Manticore and Ghost Widow are switching sides in issue 17? Is that even possible?
[/ QUOTE ]
It might be possible, but I think it's more likely that the Praetorian version of Manticore is a villain and the Praetorian version of Ghost Widow is a hero.
[/ QUOTE ]We already know about Manticore, he's a villain named Chimera. -

Thanks for the MA and SS vids. But I fail to see what is so exhausting about sitting there talking to people.

You've obviously never been to / worked at a convention booth.
Imagine a mile-long hike, through a swamp. A noisy, hot, smelly swamp.
That's one-way through the con building. Now, imagine that around 50 thousand people are also trying to go through that same smelly loud swamp. To get to YOU. To ask you questions. You have to stand there, make sure your booth isn't falling apart, making sure that no one's stealing your equipment, creating nasty words on your screens, badmouthing your product, trying to get company secrets, asking valid questions that require 20+ minutes to answer...
If you have ever worked retail or food during a huge lunch rush? Multiply that by about 60x and you have a brief glimpse of the convention.
Oh yes: they're not sitting. There are a total of 2 chairs at that booth and one of them was Nakayama's. they did have a little back room but "little" being the key word there. They stand 10 hours a day doing this.
Try it some day. Guaranteed that if you spend most of your time behind a computer desk typing? You're not gonna want to stand more than an hour before you get a huge back and foot ache.
[/ QUOTE ]Try my job. I work in factory walking around 8-12 hours a day, sometimes 7 days a week, in steel toed boots on a concrete floor. I work with 300 degree steam heated presses. The temp and humidity are often quite high, and added on top of heavy lifting and manual labor. I do that at least 5 days a week, at least 8 hours a day every week of the year. So give me a break, standing around in a crowded Con for a couple of days is nothing. -

The news release of Going Rogue seemed really iffy, like it was not meant to go out, then Posi had to do damage control by making it an official announcement, that was in May.
[/ QUOTE ]I've thought all along that it would be a 2010 release, though I'd be more than happy to be wrong.
I also believe that the announcement was "accidentally leaked" as a calculated effort to quash the massive civil war that was brewing over the MA debacle. Give 'em something big, shiny and new to drool over and anticipate so they have something else to talk about. -
CoV beta started in mid August and the live game launched on Halloween, so about 2 1/2 months. I don't know the break down between open/closed. This game has an even bigger dynamic included with the side switching and should take longer to test, figuring on at least 3 months. It'd be pushing it to get it out this year yet. And releasing it too close to the holidays could mean lots of bugs to squash right before they take time off. Not to mention the inevitable Winter event right around the corner from then.

The lack of info on GR really shows that it won't be out anytime this year and probably not in Q1 of next year.
[/ QUOTE ]
I think this is a false and irresponsable statement based on nothing, that only leads to more gloom and doom. Closed beta for issue 16 starts next week or soon there after, it probably won't go live untill mid September. That leaves three months to get GR out before Christams and I think there is a good chance that is what they are aiming for.
It is much more likely that they want to consentrate on building hype for Issue 16 before starting the really marketing push for GR.
Of course i could be wrong, it's just an opinion, but stating GR won't come out in the next 7-8 motnhs is also just a geuss with no real facts to base that negative assumption.
[/ QUOTE ]It's just as much baseless speculation on your part. Where does it say anywhere that Going Rogue will be the next thing to come after Issue 16? There's basically only 5 months left this year. With at least one month of I16 beta (I'd guess closer to 2 with all the new powers), that would leave precious little time to beta test what is supposed to be a massive addition. Couple that with the dearth of Going Rogue information, and it looks like it will be later rather than sooner. Only pie eyed optimism sees it coming this year. I'd be happy to be wrong though. -

HAHAH.. I find how many pple complain in general to be assuming. Whine whine whine. These forums thread are hilarious. No matter what the devs do, or what they give us in game, pple complain. I can't wait to see how many complaints come out when i16 comes out. I can see em already... "what? why do we have 8 shades of blue and not 9", or "what.. we just got almost everything we've been asking about for the past 5 years, but they nerfed my AE farm... ARRRRGH" [censored] pple. If I were to give u 1bill dollars in cold hard gold coins, someone would complain about it being to heavy. WHAT I TRYING TO SAY IS... how bout just once some of u try saying thank u devs... instead of cursing them all the time.
[/ QUOTE ]So you add to it by complaining about complaining? Useful. -
[ QUOTE ]
This is the same issue as SG bases and losing them when you cross over: The answer is to have a VG base ready to accept your hero and a SG base ready to accept your villain and switch both.
So.. have a level 50 hero and a level 50 villain ready for both to switch. Or, have several 50s on each side.
Otherwise, you're out of luck. If you only have one level 50, and thus only one side unlocked for EATs, and it switches sides, then you still have only one level 50 and only one side is unlocked for EATs.
[/ QUOTE ]Pure speculation on your part. -

Powers can be individually customized per costume slot, but not supergroup mode.

'k. [Insert some complaint here]. There ya go.
[/ QUOTE ]Don't forget the obligatory "somebody complaining about other complaining" post. -
I can't believe that people actually see Desdemona as "chunky" or "thick". I weep for our society that considers anything more than skin and bones to be chunky or thick.

