  1. I've no idea what would trigger that, but, you should be able to go into Time Machine and restore the files (possibly sans the last couple hours of changes before they were deleted). Seeing as you got so many (null)s, it sounds like the configuration somehow got trashed (again, no clue why or how that would trigger it deleting random files).

I kind of doubt it was a virus... OS X does get them, but they're primarily scam-ware (fake AV software has been the biggest).
  2. They changed how it worked a while back. Back when there was only one (maybe two) SSAs, I did several and had a number of Alignment Merits on a character that never did any tips, because they weren't originally required... a few days ago, when I came back, I got that notice about having to confirm my alignment when I tired to take the Hero merits. I ran the missions and confirmed it, and then I was able to get the merits again.
  3. This is simply the way everything works (I don't mean in the store, I mean in all business). When it's hot and new, charge max price. Later, as demand fades, do a sale to get those hold outs.
  4. It still does it when outside the game? It's very doubtful it's at all related to CoH. A CoH Helper log and HiJack This report will help us figure out if any software might be messing with the mouse bindings (not CoH's bindings).

    LFG bug

They intetionally changed the system so you could queue while doing instances and such, instead of being stuck standing under Atlas. Flashbacks aren't real Task Forces, they just use a somewhat similar mechanic... and even then, if you want to queue while you're in a TF... that you're perogative.

I don't see why the Devs need to prevent people from queueing up while they're on a "TF". It "drops" the TF because you quit it when you joined a different TF. You do realize that TFs are dropped when you... drop it?

    Driver issues

Do as StarGeek said. Primarily if you do post, you'll want to include a CoH Helper log and HiJack This report in the post. You probably simply don't have the nVidia drivers installed on your system (or they're very badly corrupted).

I'm sure you've seen it as well Aett, but back in the days of mail spam, they would often do those exact things. Static filters are pure junk. The amount of effort for the Devs to implement that system (and then the extra overhead for maintaining it) will not be worth the inconsequential amount of time it slows down the spammers (which are already used to far more powerful filtering systems).
  8. It actually converts to an uncommon? I would have assumed it would convert to another orange. I read the box on the converter window (unless there's a new one that appears only when you're actually doing the process, which I haven't done yet), and I got the impression that it should do the rarity of the IO, not the rarity of the set.

TF/Trials work differently, though. The leader only has to go click on the contact (and only for the old ones, the new ones like DFB and the iTrials don't even HAVE a contact). You obviously know that... my point is that in a normal mission team, the leader has to do a lot more management, such as deciding WHOS mission to pick, setting the difficulty, recruiting people, etc.

The things I hate most are deciding on which mission to pick (I always feel selfish if I pick my own mission, even if it's just a radio), and trying to recruit people from a search window that's a pile of crap (why can you STILL not filter out people on teams? seriously, wtf!). I don't care at all if I have the star on a DFB since it really means nothing, and for old-school TFs that's just going and clicking the contact after a few missions, then just using the cell phone. Also not really a big deal.

I have a feeling a lot of people are of a similar mindset to me. They don't want to have to do all that micromanagement, especially going through that awful search window, through name after name that's on a team, sending IMs to the occasional person asking if they want to join, only to never get a response from the majority of them. Having the annoying part of the process automated would be nice. It wouldn't help regular mission teams, but at least something is better than nothing.

Now I would bet there are some people that use Boxing or Kick
Are there really? Way back, before the Brute changes, and before Brawl was buffed to not use any endurance, I used 'boxing' to help build fury on my Elec/Elec brute... it did utter crap for damage, and was all around a crappy power. Even then, I only used it because I had to take it to get Tough.

I wonder if there's anyone that actually uses it as an attack (not counting people that use it only for RP reasons). It seems to me that a lot of those crap pool powers should be buffed in some way. A straight damage buff probably isn't ideal... but giving them some sort of gimmic that makes them useful in some way would be nice. Same for Flurry (although at least it works pretty well for the "speedster" concept).

I imagine that they're not going to expand any of the other power pools until they're ready to extend all the rest. If they add a power like PB, it'll probably be similar to the Troller APP power that has a very long recharge (so it's only up part of the time).

If the devs decide to change the LFG system the biggest hurdle the devs have to overcome is creating something the players will want to use instead of the methods they prefer to use now.
For quite a large number of players, the "method they prefer to use now" is spamming /local in AP, /broadcast if they have it, and /help until someone invites them to a team... making a better system shouldn't be incredibly hard... the hard part, though, is to get the initial critical mass off the channel spamming method, otherwise players will try it, not get on a team, and then never use it again (i.e. what happened with LFG, just like the "Looking for *" statuses), resulting in a vicious cycle.

    HI

Not only is there a ton of new stuff, but the Devs would appear to have perma-Burnout going (check out the new travel pool powers! )

I did. I left feeling nauseous. And this was after they turned off the cel shading crap (or at least tuned it down, it looked a lot less horrible than the release screenshots I saw).

Some people came to the forum. Some people demanded the option to form closed leagues/teams. Which is a feature they should have had since they made it so 'LFG' was the only way to do iTrials.

