However, endurance reduction in the toggles is less effective than in the attacks - so if there are gasp-worthy endurance problems replacing a damage slot here or there with endurance reduction will help more than the toggles.
Heh sorry I missed the scrapper part, I was half asleep when posting that.
I also prioritize damage on my (few) scrappers, but usually 1endred in each attack even if I have to use only like, 2 damage DOs instead of 3. Anyhow the DFB trial + Posis gets you to level 22 pretty fast (while my WM/EA Broot slotted for acc and endred is stuck in Praetoria eating blues like mad because it's so slow leveling there... It's been kinda deserted even on Virtue)

Oh yeah that's true, and was always stated as one of the main reasons to sell 33 IOs and recipes. I just forgot about it because I haven't been in a PvP zone since i13 so I don't really know how many people are there nowadays, Sirens used to be crowded all the time on Freedom till the changes and lots of people used IO'ed out builds with 33s.

Both actually. I had a few 33 recipes and crafted IOs on an old toon and logged him, stripped him because I never play him anymore and the prices were high, including things like Doctored Wounds. I sold some recipes for 10 mil a pop, the level 50 were 1 mil or something like that at the time.

And besides the latest toon I IO'ed out (the aforementioned SS/Fire Brute) I want to see if I can always use lvl 33s too, I like that level (as many in the forums) and as you said, it's a happy medium. Since I already have a lvl 50 farmer it's a good way to test, especially with claws' Spin .

(I'm so tempted to buy the extra auction house slots now that I have 2 toons that can cap tickets so fast... And one more on the way, I'll test elec/fire )

The mob HP curve is pretty steep at low levels, and flattens out at mid to high levels. Player AoE damage is much straighter. If you start out with lots of AoE (like a Claws/Electric Brute) you can beat the Mob HP curve at low levels. Other characters can beat the curve at high levels thanks to multiple Primary/Secondary powerset AoEs, Patron or Epic AoEs, and Incarnate buffs. But I don't know of any power set combo that works particularly well at mid levels. SS/Fire Brutes have several AoEs available at that level, but CEBR is about as fast as a good level 50 SS/Fire with extra Patron AoEs and Incarnate buffs. I don't think you'll find anything that you can play at mid-level that is faster than CEBR.

Since you can't exemp down and get mid-level recipes that actually stop at mid-level, your fastest option is likely to continue to use CEBR. It's still silly fast to ticket cap. Level 25 gives you the third row of Inspirations, which is necessary for efficient Inspiration combining. Beyond that, Energize and Power Surge are nice but not necessary. So actually, you'd be better off using Claws/Fire if you wanted to level lock around 30. Blazing Aura does a little more damage than Lightning Field, and you won't miss Energize much. But you want to continue to fight mobs that are level 2. Adding Burn to your AoE damage output won't make up for the big difference in mob HP.
You're right, I tried on SOs, it was doable but not that fast. It was surprising tho, that someone called me to a 54 'fire team' and my unslotted claws/fire was killing mobs faster than everyone (the others were tankers and scrappers). Defense didn't matter since we handled the map in under 2 minutes and I had 8 purples when beginning every time.

Actually what I found really fast was using a level 3 map - it's bugged because if you set it at +1 it puts you at lvl 2, so I have to set it at 0/x8/bosses (although doesn't matter since I'm not PLing anyone, I cap before killing everyone anyway).

The map is the one in Neogumbercules' sig - I like it because besides being 5 missions so you don't have to go to the computer every time, you get to keep follow up - so I find it faster having it (since you're level 3, you keep powers till lvl 8 as you know, when you get FU). He has the same version for level 1 and I tried both, didn't benchmark but definitely felt faster on the level 3 arc.

In fact my 50+3 ss/fire/mu broot is faster at +4/x8/bosses but I find it easier on the claws/fire and claws/elec just because I can put Spin on Auto and never click anything but insps and FU (as long as I remember to click Hasten before entering I don't really have to click anything else, since it is only up every other mission - unless I take 3 minutes, the time it recharges, before entering again - I use the grenades when it's not clickable). After you get the hang of it you never die anyway, and no need to worry about clicking Rage+FE+Footstomp+Elec Fences+Pyronic like in the ss/fire so after I learned how to avoid dying it's been much more relaxing on the claws/damage aura toon.

Now that my claws/fire is 33 and locked (the CEBR is on Champion, not sure what I'll do with her) I need something to PL others on Freedom, the land of PLing thinking of a Elec/Fire because I'm bored with my SS/Fire (used for drops on Virtue).
  5. If you're a brute slot just for acc and endred in your attacks until SOs at least. Or till 28 when you get energy drain and no more endurance problems.

