You can't, but as you know you can dual wield magic (one type in each hand, or double fireball or whatever) or use magic in one hand and a one handed weapon on another.

Which is fine by me, I use a bow most of the time (so two hands) and switching to magic is like the redraw in CoX when you use 'magic' (like, Tar Patch on a weapon wielding corr/def) since it's quite fast to switch (at least in how it affects you in combat, the switching menu is kinda lame even using the favorites option because you have to pause the game, it's single player anyway).

Shields has Fear protection as well. I actually find it quite strange that the two newest armor sets have complete mez protection, SD and WP have it all, even confuse.

Yeah that's why I mentioned the ITF, it was the first TF with a ton of mobs and it because of that it was a good way to get your toon from 35 to 50.

I remember before the AoE friendly content grew, one of the Brute FotMs was EM/ELA, and EM was always very weak in AoE but people loved it for being a great ST set (not anymore... I loved my EM Stalker stunning bosses and old ET).

Now people complain about ST focused sets like Poison and BR (and BR has two good AoEs) because well, even my Katana/Regen scrapper is soloing Twinshot's arc at 0/x3 with DOs (I can do that because of Divine Avalanche it still, more AoE focused toons can surely solo at this level early, I read about people soloing with TW at x8 before SOs).

One thing I really like about my kinda-Rogue specced guy on Skyrim is the multitude of debuffs you can do, the Rift rogues have plenty of that too as you know better than me because I was turned off by the game's slowish pace compared to CoX.
  4. The auras suppress on Hide now but not on Placate so while you can still use Placate-normal attack for a crit if you queue up (at least from what I've been told, I don't have a DA Stalker), Placate-AS will require you to detoggle.
  5. Thanks for the feedback!

The disintegrate setup is why I went straight for a Corr, and the reason I'm finding it annoying to spread is that when I bought the set and got a BR/Poison to 30, I was teamed with a lot of BR players (I bought the set early) so everything was disintegrating and it was very fun, but now I barely see BR toons and I'm feeling the pain of 'oh gawd I hope Disint spreads now'.

I rerolled him into BR/Traps (that's why I didn't get BR to 50 yet) because I was annoyed bu the redraw, redraw doesn't bother me much but Poison was too much because the debuffs aren't AoE like, say, Rad and they recharge very fast. Also because since my toon never had a reason to go melee range, I thought 'damn when I take this tier 9 15 feet aura I'll have to change my playstyle completely'. With traps at least I can setup and then go back to range and blast.

I agree cutting beam should have a chance to spread Disint, I use it every time it's up.

And good idea on coloring the beams different colors Jayboh, I'll try that, I also find the beams a bit boring. I feel piercing pays too much for the -res tho, a little more damage than Charged Shot, very long recharge and the worst thing is that it has no chance to spread disintegration. But guess I'll try it, if I ever manage to get to 50 on the BR/Traps I'll decide later on what to skip besides the snipe... Although the snipe doesn't seem that bad only because of the 100% Disint chance and on most corrs it'll be safe-ish to use.

I have severe altitis and nowadays don't feel like playing CoX more than 2 hours a day even on vacation (a lil burned out) so I didn't know if other players were a bit let down by the set, seems like most are, or at least not impressed... I'm no min maxer except for toons I fall in love with, and even finding DP lackluster I rolled 3 toons until I found one that I was pleased with (DP/Dark corr, the 2 blasters before felt low damaging to me), but when I log in I usually pick another toon even when I plan on playing my BR

Well if you use normal acc/dam (like a posi and a detonation) you'll get 53% acc/dam instead of 66% from the two HOs. But hey those nucleolus are like 1/4 the price of a LoTG +rech recipe (which goes for 100-150 mil on weekends) and give the same stats as a purple acc/dam IO which is ZOMG expensive.

You could skimp a bit on the acc and buy only one Nuc and put a damage IO, that'd give 33% acc and about 75% damage.

That looks like a very solid build, I just don't know if global acc plus kismet affects Creepers because I only have it with SOs atm.

