  1. Guys, anyone know where I can get some good salvage listing sites?

I've looked around and can find one or two but none that are really that complete.

What I'm aiming to do is collect infor from as many sites as possible to come up with a definitive list to post

Meh i was sleeping, why the morning?

Because we had to do it when the PvP zones were empty to prevent interference.
  3. JOB DONE!

We spawned the GM in Sirens and got the badge. thanks to Ovohm's for the mission, the villains who helped get it and a particularly big theanks to the PvP heroes who held off on PvP'ing for the 10 minutes it took. Much appreciated guys.

for those who missed oput (We had to cap numbers and couldn't tell those who missed it due to PvP interference), the system above does work and I'll be happy to help any future attempts.

  5. Did this happen?

If not and a rerun is planned for Sunday, I wouldn't mind coming along on @kinslayer

Just out of curiosity, why aren't you picking up bitter freeze ray? I have no clue if it's any good, but it seems to me like it's a nice backup to freeze ray. It let's you stack 2 holds on a target, surely this has some sort of advantage?

    [/ QUOTE ]

He he he, I did have it before the first respec and it is useful to have a back up hold. however, Ice does not have a 'snipe' attack and I think Bitter Freeze Ray is why. Longest animation i've seen on a hold in my time in the game and whenever I tried it in PvP, the target had run up and splatted me before it activated!

Wouldnt holding it in a VG's base make it quite difficult for hero SG's to attend kin

Yeah, looked in here before I looked in hero forum so didn't realise it was both sides.

what are ppls opinions on how the mm shud play? im toying with the idea of completely dropping all primary powers and playing as a dark defender, this wud free up more powers to keep myself alive which is a huge problem as a mm

    [/ QUOTE ]

That's exactly what I've been thinking of. Actually looking for a lvl 40 */dark MM who's willing to try a Secondary only build out on test to see how effective it is.

  10. Those of you who PvP on villains may be aware that we've been running weekly practice sessions on a Tuesday night in the arena.

After a few heroes gate crashed last week, we've now made the decision to open it up to any more who may be interested in coming along.

They take place Tuesday nights from around 19.00 onwards. It's fairly informal and is a chance for newcomers to get advice from other players and also to try out different tactics.

Hope to see you there and if you have any questions, you may find answers HERE or can contact me on @kinslayer

One thing I am wondering though is all the testing that is going on, is it to readdress the balance between heroes vs villains or to improve villains vs villains?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Well, my original idea was to create a team of villains capable of giving heroes a run for their money.

I didn't really want to open it up to heroes too early until I saw what sort of turn out we got and to prevent villains getting regularly pwned and discouraged as a result.

I think this weeks one showed we can get the numbers though to make opening it up to heroes a bit more feasible.

I'll stick a post on the Union Heroes forum to try and encourage some of them to turn up.
  12. Saw this discussed on the leader channel last night and I think it's a great idea.

One thing I will say though, PLEASE don't think this is just for the bigger/established VG's. This is a great chance for new VG leaders to come along and 'network'. You can get advice on building a successful VG and it's a great chance to help form coalitions.

Pocket D is a good choice of venue but I'm thinking for future ones, it may be an idea to pick a different VG leader to host it in their base to add a bit morfe of a personal touch. Will need to think on this at the moment as numbers will be a factor as they'll have to be teamed with a VG member to allow entry
  13. After a bit more playing around, I've tinkered the build and here is the final one. I don't think it's at all effective in Bloody Bay but from level 26 onwards, it should perform well in Sirens and other zones. The major loss is probably sleet. A very good power but it is very little use in PvP as it's so easy for people to run out of the area of effect.

Once lvl 40+ content comes out, first power on the list will be Scirocco's end buff move(seems to be the same as a fire tanks consume). 44 and 47 will be Frostwork and Grant Invisibility to make him a bit more team friendly. I also team with a stalker a lot in Sirens at present so they should help with that. May take Phase Shift ay 49 a sa bit of a panic button but more for PvE than PvP as I think I've exhausted the useful PvP powers at this stage.

