  1. Very informative replies, all, and just the sort of detail I was after. I've decided that, while I may take up Mind Control and Storm Summoning in future characters, it won't be the same character. I will continue to examine my choices whilst my brain produces another concept idea from the back-burner. Thanks very much for all your help!
  2. The devs had to keep their mouths shut for a year? And longer? My extreme sympathies to you. Whenever I've bought a surprise gift for my wife that I knew she would flip over once she got it, it would be all I could do to keep a straight face. Actually keeping the secret required a physical effort on my part.

No one gets paid enough for that. Wow.
  3. I already sent the player's global name a tell in-game, but in case he or she reads this first, I would like the name 'Spooky.' I don't really have any names to exchange, but I am willing to negotiate.

EDIT: Checked the following names; some might be of interest.

    Brother Fox
    Demolition-Man
    Doctor Anomaly
    Doctor Panacea
    Dreaming Hand
Fantastical (also Mr. Fantastical, but this one might be *ahem* stretching it)
    Forthright
    Greenscythe
    Gryphon Grey
    Hard Cold Truth
    Higher Love
    Jim Dandy
    Justice Manifest
    Midnight Oasis
    No Problem
Sati (points if you catch this movie reference)
    Screech-Owl
    Serene Warrior
    Simply Awesome
    Speedblur
    Still of the Night
    Strange Dust
    Street Peace
    Strikeback
    Super Robo Dragon
    Thunder-Bot
    Too Strong
    True Romance
    Twist of Hate
    Ugly Dragon
  4. I've played all types of characters, hero and villain, at least 4 or 5 different kinds of every archetype. I turned my thoughts to rolling up another controller, a concept that calls for Mind Control and Storm Summoning. Here on the new forums, the guides aren't working yet, for some reason; clicking on the links only takes me to a 404 page.

I have tried neither Mind Control nor Storm Summoning before, and I look forward to the challenge of learning them both. Failing the advice of the guides, I looked in this forum at threads going back a year. While I found a build or two, and a few opinions about Mind/Storm that were both positive and negative, nowhere did I see WHY the pairing was good or bad.

I plan to use the character to solo, to duo, to team. Would anyone be so kind as to tell me why, specifically, they like or dislike this combo? Is there any synergy? Do they work against each other? As I've said, I'm looking forward to learning these powersets. However, if the two of them combined will just be an everlastingly frustrating experience, then I'd rather get some sense of that now as opposed to 3 months of playing, all the while thinking I'm just not doing it right, when it's not me, it's the pairing.

Thank you in advance for your time, consideration and any advice you may offer.
  5. Didn't want to post this on all the separate server forums (that's cross-posting anyway, right?), so hopefully this is the right place.

I'm looking for a server where I can expand into the red side. I know that Freedom and Virtue have the largest populations, period, and by default, should have the largest villain populations. I'm curious to know if there is some way to tell how many villains there are, on average, on any given server? Not necessarily at any given time, or even how many are actually registered villains on that server. Just...which server has the best redside population? And when I say best, I'm mostly meaning most active.

    Thanks for your attention.
  6. I'm another who can't decide on just one feature, so here's my "the sky's the limit" list:

Completely revamp level 1-20 content. Someone else mentioned 'choice' storylines (you can choose from Actions A, B or C, and the result will present you with new sets of choices, each different from the other); let's have these instead of the more linear storylines, please. This will tie in with the already-existing "roll an alt" feature such that players will want to try out different branches of storyline just as much as they want to try out new powersets.

Revamp Perez Park and Boomtown. Give us reasons to go there aside from the occasional contact sending us across 3 zones to get to a single mission and then leave that zone again. The branching storylines idea could help with this, but as it stands and IMO, these zones need Hollows- and Faultline-level facelifts.

Give me a reason, any reason, to make going to Galaxy City just as viable a choice as going to Atlas Park. IMO again, but it seems to me that there's a "natural" progression through the lower zones: Atlas Park, King's Row, Steel Canyon, Talos Island, with perhaps Faultline thrown in. Maybe the Hollows as well. I'm not claiming that no one ever goes to Skyway City or the other lower zones, but I don't think it's an accident that there's a University and a Midnighter's Club in Steel Canyon, but not Skyway. Where are the AE buildings? The Wentworth's? The (first) tailor? I think I keep coming back to the "branching storylines" idea, but it does seem to be a far-reaching way to give the "neglected" zones new purpose without doing a huge facelift. I recognize that redoing content in this manner would be quite the extensive undertaking.

