Quote:True enough. Oddly enough i keep forgeting about that. I'm more excited at the idea of this end game Incarnate system then i am side switching. It's kind of Meh to me. It'll be cool to an extent, don't get me wrong. But, I play what i want to play ATM anyways. And all the current content is a bit stale on both sides for me. So, the new Incarnet system and to a lesser extent, the new 1-20 content are the big draw for me.I'd like to see Poisons available to Controllers, Corruptors and Defenders. To be honest, the "evil set" argument doesn't really hold any water now we'll be able to make villains who can empathise and heroes who can exploit pain.
Oh, ok, tread jack over. Sorry. LOL -
Quote:Eh, i can accually kind of see where your going with that, but if the dev's had that in mind or not, i can't say.I always thought the issue was that Poison is already the MM-balanced equivalent of Radiation Emission, and thus there is nothing to proliferate.
Either way, i'm pretty positive it's get prolifirated eventually. The 9th tier fix would be EASY, make it a teammate instead of a henchmen. And frankly, if the DO that i'll be first in line begging them to change it on MM's... oh how i'd love to use it on a brute instead of my commando... having to order him into melee, while not overly complacated or anything takes time to setup... got to call him over, hit him with it, send him in.. be so much easier just to spray the brute.
That's for Corruptors anyways. I'd expect some changes for heros a bit, even if only in name. (Chemistry? Alchmey?) But it'll happen eventually. I wholely expect all power sets to be prolifreated at some point. (that make since for said at's of course.) I just don't know how soon or when. -

Quote:People dance a jig when i show up sporting my ILL/Sonic or my FF/Archer. "Sonics?!?! SWEET!" Is the common reaction i get. Like every time. I have one of nearly every posssible Support powerset leveled to 50. Only one i'm missing is traps, and franky, i don't like traps, so eh, my OCD will have to deal with it. heh. But anyways, when i ask a team what they want me to bring, and list what i have... they accually rarely pick the empath. My Rad/Sonic, obviously, gets the most requests, followed by my bubbler, with the emp a close 3rd as a matter of fact.I've never actually been kicked for build (as far as I know: I've almost never been kicked at all) but I know it happens. But if the playerbase is now kicking Fire/Fire Tankers or Sonic/Sonic Defenders or anything that possesses force fields, I'm becoming concerned that the biggest threat to long-term subscription numbers is a significant percentage of the playerbase becoming too stupid to feed themselves unassisted and dying of starvation.
I only have 2 tanks so i cant say on that end, (A softcapped to S/L/N/E Invlun/SS and an HP capped WP/BA) i know fire/fire are a tad squishy, but unless your trying to master an STF or something i can't think of a situation they can't handle relrtively well. And tricked out one's are just SICK. (most tricked out builds are.)
As far as blasters or scrappers go, damage is damage... I've NEVER, EVER seen someone shot down for being a "low" damage damage type. Like I said in my first post... I just don't accually SEE this problem the OP discribes in MY gaming expearince. Pugging on my server is basicaly bring whatever you want, whenever you want, UNLESS someones trying for a master tf, then they get a little bit picky, but not overly so. -
Quote:? Eh, just don't see it man. Must be your server.Ok, I have to ask the same question iv asked before, but ill ask it in a diffrent way.Maybe ill get more then flamming this time around.*crosses fingers*
Now, what I want to know is why people stick to Mids, and why they only stick to Flavor builds that 1 Min/Max suggjests to another?
I get flak from other players and booted from teams before missions begin, as well as have minor to cases of extreem biast when I play something that they dont commonly see when it comes to builds.Lets not forget a snarky player that belive your combonation is horrible and lets you know they feel that way.Reguardless if the combo is good or not.
I know alot of you on these boards claim you dont have this issue when you play with other people.Odds are, your playing what they play or whats common.I however dont.
I know this subject acctually angers people, and everyone wants to belive they are individuals, but im still not understanding how thats a possiblity when almost everyone plays mostly the common builds that everyone else does?
When I see 20 Blasters ranging from level 1 to 50 under Atlas. With common or identical combos and looking like a Mercinary re-hash, or Hit Man likeness. All with the Dual Pistols Primary, and 1 of 2 Common Secondaries like Energy Melee or Mental Manipulation. It makes me ask why.
I see more then I care to count in Fire/Kin controllers. We dont even have to get into that one.Its self exsplanitary already.
Most the Scrappers and Tankers I see anymore are basically Willpower or Shield Defense with either Super Strength, Mace, or Fire Melee when it comes to the Tankers, and Elec Melee and Fire Melee mostly for Scrappers as common now days.