You can get a little more def to all (e/n to 32.7, ranged to 35.6) if you slot one Enzyme instead of the 2 Cytos in Steamy mist and put an extra def in CJ. The endred in Steamy will suffer, alternatively you could put two enzymes in SM and ranged goes to 35.4%, not that much since you already have 35.2%. But e/n hits the 'magic' 32.5% so you'd be capped with one small purple.

I don't think the FF proc will work since it's a pet. It doesn't work in shield charge and lightning rod for example.

The Grav Anchor might not be a very good idea because CC doesn't do immob in all powers, while most of its powers do slow, that's my guess on why people prefer to slot the impeded swiftness proc instead of the trap of the hunter one. So while it will trigger, it probably won't be as much as if the grav anchor were a slow/damage IO set proc.

The thing is, this combo is very busy and you'll find yourself using Gale just to see if the proc goes off, because it's a power you barely need to use unlike say, footstomp. If you use it while the mobs are immobed so you won't make your team mad, it's still mostly to see if the proc goes off since Gale does pitiful damage (less than half of a Tanker's damage aura tick).
  8. Is there any game you can actually use a shield with a 2-handed weapon? Even a legacy fantasy JRPG? I can't recall any...

My character in Skyrim can't btw

Lol, for whatever reason, I started watching it about 3 weeks ago and had to see the rest, now I'm 4 episodes behind on Dexter which I watch kinda religiously (only series for me atm). And I can't explain! Well I can somewhat, weird thing is that it's been like 12 years I enjoyed a cartoon and I only watch Pixar movies when friends/gf drag me to it (and those are 'cartoons' basically everybody likes).

I don't have any particular reason to have started watching the show other than 'why the hell do grown men like it?'. But I agree that most times I looked for images to post I found some creepy ones and thought 'what the hell is wrong with those people?' - but most of them are not perverted, I gues that as with any popular show you'll get weirdness. Even the spiderman memes have some real nasty stuff, I'm scared of what my kid (I hope I have one... or three) will be able to find in the net in the future even unintentionally.

    But that's okay because...

  10. I just wanna say that these cursors are AWESOME and I never lost mine again, plus despite me thinking that I didn't need bigger cursors, they do help! Plus they are more beautiful and self explanatory (like when they change to a hand or a double arrow to resize a window) than the regular ones.

(the thing I said that part of the arrow was cut only happened the first time I tested it)
  11. Hmm just checked ingame, they aren't as expensive as I thought - last 5 sales

    75 mil
and the other 4 25-35 mil

The ones I mentioned I used on my empath (tohit/def/rech) are 200-300 million, I thought the acc/dam would be in that ballpark as well.
  12. It's the only powerset I bought, but unlike everybody else I didn't get it past 30 yet.

Now that you guys have your 50s, what are your thoughts on the set?

Is it as good for ST damage as Ice Blast (to pick a blast set that is considered good at ST, since we can't compare anything to fire).

I find the mechanic that Disintegration spread is not 100% on any attack besides the snipe quite annoying. But I don't even have the mininuke yet, so...

How do you feel about the set? Is it as powerful as you expected?

Also, is Piercing Beam worth it? Looks a lot like the similar DP power I find skippable.

    Thanks for any feedback!
  13. heh np I know I've been kinda overboard on the ponies, I just watched the thing two weeks ago.. and I like it (this is the kind of thing I can't admit on facebook lol)

One thing you're right is how 4chan and etc manage to pervert things, I got scared sometimes when I looked for pony images for this thread!

(On another note my unusual activity here is because I'm on vacation and sick, huzzah!) And I can't stomach playing CoX for more than 2 hours a day nowadays, I got burned out too many times after playing too much.

Well that depends how you use it. I visited 4chan like, 3 times? And I post silly things in thread like these, not in 'help me with my brute build' where I do like to help.

