As for the forum, if you think 34 pages is a lot, take a look at the precision rangers thread, its at well over 1000 pages AND they have their own site. My worry would be that It would just be one long natter between myself, cold, lady and scar (and we talk in-game anyway!). The advantage of it being here is that anyone can see it, so we may get requests to join as we are always on the front page, and can arrange events with other SG leaders easily. Also it means we only have one place to look, at the moment the rangers are trying to keep up with their own site and the forum thread at the same time, and to be honest I dont think its working as well as one thread.
I think our objective should be to get more people in the SG contributing to the thread as it is, instead of the same 4-5 people all the time.
I think one major problem we may need to tackle is that most of the SG members are us! Just in various alts (hell I think Im half the SG on my own now). Perhaps a big recruitment drive is needed, after we slim down on the alts, and put the thread address in the MOTD. -
Speaking as someone who deleted a lvl 38 FF/dark i would tell you 3 things;
1) They are very very very dull to play
2) You get no +damage or -res powers, so you'll never be an offender, and
3) They used to work very well back before the GDN and i5/ED, but were hit very hard after
It's a nice idea and it did used to work that way, but sadly not anymore. The only worse solo/offender set i can think of is empathy, and no-one rolls an empath to solo
I would still say anything rad/ or dark/ or /kin (for that living on the edge between uber and ultra-squishy feeling) would be your best bet.

I would try a corrupter Lady. What type is up to you, personally i like matching sets (as you can tell) for concept reasons, and they tend to be designed to work well together. I suggest a something/kin...for purely selfish reasons

Ok as i had a few mins i also knocked up a necro/dark build for you lady. It will be very powerful, the only thing i'd worry about it you will have basically no endurance recovery (it's like 0.3 eps) with all your many toggles on, but if you are careful not to spam powers and make sure to turn off all your toggles whilst summoning and waiting to recover end you could be ok.
If it isn't viable i think you could easily part with pet gaze, dark servant and recall friend to fit stamina in (all useful powers but liveable without).

Ok so i recently respecced into a very nice build that lets me put out a lot of damage while retaining my holding ability. This was centred around single target damage and holds, with powerboosted AoE holds for when i need them. It was also designed to be PvP friendly, and indeed performs very well for a dominator. I have recently however begun to return to my senses and realise that i actually don't like PvP (think i took this toon in to sirens all of twice) and will be spending 99% of the time in PvE. Teaming with a rad/kin corrupter and recieving the blessing that is fulcrum shift i have started to yearn for some AoE damage output, so i've altered my build slighty to get as much AoE damage as i can without sacrificing holds or my ability to PvP (by this i mean get by, i'm not out to min/max for PvP at all).
So here it is, my AoE, domiblapper build. Oh and please dont point out the virtues of aid self or the dangers of blapping for a dominator, i'm very comfortable with my ability to plant at a moments noticeI just hope this toon will be fun, and feeling like an AoE killing machine on occasion does it for me

Ok heres how i would do it (not many changes really, the core is all there), i'd try it with the 2 recarge in heals first and if you start to get end issues replace one with a second end. Also one tohit in both forge and aim takes your and your teammates acc to 120%, more than enough to hit anything, esp with all your other -def attacks. It's a very very nice build, i'm quite jealous at the shear number of slots you have to go around

I think you may be thinking of scourge, the corrupter inherant that does indeed happen when the target gets below 20% hp, but scrapper citicals and random based on the power (i think most of the lvl 32 ones have an increased chance to crit).
Acc also has no effect on this, nor does build up, though on CoV (and maybe CoH? i'm not sure) a held target increases the crit chance from a stalker by a further 20%.
And yes it always seems that others get crits all the time against us in PvP, but thats more to do with perception i think...we remember when we are planted by a one hit critical much more vividly than when we do it ourselvesIt's like acc that way, you can hit 9 times out of 10 all night, but you will only remember that string of 6 misses in a row when you really needed them to hit

Another tough build, the DM set is so nice it really wants as many slots as it can get, but then in a staminaless build (even on a MM) you do need liberal end slotting as running the toggles and throwing around heals and debuffs will be very very draining.
I can easily enough show you my slotting on kitty if you'd like, i think i've managed to balance the excellent debuffs from dark with the requirement of a corrupter to do damage first, but it is difficult.
At a quick glance i'd say i'd want dam res in shadowfall (the only AoE psi res power in the game) and yo ucould get by with fewer slots in fearsome stare and pet gaze (the latter is kinda optional for a MM).
Also drop fluffy!??! hmm....controversial, he is excellent with one acc 3 acc debuffs, but as you have so many pets i can see the logic in skipping it.
If i were to take vengeance i'd prolly leave it at 1 def and redistribute the slots. The buff is excellent as is, the rest is gravy. -
i'm going 3 dam 1 end as it's expensive to summon (i am ill/storm though so end is tight) and it does nice damage if it stays on one target (i.e. an AV). Not containment damage though unfortunately, but that would be very nice indeed. Could slot def debuff i suppose, but storm has other -def powers (as does earth) and i think it's a fairly hefty -def on tornado anyway. A friend of mine also put 1-2 recharge in his to make it perma as it's so damn good in PvP.

