In the user control panel, you can just click the minimize button ([-]) next to "Latest Reputation Received" and it'll hide that from you.

Interesting find! And it's rather easy to rationalize them working that way: You don't wanna shoot a missile at someone that's right in front of your face, due to the splash damage hitting you nearly as much as them!
-
Going Rogue will make this pointless, due to the side switching capabilities
Edit: And Villains don't really need a pure-damage class... because all of them are more focused around damage than their hero counterparts
And no to turning Controllers into Masterminds... Controllers are already the most overpowered class in the game as it is! -

I say we beat up the OP for having a 3 day weekend.

Quote:Speak for yourself, buddy! I ain't got no 3 day weekend...
so do we get anything else special for our 3 day weekend? -
I'm already set for life. Now I wanna see the Forum Cookie Cartel go down in flames... leaving me the sole survivor... and RULER OF THE WORLD!
Of course, there is no Forum Cookie Cartel, so I'm obviously just speaking nonsense... -
Quote:The amount of abuse (not counting the threads that simply incite the abuse... like people complaining about it) is rather small, IME.My ignoring it does not make a given system have value or add to the general intelligence-level of these boards. And both systems in question are like something thought up by the lowest common-denominator that used to haunt the PWNz forum [with apologies to Reiraku and Xury, who are exempt from that comment].

Quote:Actually, you can still trademark your version of Thor, but it's still in the public domain (in fact, I just did a search... and there's a huge *** load of trademarks on 'Thor' in different markets). 'Archangel' wouldn't fall into the public domain from the mythos, as it wasn't a character/person, it was a title (or position/rank/class/etc)... It's quite an important difference.Try again, the image of Thor, god of thunder is restricted. The name thor cannot be restricted, due to the fact it has been in use for thousands of years. If i made a comic book with a character named GOD, i could not get a trademark on the use of the term god.

Quote:Isn't it set so you can't get to the tutorial? They could also add a level check to make sure you're under level 2.Here's what I see wrong with the idea. It could be abused terribly.
What about people with the mission teleporter?
Have a high level character log in a secondary account on a new toon standing in Outbreak. Make sure the new toon has the final door mission.
Team up, and the high level character teleports in and runs to the free tailor.

Quote:How is flat out removing them going to improve anything? Other than, you know, I'll stop getting negative rep for suggesting people do the OBVIOUS solution that'd make everyone happy.
It's just turned into an extension of the forum games. I can ignore that easy just by not going to the forum or putting people on ignore. The tags are just being used as a way for immature people to be mean or off topic "anonymously." -
Quote:Not co-op... My villains would much rather join forces with Darrin Wade to bring the Ravenger into our realm!
2: Make it co-op! not everyone is a hero-side player! -
Quote:If you don't like it, just ignore it. Now, was that so hard?.... in short, very junior-high, just like the appallingly junior-high concept of rating other users. Its just like we got zapped back to 7th grade. "Inane" is a very apt word for the whole stupid concept.
Metaphorically speaking, I was glad to get out of junior high and have no desire to revisit it.... even on a message board. -

I gotta agree completely. I've posted a few videos of really neat places I've found in CoH (some of which take the magic of Demo Editing to get to), but this game is really lacking them, IMO.
The Shadow Shard is massive, yet it's so sparse that there's really not that much there (the face, the chair, and a couple other things... over FOUR massive zones! that's all!)... not to mention the zones are nearly COMPLETELY lacking content (no story arcs outside the task forces! what the hell!) as well as using the early CoH technologies (so it's basically completely static... with a few mobs doing an animation... but otherwise everyone just standing around in groups like they've got nothing better to do!).
There's lots of ways the devs could expand on the whole exploration aspect of CoH (Cimerora, IMO, is pretty nice in this regard, although it's small), and most of the newer content has been moving in this direction (whether intentionally, or simply as a side effect of having better tools to work with)... I wouldn't be surprised if the Praetorian zones have lots of little things to explore... I would also really like if eventually we got a majorly revamped Shadow Shard (it'd make the Faultline revamp look like nothing!), it seems like the ultimate story for CoH, yet so far it's hardly been explorered at all (I guess the Devs could just be saving it as a final, massive trump card...).
And yes, I'm just rambling now. -

Wait until i16 comes out in a few weeks.... POWER CUSTOMIZATION! You can see some of the options that are available in the videos in my YouTube profile.

The only thing he can do to get his name back is to escalate the support ticket and make a case for being unrelated to the marvel character, but in fact more so akin to the biblical thingimabober, or, go the crazy math teacher route.
Might win and get the name back, or might lose and... would be in the same spot he is now. If you (well, he) thinks he has a good case, he might as well. It's largely a judgment call by the GMs. -

That's a bad example, because that's not a comic book character. Trademarks are market specific. Also, 'Wolverine' destroys your claim that it can't be something generic... since I guarantee you that if a small publisher came out with a comic featuring a character named 'Wolverine'... even if it was NOTHING like Marvel's character... they'd get sued, and they'd lose.
Trademark law, also, is something that the owner is REQUIRED to be proactive about... if you trademark something, and others start using that trademark (in the same market, mind you!) without your permission, and you do nothing about it for long enough... you'll lose your trademark! The standard 'solution' to this problem is to sue the hell out of anyone that goes near your name (what DC and Marvel do, and did to NC), I've seen about 1 company that did the reverse and grant them a very limited license to use their name (it was a parody website making fun of them/their product), which was an excellent move from a PR point of view, as it made them look good, instead of like a bunch of heartless [censored]s.
And then, there's also copyright law. That's a whole 'nother mess altogether (oh, and then there's trade dress, which has to do with trademark). -