OTOH, take 'the cool' website for 'non fat people who go to fancy restaurants' that even your friend who 5 years ago only used the net to check his hotmail, and now he spends half the day on Facebook sharing funny images, trying to state his opinions >>> all, picking arguments about things that he'd never actually get angry in real life, this sorta thing. At least that's how my facebook wall has been the last 6 months, and judging from other friends' complaints, theirs have been filled with crappy stuff lately too. Difference is, there's a lot of good things you can get out of facebook like actually meeting people, even business opportunities so unlike a forum or even 4chan where you go only if you want, you kinda have to see stupid things people share because you are more connected to them and in the middle of all the idiocy there are useful things there. Like these forums, a great resource for the game with the occasional nonsense thread, but you don't need to see the silly stuff like this one

Are you sure about that? The shininess of BR is wearing off and I see more Dual Pistols toons than BR now. I only saw a ton of BRs in the first week. I bought it, still gotta level mine, but I don't think it will ever be a popular set. And BR is still not that hot on ST compared to fire and even ice. I'll finish mine just out of guilt because I bought the set, I find the 'I pray that Disintegration will spread now' thing a bit annoying, the chance shouldn't be 100% only with the snipe because the non-disintegrate damage is not that good.

Psi blast is awesome fot ST, seen any Psi Blasters lately?

Even as a stalker fan, I have deleted more Stalkers than any other AT and the only one I plan to level now (which is a reroll from a elm/regen because of the hp cap, I know it's getting fixed but I made this awesome kat/regen scrapper) is an ELM/EA. And why ELM? Just because it's one of the few sets that are good enough to compare to a scrapper set (and even then you can't pair it with shields, in which case the scrapper wins, or have a damage aura secondary, so even with LR from Hide it might be at most close to a scrapper).

I like the tweaks but I agree with A_C, the game has become far more focused on AoE and in my opinion it began with the ITF (the first time I recall feeling quite useless on my Stalkers, I played them a lot back then) and then the new difficulty settings, plus mostly all the content added after the ITF favoured AoE carnage.

Not saying I want my Stalker to be a Scrapper, but.. I don't know if even with scrapper damage mod, scrapper hp and hp cap, porting powersets again in a well done fashion like ELM and KM who kept all the good powers, and these extra upcoming tweaks in i22... I don't see many people rolling stalkers except for the playstyle, which i still like but well, my main Stalker is ELM because I want to use this playstyle hitting lots of mobs.

The ideal thing to do would be to revamp the AT completely, maybe even reworking the primaries to add debuffs, lots of games with functional Rogues make the class have debuffs like poisoning weapons, DoT after a stealth strike, I'd think debuffs in the line of traps, poison and TA, since they're location based or persistent for a while (poison) - you use them and you can hide or go attack, anchor debuffs like rad dark miasma wouldn't work.

Of course that's just wishful thinking, but they've done it somewhat with the fear added to AS, which should have a higher chance to go off imo.

Seems that playing a blaptroller would really be more what I am looking for (of course, I rolled him back in i8, long before elec control). I rolled a new elec/elec dominator and I'm excited to give him a shot.

    Thanks again.
That's a good example of what a Dom feels like, because elec/elec has a lot of control for a Blaster, plus very powerful melee attacks and some blasts. Elec assault for doms is a mix of the two blaster elec powersets, so not that hot on ranged and great melee damage. But you get a lot more control on elec control and it's the best sapping set, my elec/thorns dom was sapping mobs fast on DOs. An elec/elec dom favors melee and with conductive aura, static field and all the other controls, it's a safe place to be.
  17. Glad I could help, I myself have difficulty making FA toons when the goal is like 45% s/l def plus loads of recharge (always run out of slots) that's why I gave a shot on yours since you're not looking for that.

And yeah, about KB, the general consensus is that 8 points is 'useless' in the sense that in practice it won't protect you anymore than 4, so you either go for 4 or 12.

Oh you can up the recharge and acc in FSC without lowering damage by swapping the dmg IO for the triple, you'll still be damage capped on the power.

Also, if you took the third slot from FE and put the last endmod in consume, FE would recharge 3s slower but you'd have 5% more global recharge for the rest of your powers.

And while I doubt you're hurting for endurance, you could swap the res/recharge Aegis for a res/end Titanium Coating in your shields because the bonus from the 4th aegis is meh (debt protection) so you'll get more endred from the shields.