Still debating taking Frostwork at 35 and switching it with stealth and this build is aimed at, eventually, joining the International Arena nights so any comments would be welcome.

  14. I'm kind of glad we're getting PvE builds turning up as it's (hopefully) showing them the good side of PvP.

further along the line though, once we see who's turning up regularly and know who has PvP optimised builds, we can start being a little more structured in the testing.

May be an idea to list in advance, any particular ideas to try out in this thread so we can try and make sure we have the optimised PvP builds turn up to test it?

BUG : , ATM VILLAINS CANNOT TEAM WITH HEROES...

    [/ QUOTE ]
Can we get confirmation that this happens in the arena? I thought this was a Warburg-only problem, given the valentines day mixed-side missions. If heroes and villains cannot team together, then the random element will be shot in the foot (only one foot, mind )

    [/ QUOTE ]

It does not happen. we had a series of mixed arena battles on Tuesday featuring around 20 mixed hero/villain teams.

    3vP is coming!

    [ QUOTE ]
Well i will try then , sign me up , and we will see what is going on that tournament, i have a question... who will choose teams?? i mean for example... can 3 brutes team up together in tourney? 3 corrs, or that cannot be posible?

    [/ QUOTE ]

From what I've read of teh rules, teams will be drawn completely at random for each match, meaning any combination of hero/villain AT's is possible.

    [ QUOTE ]
While I agree with Filth, however at the moment, the arena is very buggy, and therfore for some, 2 times out of 5 players cannot see there team-mates - You need to allow for bugs at least I think.?

We have tried the test server for PVP recently, but was extremly laggy, not sure when this event will take place, but I feel that will be a better option (after I7 is out maybe)?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Think it was mentioned these will be held on Union AND Defiant separately with a 'grand final' on test?

On another note, anyone know people on the other two servers who may wish to replicate it on those? A 4 team final would certainly make it more interesting if we do have one on test!
  17. O...K... Can see where this thread is going.

If the OP was along the original lines of 'I'm going to solo a TF but need someone to help start it, any offers?', compeletely understandable.

However, it seems to me the post was started more to say 'I'm doing this, isn't that great'(I saw no request for help to start, just a boast). I can see why a few people have decided to criticise the post as it seems to me it's just a bit of 'willy waving'.

Most badgehunters have ended up finishing TF's solo and i'm sure many others of us have.

Soloing a TF is not a 'challenge' it's just an exercise in grinding away. If I actually had no better way to spend my time in game than soloing every TF or using arena as my own personal chat channel rather than teaming with friends and enjoying the community, I'd actually be questioning why I play the game to be honest.

I was there the night of the arena event and for Raz to be surprised the community as a whole have such a negative viewpoint of him is a bit surprising. An event that featured over 50 players was made a LOT more difficult than it had to be as a result of his use of the arena and his attitude to what was initially a polite request for people to refrain from using it for a very limited time frame.

Overall, good luck with the TF's and hope the boredom of having to do something as much of a grind as that is worth the achievement at the end. Don't understand why you felt the need to notify everyone of such an uninspiring task. Don't understand why you're throwing a paddy about some of the comments given your own disregard for the server and community as a whole.

As for most people not wanting to do TF's? Those of us who try to take an active part in the community have no trouble doing 8 man TF's and it's very rare that two days go by without me having the opportuntiy to join at least one TF.
  18. Interesting theory about the heroes winning by staying alive and villains winning by killing more than dying which brings me to one point.

In a straight AT V AT comparision, villains will deal more damage overall. However, one thing we seem to lack is the straight 'off the bat' damage output that heroes have. Also worth noting that when you get too experienced PvP arena teams together, kill counts are actually quite low, showing that not dying is probably a lot easier than killing at the top levels.

Brute - High damage but takes a while to build up
Stalker - Very High damage but also extremely situational and can be countered.
Corruptor - High damage but as the only real buff/debuff AT available should we be concentrating on offence?
MM - Almost no practical offence in PvP as a restul of the long set up time
Dominator - Higher damage than a troller but still too low to rely on. I'd rather have the extra 'hold' power of a troller than the feeble damage boost they get instead.

