The Devs couldn't get the front-loaded tokens working for subscriptions, so the whole 'limited time' thing is now just a giant '???'. The Devs are reevaluting their plans for Tier 9 VIP rewards.
The original plan was to change them out quarterly, and to eventually cycle old ones back in (not to put them in the market). The new plan will possibly include having multiple sets available at a time. -
That problem means the Devs have (long since) finished the SSA 2 and actually put it in the gam- just not enabled the access. This should allow them to enable it without patching the client (or at least just a minimal patch).

The Patron Power Sets still require you to unlock them via a villain arc (available at 35+ to Villains and Rogues), and all standard ATs can use them (plus SoA). Once they're unlocked, a character can switch to/back to being a Hero and will then always have access to them.
Since APPs don't require doing any missions to unlock, anyone (sans Kheldians and SoA) can use them once they ding 35. -
I don't think the second signature story arc is actually up, is it?

Quote:At least in the past, Freedom did have more hardware behind it than any of the other servers (meaning that it was harder for it to go yellow/red than the other servers generally). But, since I last saw that said by a red name, they've done a number of server upgrades, and there was that period of a couple months where everyone was able to use some number of transfers every week for free, so I'm not sure if that's still the case anymore.I had been wondering if it was just a matter of relative server load and if the Freedom server still had some more advanced tech for server capacity, as opposed to actually more players on Virtue vs. Freedom.
You can definitely get on iTrials easily on Freedom, I've been on many. And, as has been said, they generally form in Pocket D (as it won't be interrupting any MRP like it would on Virtue)

Could you post a CoH Helper log? That log should help us figure out what's going on with your system and where any problem might lay. My first guess is that the drivers for your video card are out of date, resulting in that issue.
(you can also buy the 'Knowledgeable' badge at any time, and you only have to/can buy it once) -
Those preorder enhancements automatically appear on every character, you don't manually claim them (well, they appear after leveling or doing something normal in game, not sure the exact trigger... I've gotten them on both new characters, and old ones, but not exactly sure the trigger, other than it happens fairly soon after I log 'em on).

It's just you. You picked the RedText powerset, thus, that's the sort of thing that happens.

1.) Minimize your chat window. Now you won't see anyone talking (unless they're right in front of your face).
2.) If 1) isn't far enough, remove Broadcast temporarily from all your chat tabs (you won't see the bubbles in that case either)
3.) Go to any PvP zone during prime time, odds are you still won't see anyone. I'd regularly do Shivan / Nuke runs back when people actually PvPed! And I'd only occasionally actually see someone. PvP is even deader now than it was back in its prime... which was pretty damn dead.
4.) You don't need the badges. If trash talking bothers you soooooo much, and none of the other options are acceptable to you, just move on and don't worry about the tiny number of badges. -
Those old stores still exist, but, you could just go to the Rikti War Zone and buy them there (IIRC, for less as well!). Probably can also buy 'em in Cimerora as well. And Villain side never had the origin-contact-stores.

The fastest way would be to copy your current install (or at least the piggs folder) to a flash drive (or any other media), then download the NCSoft Launcher, start the CoH installation via that, immediately stop it once it begins, copy the piggs folder over the piggs folder in the CoH instalation directory, and then use 'repair' in the launcher.
Using the GvE install CD would probably result in a longer time than even just a fresh download via the NCSoft Launcher (likely by a large margin). -
Quote:And, considering the subject of this thread is about which is the most survivable, actually debating the merits is... you know... a good way to actually gain a better understanding (even if the ultimate truth is not found).
That SR's survival transcends that of other sets is something objective that can be tested.
I like Regeneration. That doesn't mean that if I had posted /regen, and someone comes in and shows that it doesn't perform all that well compared against others in based on any form of evidence other than simple opinion, that they somehow assaulted me.
The Scrapper forum has a reputation for actually running numbers. If you're going to post a claim, you better either have numbers that can in some way back it up, or not be bothered that someone else might post numbers that disprove your statement. -
Quickness boosts your recharge by 20%. Just for comparison, an SO enhancement is around 33%. Just in case you're not familiar with how recharge works, you should check out the article on ParagonWiki. 100% recharge won't make powers recharge instantly, but, recharge in half the original time. Recharge enhancements also have zero impact on animation times.
Quickness is definitely a very nice power.
And just because it annoys me, Scrappers are Melee primary/Defensive secondary, so it would be Street Justice/Super Reflexes, not the other way around -
Quote:I'm pretty sure I've seen a Dev actually respond to one of those once... needless to say, the OP still was willing to accept what they said. Those are hilarious... especially when posted in areas the Devs never look.
Yay for threadjacks! I sometimes wish the mods would just go through and close all the threads that have had the original reason resolved... but then I realize, where would I get so much of my entertainment? -
Couldn't you just try copy & pasting it? Not sure how it came (since I didn't win, nor did I enter, nor did I know about it
), but if it's just text, that should work. If it doesn't, I'd suggest PMing Zwill or Aveta (or another community rep).

