  1. Try holding them under hot water for a few seconds before bending them. This softens the metal a bit so there's less chance of breakage.

Or just cut the bases off and re-base on something cooler or more useable. I do this a lot when I'm going to be doing basework.
  2. Are those metal or plastic?

I'm weird about plastic. I prefer metal, but those do look good.
  3. Yeah, I'm going to ReaperCon in May.

There, I will sit in with master sculptors (THE masters, like Sandra Garritty and Bob Ridolphi and Julie Guthrie) and learn some better techniques for conversions.

The ReaperCon 2007 Sophie is sci-fi this year, complete with a massive BFG. I think she'll lend well to conversion so I plan on picking up several.

And then I get to browse the bits bins. Mmmm, bits of pewter metal goodness.

Oh, and for those who don't know, Reaper is starting a new line of pre-painted plastic, but you will be able to see what you're getting before you purchase. This will make conversions fun.

Sanda Garritty did a line called Silver Age Sentinals. It was small, and I think Reaper did the casting, but I could be wrong. They are superheroes, and should still be findable, although it has been a few years.
  4. Hahahaha, these are so awesome, and very fitting for Khep.

    The Goddess is in!

    Divine Help!

    *snicker*
  5. I laughed, really really laughed, out loud, when I saw this. My son got curious as to why I was laughing like that.

    Very funny indeed.

Would have been better with a good BONK!ing

But still, very funny. Ya'll don't really know much about BONK!, my stuffed mummified cat plush toy.

Someday, I'll tell you the story.
  6. I don't know if he'd have the same humor as your own work, T_L. Your stuff makes me laugh. I don't normally laugh at things out loud, but a few of your pieces did.

Of course, I can also see a very dark humor Turkey piece from Graver, and it would be so worth it to see Graver cut loose from The Drah-Ma, especially after the BillZ and IB pieces, which were very graphic.
  7. I voted Graver. I love his watercolors and his style just appeals to me more. There's so much vibrancy and life in his pictures. It's like a moth to a flame. I want Graver art, and am willing to go without some things for it. The problem is, my son needs things, and he can't go without shoes.

    *sigh*

And I've got so many images in my mind I'd love to see him do.

    Screenies

Okay, for my first shot, I was passing a bus stop on my way to a mission, when I happened to see a person sitting there. Now, I know I broke a rule, but I couldn't scroll fast enough and still get the chat bubble, which is what makes this first screenie.

I wonder how long he's been waiting there...

Next is because I couldn't resist the bus stop. Here I am, waiting. I don't have any good captions, though. Suggestions are welcome. In fact, encouraged. I know we've got some funny people on this forum!

    What should it say?

And, lastly, again I was on my way to a mission (not the same one) and after jumping off a roof, I noticed two thieves trying to break in right where I needed to be, so I took care of it. Of course, when I jumped off the roof, I missed the ground (shouldn't I be flying now?) So, I had a fight up high. Other caption ideas for this one are also welcomed and encouraged.

Why don't you pick on someone your own size!

So, there's my newest creation, Ma'aseruat. I was playing with the Character Creator, and liked what I came up with. Revamped an old history for another character from an old tabletop rpg, and thus, she is born.
  9. There was a showing (opening?) of one of his zombie movies that we saw. Outdoors, of course, and lasted well into the night. He was only supposed to be signing autos for a few hours, but he stayed way late to make certain everyone got what they wanted.

I need to develop that film some day.

And my son has a T-Shirt now with Romero's autograph. He was only maybe 3 months at the time.
  10. Mmmm Zombies.

Meeting George Romero was one of the highlights of 2004 for me. Super nice guy.
  11. I took pictures of a couple of eggs I "painted." Not the best, as I was using paper towels and that Paas egg dye, but once I get the pics uploaded somewhere, I'll post them.

Next year I'll make more time and maybe paint the eggs as various characters: Spider-Man, Hulk, Cap, Wolvie. My son likes them.

    "What does Hulk do?"

    "Hulk BASH!"
  12. I'm not selfish:

Among the previous ones I listed add Kilotonnage to the mix. I think that will make five.
  13. Havokamok and Infernal Assassin?

    Turbo Ski?

    Sinfernal?

None of the above are mine.
  14. He's having some RL issues right now, IIRC, so this is on hold for the moment.
  15. I'll try to get Omen on sometime today. Hopefully someone will be on to invite.

    The Dance

    *sigh*

BillZ, you've got some awesomeness going on there. You chose wisely.
  17. Good job on the multiple arms, there. They're a pain in the @&$. I know I had a time trying to get them half-way decent with my Spiral.
  18. I'm with DarkJedi, here. Purely mechanical "disposable" pencils for me. Erasers I use are either the pencil-style so I can get itty bitty parts, or a kneaded one. Anything else doesn't cut it.

Besides, I love playing with the kneaded eraser. It's a great stress reliever!

I can't stand a pencil getting dull, and swore off wood-style back in grade school. For a long time it was strickly the Click pencils, but now I buy cheap disposables. They work just fine. Most of my work is primarily in pencil, although I have a few pastels, which is a whole different style.
  19. Plus there's law, courtesy, and the deviantArt rules, which specify that you must cite your references and give due credit. They also specify that if you do that kind of FanArt, that while copying is okay, you have to change it enough to make it your own. That's why I took down many of my own copies that, while still technically my own work (and subpar when compared to the original), they weren't enough of my own style. There's a very fine line between copying and tracing. I'd be interested to see an overlay of the two pieces, just to see exactly how much they match up.
  20. Juggy, this is easily one of my faves from you. Your no-line coloring style lends this piece a quality that other styles can't touch.
  21. I honestly don't believe any of it is. Notice there are several where he uses graphs? They use that to teach children how to draw. It's the easiest way to learn how to copy things. Start with a graph, and do each as a little individual "picture."

His comment to TurboSki has me steamed. I very nearly gave him what people in my circle call a Snaiting, but figured Juggy was already doing a good enough job, so I did my best to try and give him benefit of the doubt via language barrier.

The chat log, however, blew that away. He is a talentless hack who is stealing from others and profiting from it. I *know* I've seen that "Phoenix" pic of his somewhere, and it's not his.

The words I have to use for him would be censored by this board.

Juggy, thank you for keeping your cool throughout the ordeal, keeping a level head, and not stooping to his level of throwing insults.

Someone mentioned it before, and I feel they are correct. He knew he was stealing, and when called on it, denied it until he realized he was in really deep crappola. When he decided to insult and libel others, he opened himself up for a slew of artists willing to tear him down.

His own fault. Thieves will get caught.