If you're not praising the game, your opinion doesn't count. Or so I've come to realize.
[/ QUOTE ]
Bull[WARNING EXPLICIT LYRICS].
There is a world of difference between a well-reasoned argument against, or complaint with the game and the type of ranting that is common here, and has been displayed in this thread specifically.
Anyone not understanding that needs to seriously re-examine their understanding of social interactions.
[/ QUOTE ]Thank you for so eloquently proving my point. -

Somehow I knew they'd wait to "flip the switch" until after I left for work. At least I was able to use my phone to buy it (and post this) so it'll be ready and waiting when I get home.

If everything goes according to plan... cross your fingers.
[/ QUOTE ]So how long is the gorram store going to be down? Knowing my luck, until late mid afternoon/early evening while I'm at work. -
[ QUOTE ]
No. It's not double-dipping.
The monthly fee is access to the game and it's built-in content only. That's all.
The Super Boosters are a non-essential add-on. It gets you a few extra frilly's that are nice to have, but not necessary for gameplay.
If you don't like or want what is in the Booster, don't buy it. You aren't missing out on a thing in your game experience. If it's something you want or like, buy it. It won't make your character more Uber than another character. If you want to purchase it to support the company even though it really holds no interest, you can do that as well, and your game experience isn't changed in the slightest.
Double-dipping would be charging us a monthly fee, then charging us again each time we wanted to do something built into the game itself, such as choosing a new power.
[/ QUOTE ]It's an opinion, not fact. Your opinion is it's not double dipping, mine is that it is. At some point NCSoft decided that they wanted more than our $15 a month, thus these boosters were introduced.
Try this analogy. A movie is released on DVD, you like it and buy it. Some months or years later, the studio decides to re-release the same movie with some extra fluff in it (deleted scenes, more documentary stuff, what have you) and hope that you put down more money for this new one. You already have the movie, so if you get the new "special edition" then you're really only paying for the new fluff. It's called double dipping. Very much like what we've been seeing here. -

49% of the players LOVE the AE cause it lets you get to 50 w/out really playing the game
and 49% of the players HATE the AE cause it lets you get to 50 w/out really playing the game
and 2% of the players like pie?
[/ QUOTE ]
Coincidentally 98% of percentages on the internet are made up.
[/ QUOTE ]And studies show that 3 out of 4 people make up 75% of the population. -
One man's flaw is another man's path of play. It's like saying "play the way you want, but not THIS way." Contradictory, whether you want to admit it or not.
-
[ QUOTE ]
Thankfully, CoX has evolved to a point there is no "Path to Success". After many many years, players finally have options on how to get from 1 - 50. They can choose what fits their playstyle and enjoy the game they way they want to enjoy it.
Does something need to be done about allowing someone to gain six levels in one AE mission? Yes. Only because it is an obvious flaw in the current system. Past that, let people play how they want to play.
[/ QUOTE ]Your second paragraph completely negates the point you make in the first paragraph. -
[ QUOTE ]
You know I've worked for a few companies that thought "free" was a great business model. They are all closed now. Even if the devs never added another costume set to the game COX still has more customizable costume choices than any other mmo out there. It's the one reason I don't like playing other mmo's.
At the end of the day our friends at NC soft are running a business. There are bills, salaries, and countless other expenses to pay. And oh yah they have to show a profit to stay in business. This means they will sometimes charge for extra things in the game. That's how it works folks, welcome to capitalism. $9.99 and its still the cheapest bit of entertainment out there. A heck of a lot cheaper then a night at the movies.
[/ QUOTE ]We already pay a monthly fee, this is really just double dipping. -
Why can't they allow something like the bolero/wings combo when you can still have tux tails with a cape? I personal don't even use wings anymore (don't like how they look when not flying), so it's not important to me. But others apparently want it, so why the double standard? Wings/bolero is verboten but tux/cape is perfectly fine, something not kosher there.

We need an option like this without a glitch. I SO want a glowy energy body for one of my toons. That or at least the option for making a pattern/color glow where it's used on costumes.

Agreed, I was thinking the same thing the last time I looked at the AE holograms. It would be sweet to make a character that looked like that. -

WAHOOOOOOOOOO!!!
Time to stomp some Rikti!!!!
For those negative nellies, remember the first time YOU were part of a Ritki Invasion, or any of the earlier issue invasions? The adrenaline pumping? The vastness? The epic battling? Bombs dropping all around you? Fighitng side by side with your friends, SG or VG?
Well, we have a lot of new folks over the last several months that may NOT have had the privilege we've had!
I'm sure those unwilling and non-desirous of participating can find another zone or AE building to hide in while espousing their ire.
I would imagine that well-played, veteran players would at least have the chutzpah to go the distance and show our new members how a community takes care of itself and the Ritki, especially to prove the words 'can't' or 'won't' are in your vocabulary in taking on a simple challenge, like maybe organizing your SG or VG to muster up members for a few hours of zone-hopping, Rikti Invasion-stomping at the SG/VG level itself, or upping the ante and organizing and taking down a Ritki Dropship during the invasion.
I'm sure the Devs know this is old to us veteran players. We, as vets, can do out part by making this a memorable event for the new players and SG/VG members alike.
The benefits of our actions may get some of the die-hard AE players to 'step outside' of their AE enclosures and try something new, maybe even be impressed enough to join SGs/VGs or try hopping to other invaded zones to re-experience the rush they got in their first invasion, which may be this weekend.
We once were in the same shoes as all our new members are now. Let's not forget those that made the difference in our early gaming experience, especially in unique events such as this.
[/ QUOTE ]I might agree with this point, if we never had Rikti invasions throughout the rest of the year. THEN this would feel like an event an not an annoyance. But I've been able to collect all the badges on the characters I wanted through the regular random attacks. A new player can do the same.