Quote:I remember hearing about BABs coming alive before. Ghost Witch has done the same thing in Pocket D... although, at least in her case, she deleted the NPC from the current instance's map and placed her character in that same spot (based on what I remember of her explanation), so it would look like the NPC just came alive.I remember an old post (unless I'm hallucinating, which is possible, but I don't think so in this case) by BABs where he mentioned logging into his character for a rikti raid on galaxy city, making the trainer babs invisible and intangible, then helping people fight the rikti. And when he logged off, there were a load of petitions about the server causing the galaxy city trainer to crash and vanish.
This was likely way before they had anywhere near the tech to actually do it the way they currently do it. -
If you have the code you used to first activate CoH back in '06, you might have a chance. But, you would definitely need to contact NCSoft's support (just naming a character is definitely not enough!).
-
I would say either Rad/Sonic Defender or Cold/Sonic Defender. Rad blooms much earlier, but Cold might be able to top it out at the very high end. /Sonic due entirely to the -res.
(not sure how Poison/ would stack up vs those two, but Rad and Cold are tried and true)

All ATs will (eventually) be getting an AT-specific enhancement set in the Paragon Market. Last we heard, there was only 1 set for each AT, and the 6th was a proc that had a specific activation/minute rate (ish).
The copy of the game being shown off at PAX apparently had them in it, so I believe that's our latest source of information about the sets. Don't believe there's been an ETA for their release. -
Quote:Aett_Thorn listed DOs/SOs... didn't see you "correcting" himEnhancements already covered, Kitsune (Yin-Os are merely special for name and level).
Yin-Os aren't particularly well known anymore (anyone that wasn't playing much immediately after the Faultline revamp probably isn't even aware of them). Yin-Os, unlike DOs/SOs, actually have a functional difference depending on origin, and not just a flavor-description/icon/name as well as what enemies drop which. -
It also impacts what type of Yin-Os you can use, as well as a bit of dialog in a few quests.
You can safely pick your origin based entirely on RP reasons, without impacting your ability to min/max one bit. Everybody wins! -
Quote:An 8800 Ultra? The Cedar Mill P4 would probably be able to handle it (8800 Ultra is from mid '07, Cedar Mill from the start of '06, so it's not like they're that far apart generation-wise). Even then, I would consider any Pentium 4 'bottom tier' (being generous with that description), seeing as Intel totally abandoned that line in 2008, so the only ones you can get are ones that have set on a shelf for several years, seeing as no one wants them. They were sub-par processors back when they were king, and they're no better now.Except that the Pentium 4 I linked to is purchasable. Right now.
Of course, I did say "long as you buy something above the bottom tier CPUs"! You would be pretty hard pressed to make an argument that a P4 isn't bottom tier in this day and age!
Again, long as you don't get a bottom-of-the-barrel processor, you'll be fine.*
*No, an ARM Cortex A8 does not count! Nor do XMOS processors, even if for <$8 you can run 8 threads at once! -
More so that it's pretty much completely rubbish. Long as you buy something above the bottom tier CPUs (I'm including laptop/netbook processors in this!), you'll be completely fine. A better rule of thumb would be "Don't buy atom" (and whatever the AMD equivalent is now called, forget whether it was Llano or if that was the lower mid range or blah blah blah).
