Sometimes though it is better to use the check name feature before you create your character, it tends to save a lot of heartache.
[/ QUOTE ]
I ALWAYS do this. I always come up with the name first, and everything flows from there. But that's just me.
[/ QUOTE ]
I go both ways. Sometimes I have a concept (powers + costume + general 'feel'), and from there I get the name (how it happened for Essence Bleed, Kitsune Operative, Kinetic Theorum). Other times, I have the name, and then everything extends off of that (Regalia Knight is a prime example of that, DB/WP Scrapper I just made today). -

wut?
[/ QUOTE ]I'm sure Sofa King Stupid is taken... -
I've been making loads of characters over the last couple weeks... by the time I thought of a name I liked and tried it... it was always available!
And I have to agree 100% with Zek's list, about half of those I generally use myself before I find a name I like... and to reemphasize it, I'm gonna just freaking quote his list just for the hell of it:[ QUOTE ]

Multiple Words.
Hyphens.
Roman Numerals.
Imagination.
Random Generators.
Added Space In The Middle.
Just A Dot.
Imagination.
[/ QUOTE ]Basically, all the stuff in bold are my bread and butter for coming up with a character. A lot of my names come partly/fully from foriegn languages (mostly Japanese, with a little latin for good measure).
It's not hard to find good names that are available... It just takes a little effort. -

Hey, at least you came back to admit your mistake. That takes a lot, especially after seeing how your thread went down.
Kudos to you, good sir!

Indeed bravo dude, I am a bit sorry that it got a bit derailed...but man it was fun and glad you did not take any harm in it.

Firstly no, Scrappers just got anew set Shields that stalkers didn't. Why should Scrappers get /Nin besides the reason that you want it?
[/ QUOTE ] Why shouldn't they get it besides you wanting to be petty and vindictive?
[/ QUOTE ]Whats life without being petty and vindictive? It's not life I want to live, that's for sure!
[/ QUOTE ] I actually don't have a problem with it, I was just wondering if there were any other reasons.
If I had a problem with it I would have called him a bad word or something else mature.
[/ QUOTE ]My only problem with it is Stalkers need more powersets... so we're holding Ninjitsu hostage until we can get some... and none of that Dual Blades last minute crap! -

I think it's funny that because my views of the game, don't mesh with yours, that i must be lying when i say i have played the game for 5 years.
[/ QUOTE ]No, people question you because you say the devs should be doing X... except they're doing X, and they've been doing X!
[ QUOTE ]
Everyone has the right to express their views on the game, i've expressed mine, you don't agree with it?
[/ QUOTE ]Right, everyone has a right to expression their views on the game... even if they don't agree with yours. Remember, it goes both ways.
[ QUOTE ]
I never said the game needed to be perfect, and in fact the answer "OMG you mean the game is not perfect?" has probably been used many times, by many devotees on these forums, who feel anger when anyone has the nerve to point out some of the games short comings.
[/ QUOTE ]Its because you actually haven't made a real suggestion except some nebulous bull crap. -
[ QUOTE ]
Now I demand a hero for Bruce in game now, specifically him as good old vill.
[/ QUOTE ]Want... you want him to have a hero that's a villain? Aren't you getting into the spirit of Going Rogue a bit early? -

Do you play on Guardian?

He has two eyes. He's obviously never been to Guardian. -
For soloing, Fire/Nrg will probably be a pretty good bet as Fire/ is always a pretty good choice... although for *farming* /nrg won't be that great even now as it doesn't have *that* much AoE.
Really though, I think anything/nrg should perform pretty well now- I personally just rolled a Grav/Nrg for i15 and am loving it so far (although I haven't gotten to the point that I usually ditch /nrg). -

Uh. I dont see people running around doing AE missions. I see people doing those damned Radio missions over and over and over and over again. Honestly I don't mind doing a few when we first get a group going so we can get into the swing of things but I'd loce to do some other missions once and a while.
Part of the problem with the contact missions hero side is that the missions are spread all over the place. I don't mind going back to the contact but I do prefer the majority of a contacts missions to be in teh same zone. Such as with Villain side. Still there are ways to minimize that. Anywho. I want to see more regular missions to but I don't think what we curretnly have is ruining anything.
and over and over and over.
[/ QUOTE ]
Actually, part of the problem is there are two extremes with rewards. Either you want exp or you want merits. If you want merits, your only option is to do TFs. If you want exp, your best option is to do AE, or newspapers because they're short and easy and there's no travel time.
People don't do regular story arcs because they're crappy for both exp and merits.
[/ QUOTE ]
And unless you're the team leader, it's often a challenge to actually be able to read the story! -

