Ok heres an alternative build, one a bit more for teamplay and lvling up prior to a pvp build. I miss not having AoEs, even if Howl isn't great. According to my planner it does better damage, recharges faster and uses less end than energy torrent, not to mention without the knockback and with a handy -res. My teammate has freezing rain so this combined with AIM & BU should help to drop mobs faster.

If you insist on resuscitate, take it in place of poison, you probably wont have time to use it before everything is dead anyway. Your summoning end costs are going to be very high but a few ends in the heaviest powers should sort that.
Spectral terror was overslotted before, i slot mine 2 acc 1 end, and the second acc is only for pvp and i can't say i've noticed it miss. Any hard to hit mobs should be tagged with acid arrow anyway.
Same with decieve, it's good out of the box, i just slot 2 acc so it doesn't miss. I find i can keep 3 or so mobs perma confused with it, and bearing in mind the animation times of trick arrow you wont have time for more than a deceive or two per mob.
If you plan to PvP at a later stage a full pvp respec would prolly be needed anyway.
I assume sonic or energy melee attacks will light oil slick? Also I have a bind to target the slick and attack it with a particular power on my defender which you might like.
This will be a very ranged build, and personally i'd lose flash altogether if you dont want hasten. Bear in mind though that TA powers really benefit from it, as does PA and flash. -
I was under the impression that each fly mod in swift gave very little effect, but i could be wrong. most of my toons that perma-hover are Kins, so i wouldn't notice. Either way i'd still suggest leaping, acro can be the difference between being held by a boss or having an extra moment to defend yourself.
-
True, but Shout now has some decent range too. I'm undecided about the medicine pool atm, if i dont take it i can get hasten in and powerboost earlier, and it leaves me a free slot. I'll see how i go, i'll likely leave medicine to start with and spec into it if need be.
I am worried about gimping my ranged attack chain by skipping shriek but i want to see what my chain is like with a few more slots and SOs first. -
union. just taking her at an easy pace atm. she plays very different from my fire blaster so i'm still getting used to it.
-
I like the quick nature of nrg punch too. Would it leave holes in my attack chain though slotting for one recharge and no hasten?
And i want rambling on, it all gives me ideas. I never would have guessed you were a sonic fan -
LOL Jum, i thought you'd reply to a sonic post but i didn't expect it so fast. Do you troll the boards waiting for one or do you have a special alarm that goes off?
You've pretty much said what i was thinking. Aid self is handy in PvE anyway. Some mobs/players have very fast DoT ticks though (i.e. council) and repeated clicking on aid self tends to drain endurance pretty fast.
I hear what your saying about powerboost and the AIM/BU buffs but i'm going to be running 2 accs and 2 tohit in both, surely this would be enough? Plus, i PvP pretty exclusively in Sirens, where villains dont get thier tier 9 powers like elude so i should be ok for that?
I shall leave hasten out for the time being, i dont like it for my concept anyway (fiery hands on a sonic??). It was only there to help boost the recharge of conserve when i had it in my build and the nuke, but i shall mostly settle on the ST attacking so i wont need them up all the time.
Another question; shreik or energy punch? energy punch does about twice the damage but i can get in 3 shreiks in the same recharge, with a -res (and of course it's ranged). Thoughts on this? -
Most doms play very much like blappers, just with less damage but far more safely. As such you cant get better than leaping with cj and acro really. hover is ok but slow and vulnerable to immobilise. I'd take leaping, especially if you plan to solo.
-
Ok guys plenty of stuff around about this combo but i thought i'd ask for some specific advice anyway. I just started one currently residing at lvl 11 and am having trouble fitting what i want into my build. I'd like to PvP with her at some point, most likely in the 30s when everything is nicely slotted and exemping into Sirens (only zone i PvP in really). Not looking for a pure PvP build at the moment, more of a PvE toon that can perform adequately in PvP when the mood takes me.

Right, a few questions;
1) Is 35 too late to leave powerboost? If i get it at 28 i would have to lose aid self or sirens (which i would see as essential to soloing effectively). The only thing i can see it being useful for in PvP would be screech, but then surely i wouldn't have to stun someone for long as i'd be wanting to drop them pretty fast after (plus all the stuns stacking)
2) how useful is aid self to a blaster in PvP considering even slotted well many things can still interrupt it? From what i've seen if someone gets the drop on a blaster they are pretty much finished aside from running away. They seem to rely more on picking out a single target, dropping them fast then getting out, not "scrapping" and trying to heal themselves.
