Quote:I find OG very good on scrappers because it allows you to ignore minions and even help teh squishies/off-tank in the case of problematic minions (like, when the ice/invul tanker is getting pwned by psi-using mobs, or tons of defdebuff in the case of ice). Plus OG is a one-slot power (1 acc and you're fine) and the rest of DA is kinda demanding. With a soft-capped to smash/lethal TW/DA scrap, I am seriously considering not taking Cloak of Fear or Oppressive Gloom ... since at the S/L soft-cap it's really not clear how much more mitigation these would provide, and the end costs of COF are crazy (though OG is easier).
Can anyone provide some insight into whether skipping these sort of misses what DA is about?
Also, in case anyone is wondering, Cloak of Shadows (the stealth) makes the Titan Weapon disappearthough weapon effects like glow are still visible.
But my main DA is DM so she isn't the AoE knockdown powerhouse TW is - I'd say toggle it off and give it a try if you already have it.
Edit: Dechs already answered it but Cloak of Darkness hides your entire toon no matter if she has a weapon or not so use the no fx option. -
Quote:Yup the slows makes mobs run too, I forgot about that because I couldn't get into spines.I remember reading somewhere that slows in particular will trigger mob-flight (albiet slowly), and that exacerbated the trouble from Spines (DoT+slows). I could be wrong/misinformed though.
Not that I have much trouble with runners on sp/da/blaze - scrappers with good ranged dmg are fun.
But mostly the complainers were people who used their spines/da, /elec or /fa for farming. The /FA users complained more because I think fire naturally causes a little more running, but that's a guess because my only /fa is a brute and the spines/fa were the ones who complained more even before Burn was a decrnt power (I remember now, scrappers got fa before the FA buff, I took a break so I was in doubt). That's why scrapper farmers switched to fm or elec/shields since it has a great taunt aura.
I love ranged attacks too and that's one of the reasons I'm leveling my DM/DA again, this time as a brute - I can't make a build the way I want (Cloak of Fear, defense) that has ranged epic attacks so I figured I'd just reroll my beloved scrapper into a brute to keeps mobs close (although when she's high enough I'll ask for advice because Gloom is too good).
And damn this thread is making me wanna roll a db/da but I have a db/elec scrapper who just got power sink and now she's unstoppable, very fun combo -
Missed attack from mobs also generate fury just like a landed attack or else the defensive sets would be way suckier for that.

Quote:Nope. Footstomp has 0.67 kb too. And Tremor. And Crowd Control - of these three only CC has 100% chance. Lighting Rod and Shield Charge have 0.64.In Mids it shows as 66% chance of 0.67 knockback not knock up (see Air Superiority for a knockup effect). Haven't used it personally in game yet (to confirm KB vs KU) but at that magnitude it will only knockdown unless the foes are lower level than you, weak to kb effects or if it combines somehow with another kb effect.
0.67 kb = KnockDOWN, and KB to lower level foes and weak to kb like clockwork.
If you slot for more than 1, Footstomp, Spring Attack and all the 100 attacks with 0.67 kb turn into KnockBACK. For example the Peacebringer Footstomp which causes KB and people complain has a mag 4 KB.
Energy Torrent on Blasters has 4.99 KB. The same power on scrapper epics, which does knock down unlike the blaster one, has 0.67 like footstomp and spring attack and whatever.
SA has 66% chance to KD and SC has 80% so it's not 1/4. Also, SA like SC does KD, not KU, if you enhance SA you'll end up with KB unlike enhancing Levitate or KO Blow (those two are KU powers) where you'll just get more KU and targets will fly up higher. -
Quote:The weird thing is that me and 5-7 other kept repeating that in the feedback thread...I remember sending a PM to BABs way back when about Brute Elec Melee sounding lackluster in some of it's attacks, I think those got addressed...eventually
And some of them told me they complained a lot about StJ's sounds (I didn't beta test it) and nothing was done. I eventually got a level bumped 50 stj/wp some weeks ago and found the sounds so lackluster, my DM toons' Smite is what sounds like a PUNCH to me. -
Quote:Who said it's uber?My question is, most powers that need a buff, they don't get it because "the equations" say the power is working as intended. But then Clobber comes along and gets a huge buff. Surely "the equations" didn't say it was okay to buff Clobber like that? Surely they went over "the equations'" heads and just made it uber?
It does expected damage now for a 16 sec rech/15 end cost attack, meaning it's still less than KO Blow/Seismic Smash/Total Focus and a little bit more than Headsplitter which has a 14 sec recharge and costs a bit less end. Headsplitter is a cone but Clobber has a mez, like KO Blow, TF and SS (SS is a mag 4 hold on a 1.5 sec cast time btw, that's why I got upset with the Total Focus Nerf to the stun).
Mace was underperforming and is now a good set, that's all. It completely eclipsed Battle Axe but then again Katana eclipses BS in basically every way. -