Already got a good stock of new characters on Guardian (made 2 since i15 went live, and 2 more just days before that)!
Of course, I might have to play on Freedom anyways just to spite the people that complain about it being impossible to get on

Anecdotal Evidence doesn't apply to a conversation unless it's from the perspective of the person giving it.
I.E. Their Anecdotal Evidence trumps yours 'cause they can't get in. Meanwhile yours trumps -theirs- 'cause you got in.

[/ QUOTE ]Which is why I'll probably be on Freedom (while constantly logging on and off) just so I can shatter all their rants with a 'I logged on perfectly fine 45 times so far this hour

And this thread just proves how many of you hate Freedom server. Many of you admit it openly.
[/ QUOTE ]Yeah, I hate Freedom! That's why I'm a Freedom native, most of my characters are on Freedom, and even now I spend most of my time on Freedom even with my new projects on Guardian (only so many slots per server)!
[ QUOTE ]
If you were in favor of what is good for the game and its owners, you would want them to make as much money as possible.
[/ QUOTE ]They could raise the monthly fee to $50 a month... they'd surely make more money that way! Except when you realize that actions have repercussion, then things take some actual thinking. People were furious when the Devs first announced the in-game advertising, and more than a few people quit over it. And what did they get out of it? A failed advertising system that isn't even used anymore!
I want the developers/NC to be successful... but not by exploiting the playerbase, which'll only result in the failure of the game. Short term thinking can't ignore long term planning. -

As far as that texture mod goes, from what I heard.. nude characters were originally part of this game.
[/ QUOTE ]The 'nude textures' were just an artifact of how the bodies were shaped. -

I dunno Bill, lately a lot of the things that no one thought would come to the game are either here or on the way.
Flashbacks, side switching, body changing and power customization are a few that jump right out at me. Personally, I hope total respecs never see the light of day. But these guys have surprised me latley.
[/ QUOTE ]
Bill's copy pasta pretty much covers the reasons not to allow this functionality. As far as I am concerned, we'll never allow this...but, of course, I've been wrong before.
[/ QUOTE ]No, you haven't been. Except when you don't agree with me. Then you're wrong. -
[ QUOTE ]
think you are simply trying to figure out my adjenda, and it really pisses you off that i have been playing this game, and on these forums longer than most of you, and your knee-jerk response is to try and discount any validity of my criticism.
[/ QUOTE ]Yeah, we're all just jealous of you, that's obviously it. Your e-peen is soooo large!
[ QUOTE ]
Improvements to the game need to keep pace with player expectations.
[/ QUOTE ]This is inherently impossible to do for more than a moment. If you get close the player expectations in any way, shape or form, the expectations will grow, not only in magnitude, but in how quickly they increase. The improvements are constrained by reality, while expectations are constrained by imagination. And imagination always beats reality.
[ QUOTE ]
"City Of" has done some great work with some aspects of the game (crafting, AE, Game stability, AT diversity, etc.), and fallen short on others (level cap,SG base content, Cathedral of pain, debt in PVP zones to name a few)
[/ QUOTE ]In other words, CoX isn't perfect? Stop the presses, we gots ourselves a headliner! -

[ QUOTE ]
I can't believe the game owners haven't already done this.
[/ QUOTE ]Maybe because the idea is hilariously bad for a number of reasons, including costing a large amount of money to develop, outraging the player base, as well as being silly? -
Grav/ is still a bit questionable, but /ea is now a very good secondary.

With priority access, you move to the front of the line of your desired server.
[/ QUOTE ]FYI, there is no line. You can pay the devs all you want to be at the front of your own little imaginary line. -
Try joining one of your servers' globals channels, those are generally far better for forming TF/SFs than spamming people with tells.
