  1. The PVP crowd is gonna cry because Psi blasters are hot there due to the 'double' attacks.

Anyway I got good use of psi lance on the LRSF with my ice/psi dom. Turned Super speed on, fired it and when it hit one of the freedom phalanx AVs I was back with the team. And usually I managed to pull one at a time, two tops.

Situational I know, but it was nice. In pre-i13 pvp when I used her I loled hard when a blaster was running from me, he supersped past the drones in RV and still typed 'I'll get you next time asdfafggewq' (that's when he died because my psi lance finally hit him lol)

Role-players can build any number of justifications for their characters (I'd like a sonic-blast/super reflexes scrapper 'cause I have this great idea for a Dune style scrapper....)

I'd not be sad to see the devs port it (more like ambivalent). I'd not argue against it being ported either. I just think that the right decision was made in not porting it. *shrug*
Yeah but you see, since you also don't agree with some ports (like you said you also think DB is not very fitting for Brutes), I say let them have it.

Plus, TW is just perfect for the Stalker playstyle, I thought this the moment I was done beta testing the TPN trial and had time to solo with my level bumped TW/Regen brute, when I got a better grasp of the set's mechanics. The AS-tons of fast burst attacks in sequence would fit a Stalker perfectly.

It'd be an easy port, get rid of the middle tier cone, replace with AS, replace taunt with Placate and done.

And well, if you're talking about non 'stalkery' weapons, Stalkers got broadsword, which makes meatier noises than TW btw. Also, Brutes recently got the most elegant weapon set (imo), Katana. So why stop? You can play whatever you want, and even though I find DB highly not Brutish, I was never bothered to team with a DB Brute. Same way I have fun telenuking and staying hidden in my elm stalker no matter how little sense that makes (after all Lightning Rod is as subtle as a Blaster nuke).

I plan to wait on getting TW because I have too many alts and have been a bit burned out, but if I could make a TW Stalker I'd probably have bought the set impulsively because I like the AT a lot.
  3. Whieling Mace is meh but Mace hits like a truck. I have a WM/EA Brute and saw some MAce scrappers, it is a really hard hitting set. Just look at the Mid's numbers, it outshines Battle Axe in every way and the cones are great. Clobber is one of the highest damage ST attacks for scrappers and you get it at level 8.

    Just a thought, y'know.
Have you even LOOKED at the beta feedback threads?

One example: since October, people saying the TPN Trial has too many gimmicks and most of the time nobody knows why they failed because there are too many things going on at once, besides things like civilians one-shotting you. Also, complaints about Maelstrom killing half the league when he felt like it. 1 month of feedback, mostly constructive, and completely ignored. Not even a 'Ok thanks but we'll keep it that way'.

Titan Weapons got a lot of feedback too, which actually helped since Synapse talked to us in the thread and changed some power names, animation for Arc of Destruction, but still, the set went live despite the numerous feedback about the lackluster sounds of the set (does smashing damage, has windy sounds unlike SS or Stone Melee) and the sounds are still a bit out of sync with the animations, these were reported NUMEROUS times.

Most bugs the OP posted were reported BEFORE they went live. If you are writing such nonsense you should go visit the Beta feedback threads, they're all there for you to see. There are tons of posts about bugs like 'I can't believe I reported this so many times and it went live like that' (not talking about things that aren't bugs like the TPN example, because a trial being complicated and gimmicky is not necessarily bad for everyone and if it needs adjusting they probably will do later).

You don't have to believe me, the thread about TW has almost 900 posts on it so no, lots of us didn't go there just to 'oooo lemme play with a level bumped TW toon' - http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showthread.php?t=276097

Even more 'superfluous' things like the Gunslinger costume pack had over 500 replies on beta.

EDIT: Weirdly, you were one of the first ones to post about the TPN Trial, I just saw. I don't know how you can think and post that beta players only go there for the shinies. So... Don't you find it weird that the thread has 100 posts and not a single answer from the devs, not even a 'thanks but we're happy the way it is'? Kinda discourages people from testing it, especially since you have to schedule to form a trial in Beta.
  5. Yeah Ageless is awesome.

I only have one Incarnate, with t3 spiritual, reactive, ageless, carnie pets (I haven't been playing much and when I play I've got like 5 alts at 20-30 oh god, and no desire to play my old 50s, also, repeating iTrials over and over is boring as hell) - a very original toon (SS/Fire brute lol), and he's an agricultural tool most of the time, anyway after I got Ageless I ditched Consume and even on the rare TF I take him he can hold his own on endurance, I don't even need blues when farming either, and he's not exactly optimized for endred (his slotting is all wonly like taunt set on KO Blow to help get to 33% fire def so I only have to use one small purple at a time to farm, plus permahasten).

