Quote:Not really. Kheldians are 'natural' because Peacebringers are naturally that way. Just alien.
Warshades and Nictus are Science because of the way they are created.
And, yeah, Kheldians. Not Kheldens.
Semantics IMO. Kheldian is as much an origan, more so really, then "natural" and "science". The same could be said, IMO of course, with Incarneits. (prolly spelled wrong. My spellings bad. I've come to terms with it.)
Incarneit/Magic seems IMO to make the most since. (to me)
But, frankly, i wouldn't be supprised if we never see that AT/Origin. Or even a new one really. I'm just optimistic. -

Quote:I would consider this very unlikely. The advertised intent of the end game content (from waht we've heard) is to provide methods to challenge and improve existing characters. Something like this would just make the game City of Tank Mages.
Yeah. The whole "mix and match" concept of hero building is appealing, but IMO, it doesn't really work, as CO has proven to me personally. Why? Balance. You either have to make all the powers so very similar that in effect, they are all roughly the same and the only difference is the effect, or you can't control game balance and tank mages appear screwing up game play dynamics.
IMO, the more free form a game is, the more generic it has to be to remain balanced. In order to have play styles differ drasticaly there needs to be limitations in place for the sake of balance.
No, if anything, i'd say we'll see a single new epic AT for both sides at some point, tied to the new GR content. Maybe.... Incarnites?(I hope i hope)

Late post coming from person who simply followed the dev digest into the topic, adding absoulitely nothing new to the topic and mainly pairiting word for word all the importent point already made in the pages before, that he didn't bother with reading.

I have 2 red siders i consider to be mainly "debuffers"
My first is a Merc/Posion MM. MM has nice debuffs, really nice for AV's. More single targeted yes, but really, it's the AV that NEED debuffing more then anything else. All my pets have a -res prog in them, meaning it's pretty much a given that it fires off and stays applied.I know it doesn't stack, but it's always on an AV, giving that much more punch to the team.
My second, and best, is my AR/Cold Corr. /Cold is an awsome set, really it has as many buffs as debuffs, but they are genearlly kind of overlooked. I have a few -res progs in the build, (one attack, sleet, and somewhere else IIRC...) he makes a mockery of AV's and boy oh boy do i love unloading a full auto into a mob of being hammered with sleet... hehe. Wicked fun.
Or you could do what nearly EVERYONE does and roll a /rad. (even i did..heh) My main blue side debuffer is a Rad/Sonic. It's frankly sicking at it's job, so you can't go wrong there. It's highly popular for a reason after all. -
All of them.
No reallly... just prolifrate all the powersets that make since for the AT and be done with it...
>.> <.< Too much?
Fine.
The ones *I* want to play most are...
Ice Armor/Ice Melee for Brutes/Scrappers. I'm not sure which AT i'd roll, but i'm not really into running another tank.
Ninjitsu for scrappers... very very much want this...
Super Strengh for scrappers already.
Ill for Doms.
Fire/thermal for Defenders.
/Dark for controllers...
BS for Brutes...
I could go on... really, like i said before, just all of them. Get to it Devs! -

I'm not as tech savy as i used to be, but my system is packing
Intel® Core i7-965 Extreme - Level 2 (Factory O/C'd to 3.73GHz)
6GB Tri-Channel DDR3 at 1066MHZ (3x2GB DIMM)
and a
nVidia GeForce GTX280 1024MB
So I'm assuming i'll be able to max out this ultra mode right? -
Quote:20 levels of content in CoH spaned like, 5 or 6 zones? (atlas, GC, kings, prez, hollows, steel, sky.. faultline...boom town maybe?) or maybe 10 depending on how you count it.Why do we need multiple new zones if your whole claim to fame here is we only get 20 levels of content?
In CoV it was.. 3? Mercy, OP, Cupa.. some of Sharks maybe.. or was that more 25?
So, i doubt it's ONE zone. -
Quote:I get the impression that the Posi Secret Project is coming out after GR, but I could be wrong.
I got that impression too honestly. But, well, the only other game in town ATM is champions. And that didn't do much for me. So, i'll take what i can get. And honestly, i know this will sound silly coming form the guy who STARTED this specualtion thread, but we really don't know what's involved with GR yet. So it's hard to judge if it's "big" enough yet.