For me, that leaves brutes as the only real conventional damage dealer for villains. Given the choice between a brute or scrapper, I'd go scrapper every time.

Stalkers are great but just too situational and, against exeprienced PvP players, too easy to counter. The one main advantage I see for villains is the stupidly high damage cap for brutes. The problem is keeping them up long enough and buffed well enough to actually reach that.

Could the villain tactics be best suited to letting a stalker operate almost seperate from the rest of the team while having 3 Corruptors buffing the brute and debuffing his targets? Almost seems a bit too 'single point of failure' for me.

While I know Brute's damage caps are high, I have no idea how much higher they are than blasters or scrappers and how easy it is to buff them enough to blast those others away?

    Nnnnoooo!

Only known you in game for a short while but it's been fun and I've learend a hell of a lot from you and the rest of the Defiant guys already.

Been wondering where you've all been for the last week but I guess you have a lot of goodbye's to say in game.

    Good luck fella.

    prestige

Up to about 700K on Kinslayer.

Could have added a total of 1.8 if I included my alts but we have a strict 'no alt' policy in place on our main VG so that's all gone to our alt VG.

Never used any farming and have earned very little prestige in the last 2 months as a result of alting. Think we're at the 7-8 mill mark at the moment.

Doubt it will go up much after I7 as we've inf stripped most of our mains to fund alts so won't be much SG mode play until after lvl 47.
  21. Off the top of my head, i'd say defensive buffs are a must in the form of shields and mez protection.

Thaw is probably the standout power for mez protection and a thermal has the shields as well plus the most 'user friendly' heals which is why I still think a */Thermal is a must for most PvP teams. Coupled up with Forge and the 2 debuffs(though the long animation on Melt armour makes it risky), I wouldn't even bother with the primary for a PvP thermal. Essentially, they will be nothing more than a buff bot so for a PvP build, I'd try stealth powers with them to escape as much attention as possible.

The one thing i'm never really sure of in PvP is how the priorities go in terms of defence buffs, offence buffs and debuffs.

I'd guess they go pretty much in the order I listed above. As it's been pretty much agreed that villain pentad teams are at a huge disadvantage, for a 5 man team I would take three corruptors in the form of Thermal, Kinetics and Ice. I'd probably like them all to have ice primary as well purely for the first hold. All three hitting a single target with it during breaks in buffing/debuffing should give some mez breaking holds.

The final two spots would then be taken up with damage dealers in the form of brutes and stalkers. Not sure which combination I would take though.

Given the resonable buffs they receive in I7, I would also be tempted to drop the Ice Corruptor for a Dom of some sort.

The one thing I've noticed about villain PvP compared to the hero side is a more cavalier attitude to buffing on our side. Looking at the recent PvP tournament and the groups that done well like Shaman X and AOW, they seemed to be a lot more rigid in their buffs, particularly with the anti mez and shield ones. I know that before watching the tournament, I only used the shields in my set when it was convenient and spent more of my time trying to debuff and kill but I've learnt to be a bit more controlled about it now.

Seeing how we bought the brutes to a shuddering halt in the Corruptor Vs Brute match on Tuesday was quite an eye opener and has also shown me a slight hole in my Ice/Ice build. With mez protection being the real killer for Corruptors, I've realised that snow storm may not be as effective as I thought. It was getting dropped quite a bit as it's a toggle so I was either getting stunned, held or killed as soon as I put it up or was having to run and go evasive, meaning it dropped as soon as I was out of range. A real shame as it's a killer move but very difficult to keep it going to make a real difference.

One question I would like to ask about snow storm though. in PvE, it affects the target and those around him. In PvP it only seemed to be affecting the target himself. Can anyone who was on the receiving confirm this?
  22. Am I the only one who has no idea what this thread is about?

    I'm guessing it's a recruitment for a TF team
  23. Kinslayer_

    rad/sonic pvp?

