the last bubble before I ding from level 9 to level 10. Since I would lose my level 5-9 contacts if I reached level 10, I don't want to do that.

By staying in that time frame, I get a little bit more influence and drops. Granted they are big time at that level, but every little bit helps. Another thing I do is the radio/paper missions and the bank missions to get introduced to all the contacts from my Detective/Broker.

Another thing I do is AE missions to get tickets. I cash in the tickets for level 12 enhancements for my level 9 character. I didn't have to spend any INF on the enhancements, any I get via regular missions I can sell.

This may not work for everyone, but it works for me. As I run higher level characters, I switch to DO or SO enhancements. Haven't really swapped to IO lately, but just started this process in the last month or so.

I really love this turn off XP feature. I have to check on one toon that I just thought of. Because of radio missions and bank mission in the level 20 -29 period (not sure right off hand), I had some computer connection difficulty and I am not sure if I outleveled a certain bank mission before I got the exploration badge.
  3. I bought my copy from Amazon.com.
  4. Actually, I don't mind soloing. I simply offered the opportunity in case anyone was looking for a team.

I was just incredibly shocked at how empty the zone was when I looked around.
  5. I finally decided to start leveling a lowbie I had rolled several months ago named Bic Chic, a Fire/Thermal Controller. After getting her through her first contact and reaching level 5, I moved to Kings Row to do some radio missions.

Put out a call to see if anyone wanted to team and heard nothing back. Didn't think anything of it at the time, then I noticed I wasn't seeing any chatter whatsoever.

So I entered /whoall and saw I was the only one listed in the zone. I do realize that it won't list anyone who is in a mission, but it was still a little disconcerting. Granted Champion is no Freedom or Virtue when it comes to population, but it does have a good, solid mid-level set of regular players.

I have seen various posts that show number of subscribers, but based on number of players I seen in various zones, I wonder how many of the paid subcriptions have actual active players?

I've never had problems transferring infamy. On the toon that needs money i simply pick a low level unwanted enhancement with no bids and sell it for millions of infamy.

No way is someone stupid enough to buy it for that much, if they do, hey great I made money.

    [/ QUOTE ]

But you get hit with the posting fee. And if someone was selling the same thing for 1 inf, you'd buy theirs instead...

    [/ QUOTE ]
So when you get to the toon that will be buying the enhancement for an unimaginable amount, you look to see how many are for sale, if more than 1, place low bids until it shows only one, try another low bid, if still no sale, try for amount you want to transfer.

All it takes is awareness of what is going on.
  7. However, the Raptor Pack is available for sale in Firebase Zulu.
  8. The only way I found is to join a team of the appropriate level and get exemplared down to their level. Try broadcasting your desired on your server Badge Channel.

    Should I craft?

    Slightly related question.

I know one of the side benefits of memorizing certain recipes will open more salvage storage and recipe storage space on your character.

I know another side benefit is to get the Field Crafter badge which yields the Portable Workbench power.

Beyond these two, what is the purpose of memorizing this recipes? Generally, of what use will my character have of crafting a level 10 Accuracy when my character is at level 50?
  10. [ QUOTE ]
Why not just craft them and put them in the enhancment storage bin?

    [/ QUOTE ]
Because if you craft it, you are stuck with it and the extra cost of crafting it. If it turns out that it is no longer needed, you are out that money.

Storing the recipe would allow that to remain an option with no extra cost attached.
  11. Biggest difference is this:
Good Vs. Evil: current through Issue 7
Architect: current through 14 (most recent edition on live)

If you are purchasing the boxed edition, I would recommend Architect Edition. That way, you will only have to download the most recent patches since Architect Edition was issued.

If you purchase the Good Vs. Evil Edition, you will have to wait for Issues 8 through 14 to download as well as the latest patches, which will take longer.

Once you have an active account, you can alway buy the Good Vs. Evil Goodie Pack to get the cool stuff from that edition.

  13. Hmmm. To make it match up for both sides, perhaps have the science requirement on both sides be U'kon G'rai in RWZ.

Then it really becomes an accolade worth working towards from both sides.
  14. This is not my original idea. I saw someone post this idea somewhere else and now I can't find it, but it seems to fit better in this topic.

There should be badge for being involved in the defeat of several or all Giant Monsters.

Since Blueside has more GM's than Redside, it was suggested that it would be harder to obtain the badge on the Blueside.