So yeah, lets speculate, but lets keep our heads too. -
If you join him, he sends you on a special mission to ruin Primal earth. If you are an enemy, you need to excape there until the heat is off you for a while.
It's not a hard sell really. And besides, I'm sure we'll eventually get more to do there. From what i understand, you come back later for somthing epic and climatic. (all assumptions mind you.) -

Quote:I'm imaginaing that eventually they will have enough content to level from 1 to 50 in Preatoria, but maybe not righy off the bat. Even CoV was only 1 to 40 at first. Between lvl 1-20 worth of content, this new "end game" stuff, and go knows what else, they may not have had time to add much more. We don't know what else is involved in this. And frankly, the game needs, IMO of course, an fresh new starting zone, and stuff to do at the end of the game. The middle, goes by fast, and prolly has some of the most stuff to do. Maybe... that's a total guess. heh.How much sense would it make to choose at side at 20 and then be banished to the Rogue Isles or Paragon City from 20 to 50? They have only talked specifically about the new "1 to 20 experience" but it's reasonable to assume there is a new path to 50 in Praetoria (or 40, if they save the 40-50 zone until Issue 18). The only previous expansion we've had (CoV) had a full 1 to 40 experience on launch. My assumption would be that the next expansion would have at least as much content... more, in fact, because CoV had 5 whole new ATs and lots of new sets, as opposed to GR's two new sets and possibly no ATs.
That's my take on it anyways. -
Quote:It was only 3 guys... A Shield/Ice tank.. a Mind/FF troller.. both lvl 4... a lvl 18 warshade, and oh yeah, a lvl 4 Sonic/Traps Corr. So it was 4 guys. I'm still working on leveling 3 before GR. my Fire/Shield scrapper(35), a BS/SR stalker(27), and an Elec/Elec/Elec(41) blaster.I'm not excited about End Game content.
I'm certainly not going to delete all my characters that are under level 25 tonight.
And, it's really not so much getting rid of, as postponing until i see what's happening with GR and the end game. I have OCD tendinces. It runs real bad in my family. So, ideally, i'd like to have all my guys at 50 when it launches... that a way, i can jump right into the end game, OR start a new guy in the new zone, and i won't have that annoying voice in the back of my head, the one that says, "your not done with this guy yet, finish him... FINISH HIM..."
Sides, the highest lvl one was 18, she was a warshade, and frankly, i wasn't feeling it. Prolly won't even remake her... The squids don't do alot for me... I have one lvl 50 Peacebringer, and no real desire to play a warshade... she'd been sitting around for years now... it was time to let go. heh. -
Quote:What Chad said, and I'll go further and say any existing lvl 50 will be able to do the End Game content.
This isn't WoW. Players don't need to "gear up" every time a new TF or zone comes out. End Game content just means interesting stuff for lvl 50s to do, it doesn't mean "ZOMG unless ur purpled out you can't even try End Game N00b Mish #1".
I agree, but have to wonder... how are you going to pull that off?? The game is pretty much easy mode once you hit 50 and IO out... and i'd wager a larger majority of people are doing THAT then the people who are prefectly happy with just SO's. Frankly, the only people i've ever heard talk about just having SO'd build are one or two people hear on the forums. Never in game.
So, how is this endgame, going to be engaging, and promote progression to current powerful lvl 50's, and challanging... while at the same time being doable for you basic run of the mill SO'd out guys? I don't think they can do it... Things are almost too easy now as is... and thery'er going to allow even further progression... but not add any kind of challange?
I think the majority of people will want added challange alone with the added progression, and eventaully simply being an SO'd lvl50 unprogressed just won't cut it for the very end game... I just can't see how it'd work that way.
