  1. According to Positron (in this post) an nVidia 9800 GT would be sufficient as of the time he posted. Two 9600 SLI'd together? Probably. (Keep in mind, things may change depending on exactly what goes into Ultra mode, how they code it, etc.)

Offhand, I can't find a post by a redname where they've said what minimum processor and RAM you'd want to have. (The linked thread is entirely about graphics cards, so, sorry.)

You got me. I really know what's going to happen with Ancillary and Patron Power Pools, and I've been keeping it a secret. A dark, dark secret.

    ......

    No, really, we don't know.

Curses. Foiled by the Monty Python numbering system again.
  4. The Slow Resistance is Global.

The set bonuses always apply (unless you're exemplared more then five levels below when you bought/enhanced the power it's slotted in).

The bonuses of the other two pieces only apply to the power it's slotted in, just like all other non-global enhancements.

As to why anyone would use it? Well, during the Winter Event, it's relatively easy to get the pieces of it from the Candy Keeper in Pocket D, as all you really need to do is farm presents and defeat the Winter Realm GM a couple times to get the Candy Canes for it.

And it's a decent thing to slot in a power that can take Universal Travel sets while you're saving up for the pricey pieces of Blessing of the Zephyr.
  5. I say Dark Astoria should be turned into a PvP zone. Imagine how interesting that would be...

I just had a terrible (or awesome) idea... is it possible in the Mission Architect to have the mission end in failure if you click a glowy?
  7. Man, I would love to see a revamp of Boomtown. Throw in some heavy fortifications manned by the Fifth Column, have them clean the Council out of there, and make it their headquarters.

heck, I'd love to see a mini-TF in Boomtown which has missions to assault the Fifth Column presence there... culminating with storming the gates of their secret underground bunkers.

How were those railings done? I swear, I cannot figure out what object those were made from.

Ah.... yeah, those guys don't survive long when you run it at "Count as eight heroes, +1 level". It's pretty much "okay, follow me, dude" and then CRUNCH, CRUNCH, SNAP.... oh ****, the NPC is dead because I only held aggro on 17 of the 20-something guys in a group.

Every so often, Manticore picks the "best" questions and answers them. (Not in this thread, but on this same board.)

huh... okay, maybe I'm just dense (always a possibility), but if that was the mission with the red/blue/green samurai who auto-rezzed the first time you defeated them... what would have caused that mission to get pulled? I didn't get a chance to play too much of it before I lost internet connection the other day, but it seemed like a fairly straightforward mission.
  13. I'm pretty sure it was Positron, yeah.

And by everything I remember, the level cap isn't going up, but there will be significant content for level 50 characters.
  14. 330552 was still there a day ago... was running it (until my internet connection crapped out) at "count as eight heroes, +1 difficulty", and I really didn't see any reason why it should be removed. (Of course, I'm just looking at it from a player standpoint.)

just so long as we have the option to "HULK SMASH!" through the puzzles if they stump us. :P
  16. Well, there's... no wait.... um.....

huh... I don't think that there are any.

Plus, we don't need to give Masterminds any more pets. :P

    In a nutshell, yes.

Think about it. Every other MMO (okay, at least the ones I've played, which include EQ, EQ II, DAOC, WoW... and a couple others I'm probably forgetting) had the same sort of thing going. First you get to max level, THEN you start experiencing the max level content. Sure, you may have had a few (max level - 1) characters running Onyxia's Lair when it first came out, but these days, you have to be max level (what, 80?) before anyone will let you in a group for any of those end-game dungeons.

CoX is different, though. But it's a hard mindset for a lot of MMO players to break. There are people who race to 50 and then ask "Now what?", not realizing that because of CoX's differences, it's not necessary to speed through the content to get to the end-game. Because there is no real "end-game". Not in anywhere remotely the same way as WoW's end-game....

Since this would involve a whole "extra" beta and follow-up patch round, I think I'd prefer that they just keep it all to GR, rather than put anything out earlier.
I mean, I don't think they're going to add animated NPCs to walk around SG/VG bases, reinstate the Cathedral of Pain trial, or radically alter PvE/PvP.

They might add power customization to HEATs and VEATs or to power pools. They might add some more costume sets. *shrug*

    We don't know.
  20. We don't know.

Odds are, though, if an issue does come out between now and GR, it won't be an issue with sweeping changes/additions.

*nod* I want to think it was a Redname who said something along the lines of "Yeah, you could make a character named Thor as a technology origin Mind Control/Radiation Emission Controller, and if the costume looked nothing like the comic book version, you'd probably be fine. But at that point, you might as well come up with an original name anyway."

    Base building

There's a forum for base building in the player help section. But you're here, so what the heck.

Do you have the Prestige necessary to place more energy production items? The cheapest... strike that... the only Energy Auxillary items are Crystal Focuses (or Circuit Breakers on the tech side), which cost 30,000 Prestige each, and provide an additional 150 Energy each.

But perhaps I'm jumping ahead a bit here. What are you currently using to power your base? A Power Crystal or two?
  23. Now, if you're just in the mood for mindless pounding..... A shield defense/super strength tanker works well on most things. (Well, not Cimmeroans...) You get your positional defenses right away, and end-game, you have 2 AOEs to take out your frustrations on the CoT with. Plus, you have the HPs and defenses (both in Defense and Resistance) to handle most anything they throw at you.
  24. No problem. I think everyone has made mistakes like that before. I know I have. (Thinking I could slot Universal Travel powers in Swift, thinking I could drop Jab when I respec'd, all kinds of "whoops, yeah, I knew that" stuff.)