Two alternatives that have been submitted is:

1: Have the badge linked to 5 GM defeats, one associated with each Origin type.

2: With Going Rogue coming down the pipeline, set the badge so that all GM's must be defeated on both Blueside and Redside to obtain badge, or perhaps set up a badge for each GM and have a group of them linked to create an appropriate Accolade Badge.

    Any other suggestions?
  15. Don't forget to pop an orange and purple inspiration before clicking that last item.

Makes you just a little bit more survivable while running for the door.

    End game in CoX?

    [ QUOTE ]
I've been playing since mid-2004, and I still haven't done everything there is to do. I've done most of it, mind. But not all of it.

There's still some story arcs I haven't done - mostly villain ones. It's really really hard to do every single story arc on your way to 50. Chances are you're gonna skip over stuff, as I have. And, hell...I've not done all the 45-50 villain arcs yet, much less the lower-level ones.

    Viva Ouroboros! Endless fun.

I've taken to turning off my "Earn XP" before I outlevel my contacts, so I don't fly by them. That has to be one of the best features added that I absolutely love!

If I were just starting the game, I probably would do the race to 50 to unlock the Hero or Villain Epic Archetypes, but now that I have them unlocked, I can take the time to enjoy the content at all levels.
  18. Point of fact. We now have the option to turn off "Earn Xp". If you want to complete your contacts and not outlevel them, just turn off xp in your options.

Example. You have a contact that works from levels 5-9. When you reach that last 1 or 2 bubbles of level 9, turn off your xp and you can finish your contacts. When they are finished, turn it back on when you are doing last mission or purpose do some street sweeping and ding to level 10 fairly quickly.
  19. True, it is lowkey and not even game breaking. If you were stuck and couldn't get out, that would be a different issue.
  20. Ok, so this weekend, I had several characters ding at 21+ days offline, so I figured I would do the Day Trade Shuffle.

Several of my villains had been created because I would think of a cool name that I had to use while I thought about it, got to level 2 and they just sat there, collecting dust, and recently, day trader badges.

So I decided to get these level 2 villains run through their first contact (which ended with them reaching level 5). When I got to the mission from Kalinda titled "Eliminate the Infected", I was tired of the long run to the other end of the island.

I would use Mission Transporter power from Mac Edition to get to the mission door and Self Destruct from the Cyborg Booster Pack to get back. When doing the Mission transporter for several toons, I discovered that there were two different doors that would generate most often.

One would be along a long broadside of a warehouse and the other would be in the short wall of an L-shaped section of a warehouse. Everytime I would end up at the L-shaped section door, I would teleport inside the wall next to the door.

It was quite funny, actually. I could rotate just right so I could reach the door and click on it and I would pop out of the wall and enter the door for the mission.

Once, I appeared while several Snakes were reclining next to where I appeared. They attacked me immediately and I back up and was able to get far enough inside the wall that they couldn't attack me, but I was still able to attack them.

I have sent a bug report to technical help, but I was wondering if anyone would care to try it and see if they encounter the same issue?
  21. When you mentioned that you would go red while fighting, you didn't mention what you were fighting. What damage the mobs tend to do depends on what you are fighting.

If you are fighting Vazhilok Zombies, they do toxic damage and usually a low level tank will have no defense against toxic damage. Then you become as squishy as a blaster.

Survivability comes from teamwork. Controllers to hold mobs in place and debuff, Defenders to buff and heal, Scrappers and Blasters to do megadamage. Tanks keep the mobs away from everyone else so they can do their job.

If you are getting hurt fast, someone else on the team may not be doing their job.

    New Hero

    [ QUOTE ]
I started in Galaxy City, and the first few times I came across Longbow, I kept trying to kill them, and wondered why the game wouldn't let me attack.

    [/ QUOTE ]
I agree, there is definitely something sinister about Longbow.

When I first saw them, I would see them walk across the parking lot behind Atlas Park City Hall. Oddly enough, this was about 2 weeks after I had started playing and was wondering who these newcomers were, I had seen Council, Outcasts, Hellions and Clockwork, and these guys scared me even more.

    Minor issue

You may want to try to have something open in the background. I usually have my internet browser open and up so when I alt-tab, it switches to that program very well.

When I tried it without the browser open, I had trouble getting the alt-tab to work.