My plant/stormie just got to 23 and she's quite the end hog, even tho I emailed myself a miracle. Tomorrow I'll send a Numina, but I'll need to frankenslot her at 27 or else I'll suffer.

Good thing is that playing a troller again after so long reminded me it's my fav AT because you always have so much stuff to do, even before I have Creepers, Tornado and LS which I know I'll summon a lot. She's been fun since level 10 but now that I can open with seeds every mob and then using freezing rain+roots she already outdamages all my other trollers at this level and I don't need to wait for the melee people to take alphas, I only take a ranged attack from the boss (which gets Snow Storm in case he's red or pink like the team I was today fighting at +2 at level 20, crazy dudes but all went well).

I guess in the final build (probably will be the first one I posted) I'll leave Snow Storm with a simple endred and move the other slot for the Trap of the Hunter proc in Roots, Snow Storm already slows mobs so much now and I only have one endred SO on it. Plus those two microfilaments I planned to put in are damn expensive because pvp people love microfilament HOs in their movement powers, and I'm not rich (I don't really like to farm for long).
  6. On another note that of course deserves another post, can anyone explain why Zwillingwer came to this thread and did not make it a sticky?

  8. That's one of the reasons /Fire is not very popular on scrappers while everyone and their mother has a /Fire Brute (including me). Burn is awesome on a Brute even as a ST attack.

There's been no mention about changing Burn, and as with all scrapper secondaries with damage auras, they'll probably never get a taunt added.

    SR versus SD

You probably won't normally notice this unless the terrain/enemy is a bad combo (council on Striga ships)
I never had to herd anybody, just jump in the middle of mobs with my FM/SD scrapper or my SD/MA Tanker (also, I have Taunt on the Tanker).

Plus especially for Tankers, which are easy to softcap, it's not like you're gimp compared to a SR when tanking a single foe like an AV since you'll have way more resist and HP than the SR fellow.

With SR you softcap and then... You're like a SR scrapper with a sucky taunt aura and more hp, SD has way more possibilities with IOs, including getting capped DDR if you go cheatyface with HOs, and a boatload more damage (remember Shield Charge) plus the mez protection is like WP's (it's against basically everything like fear confuse etc, unlike all the other sets).

That may be a wild guess but I think he might have taken Power Sink

Anyway you can have close to 18% def to all with weave, CJ, maneuvers and the two def uniques.

5 sets of kin combats = 18.75 so let's say 36.5% s/l, the rest you make up by finding some more s/l def set bonuses (im Mids menu - Window - Set Bonus Finder). Reactive Armors in your resist shields and one of the taunt sets in Taunt or even Power Sink for example. Two rectified retiles in Build Momentum / Tactics also give you some s/l, and if you must, the melee def sets give half the value in s/l def.

TW having only 3 ST attacks (iirc, didn't buy the set, but tested it on beta) you may want to mule boxing/brawl with KCs tho.
  12. Yeah what Talen said. Remember EA has a good taunt aura now. The Cloak is good because it gives very good def for its end cost.

Anyway, endurance isn't much of a concern on /EA, so if you think you'll never make good use of the stealth, a case can be made for maneuvers since it helps the whole team (unless you want some other power pool, but on a EA I think only 3 are the usual ones, Speed for Hasten, Fighting for Tough/Weave and Leaping for CJ), plus you even capped negative def already.

Yeah, couldn't agree more. I like Brutes (especially now with easy Fury building and maintaining) because I can deal a helluva damage and protect the squishies when needed (I dislike Tankers' damage, even a fire/fire didn't do it for me).

When I wanna kinda do my thing on teams without worrying much about others I use my Stalkers (yeah they are inferior in basically every way to scrappers and brutes but I like the playstyle). Sadly the lolStalker is the guy that never gets Fortitude, Adrenalin Boost or the other long recharging buffs that are usually cast in 1-3 teammates at a time
  14. Wait do you're complaining people get rewards on TFs they exit and don't get rewards on Trials they leave?

The TF reward thing is wrong anyway, as Aggelakis and Obsidius said. Dual boxers who solo TFs leave the second toon on the entrance of every mission to get double rewards.

