I'll also mention this because I almost forgot. I was in the aura of a kins transfusion just yesterday a few times and didn't even get the benefit of it. Like I said weird.
If the target dies in the middle of casting, it'll still animate but give no benifit.

it's hard to get a scientific analysis for what is going on because I can't isolate each scenario and make them all exactly the same.
Use the Real Numbers (Combat Monitor, combat log, and power analyzer/survelliance).

Also, remember that AE enemies, ESPECIALLY ArchVillains, get optional access to VERY strong powers, including powers that resist debuffs, as well as debuff you (including your ability to debuff). Testing against variable, arbitrary AE enemies to determine if you're staying effective is simply futile.

Could be... but that still leaves a rather large window to stealth edit! After 5 minutes or so I'll try editing again and see if it gets the little message added then...
  3. The problem might be the lack of a file extension. Try just using imageshack.us, it's free (no reg required also) and I've used it for all my avatar needs.

This and also because on the old forums when changed their posts they had the ability to stealth edit. Meaning they could suppress the little message that told us the post was edited.
I'm fairly certain you can still stealth edit on these boards... at least the last time I edited a post, I was surprised when I saw it didn't say that it had been edited. Lets find out!

    This post was EDITED!

    New features

What do you mean 'edit the characters history'? What history?

Alot of the NPC's in the game tell me to go to the Mission Architect and do missions there.
Yeah, the Devs were a bit too vigorous with those messages when they added Architect Entertainment to the game

I'd try heading over to the Hollows and working on those story lines. The revamped Hollows are pretty nice from what I hear (I still need to get around to playing this...)
  7. What's the link to the avatar? Make sure it's a direct link to the image.

Check the Tech Support & Issues section of the forum. Based on that message, I take it you're on Vista (possibly 7)? There's any number of reasons that could be happening, from simply buggy drivers, to the video card over heating, to the video card dying, to an error in CoH, etc.

Please post your CoHHelper and HiJack This logs (you can find links to them in the a-fore-mentioned section of the forum, in the common solutions and something-an-other thread, IIRC) so we have more info.
  9. So, in other words, it's basically just Pidgin marketed at gamers, with built in twitter and junk?

Because other people might have responded by the time I did. The old forums and a Re: section to see who you were responding to, but these don't so without quotes it becomes challenging to see WHAT someone is responding to. IMO, it's good "habbit" () to quote something that you're responding to.

    Quote:
in real life you dont adress people you talk to by their names?
If I'm writing a response to something, I'll quote it first. This is how I write in papers (because otherwise it's rather pointless). When having a conversation in person, you're not relying on mere letters, you've got context clues from the person's expressions, who the person is facing, etc. You lose a lot when you think that written and verbal communication's only difference is one is spoken and one is written. (which is why I use oh so many emoticons in my writing... I actually don't use as many on these forums as I do in other places.... and it's quite a challenge to avoid using them in formal writings which pisses me off so much).

    Quote:
or you just repeat everything they just said when you're in a conversation.
It's good to repeat key pieces if there's any sort of extended delay in the conversation, like you'd have on these forums. And on these forums, it's just easy to just hit the 'quote' button than having to formulate it directly into the response.

sorry for the off topic message but felt like mentioning this bad habbit i see on this forum.
I find it's a bad "habbit" to completely ignore the context. I mean, after all, you quoted my whole post Why would you do that, especially when calling such a thing a bad habit?

    Forum style?

Villains, because I can't actually read the text on the Heroes skin (it just messes with my eyes).

I'm lvl 10 now ... I've been trying to do some of the Architect Missions, but the people either die too easily and I get a small amount of XP or I can't fight the enemies. Any good Story Arcs to try?
Most Architect Missions are designed to challenge high level characters... so unless you go for Lowbie Friendly Mission Arcs... you'll likely have a lot of trouble.

If you're on a Villain, you should head to Port Oakes or even Cap Au Diable, and run some newspaper missions to get a contact for a story arc, etc. If you're on blue side... either Kings Row, Skyway, or The Hollows... the first two you get the story arcs via the Radio/Police Band- while The Hollows you start with a contact.