And (sorry I'm a recharge junkie) if you don't find much difference... You can slot SJ with a -KB since the BoTZ is cheapish now, and put another LoTg instead of one of the Karmas, that would make FE recharge almost the same as in your updated build with 2 slots.

Most FM top builds I saw used the purple set in Cremate but since I don't know about how to slot for the top attack chains I don't know the reason, my fm/sd has no purples.

Yeah it was the clockwork, I think they're the only enemy faction that are weak to KB to the point that normal KD powers makes them fly away.

Ice Patch can be perma with just one recharge SO btw.

Then, when Domination happens... Go scrapperlock until it wears off.

It was great fun doing that... "I'm on Dom, keep up!" *takes off mowing down mobs until Dom wore off*

Some team mates didn't understand that Domilock that Domination brings... at first, but they figured it out.

Domination is the reason to run a Dominator, otherwise, just run a 'troller and be done with it, IMO.

(edit: Again, this is pre-Fren. I haven't played that same Dominator Mind/Emp build to 50 to really have a decent comparison, so others MMV.)
But that was before the dom changes I suppose. I also played an Ice/Psi to 50 and she was basically 'gimp ice troller' till PSW and later permadom.

Nowadays Doms are much different. Damage is good from the start.

OP, think of Doms as a damage class with control, not as a support class (in the sense of support like debuffs, buffs, heals, etc).

Some sets have buffs/debuffs (psi with drain psyche, plant control with spirit tree) but it's not their main strenght.

And they can have very different playstyles - an elec/stone Dom for example would be mostly be played in melee range, while you can make a purely ranged dom with some combos like mind/fire and earth/fire (I can't think of any other secondary that will play as well as fire from pure range, since /nrg has total focus which is crazy good and whirling hands is actually decent on a dom - ice has ISC which is very good so I wouldn't recommend skipping it - but my plant/ice goes to melee just for ISC and she does fine).

Most secondaries tho, are a mix of melee and ranged attacks, and you probably won't need all the attacks, but it's fun to try them all. While a ranged /fire build plays a lot like a fire blaster, a /thorny assault is a lot like spines, there's plenty of variety and I recommend testing what attacks you like.

And since dom's damage is the same now no matter Domination is up, your power picks and slotting on the control primary may be different from a controller. For example, my mind troller uses a chain of mesmerize-levitate-dominate all slotted for damage and procs, on a mind dom I wouldn't pick all three (Levitate would be left out in my case) and wouldn't slot them for damage if I have better set bonuses to shoot for. Or even on SOs, since you'll have plenty of damage from the secondary (slotting a high damage AoE immob like Roots for damage is always good tho, especially if your secondary lacks AoE damage).
  20. I wanna roll a Stalker that uses Tremor while Hidden in Granite Armor
  21. Kioshi

    TW/Stone

I think it's a great pairing especially if you don't plan on living in Granite, because of all the KD. I have friends with very nice builds who only use Granite for the sticky situations and do just fine even through most of the ITF in other armors.

And since TW has so much mitigation, even if you wanna live in Granite later it'll be good for leveling till 38 (unlike my ELM/Stone lol) in the regular armors.
  22. This is quite over the cap for s/l/e/n/f/c (still capped to s/l/e and almost to the rest if you remove maneuvers) without Kinetic Combats.

Just look at Blinding Feint as Build Momentum, the three powers with Eradication are the PbAoE and the two cones (this build would skip defensive sweep), the two ST attacks slotted with Smashing Haymakers are Crushing Blow and Rend Armor (or FT if you want, didn't need to slot one of the ST attacks).

The power order is wacky because I just clicked on whatever to give me +def and the slotting is the bare minimum (that's why I didn't put endred or etc, but you have plenty of slots left). And after I added maneuvers to softcap n/f/c I see I could've done it with less IOs for s/l and added others for e/n. Would be even easier if you dojn't care about sofcapping f/c, I wouldn't need the entire taunt set for example (although I like it for the recharge too).