Moving on, costumes. I'd like to see old costume parts updated; I think most would agree that a large part of the old stuff looks crude compared to the newer costume parts. I'm not talking about new parts (not yet), but a graphics tweak/update to existing costume pieces/patterns. I'd like to see the costume pieces that scream to be included in natural sets (I'm looking at you, Steampunk Boots). I'd like to see dozens of new animal parts. I'd like to see skin options for males. I'd like to see a trenchcoat variant or four, like a duster or a cloth coat. I'd like to see hair variations with hats. I'll go so far as to say I wouldn't mind paying for a costume pack (with items/options numbering in the hundreds, and mixing and matching pushing the possible combinations into the bajillions), with the condition that just as much if not more costume stuff, of equivalent cool factor, is included for free in an issue or series of consecutive issues.

I'll echo the merging of markets. What, exactly, is the argument against this, again? Maybe one of the reasons people (seem to) play more Blueside is because the market Redside is comparatively anemic? (Let's not get into other issues, such as less than half the number of zones Redside as Blueside)

I'd like an account-wide bank, not just server-wide. I want my villain on Champion to be able to withdraw an amount that my hero on Infinity put in. This might be an alternative to merging the markets, but I don't think so. Why can't we have both? Extra primo good!

There are lots of folks with multiple accounts. As it stands, on one account, you can purchase extra slots on a given server or transfer a character from one server to another for a fee. Let's say I have a level 40+ on the Justice server on my second account that has become a favorite of mine. However, the majority of the characters I like to play are on my first account, on the Pinnacle server, where I'm involved in quite an active SG. Sure, I could just reroll, but I'd like that character on this server, and never mind they're on different accounts. I recognize this would be a different type of transaction than any we've had to this point; I'm sure that Customer Service would have to be directly involved to verify the customer's information before switching across accounts like this. The extra work would likely make this type of transaction cost-prohibitive, but we're dreaming here, so I'd like to see it as an option.

I would like to see, as a lump delivery, say, every 18 months or so, at least 1 new primary and secondary powerset for each AT, not to include the HEATs or VEATs.

I'll bet I think of half-a-dozen other things as soon as I hit the submit button, but I'll stop for now.
  7. <QR>

Didn't read through the entirety of this thread, so my question may have already been asked and answered. Nonetheless...

Several weeks ago, when this booster pack was put up on the test server, I ventured over to check out the size change feature. At that particular time, there was no option to use free tailor sessions when all one did was change the given character's height. The price of that change was well over a million in Influence.

For those of you who've already purchased this pack: is it now possible to use free tailor sessions? Or must you use Influence still?

    Thanks.
  8. GAH! Choosing just ONE of my babies is such insidious and Machiavellian torment!

I put over a dozen names I think are quite clever into a hat and pulled out:

    Dr. Panacea

    Bio Formatting?

Thanks for the quick reply. I knew I wasn't crazy; okay, at least not in THIS manner!
  10. Klatteja

    Bio Formatting?

So, at what point did the bio space on one's character stop recognizing paragraph breaks? Or is there a new trick to it that I missed somewhere along the way? I mean, sheesh, I've learned to work within the limited space given, but now I have to lump it all into a single paragraph?
  11. @Big Fish

    Infinity server

Personal SG, just my wife and I, but we've gotten to the point Prestige-wise where we think we can now build a functional base. We've gotten all the SG teleport beacon badges. We have (with the help of a very kind individual) gotten all the SG medical badges. I've tried to hammer on this myself, but I must have the wrong mindset, as I can't quite 'get it.' Even after a few days of 'research,' I don't understand what I must have, what's the minimum size required of each type of room, power, control...yeesh, even now it's making me dizzy.

So. I would very much appreciate help in contructing our base. I would feel more comfortable offering payment, but I doubt that many would actually take such. Please contact me if you think you'd like to help and we'll discuss things. Thanks!

...you can still sell your blood, right?

'Cause I don't think I could make ten bucks standing on the corner before the 14th...

  13. Here's a quick question: when trying to get the Toy Collector badge (by opening 200 presents), must one open all 200 personally or do any presents opened by any member of a team count for all members of that team?