More information would really be useful (at a minimum which faction you're on... AT, powersets, and server are also useful info).

    New costume sets

Oh! Nearly forgot to mention, but the best place to make costume suggestions is in Jay's Costume Request Thread in the Developer's Corner section, since Sexy Jay (the main costume guy) reads all the posts in that thread and generally doesn't visit the S&Is forum.

    New costume sets

You mean a Cheongsam/ch'i-p'ao? I think that'd be a nice addition, although it'd probably cause issue with the 'one cape' semi-rule on players characters.

Also maybe a Komono also would be cool too.
Would probably be hard to get to look right in animations (it'd be akin to animating a long robe), but I'd like to see it eventually.

I did not say it made games bad, I said it was considered a good thing when they moved away from that to hand crafted maps.

Edit: And like was already said, a randomly generated world just isn't going to have the same depth as one where somebody took the time to put in those neat little touches.

    No. Not in the slightest.

The automated download is the pre-download for Issue 16, so that when Issue 16 is actually released, you only need the diff from that pre-download to the final release, instead everything from i15 to i16 (so less load on their servers).

Tis' just because you were used to the old forums.

A type of portal needs to be invented or discovered that can transport explorers to dimensions and parallel worlds that have never been explored. The only way for the devs to allow this experience successfully, every time or nearly every time, is to procedurally generate these worlds via programming algorithms.
Old RPGs used to do stuff like this. It was considered a very good thing when this practice was ended, as a randomly generated world is never going to be as nice as a predefined, hand crafted world.

Makes me wonder if this whole section is a big joke for the company we preferably do not talk about. (Not to mention how people see to respond to suggestions and ideas)...

    ...oh, well...
This section was moved (from the Development section) here after a string of incidents involving a few infamous posters reported about every single post in this entire section and every thread turned into a flame war. Also, our beloved hero JRanger fell in the final battle. His struggle shall never be forgotten! /JRanger!

(although, a lot of people felt that JRanger was just as bad if not worse Either way, S&I is here because people didn't behave).

    In game Lotto

Just like the real lottery, it seems like a giant waste of inf. Then again, if 50% of the inf used to buy tickets vanished into the ether instead of being given back out, I'd say it might have some merit... and again, it'd work even MORE like the real lottery!

Secondly, I went rafting last weekend and nearly died (seeing another raft shooting over a rapid and about to land on your face kinda makes you regret not posting more useful links in random posts...)... so I'll pass on that for a while
  22. Do you mean the thread subscription system? Or do you mean this list (you can get to that by going to your profile -> Statistics -> "Find all posts by Battlebabe_NA")?

First, and this is not a question just a note, the little uncloseable trial version window. I'm fine with it popping up at login and I move it to the corner of the screen, but then it pops back to the middle again everytime I enter a mission or building which is annoying /end rant.
I don't remember that back when I used a trial... although that was at least a year ago... that's an odd change.

    Quote:
My first question is about the missions. Around level 6 I went to my new contact who basically had a series of missions that were a choice between killing X-number of guys or enter warehouse and destroy/find 3 boxes of X.
Contacts typically are more interesting a bit later in the game... especially for hero side, where most of the starting contacts are pretty stupid (Faultline is hella good, though!)

    Quote:
Second question is about respecs. One of my contacts (think it was Ms. Liberty) said there are 3 opportunities to respec that are one-time only. So after the third respec I can never respec again?
There are 3 respec trials, so you can get 3 earned respecs. Also, pretty much each issue they give out a free respec (dubbed freespec), but they won't stack with priorly given respecs. You can also buy one from the NCSoft store with real money, or buy a respec recipe in game from the BM/WW/get it as a random drop. There's also respecs from veteran rewards (vetspecs).

Oh, and there's also your alternative build, which you can kinda think of as a respec (although it's not).

You're a hero, you're allowed to defy logic. In fact, it's recommended!
  25. Only reason I can see CoH shutting down within 5 years with what's coming is if the devs get REALLY drunk, and accidentally wipe everything. All their backups, their version control system, the character database, the source on all their machines, etc!

That'd be hard to explain to management
