It's sad to see such a good artist fall by the wayside like this, but if you can't take the commitments and do the work (it is a job, after all) then don't do it.

I gave up a long time ago trying to do "hobbies" as a job. It took the joy out of it (which is why I don't take nearly as many pictures anymore, except of my kids).

And I will never draw for money unless I have to make mortgage payments and put food on the table. In that case, ya'll know something dire went wrong since my job is very secure.

WoW.

That would explain it. I've had friends sucked in by the evil that is WoW. One is a fantastic painter who can't even back away from it long enough during a convention so he can concentrate on painting.

CoH is the only MMO I've played. I'll look into Champions when/if it comes out, but there is no way WoW will sucker me in.

And things like this are why I'm just a little stingy when it comes to commissions. I've been burned badly in the past when making online purchases, so now I rarely buy from anyone unless it's a big box retailer.

I have one commission out there (not MMOart) that is a little lingering, but I also know the artist is going through some troubles at the moment. I just wish they posted a little more or left a note saying they're still on it.

And this is also why I don't do commissions. I know I don't have the time to devote to this kind of commitment, so I don't even bother. If I can do free/gift art, I will, but as it is it takes me over a year to finish one piece (and I stress over it the whole time). Most customers would despise me by now.

Needless to say this has made Khep's main outfit unusable as it ruins the illusion.

I was going to write something really witty, and then it went away and I lost it. That's been happening a lot lately; me forgetting things I was going to do or say and then when I start to do or say it I can't, for the life of me, remember what I was going to do or say, so my witticism is lost unto those realms where lost things go, like socks from the dryer.

Then definitely get that commission page up and running now. Even if it's offering quick character sketches for a ridiculously small amount, you'll see an initial barrage of incoming fundage to help pay for the baby stuff you're going to need, especially when you mention you're having a special commission sale for such needs.

It's worked well for Alex, I think.


I also think we all need to stay away from the water in Independence Port. It might be contaminated. An awful lot of babies lately. My youngest is about to hit the six month mark on June 20th (yes, it has been that long - but he acts like a 9 month old).

I really had fun doing that, a shame it only took me about 4 hours or so - I rarely get a historic assignment and it was a really nice change of pace.

Lately ive been going back to the masters of fine art for inspiration - John Singer Sargent is my favorite; that man could capture life with a stroke, an unreal talent.

Sometimes I get tired that while we've got hundreds of pages begging for some of these costume pieces, the devs horde them all to themselves.

Rant off...

But then again, I get to thinking... if I made my character as I truly see her using their creator, then I'd have to delete her anyway to maintain my rights for my stories.

Sorry, this style just does not suit any of my characters. As it is I had to wait until everyone went to bed before I could even look at it. I generally love Alex's art.