And i'm not meaning this to be a complant. I like progresson. I like have goals to strive for. I'm looking forward too it... I'm just saying, i don't think the dev's can keep both camps happy in this respect, and wonder how they are going to handle it... -
Quote:Eh. It sounds crasy, but, well, it just kind of happened. I'm not a powerleveler, it's too boring. I play alot sure, but not as much as some can. Maybe 2 hours a night, 4 days or so through the week. Twice that or more on the weekends depending on if i got stuff i need to do. I've taken only few "brakes" from the game, and been hear since the start. I have a high tolirence for repetive activeties, am slightly OCBish, and once i get a hero to 50, and slotted out who i like them, they are "done" and i start work on a new concept. Once i get one started i like, the OCD kicks in and i need to "finish" them...I don't have 35 50s (which is a crazy amount), but I do have 12 of them. I plan to start with my favorite and go from there. I highly doubt I'll take each 50 through the content or progression since I don't play them all anyways.
Lastly, I'm not going to fret or cheer too much over this tincy bit of info since there are so many different possibilities. I'll toss my hat in once I have more solid info to speculate on.
Then, frankly, once you factor in just how easy XP is to make now a days... I'd say 3/4ths of the 50 have happend in the last 2 years. Double XP, the XP curve, Patrol XP, nonexestent debt...
And as far as wild speculationg goes.. heh yeah, maybe jumping the gun a bit, but we haven't had anything new to speculate on in so long... i got excited... heh. -
Quote:You know you don't have to do End Game content, right?
There's no way I'll even run half of my 50s through End Game stuff, but I look forward to the opportunity to revisit my favorite characters and play in some type of new, challenging content that I haven't done before.
End Game content is an unqualified good.
I'm not sure if your talking to me or others, but, I'm not really "complaning" about the end game, as much as I'm thinking... "oh crap... I've got 35 different guys I'd like to run through it... HOLY CRAP, I got 35 to "finish"!?!!?"
CoH to ME, is kind of like my sceatch book... because i can't draw... but have alot of ideas in my head. I think it's why i've stayed and played so consistnly since the start... everyone of my guys has a backstory, if not in a bio it's in my head, they all have concepts... none of them, save one, was powerleveled so i played them ALL... And atm i'm honestly kind of in vaper lock as to who's going to be my "main" again.
Do i go Back to Zero G, (Grav/Kin) who was my first? Do i pick the one that's widely considered my most useful? (Rad/Sonic - Acid Rock) Do i go with something rare? (Plant/TA or ILL/Sonic)
All the same applies to villians. On a slightly smaller scale...
Really.. what I think i need is MORE INFO... So i can make a plan. (it's the ocd in me) *shrug*
Just thinking out loud really... kind of boring here today, so... i got alot of time to mull stuff over. heh. -
Anyone else feel this way? I'm excited to no end about the "END GAME" stuff Posi mentioned. Something to plug our 50's into that help advance them and give them fun stuff to do... very very excited... but..
...
By the time GR hits live... I'll more then likely have... 35 LvL 50 toons. (I'm at about 33 now with 2 over 35 and one just about to hit 30... so maybe 36 even...)
How the heck am i going to decide who should go first?! And.. if it's really involved... who gets neglected and who gets the special treatment... ??
I have over 25 different heros and 10 or more villians.. all of whom i pretty much enjoy playing and like there concepts. If i hadent, they would have been scrapped long before lvl 50...
Infact, this whole "end game" concept has had me scrap my plans for any NEW alts. Once i finish the 3 i currently have over lvl 25, I'm not starting any new ones till i know more about what's going to happen. Anyone under 25 gets there costumes saved and deleted tonight. (just incase i want to remake them in GR...) It's been a slow friday for me here at work.. i've had too much time to think on this topic... LOL.
Anyone else in the same boat? -
Killing Travel Powers? Nah.
Diminishing them? Maybe a bit.
I have upwards of 35 active heros. All... but 3 currently have "real" travel powers. Of them 3, 2, only 2 of my active roster plan on using NR full time. And they happen to be "ninja".(well, ones kind of more a vauge assain type, maybe not a ninja per say but close.)
The other one will get a real travel power, superspeed, but much MUCH later in her life. (like lvl 49) Shes training it to slot a Blessing of the Zepher set to get her ranged defence over 40% (Fire/Shields)
So 2 out of 35 using NR. It's second lest use travel power. Only teleport is used less... with only ONE hero being trained to use it. :/ Never really like TP all that much, but frankly, now that we have NR and in mission travel is much faster now, and hunting around town missions are much easier... i may start using TP as a viable option again.. since i'll have NR as a backup. hmm.
