    Friday Flights of Fancy

Hey...the girl who started this event picked that girly name. I suggested Friday Fights and [censored]ing, but that idea didn't get much love.
  3. Regarding your Endurance ("Energy" / "Mana"), be sure to pick up Stamina from the Fitness PP and slot it with Endurance Modification enhancements. Make sure you slot your other powers with Endurance Reduction enhancements and eventually go for set bonuses that boost your recovery.

But it's easy to fall into the trap of "hold this guy, hold that guy, Shiver, Ice Storm, Ice Patch, oops gotta rehold that guy" and never get around to that actual damage.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I think if your inherent play style pulls you in that direction, yes, you can easily become the Blastroller. When I was new to the game, I went that route...but I soon learned that it was far better to expedite destruction, rather than to "toy" with mobs.

This is not to say that I didn't utilize Ice Patch (never laughed harder) and Shiver, at times. But as I reached the higher levels, I trimmed the excess mitigation off of my build and focused on damage.

Ice/Ice has a lot of toys to provide mitigation- slows, holds, ice patches, more slows... it is possible to play an Ice/Ice and never get to the part where you do damage.

That's a good problem to have, but it is a problem to watch out for.

    [/ QUOTE ]

cybrgamer - I am available for counseling if you should ever go Ice/Ice and fall victim to "overmitigating". You can certainly do superior damage, as often as you like, with Ice/Ice.
  8. Hey Moderator 08, would you care to take a run with us this week? Seriously.
  9. I love your foamy rage, brutha. Please bottle it and bring it along for FFF, which is from this moment on a.k.a Friday Foam and Ferocity.

The only things that will give me fits are EBs.

Are you fighting from range and spamming Chilblain?

Of course, I'm assuming you have Chilblain well-slotted.

    [/ QUOTE ]

With good ranged defense and proper slotting on any of the Immobs I think you should have no trouble with EBs, or you could use purples and reds and go to work either way EBs don't really pose as big of a problem as you think they do.

    [/ QUOTE ]

A well-slotted Chilblain can seriously boost your DPS. Spamming it will enable you to solo EBs in an impressively short amount of time (like before Eye of the Magus wears off).

Even better when you are hovering while mezzed, and that boss or lt keeps trying to jump on things to melee you, and you keep pelting it with your tier 1 and 2s, and you eventually kill it while mezzed. Ritki mesmerists, I am looking at you.

Because they are resistant to mezzing

    [/ QUOTE ]

But Defiance takes a good amount fear out of getting mezzed. Nothing like pelting a boss with some of your better attacks while you're "stuck". Then add some decent set bonuses vs. mezz and popping a Break Free will be the exception, not the rule.

Blasters peak too early. Or to put it better, they look great at first, then become Vengeance Bait by end game. they do enouh damage to attract attention, don't do enough to protect themselves, and have no defense. They've been at leaqst tossed a small bone with mental manipulation as a secondary, because all of the other secondaries just suck. I hate blapping, I want to blast, but the game and especially the secondaries doom someone who wants to play a blaster, not a squishy, defenseless scrapper.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Based on your commentary above, I have to say that you don't know much about playing a Blaster.

You say you "want to blast". So slot for ranged defense and blast from range. It actually works well.

You can further "protect" yourself, and your team, by killing mobs fast and using mitigation powers from your secondary.

    No, just no.

    I lol'd.

I'd be curious to know what makes Chillblain such a good power.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Cyclone Jack gave you the stats. I'll give you the sound bite: Chilblain is a potent boss killer - AVs not withstanding.
  22. ^ I know...it's my fault for falsely advertising a "Kick Posi in the crotch..." arc.

The first Arc was more length than love, but OK overall.

Next we rewarded ourselves with a very amusing arc called "Unhappy Holidays". Nothing like teaming with Santa (tanker) and the Easter Bunny (claws scrapper - lol) - lots of fun and we will definitely run it again (too bad Siolfir had already left...that one might have cheered her up).

Then we closed it out with "NinjaS, Zombies, & Pirates, Oh My!" Sounded fun...but too many overlapping patrols made it a chore. We were starting to get tired, anyway.

I look forward to next week. I'll post the roster info on Tuesday.