Quote:Cloak of Fear is mag 2 across all ATs, perhaps it was fixed during the time I stopped playing but it's no longer mag 2 on brutes and scrappers. Didn't get it yet on my broot but CoData and Mids show it as mag 2 for all ATs.Not manipulation, just showing numbers with common practice. Many don't take CoF, for both the lack of mitigation provided for some AT's as well as the prohibitive endurance cost. You objected when I stated Stone cost more, since most don't run outta Granite, nor run with Brimstone Armor, so my numbers reflected that as well. I only ran the common Defensive Toggles... (so no Brimstone for Stone, no AAO or Grant Cover for Shield, etc.)
Again, I have Multiple DA toons, and don't feel the Endurance use is prohibitive. It can be overcome on SO slotting. CoF is a little broke though, at that cost and being a Soft-Control it should be Mag 3 with chance for 4, or lower the end cost and make it mag 2 chance for 3 across the board... not Mag 2 on some AT's and Mag 3 on others.
But I have a feeling this isn't a discussion, so there's little thought/option of swaying you to an alternate view. C'est la vie... it's a game, not a lifestyle, so enjoy waht you do, and I'll enjoy mine.
Anyway, sure not a discussion that will change anyone's minds, but in normal gameplay you'll be using your damage aura basically all the time, which puts DA in second place after Stone.
Well I'll play my DM/DA more later and see if I can get her out of than stupid Praetoria (I hate soloing but even if there were people there - and this on freedom lol - I'd still want to check the storyline because I know I'll never roll a Praetorian again), and since I'm going the CoF route I'm thinking about doing different stuff like slotting just one recharge and three endreds on DR and skipping Cloak of Darkness for now since I already have CJ and will have Tough soon. When I get to 32 I'll frankenslot her and see how it goes.
The good thing about her being a brute now (reroll of my 2nd 50, a scrapper) is that I can slot all attacks for endred instead of damage for now, so I'm soloing at 0/x3 quite well at level 16 (just got there so didn't train to pick dark regen yet, tho siphon life and the occasional respite have been keeping me alive). -
-10 mag immob protection so it's also good for some armor sets like dark armor and fiery aura (although these sets get their immob protection in later powers). I usually get it on all toons for at least a LOTG mule, and a -kb when I have to.

Yeah I forgot about that in my answer, Karma recipes were almost vendor trash last time I more active in agricultural stuff in the AE, they're very cheap nowadays, don't buy the crafted IO. I used to put the recipes at 5 infl because they sold for 10k-100k, the steadfast -kb is a bit pricier but not much.