The problem is using the LFG system for an individual trying to join a team is a joke. It's called the "Looking For Group" system (or at least that's what the button says!), so one would presume that its intended function is to look for a group. It's used, though, pretty much exclusively to start a trial for a pre-existing team (I'd bet most of which are largely PuGs). It's just replaced the old contact-that-you-click-on system. How is that an improvement?

The Devs should, really, either work to improve the whole 'LFG' aspect of it, or change its name (even 'Team Up Teleporter' suggests it's for 'Teaming Up' as the name says...). Using the /help channel is... quite frankly, pretty horrible (the S:N ratio is utter crap...).

I still think that making it so when the team isn't Locked/private, that a single open slot should allow someone with 'willing to join in progress' checked to join, would go a long ways towards that. That'll make it more likely that you'll be able to get on a team in a reasonable amount of time, which will get more people to use it... which will further decrease the wait time. They should also ditch the whole 'Avg Wait' (at least until they fix the major issue with it), and maybe instead show either the number of open slots on teams, or the number of people queued for that event (although that should basically never rise above 3-8 before a team is started, except for iTrials).

I'm currently queued in 6 different Trials/TFs (all that I can, except for DFB, Synapse, and Posi pt 1 which I'm tired of). I doubt I'll actually get on anything anytime soon using this method.

Actually being able to find a team easily and quickly, IMO, is the most frustrating aspect of this game, and really is what has driven me away. If you have friends in the game, it's much easier... until they quit the game. Then, you're pretty much cursed with PuGing the entire time.

    Loss of Settings

But not your graphic settings? The settings you mentioned are all, IIRC, stored with the character itself, not locally on your machine, so something weird must be goin on with NC's end...
  15. I was under the impression that the next arc would have it's own timer... but Hopeling is likely right, I don't think we've actually heard anything definitive one way or the other. Shared timer seems most likely... but only one way to find out!
  16. The Issue page would also be good to check out, if you know which Issues you missed. They generally always list what arcs were added/changed (especially if there was a zone revamp).

    You still can

(I'll let you guess how I know that )
  18. If I was the Devs, I'd a good while before an issue release add a few random NPCs that look... interesting... just scattered around. Not too many, but enough to get people curious. And then, just as silently, remove them. People will go nuts about them every time, the curiosity would kill people! Instant player-done marketing!

Windows will generally keep a pretty good sized page file... you generally won't have to have Windows increase the size unless something Bad (tm) is going on (if you're 8 GB into swap, you're likely in trouble already!).
  20. How about my take on this whole thing...

I've been coming and going playing CoH for a while now, primarily because virtually everyone I know that played CoH is gone, and the global channels I knew that were active (including generic server channels) are largely silent.

This leaves me with little options beyond PuGing if I want to play the game (I solo, but that's "when I can't/aren't willing to find a team" time... or if I'm playing content for the first time).

From my point of view, the "LFG" system is largely useless from the point of view of "looking for [a] group", because it's ineffective at that. A change I would like is the "willing to join in progress" checkboxes to check if the group is full not under the minimum (the leader should still be able to lock/make the team private... which I doubt most of the ones I've been with would bother to do, since they're basically just PuGs).

I've been on countless TFs/Trials where one random person simply leaves early on... it would be nice if the LFG system would (for willing teams) automatically add someone looking for that TF/Trial and willing to join one in progress. When I occasionally lead anything, I never care who joins (I've never said 'no' to anyone in all my years here... not counting "full"), but I rarely have the time to re-add people on the fly if it's just one or even two.

Earlier someone mentioned about getting the rewards with less work... how does the current system work WRT that? If that's a concern of the Devs, then I'm sure they could come up (the idea- implementation is another question) with a way to prevent it from being 'gamed' (such as proportionally scaling them down as the team is further along progress through it). I, quite frankly, wouldn't care if I joined a team half way through a TF and only got half the reward merits at the end.

As it stands now, the "LFG" system is largely just a way for team leaders to teleport everyone to the contact/into the mission automagically. Nothing wrong with a system that does that, but "LFG" it is not.

Edit: It would also be nice if the "First Available" buttons would work even if one item wasn't available... after all, they already limit it to what you can access based on your level!
  21. My gut instict is 'no', and according to RedTomax's guide, it's also no, as it's marked to ignore enhancements & buffs.
  22. Post a CoH Helper log, as well as a HiJack This report. It happening again and again at the exact same spot sounds like something on your system is messing with CoH.
  23. I thought about that, but I never did the trial, and never got the 15 day refer-a-friend bonus... But, being only 2 days off, it's probably something along those lines that just got slightly off.
  24. ALL ACCESS: Gameplay / Technical Issues & Bugs is a better place to post bug reports. Also you can /bug it in game.

Edit: Oh, and you can also /petition it in-game if the mission itself is simply bugged. A GM will possibly come and help you out. It's also possibly that it's an issue with your computer (some third party software might be hooking into all processes, causing CoH to puke at that moment... or any number of other things).
