  1. You can download mid's at cohplanner.com

Base damage is what Aggelakis said, enhanced with 2 acc/dam HOs and a 50 damage IO it goes up to 398.3, so about what you're getting, some mobs have resist and etc. Putting more damage there won't make a difference since it's already at the ED cap.

And no it wasn't nerfed, no melee attack does 780 damage alone, at least on Tankers, Scrappers and Blasters (Brutes get close with ET at 100% fury). Tanker ET is almost as damaging as scrapper Concentrated Strike, which is one of the highest damaging scrapper attacks.

Yeah I do that on mine, but when I get near level 30 I start enhancing the damage because due to mob HP scaling it's the time I begin to feel the need for damage slotting (like Stalker AS, it's OMG in the low levels and at lvl 30 even slotted you can only one-shot orange lts).

That makes Brutes smoother than Scrappers for leveling imo since Scrappers really need dmg enhancement asap. But an endgame build on a Stj/Sr Brute will be basically the same as the scrapper.
  3. Your SG loses prestige every time you log in.
  4. I like the idea, I'd go for automatic reward merits, making a contact would overcomplicate things imo. That'd make people want to run regular tfs maybe - the only kill all high end tfs I see nowadays are 'shard ITFs', but ITF has an unusual number of mobs (since the shard drop rate is low, you need a tf with tons of enemies) and shards are vip-only.
  5. Wow I love the troller forums, ask for feedback on any other forum and it'll take days to get this many posts.

Thanks a lot guys! I took one to 18 and elec control is definitely fun to me (I'm a teamer btw, I hate soloing even on my Scrappers/Brutes, I have melee toons stuck in Praetoria and First Ward because I want to read the story and etc but well... I do 1 or 2 missions and log out or switch when ppl invite me).

I did tale some alphas on purpose with Static field, and even unslotted on a tips mission with 53s it hit enough mobs that I didn't die because of it (and when I used yellows it slept everybody after two pulses, so I took one or two ranged attack at most when 'having accuracy').

But you bring some good points... Therm is fun, but very power and slot hungry. I made a tentative build that's quite a bit more expensive than I'd probably have and even with 84% global rech melt armor isn't perma even when Hasten is up, while Sleet is awesome with SOs (I have played plenty with it on Stormies). Heat Exhaustion looks nice tho. But since I wanted the whole secondary plus Leadership and Rock Armor/S.Smash/Fissure (since Elec likes melee) the endgame build lacks jolting chain and paralyzing blast (and elec fence but I always skip the ST immob).

I also found myself standing back most of the time since I didn't have much reason to go melee - guess that's why elec/stone is a popular Dom combo. Although I do love the heals and resist shields, not sure I'm keen on having fortitude and clear mind-like powers again (the reason is that the toon I played the most is a Mind/Emp, very busy toon and when I got her perma-hastened in i12 iirc - well when purples were released - Fortitude recharging so fast was the main reason I got tired of playing her, too much teammate clicking). Also, Melt Armor... almost the recharge of Oil Slick Arrow, and while OSA is amazing I hate the recharge on that power.

Maybe I'll try Cold or even Kin (tired of Rad which I considered and I hate Poison, deleted a 30 corr), with DFB it's fast to get to 18 again. The main reason in the end is that this is a combo that requires too many slots and power picks for no special synergy.

Edit: screw that I made a build I'm quite pleased with (got softcap) so I'm gonna give her another chance, I'll probably pick the AoE hold instead of leadership when leveling and stuff - not very keen on picking Assault but oh well, maybe I'll get Earth's Embrace and put a recharge there, dunno.

  7. So Elec is the only control set that interests me but I've never played past 12 (made an elec/thorns dom but tired of doms).

I've never played Thermal either, and since it has a -end power it looks like it synergizes (sp?) well with elec. I also like the resist shields because everybody and their mother has defense especially in the endgame.