I see on forums where people say things along the lines of "Worthless joke build." and its oddly a very nice combonation.Like Ice/Sonic on a Controller, and Storm/Elec on a Defender. These builds arnt jokes, nore are they bad.I have these builds and they are awesome.
Why do people push more then half the power sets in the game back so feircely when they are alot better then they belive them to be?
Is it a fear of the unknown?
Im curious.
Also keep in mind how many people have already PLAYED these lesser common powersets in the past and just don't use them as often now. Newer sets will always have higher represintation. Better sets, will always see more use, and some set are just alittle better then others. Some are just easier to use. They'll be more common. It's just how it is. Don't assume because you'd see me running my new Fire/Shield scrapper around that i'm a trend follower. I've already leveled 7 scrappers before her. Spine/Invlun, my first. Kat/Invun Claws/SR. MA/Regen. You just don't see them as often, i've ran them for YEARS and now the fire/shield is my new shinny.
DP is NEW. Of course we'er playing it. Doesn't mean we don't have Elec/Elec or Nrg/Nrg blasters or Fire/Devices laying aorund. We'er just using the new shinny's. We've played the old stuff. If it's new to YOU, knock yourself out! We may even have some advice for you if you ask nicely. If you just want to see more veritiy... eh, don't know what to say. It's an old game. Lots of us have all these creative alts you want to see, we just don't run them as often cause we have new projects.

Quote:You misunderstand me. Mostly because I haven't explained myself.
Every "healer" I come across I try to educate. They don't get a /kick and /gignore.
I run TFs under a simple mantra: Any build, any budget, no exclusions. It's one of my rules, and I made it to keep myself from being a team structure Nazi. I've allowed petless MMs and empaths on the team.
What I don't allow is them to call themselves a "healer." I've often said "You keep fortitude and AB on the blasters, warn five seconds before you dump the RAs somewhere near the center of the group, and that's all I ask. You know what? Take the heals out of your tray for one mission."
Ok then, fair enough. I can respec that to an extent. Still think it's a tad annel to get all bent out of shape over a word, but eh, you sound somewhat reasonable at least. And, as a note i tried to edit my post to be a bit less conforentational. Didn't mean to signal YOU out, but an attidude... by well, replying to YOU i relised kind of shot that in the foot eh? Also.. did you... highlight all of my very poorly mispelled words? Heh. I'd advice againts that. Some of my longer post will keep you busy all day trying to do that stuff. LOL. -
Quote:Yes, i see alot of people with this attatude. And it's done WONDERS now hasn't it, i almost NEVER hear people use that dreaded h word. .... I need an eyerolling emote.
My opinions and outspokenness about said opinions are the result of the pendulum effect. When the message of "NEED HEALS" is so ingrained in our community, it takes radical action to counter it.
This is a war that's been waged since nearly day one. 6 years now. And it's a war i'm pretty sure you've won, at least in prencable. It's been YEARS since i've seen any kind of powerset disgremanation againts "non" healing support sets. Most people are more excited in my expearince when i pull out my FF/Archer or my ILL/Sonic then when i'm running my empath. Heck, at this point, the only anomitiocity I actively SEE in game towards any powerset is healer hate direct at poor noobs who prolly haven't learned the lingo yet.
Yet because the word exisits still, there can never be peace?
It's always a sad sight to see the perscuted become the percuter.Remember how mad it made you when someone turned you down for a team, or LOL'd at you for not being a healer and stop doing the same darn thing to these so called "healers".
My mini rant is over now.
*** edit *** I want to make a note that i'm not actively targeting or replying to any one person in this tread, but more an attidude is see rather prevently around the boards and some in game. -
I know a think or two about Invlun. heh
LvL 50 Invlun/SS tank with Sofcapped S/L with one Mob in range and the fully capped to all types with.. 6 or 7 mobs. I can tank anything a Granite can, without annoying penelites. (Stones are Prolly still a better choice for MSTF's, Granite haveing a bit more wiggle room with there uber resists, and crasy regen if they slot for it.)
2 LvL 50 Invlun scrappers I've IO'd out, but not softcapped. I haven't gotten around to it... not sure if i will or not. They aren't ment to be tanks and frankly are tough enough as is for what i use them for.
1 LvL 50 Fire/Invlun Brute. Very strong. Needs a reworking to get the softcap in S/L. I keep meaning to do it, i just haven't gotten around to it yet. I have a softcapped Elec/SR that i do most of my "brute" tanking with if need be, so my Invluns kind of been a back bunner project for a while.