You should see why you're crashing, the game interprets that like you logged out. My client basically never crashes (unless I use the Mac one, which is just awful).

What might that look like? How might it happen? Would just putting guns in the Epics of non-squishy ATs work, or would we need more?
I hadnt read this question, you mean a gun wielding toon with mez protection, capped defenses to everything and able to solo GMs without incarnate stuff as a bonus?

Beam Rifle/Traps corr. Or DP, or AR. AR might be bad on the soloing GMs stuff tho
  17. There are some 60 point items aren't there? I believe I paid 60 for one of the Gunslinger pistol models I wanted for my DP corr.

Maybe she finds SR a bit squishy for Tankers since it's a purely defensive set and besides the HP and bit higher resists from tough you won't have much more mitigation than a softcapped Brute/Scrapper.

Only thing wrong with the set is that the Taunt aura is terribad with a 1 sec duration, which I believe is a bug because Brute SR has the usual 13.6 duration in Evasion.

Whatever your opinion on the pack it's silly not to take advantage of this deal.(unless of course you have no plans to get TW ever)
Oh I was kinda joking because there's another thread talking about Stalker theme and whatnot and I was the one who said 'yeah DB is so Brutish, Lightning Rod is so Stalkerish'.

Anyway you're right, I'm not even sure I'll get the power set (although I found it very fun in Beta) because I haven't been playing much and favor ranged toons (and Stalkers), and even then I haven't leveled my BR toon past 30 which is the only set I bought, but I logged in just to get the weapon pack in case I buy it later. Even not being a melee fan I found TW plenty fun.
  21. 11 years, that's very inconsiderate of you. You're lucky you're not in Soviet Russia where TOON ABANDONS YOU!
  22. You have 3 2.5% recovery bonuses that are wasted, not sure why you have the steadfast unique since you barely have any defense, but overall your end recovery is good in this build.

There's a lot I'd change (Blizzard unslotted is as good as not getting it, I'd go for more global recharge instead of chasing damage bonuses, I'd put a generic recharge instead of the dam/range in Ice Storm, you probably don't need 3 holds), but think I'd better refer you to a Guide on Storm by someone who is way more experienced with the set than me:

The -100% recovery is working now when I could not detect any -recovery before the patch. I held a +2 minion and put down a Poison trap and sapped some end using short circuit. I did not time it but the mob did not regenerate end for a quite some time (not the entire duraton of the gas cloud but longer than the 10 seconds of -recovery of short circuit). I plan on giving my elec/poison some play time tonight to confirm my findings.
Yeah the efects are all meh, the power has too much going on and ends up doing nothing special except for the initial hold.

So when you cast it, it summons a pseudopet that does 8s Held (mag 3) (after 0.25 second delay), which is good, but after that the effects are lackluster, the other pseudopet that ticks every second does very little damage and the chance to hold and end drain are too low.

4s Held (mag 3) (after 0.25 second delay) (2% chance)
    -10% Endurance (2% chance)
    -100% Recovery (mag 10)
    1.67 Toxic damage

Looks like the only consistent effects for the duration of the second psudopet are the -100% recovery and the ZOMG 1.67 toxic damage per sec.

I'm happy to change my opinion if someone else can point out what is "stalker" about it and back any petition to the Devs to have it ported. But for now, my view is they made the right choice.
While I can see your point from the RP concept (like DB on Brutes), I played the set on beta at 50 on a TW/Regen Brute and it felt very tailored to the Stalker playstyle: use AS (which would likely give you momentum if it were ported) - unleash a ton of burst damage and then keep scrapping it out just like any decent Stalker does after DOs/SOs, especiallly after level 30 when you can one shot only an orange lieut tops (and not all the time) with BU+AS due to mob scaling hp. Plus the hit and run playstyle was mostly a PVP thing and very inefficient in PvE, even before the i12 Stalker changes I was usually in scrapper mode with my first Stalker, EM/Nin. AS actually barely needs recharge slotting because you won't use it everytime it's up unlike other big hitters that are part of an attack chain (that may change in i22 tho).

But well I disagree that it shouldn't be ported to Stalkers because I have one that goes BOOM in the middle of a mob, damaging everyone around severely and knocking them down, remains hidden and can use AS or Thunderstrike with critical later (Elec/EA). I won't even say anything about glowing like a Xmas tree (Elec Armor) because somebody will say that /ELA is justified because you bend electrons or something like that to Hide like I saw before in the forums lol.
