Quote:I'd say most definitely not. The other ATs do get stronger, but so do Defenders. They do have decent (even if not very great) damage, but they also have amazing (de)buffs. You could argue that Controllers step on their toes quite a bit, but Defenders also step on Controller's toes at the same time- yet at the same time they're synergistic. People tend to like having lots of (de)buffs, not just a single (de)buffer doing all the work.
“Are Defenders are in general made redundant by character progression, and if so, what improvements could be made to adress this?”
My actual play experience in the low, middle, and high end game would suggest that they never become redundant, and they're always a very popular choice for teams.
Might they benefit from some tweaking? I think that's a wholy different matter than becoming redundant.
(and, fyi, no AT is required for anything in this game... welcome to CoX- It's not your typical MMO)

More styles for bases? Most definitely a good idea!

Quote:The truncation issue is exactly why I want them to be filtered. Seeing that you have 200 results, and only 30 of which are shown, 25 of which are already teamed... is just stupid. You can sorta (but not quite) do this already by ignoring the greyed-out names. (although they are still there, wasting space on the list and often causing it to be truncated, which cuts out potentially available players).
Quote:You can also filter out those who are flagged as "Not looking for team". Granted, some of those are teamed already (You don't look for that which you've already found. ) and some of the rest are simply on the default because they haven't turned on thier flag.
Quote:I don't invite people who aren't flagged, even though that cuts down my options. -
Also, even more so than ever, with Super Sidekicking coming up in i16, level matters little.
I'd like to see Teams being able to set statuses for themselves (LFM toggle, then a content type flag/co-op enabled), and then a search window for players to find teams that are looking for members. The team listing in search should say both the team's average level, as well as the level of the current mission (or maybe the star if none are set?).
In addition to that, I'd like to see the current search window to include a way to filter the people that are already on a team... If I'm trying to build a team, I'm most definitely not interested in the people already on a team. -
Scrappers don't need a buff for stylistic purposes...

IIRC, the rifle butt strike has a much longer animation time than brawl... so it's very unlikely to happen.

Quote:No, not in the slightest. There are many times where I'm having to fight off the team invites! There are teams where I go a while "looking", but usually that's because I'm being extraordinarily lazy and not actually looking for a team (i.e. not using my resources well... not using my globals, not using coalition, and not using the search dialog). When I'm not being lazy, I never have trouble finding 5+ people for a team, even for the least popular tasks in the game.
Wouldn't you agree that lack of teams,or teaming is destroying the game too?
I'm sorry (purely a figure of speech), but the issue appears to be a PEBKAC. Either because of your attitude driving people off, or of your attitude being hypersensitive.
Quote:but..if it is okay with all of you...i still find myself...not caring..what you all think : ) The reason I'm responding to this thread is because it's like a car crash... you just can't take your eyes off of it 'cause you know how messy it's gonna be

Also, for future reference, the trains are a bit funky at times, and sometimes it won't let you click on it while the doors are already open, and you'll have to wait for the current train thats there to leave.
And just for the curious, the 'next stop' message, while completely pointless now in the game, has to do with the trains originally not having a menu... you'd have to ride the train from zone to zone, not being able to skip directly to your destination. -
Well, how many possible combos (total in the game, not just your list) are there that 1) don't result in gimping (i.e. self defense + (de)buff: neigh zero damage) while 2) being distinct from what's already in the game (i.e. pri:(de)buff sec:control is extremely similar to controllers already)? I think the actual number would be quite few (pairing Henchmen with a few other secondaries is the only thing that jumps out to me, and maybe (de)buff with melee damage), so it might be better suited to just add those as brand new ATs (story driven or otherwise).
I don't think this suggestion has the same inherent issues that a completely free-form power system has, but I'm not sure if it really adds much above an AT system (maybe thinking of it as 'AT-lite'). -

Quote:I take it you aren't aware what 'sans' means"See that... that code. That code what you wrote? That's right. That lumpy excresence of noisome fecal matter. That's what's wrong with this whole thing. And it's your fault because you're rubbish!"
I could do that job -
I think I might understand... I think he's pointing out that from a gameplay perspective, a global channel that isn't server specific will run into issues when people want to do more than just chat, and want to organize a team for something. With super sidekicking, level matters hardly little, so if the player has a character on that server, they can just play it. If they don't, they could just roll a new character and join up without having to worry about finding mentors.
I believe that's what he was getting at. The idea isn't really new, it's the application to global channels that before were largely limited to be social gathering places rather than being able to be teaming places. -
Oh! Can I get in on this deal? I'd love to have a second account that isn't just a trial! (plus, I really liked that trial's global name...)

Quote:Apparently you're smoking crack, 'cause Villains get itI looked at that power. Suddenly the whole idea of Elec became shiney and new.
And the villains don't get it! MUAHAHAHAHA! Wait... I play villains too... Damn!
Hell, the numbers I posted were from the Stalker version -
Quote:Extensions are a rather ugly hack, but they do make an excellent fallback, which is why Windows, OS X, KDE, and GNOME all use them to some extent. Metadata stored in the filesystem can be lost whenever the file is transferred (i.e. over the internet, to another file system, to an archive, etc) so it's generally not seen as a practical complete replacement. Metadata in the file requires being able to parse the file, at least to a limited extent (magic numbers, like the shebang (#!) in shell scripts, are an easy way to pull this off when you control the format), although for plain text files this is rather messy as they can start with arbitrary values, so without some external way to define the file type, files with similar contents would be considered the same file type (i.e. the OS might get confused and think a html and a svg files should be opened by the same program, while two php files are considered two different file types).... honestly, extensions should be dead and gone. IIRC, back when I was using OS/2, they were used for the sake of compatibility - the metadata with each file said what could open it. That was a good decade ago and more. The old Apple OSes were the same way - OS X brought back extensions, even though it hides them. (Not sure how "needed" they are, but they're there.) Pretty sure BeOS dumped them too.
... yes, I used to run a host of OSes for the heck of it. 5-6 at one point on one machine. (DOS, 95/98, BeOS, OS/2, and usually some flavor of pre-GUI Linux. which typically didn't last long, or something in beta. I liked Be and OS/2. *shrug*)
In other words, this is all just one big mess -

Quote:What parenthesis?
I had to remove the parentheses There weren't any in the posts already posted.
Also, do you have four costumes on that character? '3' would be the fourth slot, not the third. -
Make sure the option isn't set to only show recipes you can afford.