  7. (Warning: completely useless post below)

So I made a DP/Dark corr and since I usually spend like 45 minutes in the toon creator I came up with a very busy and elaborate costume for my Vampire Cowgirl (can you believe the name was available on Virtue? lol).

So I went to the sewer trials because, ya know, sweet temp powers and after getting all four you're like level 14 already.

I haven't bought the Stj powerset because I usually play squishies and I haven't even leveled my DB/Elec and SD/MA toons past 35 yet. And my Beamer is like level 20.

But I digress. I formed a DFB trial and 7 other people joined, so we entered.

    Then my teammates were like...
    1) Guy with leather jacket and jeans
    2) Shirtless guy with tattoos
    3) Guy with cap and T-shirt
    4) Guy with punk hair and dark glasses
    5) The others were variations of the above, all with the 'thug' look

Of course they were all Stj/WP or Stj/SR (with the odd Stj/Regen).
And after the 4 trials, the Posi I ran were in the same way (there was some glowing techie fire blaster ruining my team in the Posi tho )

It was awesome! Since Stj's animations are so subtle for those who aren't close to them, and the sounds are also kinda subtle (I saw some posts here saying Stj should have more 'cracking' sounds, like say, DM's Smite which really sounds like a big punch), I felt like a Thugs MM, I was debuffing, healing and attacking with my flashy dual pistols while the other guys punched the mobs! And since I hate playing MMs, it was cool that I didn't need to boss them around! The fact they all looked like the Thug pets from the MM set, besides having secondaries with minimal FX made it even better since they were all normal height in bland clothes!

(I told ya this was an useless post - but seriously, even teaming with all those Stj toons I still can't seem to distinguish their attacks like I always did with other sets like MA, SS, etc, I can't try the set because Test Server store is down so I cannot make a 'fake purchase')
  8. Yes Ice tankers kinda ignore slows. I had a 35 ice/fire I deleted because I dislike Tankers, but he felt basically immune to anything related (at the time I didn't care about numbers but played him when it was hard to level - i10ish - and I never felt he was affected by slows)

I second that, and I never liked tankers because of the damage, but I'm liking SD/MA. Of course it's no scrapper/brute but it's good enough for me. At level 4 I was walking around with 25% def to all positions because of Storm Kick.

    Rib Cracker

The main problem for me is that like other primaries (Energy Melee) if you skip the tier 1 or 2 attack (like I usually do on Stalkers) you'll have to wait till level 26 to have a decent ST attack chain, on most other sets it's level 18.

Rib Cracker is a normal attack in dmg/end/rech formula, it also does -7.5% res and -11.3% dmg. On a Scrapper I'd get it so I could skip one of the first two punches and have Rib Cracker (so, 3 attacks) at level 8.

    - Energy Drain's +Def is less than Energy Absorption (though not by much) and heavily saturated (3+ Applications) will destroy your DPS rating (and even then, only give you 12-15% Defense to the basic 6).

Basically Synapse gave us energize - thats the only real positive change I've noticed with the revamp (the other changes are either break-even or minor at best). If energy drain gave us DDR that would go a long way (12-15%, same as the defense values) towards fixing the set.
I thought about the Toxic hole, but doesn't all the sets have it, or at least the defensive ones (outside of ninjitsu's heal but not available for Brutes)? I'm asking, not affirming, because I read that Toxic is not typed as positional, but not sure.

EDIT: Still dunno about defense to Toxic but Shields has resistance to it in True Grit too, as Granite. Oh and Dark Armor too (<3 DA)

I personally love the taunt aura, it's very good. I was on a ST-only (before Whirling Mace) /EA Brute duoing with a corr in Praetoria who used AoEs all the time and I was able to keep aggro without using Taunt (I had it, but didn't use it to test).

I also like that Entropy Shield now gives you a fixed 20% rech bonus on Stalkers like SR and ELA. Disrupt could be better since it has a 5 target cap instead of Oppressive Gloom's 16 but it's not available for Brutes who are more likely to be surrounded by many enemies than Stalkers.
  13. I got my DP/Dark corr to 14 (she's blueside, too few heroes on Virtue) and I'm liking even the cone now! I don't know if I'm just not meant to play blasters, I rerolled a BM/EM into BM/Poison (and then BM/Traps but because of Poison's redraw) and loved the corr.

And I feel damaging on my DP/Dark, maybe it's more of a feeling, all I know is I'm loving her so I can finally play DP

Since I also got my Dark Blast/MM to 20 at least ONE blaster looks promising to me, I love the utility (tentacles), the three cone chain (TT, Torrent, P. Scream) and Drain Psyche which is useful even for AVs, plus Life drain is awesome and the hold does good damage. Guess outside of Brutes (because their damage and survivability are just crazy) and Stalkers (more strategic playstyle, plus squishyness) I just don't like damage-only toons, the only scrapper I ever got to 50 is a dm/da but she's kind of a melee controller.