All these guys where easily 50 before IO's even existed.Love invlun. It's just, been there, done that, 4 times. It's old news to most of us. Sometimes i think we forget there are noobs out there.. heh.
-
Quote:I'm not Myriad but i can tell you it sure does. I have one SR that's got capped DDR, and one that like 1 or 2% shy because of my passive slotting. And when your trying to squess more DDR out of Sheilds, you slot Membrain to do it in Active Defence. (Kind of sort of cheating maybe... not sure. I've got a few old membrains from a respec i'm saving for my Shield/Ice tank. Figured even if they fix that bug one day i'll just respec them out and use them elsewhere. heh.)Myriad: Is the Defense Debuff Resistance increased by slotting? I had some vague idea that it was, but I wouldn't bet my own money either way. (Ah, the To Hit mechanics. The more you look, the more you find.)
But that only work in power where you can slot defence. Like invluns have a static 50% because they slot resistence. That's my understanding at least. -
Quote:Yeah... i'm supprised anyone could argue it is frankly. The softcap is a magical thing. I've watched people who are softcapped defender and blasters do ungodly things that'll make your jaw drop... against the Romans, all the time. Yeah, if your really unlucky, it can fail on you quickly, but most people in them situations have stuff to fall back on. Self heals, higer then normal resistence, blaster level damage to kill crap now... a combanation of all that... a TEAM to fall back on.So, without defense debuff resistance, is the softcap useless? Hell no.
Heh. My main pice of advice to noobs who seem to be having a hard time with a boss or EB is, "choke down about 3 or 4 small purples and try again." That's been my running advice for 6 years now... cause it's worked perfectly for 6 years.. LOL. -

Quote:Well that's just it. I'd say the Avg Controller/Defender out there in CoH land isn't attack as often as YOU think they should for whatever reason. So are just ignorent. Some just don't mulity task well. I tend to fall into the latter catagory. I attack alot when i'm on my fenders. But when i'm buffing and debuffing, and i'm not. Sometimes i'll miss a whole spawn trying to reshield or rebuff everyone. My controllers are all kind of light on attacks in general because i try and focuse on teaming powers with them. More control, more buffs/debuffs/heals, maybe an attack or two from the Aux pool at the end of the build an my pets. I'm staying busy, i'm just not attacking.Teams with large amounts of Controllers and Defenders really shouldn't be generally considered "low damage". I'm not sure how one could possibly consider such teams "low damage" unless they imagine the Controllers and Defenders as people who "can't/won't/don't push the attack buttons."
I think more people play like that then they do like you discribe. And, as a result, defenders and controller heavy teams in the REAL world, (pug land, were some of use are forced to live and game..) are general saw as lower damage teams. Oh yeah, you can get 8 top notch emps and they can steamroll, but how often you think your going to run into THAT when your out there pugging? I've fallen into my fair share of "uber" pugs of rolling thunder, but there rarer then the run of the mill, "maybe we should look for alittle more fire power.." teams.
This is a mentality i see alot on the boards. An assumption that the masses of player out there are as good, knowlageable, or dedecated at the board going memember are. And they AREN'T. It's not to say they arent good players, but people who take the time to read and post on offical boards tend to be alittle more into the game then the avg public and thus, tend to know and proform slightly better. Don't be fooled. These message boards reflect a small minortiy of the real player base. -
Quote:I'm curious and don't plan on asking your reasoning nor arguing your opinion...
...but what do you and other people consider a "low damage" team?
It's a good question. My best answer is, teams that have average players (not bad, but not uber, i consider myself Avg or slightly above avg. So it's not ment to be an insult.) who are sporting mainly Tanks, Defenders, and Controllers, with Average builds. This does not result in alot of fire power. Great defence, but not alot of fire power. Really good players will make nearly anything work on twicked out builds, but us Avg fokes, not so much. heh.

Quote:Must be nice, to find easy teams. Not all servers are created equally. And besides, in my expearince, most people are reasonable and will listen to an expearinced player assuming the expearinced player isn't talking down to, or mocking them. (lets be clear, i'm not accusing you of that. But you may well have ran into people who's been the victam of that and thus they'er a bit jaded.) When a noob uses the H word and is promply ripped a new one, that isn't teaching them anything outside of the fact people in online games can be jerks. I feel sorry for noobs in such a hostail enviroment.Sadly, educating them rarely works and teams are so easy to come by I just don't bother wasting my time on the ones that are highly likely to be bad. However, on teams I lead, when someone says "we need an X" I just say "We sure don't!" and we then wildly succeed no matter what. I guess that counts as educating people.