So is it a good combo? I'll try making a build but it seems very slot demanding... And Melt Armor looks like a much worse version of Sleet with a very long recharge (I'm mentioning Sleet because I'm considering /Cold). Also, I know Jolting Chain is usually skipped in end builds but does it really help in leveling? Or does it become unnecessary when you reach SO level?

I don't like to solo so not asking which one can do uber stuff (I know any/cold can), it's mostly for trials and high end tfs.

So I'd like opinions on the elec/therm combo while I try to think of a concept and a build . Thanks!

Ya know, the thought crossed my mind - when I was posting that, I was thinking about my Broot - he's permahasten, spiritual, ageless etc, and now that I'm bored with him he became an agricultural tool. Basically my farming tray is:

    1 - Footstomp
    2 - Burn
    3 - Ball Lightning
    4 - Elec Fences
    5 - Pyronic
    6 7 8 - three 'convert to reds' macros
9 - convert to small purples
    0 - delete wakies

So basically I use two powers from the set, Rage (bound to a key) and FS. Ok on normal gameplay I also used KO Blow and (not so often after I IO'ed him) Haymaker. Well ok sometimes Taunt, I tanked with him on a few ITFs and LGTFs.

This one was self-PL'ed but I do have a 35 on another server leved the regular way and boy, SS is a pain before 34 (only at 34 I could get FS to a decentish recharge on SOs). And despite the fact I can Tank with my IO'ed SS/Fire because he kills everything so fast and has tons of recharge for healing flames and stuffs, I have no desire to play him outside of farming because I find him boring even being the most ZOMGDMG toon I have.

What issues? My Brute has no issues with this set

I never saw any Tanker complaining about it either.
  10. Did the last episode have a Trainspotting reference or what? Also, the Shining (some people say it reminded them of The Exorcist).

    SG is calling!

I see it as a convenient excuse most of the time (I bet anyone who has kids here used the 'baby aggro' excuse since it's works for everything, including a phone call you want to end lol).

The only times it bothered me was when it was used in TFs. Twice that I can remember, one right after we started and another in the middle. And no the teams weren't bad, all went well, etc. Actually on most 'doomed' TFs I've been on, players have been honest like saying 'Sorry guys I don't think we can do it' or 'This is taking too long irritating me, sorry'. I like that kind of honesty because it's a game, if you're getting pissed by a task people will usually understand why you're leaving.

But using the SG or any other excuse on a normal mission team is ok, no need to explain yourself on a PuG since it's not a commitment like a long TF.

Personally, I usually leave it on Team or League because that is where the vast majority of my chat goes, plus they tend to be the most time-sensitive messages: the difference between typing "I am disintegrating" or typing that, then backspacing over it and re-typing "/league I am disintegrating" can be life and death. But YMMV.
This. I never use the buttons.

I use the slash command for broadcast, local, help and sg (/b, /l, /h, /sg).

For tells to someone nearby, you can just click on them and press ',' (comma, although I'm not 100% positive it's the same key for everyone, I use a different keyboard layout, I think it is).

Since I hate even clicking on the words 'Team:' 'Local:' etc to change, I have a bunch of binds for global channels. I use numpad 7, 8, 9 for my global channel binds, I have them all on a notepad file and just copy paste them on new toons. That changes depending on the server I'm on, but for example, my binds for Virtue are:

    /bind numpad7 beginchat /send "Virtue TFs"
    /bind numpad8 beginchat /send "Virtue LFG Beta" [$name, $level]:

(the $name $level thing shows your toon's name and level after your global if you want to use that - also there's a space at the end of each bind).

I found a quote by Impish Kat (I don't use the extra quotations marks tho):

    Quote:
    /bind key "beginchat /send "channel name" {$name, $level $archetype} "

This will automatically start in the chatline when you hit the designated key (no need to hit "enter" first). The info in the brackets is completely optional (leave them out completely if you like). Just remember to leave a space before the last quotation marks.
  13. After creating your costume you're asked five times if you're really sure you want to enter the game with that toon.
  14. I'd go for it. I have altitis, I'm satisfied with a lot of non min-max toons that would be nice to get IO'ed up with less effort and then still be good to play for things like SSAs and accolade hunting.