Oh I'll join this virtueTf, the LFG is basically only chatter ant iTrials lol (although I like the chatter), I'm having hard luck teaming outside RO there on lower levels, unless I wanna do a sewer trial or a Posi, the only TF they seem to run nowadays besides the ITF, at least in that channel.

Yeah it's nice. I used it the other day to get my human PB to 20 (she was 16), was quick. The reason was that she's in Champion and it was hard to find teams for anything other than DFB and iTrials at that time. And plenty of people level 35+ have joined trials (I always do them on starting toons, since you get 4 nifty powers and usually go from level 1-13 doing it 4 times)

Yeah, farming and PLing, the Brute forums are full of stuff about that. I'm also kind of a piss poor farmer, today I did self pl myself because I'm sick and was not in the mood for anything really, plus I wanted a farmer on Freedom, not sure I'll lock her at 33 since the demand for recipes at that level is quite high. I don't PL others (tho I did on my old fire kin before my break when I had lots of ingame friends who liked being PLed in Battle Maiden and Demons) nor pay for it but when I'm in the AE I see it happening all the time, farming, PLing others for free, for money, self-PLing, you name it.

Like the Broot I got to 33 in two hours by myself? (I only PL some brutes to get drops, because the toons friends PL'ed for me were always abandoned), I like the 'leveling road' but I don't condemn who wants Pling either)

Or the Stj/something toon I saw which was 50+2 and had ultimate IO bonuses on everything 24 hours after the set was released? That guy certainly was faster than me, Stj doesn't seem like a set that self-PLs well and I think he was one of these 'natural' types (/Sr, /WP, you know, no damage aura), so probably someone else PLed him.

Anyway, OP, go to the Brute forums, that's where you'll find about it. Or hell, just go to AE on Atlas or Virtue, everyone's farming there. On Freedom you don't even need to enter the AE because it's the broadcast server, on Virtue people farm a lot too but they don't b/c they are looking for/selling runs but when my brute there reached 50 I got lots of tells asking 'my prices for runs' in the Cap Au Diablo AE - since I don't do that and I got annoyed I ended up in the AE in Sharkhead to farm alone.

So if you want to get PL'ed by someone else there are plenty of people announcing 'farmer 5 mil per run' or something like that, especially on Freedom, anytime of the day/night. Hell I played there most of my time and I still don't know what all those people broadcasting 'lf private AE farm' mean (I'm guessing offering money to get PLed).

Yeah same here. I never had it but an ingame friend said it was a clone of Tornado from Storm, which does accept this set (but the damage and rech numbers are different on Mid's).

Anyway he told me he slots for damage because he has an immob so it does lots of damage to immobed mobs and AVs just like tornado. So.. If Mid's is like the game I'd go with 5 Posis and a recharge.

    Hai Boomie!

I started playing there in i13 actually, I like redside there a lot. But I haven't joined the main channel (Virtue LFG Beta) till like 3 months ago, I used the server mainly when the Repeat Offenders announced some team there (that's why despite having a lot of toons on Virt I only have one 40 and one 50 unlike Freedumb where I have lots) or some random pugs for tfs. I was gonna make it my main server when I was forced to stop playing - ultra mode devs stealth nerfed my GPU, made it run only at bare minimum settings - like safe mode, while in i16 it ran the game quite well besides not being able to ultra)

But since I returned (3 months when I got a new rig but only resumed playing almost every day 1 month ago) I've been a bit more active there, I'm only part of Virtue LFG Beta tho. Global me! And pl plz k thx

It is, but the same as I posted in this thread, the market is not functioning on Test, installed it this morning and now (9pm here) still nothing. A question mark appears instead of the shopping cart symbol and this is what shows up when I hover the icon with the mouse, so I can't 'fake buy' the set on Test.

  20. Wow! Intimidate, the ST fear lasts for base 10 secs, recharges in 30 and costs as much endurance as Head Splitter (13 end)!

And Invoke Panic lasts the same 10.43 secs, costs a whopping 22 end, recharges in 60 and... has an acc penalty (both are mag 2 btw)
  21. How come no one said SS/Fire Brute yet? There are people MoITF'ing and soloing the LRSF with them on high end builds. Besides that I'd go for a controller, they are the main GM soloers from what I see in the forums (Robots/Traps MM also trivialize the game but they don't even need a very expensive build for that unlike say, an Ill/Cold or /Rad troller)