3) ATM she has TERRIBLE end problems, moreso than any toon i can remember playing in a long time (though memorys of my fire/fire blaster at that lvl are distant). Will stamina solve this right off or is slotting for end in attacks essential?
4) I had to leave out hasten to get both aid self and powerboost in. Slotting for recharge in attacks and having quite a few of them i should have no problem chaining attacks. Thoughts?
Thanks in advance,
Kitty
P.S. Please no flames about my lack of PvP knowledge regarding blasters, it is purely based on observation as i never PvPed my fire/fire. I'd like advice without this turning into a topic about how i'm such a n00b for not knowing that someones blaster can single handedly tank for a full team in PvP, ta. -
come on now, he did say he hadn't thought it through, and he wasn't kidding
Not sure an inherant that boosts damage is really what blasters need at all tbh. Lack of damage has never exactly been a failing, more like lack of defence, mitigation, endurance etc. -
I thought it did as well, but afaik it's very low. Not worth slotting at all. Fearsome stare however has a pretty huge acc debuff thats well worth slotting.
-
Ah yes now i know you....and i wont miss you at all! :P
you'll be back though, and quicker than you think i bet. you'll see, they ALL come craaaawling back -
Just ignoring the slightly OT stuff about semantics and getting to the suggestion...I'm not sure a range/damage thing is the answer but something could definately do with changing. It's not that defiance is *useless*, it's just not very useful for quite a lot of the time. I rarely feel a sense of satisfaction finishing off that boss only to die moments later because i've been unsuccessfully (yet again) trying to use defiance rather than popping that green like i should have.
I like the idea of a vigilance power for blasters, only based on your own health. The lower it gets, the less attacks cost. It would have to scale up a bit better than defiance though, meaning that when yo get to say 30% health your attacks are virtually free for example. Of course you could just use that as a fix for current defiance. It's so frustrating seeing your health in the red and your defiance bar is up to a whopping 10%, it's just not good enough, you may as well pop a red. -
don't think we ever teamed but i'll miss you regardless
@Bru: Whats up with Dark Lords atm? anything good on the cards? I haven't played CoV for a while but if we could get some good events/teamage planned for the double xp weekend it could be some good prestige for DLords. -
Personally i'd remove it from your tray and forget it existed
But more seriously, if you are determined to make use of it, it needs some acc. I'd say 2 to get a comfortable hitrate. I wouldn't slot for KBdistance as it's already quite far. I think anything more than a couple of acc would be a wast of slots that could be better spent elsewhere.
Also you might regret putting slots in it when you get hurricane and other storm powers and dont need to use gale any more.
Considering KB is the only thing this power does i think it should have a bonus to accuracy rather than a penalty, but thats just my opinion. -
I think negative energy attacks are pure but aren't energy attacks largely smashing? Most attacks apart from dark and psi iirc have large parts smashing and/or lethal. Take spectral demons, their melee range smite does negative damage but alot of it is lethal afaik.
I'd be suprised to find any mission in the game that completely lacks any S/L damage. -
as a corrupter i slot mine 1 (or 2, cant remember) acc and 3 -tohit. I tend to summon him on EBs or difficult bosses and find he's very survivable if the mob is within his chill of the night aura. You will need some recharge as has been said but i'm not sure you will need him perma with all your other pets. I don't keep my fluffy out all the time even though he's perma, he can do more harm than good sometimes, but use your discretion.

Ok this power is driving me mad. It's fantastic when it lights but it just isn't reliable. The description gives the impression that it might not light every single time, which in itself is ok but I've been getting some really odd behaviour when i use it.
It will work 100% of the time for long periods, then suddenly not light once for an entire mission. Last night it lit every time in the respec missions until i got to the reactor mision. It didn't light once in well over 30 uses in the reactor map. This is a common occurance. Once i came out of the mission it lit again first time. This seems to come on completely randomly, it just decides it's not going to light and theres nothing i can do about it.
I run 2 acc in blazing arrow and have tactics as well as aim on occassion. Also my duo partner is a /fire tank who usually lights it for me. It doesn't matter who shoots it or with what it just will not light for long stretches.
Is there a set probability of it lighting? If so it seems like you get all the successful lightings in one go followed by all the duds together.