I have some farmers and I can farm the hell and back (or run tips) till I get all the IOs I want, but it's just too boring for me. This is a game, I want to have fun

The guys who have 25 billion builds and feel 'special' because of it may be against it (like the altoholics and non-av soloers like me actually give a damn if their purpled builds can do 50 more dps or the pylon time or whatever), as well as NCSoft since now there's the market with attuned enhancements - in the end they just spent more time on their toons, which is ok but not everyone wants to play a toon so much, the times I did that and purpled out my 3 'min max' toons, I grew bored from them and wanted to try new powersets.

Anyway I'd like the change because after all, it still wouldn't be exactly easy to 'purple out a warshade' (the usual definition of a hardcore player). And for us who like to team and get bored to tears when soloing, the iTrials are a perfect example that player skill is more important and as long as your build isn't terrible, it can be moderately IOed so that you can do any of them while some 20 bil toons are dying all the time.

Ironically, I can use farmer SS/Fires as an example. I was PL'ed for free the other day by a fella who kept saying he was proud of his build and that it cost 30 billion, had 150% recharge, etc. Sure he was good, but my main farmer (also an SS/Fire) cost less than 2 bil, has more recharge and more AoEs due to my power selection (for example I don't have to use KO Blow to kill 54s with bosses, that player had to). Not saying I'm awesome at builds or anything, just that in a team setting, even on a farming setting, you're not likely to notice one of the toons in your teams is 'zomg purpled build'. PvP is a different case, but again, player skill is more important (at least until i12 because I can't comment about the revamped pvp, barely touched it).

Also, that would be sweet for exemping. But I don't see it happening anyway... And I'm not technically proficient to be sure on how much effort the change would require, even if ncsoft wanted it, since the market would have to be revamped.

And well maybe even the min maxers who are proud to have spent so much time and effort on their builds would be bothered by this, since I've seen recent threads from newish players saying 'so I saw Joe Whatever's awesome blaster/scrapper/Ws build and I replicated it now I'm having trouble with this and that' - meaning that even being new the player has at least the knowledge and influence/patience to replicate a top end build, didn't seem to bother the min/maxers, the replies I saw were usually helpful.
  15. If you try to choose 'Helper' status the game shows a popup with 'NO WAY!'.
  16. Well yeah that just shows how badly some sets were ported to stalkers.

    1) MA for example, even on scrappers/tankers there's absolutely no reason to get both Cobra Strike and Crane Kick, they're the same power with different secondary effects now. Thunder Kick is lol anyway, only Tankers don't skip it because they can't (and Storm Kick on Tankers is really awesome, I have a cheap build for my sd/ma that I'll probably never level past 30 that hits the incarnate softcap with one storm kick, I barely tried to go for defenses, she's softcapped with SK now on SOs and a Steadfast). She doesn't have Crane Kick, I picked Cobra, and even on SOs it looks like if I ever level her to get Eagle's Claw I would want to ditch Thunder kick if it didn't apply bruising.

    2) EM suffers because you have to pick either Barrage or Energy Punch, I'll just leave EP unslotted or put a nucleolus in there when I respec, I barely use it now especially on itrials where I prefer the ranged ST epic blast.

    3) DB is still weird. You have to pick all the attacks from what I see. While my 38 DB/Elec scrapper skipped the tier 1 (I ignored Empower and Weaken, they're meh anyway) and even though she's frankenslotted, I can use the BF-Attack Vitals chain almost gaplessly (I have 20% global rech from L. Reflexes). She is a little AoE monster on teams, because since I don't have to rely on complex mechanics for any combo, when I'm surrounded by enemies I use BF - Sweep (which is 1k cuts-Power Slice-Typhoon) - BF (if I want, just for double stacking) - Attack Vitals (Ablating-Vengeful-Sweeping). It's all very straighforward as long as I don't miss, and I'm not 'wasting' any attacks just to get a combo off, they're all doing their thing on their own, so I can Sweep-AV indefinitely and that is serious AoE mitigation and damage, and there is no long recharging power that I need to use to do my combo madness. Btw the scrapper record on Pylons before incarnate shenanigans is from a DB/ELA build (then a lot of dm/shields, fm/shields), so scrapper DB is awesome ST and AoE.
  17. I saw a player yesterday and her power descriptions, set bonuses, etc, were all in French - that on Freedom (not talking about the bio, but the powers, and things like set names - 'ultimate recovery bonus, luck of the gambler recharge, all in French). It's the first time I saw that in years, is that a bug? I even checked my toon's info to see if it had changed that instance and it was all English, like my interface has always been.