So at the end of the day, no, it's not IMO "killing" real TP's. Just providing a good alternive.
And for people who simple skip TPs for the sake of more combat powers... where the heck are you finding all the slots to make all them powers useful??? I mean.. man. I run out of slots for my powers way faster then i run out of powers i want to take... that's half the reason i take TP's and Fitness... to get powers that are effective with little to no slotting required so i have more slots left over for my other powers.... -
Growth of the Dev team, and a structural rearrangement... hmm. (not a BAD hmm.)
New MMO on the horizon?
*shrug*
I'd congragulate the promoted... but i've been promoted myself once or twice... and it's differnetly a dubble edged sword... So, my congragulations... AND my condolences... did you at least get a raise? Mine came with shinny new perks like company cell phone...(so they could bug me endlessly at home...) and the potentual for better rasise in the future...( which kind of look to be the same size I was already getting... ) -

Quote:I have a death adder gaming mouse... it just didnt' come with the system... >.>Ditto. WD CBlack 1TB box (x2).
Also, that core is absolute overkill for gaming. I'm not kidding. Anyone aware of any games out there that'll actually make use of the threading? I'm not.
Knock that down a notch or two and buy a decent gaming mouse...jeez.
And on that note, and with addition research, i'm guessing it's be fine to upgrade. Cool. Thanks for the info! -
Quote:Heck yeah, those were the days. If you got enough enemies with it, a fun little error message would pop up in-game. I forget exactly what it said, but it was an indicator that the game rolled over and died on you.
The original sound effect was very much like that of Siphon Power without the high-pitched bits.
I had that error happen often. Most often in the eden trial or when i'd indulge in dumpster diving teams. Which was usually kind of fun for me... I had an active roll of following the tanks, SBing them, FSing the herd, and laughing my head off when the blaster went nova...
IT was something like, graphic memery buffer overrun or some such error. *shrug* In Eden trails with a solid tank, i could crash 2 or 3 people on the bottom map EASY.
I still recall the one time a blaster had to of nova'd like, 200 of them crystals, and we got a retalitory strike from like, 400 underlings... that nearly killed me and him, until the tank cleaned house with one footstomp... I have to admit, argo limits are prolly a good thing for game balance, but watching 200 mobs go up in smoke at once, and nearly twice as many underlings explode after one footstomp... ah the memorys. heh. -
Quote:The sound was different. Stronger sounding IMO, somehow... not sure how to explain it. I liked the old sound better. The vissuals have always been the same IIRC. (I've been a /Kin since day ONE, and had FS a few months into the game.) Granted, the FS buffs used to show up in your team buff window better then they do now. Now, i think you have to have all buffs showing to see FS buffs on your teammates... i think the game considers them inhearent buffs or something. That's a bit annoying as i normally have "hide" inhearent buffs on, so as to not have a mega line of buffs across the screen when i play.Question for long-time Vets: Did they change the sound and visual effects for Fulcrum Shift at some point? I seem to remember someone mentioning that they did.
I ask because the sounds and visuals seem so out-of-whack with how powerful the buff actually is.
I can't SEE which members of my team are being buffed, the sound effect doesn't scale well with how many enemies are being affected...overall it just seems like some designer was out to lunch on the sounds and visuals for this freakishly powerful buff. -
Quote:Wow. If I was bored with a game, I just up and quit that very moment. You folks honestly keep paying 15 bucks every month for a game you stopped having fun with just because of the slim hope of a new screenshot or some tidbit of info?
Nah. I keep my sub running when i'm bord to keep my vet rewards current, so i can keep posting here, and because i'm thankfully I can spare 30 bucks a month for the above reasons. Should vet rewards stop, or the money gets tight, well, to bad so sad.
I will say this though. I lack of new and information... on... anything CoH related atm, my enthusaium is starting to fade. And right on the heels of a new MMO i have a mild intrest in. Not a good time, IMO, to be resting on your lorals... but eh, what do i know?