For PvP, no stormie should be without it. If you think hurricane is annoying, try being stuck under a tornado
For PvE it's situational to say the least, i use it quite often, but my regular team are all so good now that sometimes i do it just to liven things up
Very nice for AVs, when solo and makes a pretty decent "oh c**p" running away power.
I'm a firm beleiver thats theres no such thing as a gimped power, just uses that haven't been found yet (except jumpkick, no excuse there really). Take gale, most hate it but i find it useful and would probably miss it on occassion if it wasn't available -
Very nice build, very close to how i have Cal now. Just noticed though that we neglected impale, probably your best ranged attack, so i'd take maybe one slot from acro (end or rec, your choice) and the end from seeds of confusion and give impale a recharge and an end redux. It's very hard planning a dominator as both primary and secondary need a lot of slots to be any good, and that means making sacrifices in other places
Unfortunately, or fortunately depending on how you look at it, the epics for dominators look pretty good, so thats most of our 40-50 slots gone

Sparky and i are working on your build atm lady, god bless IM. If your on though a couple questions would help;
1) Any end problems...i notice you have stamina now (seem to remember a stamless build b4)...if so when does it drop? (i.e. mine is only when i use TK, damn endhog it is).
2) do you find your trap (snigger) adds significantly to your damage and/or control, or is it more an anti-agro thing?
3) do carrion creepers need acc? cant quite figure that power out, and the description is vague too (and it takes a hundred different types of enc).
4) Shouldn't someone who gets paid to work as i do be working right now instead of posting on a MMORPG forum? If so...how likely do we think that is to happen? -
I think the slotting may be a tad iffy in that build sparky. Recharge in acro and damage in strangler? Also i think seeds is one of those powers that demands 6 slotting...unfortunately thorny assault doesn't have the benefit of powerboost, so it's prolly more difficult to pull out slots.

My lvl 40 mind/nrg now solos very comfortably on relentless (the highest difficulty) after a much needed and very successful respec. Mind has more than enough control to keep a group of 3-6 mobs perma held/slept/confused/levitated while you pound on them. Were i to solo more than i do i would have picked up mass hypnosis, slotted it for duration and used power boost beforehand. This should keep them asleep long enough to pop for a cuppa and still get back in time to kill them
As for the no-pets issue with mind, for me it's a non-issue, i do very well without them (I've had imps, phantasms and animated stone as pets on other toons) as the control is far superior esp in the low lvls but right up to 40. Dominator damage isn't really all THAT bad, it's the staying alive long enough that is difficult, and thats where the extra control comes in.
My typical cycles on a group of 3 mobs would be hit powerboost, confuse one, dominate another and sleep the third. The confused mob will hit the held mob first and not wake up the slept one (clever that) and then if dominate has recharged i hold the confused one to prevent him stealing too much xp, then kill the first held target, then the confused one then the slept one in that order. If ever dominate isn't ready or misses a quick levitate or powerpush gives me all the time i need. This tactic can solo you from 1-40, if slowly, and is ready for every fight where other sets rely on the AoE holds/effects as they only typically get one ST effect.
Edit: I also now have NO endurance issues unless using TK (i run CJ and acro perma). It's amazing what a respec can do -

Ok, unfortunately (IF my planner is right, it's the latest but i'm always in two minds whether to trust it) the numbers on invincible are nowhere near this. Mine states you get a 4.5% buff to def and acc for the first critter and a 1.125% buff for the rest, but ONLY up to 10, as thats it's cap. This means in a full mob you still only have a max of around 14% def and acc buff, not to be sniffed at, but hardly the amzing power it was before.
I have a lowbie SS/INV brute and have been fiddling with the idea of not slotting acc in attacks and using rage and invinc for the buff. With 3 (+3) SOs tothit in rage it gives a 31% acc buff, and invinc (assuming just one in melee range) 4.5%...so you get a little more than one SOs worth of acc in total. However take those tohits out of rage and put them back as an acc in 3 of my attacks and i get a permanent +55% acc buff with one foe in melee range...a little over the top, but assuming debuffs etc. should make for very few misses.
I personally wouldn't take tough, we're brutes not tanks, and it's the other damage types that will kill us, not S/L. Also it's a very expensive toggle and will just take precious slots away from important things like attacks.
I would take the passives, for 2 reasons; 1) they cost nothing and don't need much slotting (2 SOs gives most bang for your buck by my planner), meaning more slots elsewhere and 2) They don't offer much, but any nrg/elemental res is better than none, and might be the difference between just surviving and faceplanting.
Just my 2 cents -
Simply a matter of numbers, there are (afaik) fewer dominators than any of the other villain ATs and most SGs recruiting are looking for them to balance thier teams. I am one of only 2 (that play at all often) high lvl dominators in my SG, and the only lvl 40 one.

Fire and dark armours both lack and KB or immob res, meaning CJ and Acro as standard (Cut my cookies for me?)
Dark/Fire would seem good to me as it would mean 2 end recovery powers, 2 self heals and a self res (if only cal had one, talk about mileage)...Fire/Dark would be rare and unique, but i'd imagine the end issues would be horrible.
I'm going SS/Inv purely coz it's nice n simple, oh and no nasty auras to obscure my costumes (i may smoke like a chim-a-ney, but no need to resemble one)

Take it from someone who played 38 lvls of FF/Dark (before deleting) that casting a debuff on a mob every fight is NOTHING compared to the soul-destroying boredom of casting 2 bubbles on 7 teammates every 4 minutes.
As for solo defenders, i'd say kin/rad or rad/dark (did a build for a friend and it looks like a VERY strong combo....debuffs and immobs, nice), personally i've played rad/rad and dark/dark, as i'm a fan of matching sets for concept reasons -

On a completely unrelated topic i'm thinking (not a good start) of rolling a SS/Inv brute, as i haven't tried one and it's the only set that catches my eye. I am of course reading guides and what-not, but any specific tips from those who have experience with the sets would of course be most welcome.
On another unrelated topic....day at work getting worse and worse. I got something in my eye at lunchtime and it's been hurting ever since and i'm squinting like i have a facial tik and now i have a headacheI have managed to offset this by dropping a giant metal stapler on my foot, thereby spreading the pain more evenly amoungst my extremities...sigh. The only thing remaining to cap it all off is if i get squished by a bus on the way home, so fingers crossed.