-
Then how are they going to learn? Honestly. They could just be noobs who need to be shown the way. Tell them they don't need such and such, and if they'er responsive, great, you've just helped evolve a better teammate. If they'er pigheaded, leave.
I'd rather teach some of these noobs to be better teammates so there are more of them around when i need them. heh. -
I'm extreamly noobish to arena pvp. In pocket d, you can bring whatever right? (hero or villian) Or does it have to be all one or the other... or even sides of each??
Basically, I'm asking what i should bring... whenever you guys do it again. I was tempted a time or two when you broadcasted about it over the last few days, but was in the middle of something and was unsure what it was or what i needed to bring... >.> -
Quote:This was a goal of mine.I'm still working on every buff/debuff set to 50.
Have Kin, emp, sonic, rad there
Have in the 40s traps, FF
the rest are lagging a bit
I have. Kin, Emp, Storm, Rad, Sonic, FF, Dark, Cold, Thermal, Posion, TA, Pain
That's 12 of them. (all 50, all different AT's.) Only one i'm missing by my count is Traps.
And i've TRIED to roll a traps. I just don't like the set... I can't explain it, i just don't like it.
So i'm kind of over that.
I made my other goal of a 50 in each AT and 1 of each Epic AT. (i count the epics as 1 at each, with different powers sets. Don't really want to make a warshade or a widow atm.)
I also was going for all control powersets at 50, but am short one there which is MC. And like traps, i just don't like it. So i'm not forcing myself. I did that to get my one of each goal, and at times it felt more like work then fun, so i'm not borthering with it that anymore. Just going to runthings i enjoy.
So at the moment, i have only one "goal" project. 40 lvl 50's. And I'm currently at 36 with a lvl 47 stalker atm. After that... i'm hoping the end game will be here and i'll have to decide WHICH of the 40 get to run it, in what order...
-
Quote:I always wondered why it seemed like Shield Bash just ends ALL of them at once, every time, but i could stand there miss 5 or 6 shots in a row on ONE drone in the next spawn... Huh. Now I know.. and knowing is half the battle. The have high melee and ranged defence.
Hit them with an AOE typed attack if you can. Cuts right through. -
Quote:I'm going to assume you googled that, and don't just have that little factoid saved in your memory for convenient times like this.
I knew the speed of sound was in the ball park of 750 MPH without the need of google... But I'm a funny like that. Have alot of useless facts bouncing around in my head...And i didn't know it excatily... but now i do. heh.
-
I started my DP/Traps back on the day DP went live, and frankly, I'm about ready to reroll, juts cause I don't think traps is my thing. All that time wasted planting stuff, and the randomness of letting it auto traget stuff, all the more or less useless powers, for the few shinning gems...
And I'm done forcing myself to level a toon just because i want to "have" it even if it's not that fun to play... (I have a touch of OCD. More like OCB.) I did it on an Elec/Elec/Elec blaster, because Elec has always been a personal FAV superpower of mine, and I wanted an Elec guy from day one, but just didn't really like the set all that much... but after at least half a dozen failed attempts, i got one. And relised... what a waste of time.. to level something out of stuberness... So no more!
I WAS planing on running DP/Traps because i've not level a traps user yet, and it's the only buff/debuff/support" powerset I haven't leveled to 50 in some what shape or form. But I'm not having fun with it... Same goes for mind control. the only control set i haven't leveled to 50 yet. It's just IMO no fun.. so, screw it. Of what benefit is it anyways? To say i have it and never use them? No..
That's why I've decided to run a DP/Rad. I've ran a rad, and i had alot of fun with it. So that's what i'm going to do!
And i'm glad to hear it seems to be an effective set.! -
I've got 40 active alts made over the span of 6 years, all with names I genuinly like. I can't, and won't, keep an alt if the name isn't something i *LIKE*. So that's 40 right there. And I've prolly deleted that many or more, most with names that were OK to passable. I've just made 3 or 4 new guys recently, and gotten IMO good names.
Frankly, i enjoy the fact that most of the *common* names are taken, it forces me to get creative. I do alot of gooleing.. and frankly, i've learned crap in the process of coming up with new names... I'll be looking up names with an Ice related theme and end up reading articals on Ice Burgs and Glacures in the process... so naming my heros has also padded my vast "unless facts" pool that i'm ever so proud of. heh.