Quote:That's obvious: because the devs wanted Burn to do more damage since it was a skippable power, the afraid component scared everyone. And that's why they frontloaded it too, which HELPS scrappers - the afraid effect (not fear) was worse than normal DoT running for all ATs.It would be interesting to hear why you think Fear was removed. Also, blasters are forced to take an immobilize power which fixes the issue without going into pools.
The fact that DoT attacks makes mobs run away has nothing to do with anything else, and Burn is not the only power affected by it. See again - any spines/damage aura scrapper complaining about running mobs, actually any spines/ scrappers, I'm just used to hearing it from the farmers which are all /elec, /dark and /fire since Spines is the main source of running.
Blasters have to take a ST immob, most scrapper sets have some kind of mez that keeps mobs in burn better than a ST immob like tons of AoE KD in some sets (Mace, TW, Axe), fear (not afraid) in dark melee, immobs in Impale and M. Grasp, etc. Plus Scrappers can also take AoE and ST immobs and ST holds in the epics.
The fact that even with an AoE immob, scrappers and blasters can't make good use of Burn as much as Brutes and Tankers is just a characteristic of the ATs not having taunt on their powersets, not an 'issue'. And no, you're not gonna hear any Brute complain that their Concentrated strike doesn't have a chance to refresh Power Siphon and they'd be happy if there was a 'pool' that allowed that, like scrappers can do (without pools in a lot of primaries) to at least use Burn to the fullest in a single target and get very decent AoE mileage of it after a crowd control, 1kcuts, all the TW KDs, L. Rod, which is plenty good already. The removal of the afraid effect helps that a bit, ya know. Like the frontloaded damage.
Again, Scrappers get more mileage out of Shields and KM. Corrs are better than defenders with ice blast's Ice Storm and Blizzard because of Scourge, their inherent (fire blast actually has an REAL issue among those two because Corrs get Blaster Rain of Fire and Defs get a properly AT modded one).
I can go on and on. -
Quote:Well, when it was released and the math people went over it, they got to the conclusion it was about the same level of Energy Blast's damage on standard ammo... But with longer cast times... And less reliable KB.I just read an entire thread with a lot of people saying Dual Pistols is "not that bad", and not a single post detailing numerically where this set stands against other sets (not just Fire Blast) to actually prove that.
I feel like I have learned absolutely nothing from the experience.
So with Fire ammo maybe it does a little more damage than Energy! This time with no mitigation and keeping longer cast times!
(suck on that Elec Blast!) -
Everyone forgets about Radiation because it's old and been done to death, I still find it the best set for leveling and SOs (well dark too, both mature early and dark still gets the pet later but you know that since you have one). Cold matures kinda late (in terms of debuffs) and benefits a lot from IOs, as you'll want a lot of recharge for Benumb and Heat Loss.
Storm is end heavy even with IOs but at least you can get Power Sink on corrs.
Btw ice blast is not very end friendly (some say it's an end hog even) because the blasts animate very fast and you attack a lot due to the lowish AoE in the set (lots of people skip Frost Breath, I find it decent). -
Quote:Yeah, SA doesn't get many complaints because either people play the not so fun toggle/untoggle mini game or live in Granite.(not including end reduction)
DA uses 1.75 end/s w/ all toggles running
SA uses 2.02 end/s w/ all non-granite toggles running
Regardless, I love my DA/StJ Tank
If we really want to get into it...SR/SS is a endurance junkie just for the sole reason SR has no end management capabilities.
SR when it was very popular used to get a fair share of people asking about advice on end management, and Body Mastery is very popular with them for PP, so you might even say SR could be the borderline in what lots of players consider tolerable. -
Quote:I may have to do some shenanigans like this on my DM/DA and my Claws/DA Brutes, I'm leveling them slowly but I plan on getting Cloak of Fear on both. The DM/DA is a reroll from my Ioed DM/DA scrapper (she has everything 'nice', meaning no purples/pvps) so she'll eventually have the goodies but since I'll be leveling her with Tough and CoF this time I see hard times aheadMy current BS/DA Scrapper (who is also my very OLD BS/DA scrapper) has 3 EndRed and 1 RecRed in Dark Regen, and that's no problem.
It's everything else. 20 million for a knockback IO is, to me, still a giant chunk of cash. If you're carting around billions, it becomes pocket change, but when it's 1/4 of your net worth on a character that isn't even your main anymore...so not worth it. -
Quote:Not really, it's just a pbaoe fire attack that happens to benefit from Taunt in the ATs that have it because enemies don't like DoT.The problem with that argument is that it doesn't consider the reason why fear was removed from Burn in the first place. Everyone benefitted except Scrappers. The problem the Fear caused was never resolved for Scrappers at all.
The fear was removed but it's still a DoT, that's why Spines/damage aura scrappers complain about mobs running too (because of Quills + the secondary damage aura, that's a lot of DoT) but they know they aren't getting a taunt in damage aura secondaries.
Blasters have Burn too btw. And the power got better for them without the fear in burn since mobs run because of the DoT so it takes longer than an auto afraid effect, but like scrappers, they can't use it the way brutes and tankers do (not sure scrappers had FA with the old Burn, if they did it wasn't for long). -
You guys are slackers, almost 1 month with no replies? Luckily I got this thread on my subscriptions.

This a thousand times, only one combo has the strong and the pretty! I remember I was flamed to oblivion in that thread when I foolishly dared saying that my DM/EA Stalker was quite strong and pretty... I learned my lesson that she was only pretty and nothing more