It's most annoying as unless EMP arrow is recharged it is my main damage mitigation from both it's knockdown and more importantly the damage which clears mobs in seconds. Also seems to decide to not light when i need it most (ambushes, i'm looking at you).
I'm a bit miffed at how you have a power that may or may not work at any given time, i cant think of another like this. You dont get fulcrum shifts that fail to fire (assuming a hit) or nukes that have the posibility to just not happen.
It's not like TA is overpowered at the best of times, and i think it's about time this power were fixed for good. -
heh i thought it was serious till about half way down. The US forums are even more amusing than ours, the general lack of wit and/or thought never fail to makee me chuckle.
-
Wow, days of nothing then replies galore!
Thank you all for the builds. Let me emphasise again though that i'm not making a pure PvP build. Raven is still only 42 and i'd love to hit 50 sometime, i just find she's really good at pvp and it helps break up the xp grind to pvp her sometimes.
Maybe when i hit 50 i'll spec to a pure pvp build but atm i still want powers like O2 boost and lightning storm for PvE. Plus, if you duel, LS is actually really good, not for the damage or KD but it does enough end drain to detoggle in a longish fight. (found this out when facing mobs that use it, i got detoggled by one when low on end).
I cant be doing with superspeed, not only do i not like it but it's completely against my concept, which i'll compromise but not abandon. Also, i have bad enough endurance issues without adding in hasten. I'd like it if i were to take flash, but i have no intention to take it.
Would love to have steamy mist but i find sup invis just too useful, and i wouldn't be able to fit it in without dropping something important.
TP was the main reason for the respec, every time i've beeninto sirens with Raven i've picked up the temp TP power and found it amazingly useful. Hopefully hover will satisfy my close combat maneuvering and my desire to maintain my concept.
@anyone who's used TP Foe in pvp, how do you slot it for best results? -
I've found that due to a general state of boredom with the game atm i've rather taken to pvp. I've also found that my age-old lvl 42 ill/storm (who will never hit 50 at this rate) doesnt suck at it, in fact she's rather handy. Despite the fact that i've recently respecced, i was thinking of doing so again into a more pvp friendly build so i thought i'd post my build to get some general pointers/abuse.

Atm i'm running with hover and fly with recall friend, which has served me well for PvE but i've found the TP temp power in Sirens VERY effective for getting the jump on people and running away. It's not so great for chasing or scouting though so i might miss fly, but it's also a tad end heavy as i keep sup invis and hurricane on all the time.
TP foe isn't a power i've ever taken before, and one i'm not too fond of, but i'll give it a try, is it ok slotted like that?
O2 boost...it's quite handy and i have saved people with it (i mostly team pvp rather than duel) but as we know it's not the greatest heal in the world. Opinions on dropping it altogether? If so what could replace it. I've no end for additional toggles. How useful is group invis in PvP?
Also, i find i rarely use deceive in pvp, does it work in one go coz i dont think i ever remember actually getting someone with it, though it's hard to tell what with the pace of pvp. Is it all that or would i be better off with getting say aid self in it's place with aid other taken at lvl 12?
Please also bear in mind that while i want to perform better in pvp, i also dont want to cripple myself in PvE, as despite the odds i still hold out hope of getting to 50 one day.
Thanks in advance,
Kitty -
I'm not sure but i'd think Filth's post was written in sarcasm, though it was missing an emote
-
isnt 50% the acc of an even level minion? I thought npc acc still scales up with lvl and rank. I think in pvp the base acc of every normal acc power (75% in PvE) becomes 50%. This is before any acc enhancements though. A stalker running a 3-acc slotted AS and using BU with it will get a massive tohit buff, and i'm not sure if that obeys any "caps" or not. You can run an SR scrapper or ice tank at near to this "soft cap" of 45% and still get ASed everytime. The base +def value of PFF is massively higher of course but i think for PvP you might wanna slot it anyway to counteract these massive tohit buffs, not to mention all the -def debuffs flying around.
-
Epic sheilds don't offer 50% resistance on thier own, they are usually 33ish% for the res sheild and about 17% for the def sheilds. Were they 50% you'd have defenders with more res than some tanks.
-
It is, but it also come with a high end cost and quite a few power picks, so i still wouldn't recommend it unless you have one of those controller builds thats wide open for power picks (i've never seen such a beast
)