Personally, when it comes to PvP, I wouldn't look beyond ice/* or fire/* for my primary.

The hold in ice and quick one on one damage it can pump out are very useful and fire for the pure damage

The only time I would look at rad, dark, sonic etc is if I was going for a combined build like rad/rad or dark/dark just so the secondary effects from the attacks stack with your main debuffs.
  24. As commented here a few times, Bitter Freeze Ray sucks. It is a very good hold but the animation on it is ridiculous.

Bitter Ice Blast is a great power and will be your 'meat and veg' attack. Go for 3 dmg, 2 acc, 1 end reduction on that, Ice Blast and Ice Bolt and rely on these as your three main attack powers. You can't get a chain with these which is a bit of a drawback but those three along with freeze ray are going to be as close to a chain as you can get. I'd slot freeze ray with 2 accuracy and 3 holds. You could add an end reduction or a rechrge reduction if you want but chances are the slot can be spent elsewhere. These 4 are going to be what help you put away debuffed enemies in PvP and must be 5/6 slotted.

On the shield front, only take one of them. Downside is that I can't remember which one it is but seems like there have been comments so far on what one so guessing that's the one.

On the arctic fog front, I'd only slot it with end reducers. teh defence buff on it is not great and slots are better off elsewhere.

I see you've not put any slow's in and that is a good thing, apart from the one in snow storm. Drop it and put another end reducer in, it makes little difference to the slow on it and is a wasted slot. The set stacks well enough that they simply aren't necessary.

Frostwork, I'd take later in the build TBH. It's not essential and for PvP purposes, there are better powers you can put in before 30 to make you useful in Sirens.

Build Up is also a must IMO as it makes a huge difference when active and I've 3 slotted with recharge reduction.

Infrigidate is the one power you have that will annoy everyone, especially regens. I've gone for 5 slots on mine with 2 acc and 3 recharge.

My lvl 35 ice/ice is a pure PvP build so I will say that arctic fog and blizzard are the two powers you could drop for a PvP build, Bitter Freeze Ray should definitely go in the bin though.

For more of a PvP view on Ice/Ice, take a look HERE

When it comes to PvP, I'd dread relying on fly as my travel power with Exofrost and some people said swift/hurdle/SJ/SS was mobility overkill. Having played him up to 200 rep now mainly in Sirens, I can safely say they are not overkill and have been responsible for keeping me alive more than enything else.

Regen scrappers in partitcular will hate you as you drop snow storm on them and spam infrigidate, benumb and basically bring all their HP clickies to a grinding halt while dancing out of range of their melee attacks and chipping in with damage during the breaks.

On a PvE side, Ice doesn't have the mob clearance of other Corruptor sets but when coming up against bosses and AV's you will pwn.

I went pretty much with Arch's build in the end, just with some very minor alterations. end is a little bit of a problem but I'm hoping to sort that out over the last 5 levels with some extra slots.
  25. I've actually seen fly used to devastating effect by a trio of blasters in sirens. With very little by way of vertical combat and the distance penalties related to perception, someone with fly and stealth is a lot harder to see than someone with SS or SJ.

If you go near the ground while in a battle, chances are someone there will see you and attack you. If you're flying high over the battle, it's unlikely they will go after you even if they can see you. Besides, if they do, you should be high enough to fly out of the range of any attackers or SJ'ers very quickly.

Now, back to those three blasters. I have no idea how they had their powers slotted but I suspect they all had snipe slotted with an extra range, 3 damage and 2 accuracy. All three had fly and stealth (one of them may also have had another group stealth power such as grant invis or something).

Basically, while everyone was fighting below, one of these was picking targets and all 3 would hit build up and snipe the same target at the same time before running. 9 times out of 10, the target faceplanted and as soon as they had stealth kick back in, they were back and repeating the tactic.

I don't think I saw these guys die once and they were getting bounty kills all over the shop. One of the most effective uses of PvP teamwork and fly that I've seen in a long while.