The other players I saw the info were English too. I'd like to have my powers and bonuses in French lol.
  18. I tested for a bit (was gonna join EvilRyu's Stalker LRSF and the lights went out, woohoo), and now I'm glad for two things:

    1) That I decided to wait before respeccing my main toon I hadn't played for 2 years before deciding to Incarnate her (EM/Nin, old i12 PvP build) - because she won't be needing Energy Punch anymore (although I have to pick it) so more free slots for other stuff. Also, I seemed to have 3 AF most of the time but well she's EM so attacks are slow, but hey something good for EM in this buff, who would've guessed!

    2) That I forgot to delete my ELM/Regen lol, she might be much better now with a strong ST attack (AS outta Hide) that all the other ELM ATs wish they had plus the new HP cap making Regen viable.

But... Claws and Martial Arts already had too many ST attacks, now what lol. On the other hand, DB might be much better now, I'm considering one since I find my DB/ELA scrapper a damage monster since SOs and now in her 40s I don't even use the PbAoE that much except when I wanna execute the Sweep combo. I also may finally be able to stomach a Spines toon with the new AS, who knows - these changes really add up to the AT.

The only thing I could ask for (wishful thinking) would be some debuffs in the epics/patrons so they could resemble Rogues from other games - like Banes already do, with team buffs and offensive debuffs. But hey Brutes have Darkest Night and Doms have Link Minds, one can dream...
  19. 'VIP Playstyle', 'stay with the right crowd', I must be missing cool stuff by not playing on Exalted

Seriously you guys are not giving the OP a good impression. I haven't seen drama on X but I only played there with some ingame mates who stopped playing in the server (no idea why) so I did too.

    SS and more aoes

That said, yes, SS probably should be revamped so that its efficacy is distributed throughout the set rather than baked into three powers. I would never play a SS character with rage functioning as it does today, but if they nerfed it and nixed the crash I'd have to consider it.
FootStomp isn't really unbalanced when you look at the power alone. It does a smidgeon more damage than TW's whirling smash (if you factor in the 85% chance of DoT) but WS is on a 14 sec recharge, FS has a 20 sec one. Spin has less radius but does a lot more damage and also, 14 sec recharge (Brutes).

What makes it so good (in fact what makes the whole SS powerset great) is that with Rage you're basically in perma-build up mode.
  21. Well I've resumed playing her, lvl 38 now, made another build, has quite a bit less +hp, but the s/l defenses look much nicer with agility. I had done a 45% s/l but I formatted my Windows partition and forgot to save it

Also note that Stalkers have a 50% chance for stun in Energy Transfer instead of the 60% that Tankers and Brutes have.

The only 10% chance for stun in the not-deliberately-gimped-just-to-mess-with-one-AT-version is in Barrage.

As for i22 chances to EM... I don't see any on beta at the moment.
Wow. I thought the chance to stun was the same. I'd be happy with 60% on Bone Smasher, I guess that'd allow EM to stun more reliably than KM with low tier attacks (and as said, KM has plenty of other stuff going).

So my main villain has an even gimpier version of EM... That's awesome lol. Thanks for correcting me btw, I know this is the Brute section, but well who'd guess they gimped Stalker EM for no reason compared to the other ATs? That's why I went to the Stalker section (I was there anyway), I'd never imagine the attacks would have a different chance to stun. That's weird.
