  1. I have a mission with the following enemies in it:
    Enemy Group: Family (5 - 40)
    Ally: Marcone Underboss (30 - 40) (Group: Family (5 - 40))
    Surrounding Enemy Group: Family (5 - 40)
    Patrol Enemy Group: Family (5 - 40)
Battle Enemy Group One: Family (5 - 40)
Battle Enemy Group Two: Family (5 - 40)

On the arc summary screen, it says that the mission level is 30 - 40.

... but for some reason, the mission refuses to spawn below level 40. If I go in solo on a 35, I'm facing +5s. The only other objective in the mission is a glowy, so I can't think of anything else that could be skewing the levels.

    Is this a known bug?

Putting the tag mostly used by the sort of people who are likely to report farms... on a farm. Brilliant!

Boss text: Not much is needed beyond "Aware" so that people know an important mob has aggroed. Maybe "Unaware" and/or "Defeated" text for EBs/AVs important to your story. But the 3/4, half, 1/4 texts don't add much because they're always variations of the same thing.

3/4: Ha! Is that all you got!
1/2: Arrgh! Maybe you're tougher than I thought!
1/4: Owww! How dare you! Now you must feel my wrath!

Even if you do something more creative, like having the villain monologing about his evil plot during the fight, players may miss it. So fight text is a great area to pare down the file size.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I'm about to dump this text altogether except for the "blarg I'm dead" line anyways because I only rarely see the other, earlier lines actually show up on screen. They do show in the chatbox so I know they're registering, but I think my boss has uttered them "out loud" in a word balloon only once out of ten tests.

Blargh indeed. Anyone else having this issue?

    [/ QUOTE ]

I'd leave the Unaware in always for required bosses. They speak it once you get within a certain range of them, so it makes finding the necessary boss a lot easier.

    Destroying Cars?

It sounds like you're talking about mayhem missions. You get a big chunk of city to yourself and can beat up just about anything in it, including blowing up the cars. They do tend to be pretty decent XP if you feel like beating up all the enemies on the map. All you need to get one is to do newspaper missions in the same zone until you're offered one by your broker. If you don't have a newspaper yet, you should have a few brokers listed on your contacts list. Talk to one of them to get the newspaper contact.

Keep in mind this could ALSO be used to make some tfs harder. Already beaten MOSTF or MOLRSF, fine, now you challenge yourself even more!

    [/ QUOTE ]

I expect a truly epic badge for soloing a MoSTF set to spawn for 8.
  6. Heck, I'll sign this idea and I've been vehemently anti-farming. All this would change is make it so they wouldn't have to harass people to fill for them, thus making things less annoying for the rest of us... and it'd let my AoE-oriented characters fight groups of enemies large enough to actually get real mileage out of AoEs solo. It's always annoyed me that the difficulty slider will give us small groups of high-level enemies, but not large groups of similar-level enemies, when there are powersets specializing in both.

Or they could just give my villains more hazard zones and make more 40+ hero ones. Either one.

    Zergling Swarm:
    1) Create a custom enemy group that only contains one minion type. The minion can be anything, it really doesn't matter.
    2) Set the mission map to something large and outdoor. City 02 works well, particularly with its spawn points.
    3) Max out the number of "Protect" objectives. It doesn't matter if they're required or not, since custom critters suck at killing protect objectives. This is about swarming the player, not causing instafail
    4) Make sure to max out the spawns around the objectives

I know for a fact that City 02, when given the max number of protect objectives, will often spawn multiple objectives on top of one another. I've seen up to 5 at the same X,Y,Z location (there may be others, but Cuty 02 is the only one I've tried). This means all 5 spawns surrounding the objective will be at the same spot. where it gets really juicy is that Protect Object objectives all have an ambush attached to them. With 1-5 objectives spawned at the same spot, while fighting 1-5 spawns worth of minions, you'll get 1-5 ambushes all spawning at the same time, for 2-10 spawns worth of enemies aggroed on you.

Bonus points for setting the difficulty to Tenacious or Unyielding (larger spawns) and for bringing an 8-man team. On a *THREE* person team, I've had enemies disappearing because the game had reached its entity draw limit (>100 entities on screen)

Bonus bonus points for bringing a Thugs MM; Arsonist's Fire Bomb doesn't have a target cap.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Now this is a challenge I can get behind.

Outdoor map. Every spawn has a boss set to run at the lowest amount of minion deaths and damage. All of the minions and lieutenants have +speed powers like Accelerate Metabolism and Speed Boost.

    Things we can't do now:

    1) Create a custom enemy that uses standard enemy costumes. For instance, you can't create a unit that uses Freakshow costume pieces.

    2) Modify a currently existing unit to have differet/new/more powers & rename it. For instance, you can't take a Freakshow unit & give it new powers.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I've heard that these two are because NPCs use a different skeleton than players and custom NPCs do, so powersets can't just be ported between the two and 'normal' enemies can't use custom powersets.
  9. Arc Name: The Magical Robot Rebellion
    Arc ID: 49204
Faction: Circle of Thorns and pretty much every robot in the game.
    Creator Global/Forum Name: @Kelenar.
Difficulty Level: Low/medium. No custom enemies or EBs/AVs. Lots and lots of lethal-resistant guys and a few bosses, though.
Synopsis: A friend of mine made a joke about a possessed Kronos titan, and well, I got to thinking. The Thorns always need bodies, and robots are everywhere these days...
Estimated Time to Play: 10-60 minutes. Fairly stealthable.

I'm not sure what's best, but my controllers and doms have been doing poorly. People like giving their custom critters mez protection >.<

    [/ QUOTE ]

Ugh, yes. Soloing on my dom, about every third arc I try, I have to drop for difficulty. When I have to bring along enough purple inspirations to soft-cap my defense just to survive a fight because my controls aren't enough to hold a minion even with Domination up, something's wrong. There are just too many mezz-resistant groups and PToD around.

    Deviants

This is basically what the Epic/Patron power pools are for. Way back in the olden days of long ago, there were no ATs and people could mix and match power pools. It led to huge power gaps ranging from 'totally unplayable' to 'soloed the Sun.'
  12. [ QUOTE ]
I thought inspirations as a resource could be better.

I think we could abolish them as a material, and instead make them into abilities bound to the F1-F5. As we fight enemies, a resource fills up to a certain point and enables us to pick an inspiration to fire off. If we wait a little longer and allow it to go into a sort of "overdrive" part of the bar, we can fire off a significantly stronger version of the inspiration you choose.
This would remove the random factor of insp drops while in missions.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I'm against anything that takes away my ability to stockpile purple inspirations for the six billion EB fights villainside.
  13. Yesyesyesyesyes. Most of my villains are much more the 'I have built a radioactive robot gorilla the size of a small city; I'll expect one million dollars' types. This'd be a nice change from 50 levels of playing an angry mercenary.
  14. [ QUOTE ]
The first change that would make me like Vigilance more, is if they made it so you didn't have twenty-odd Vigilance icons dancing around your screen. I haaaate that.

    I agree 100%
I was on a team a while back and we had a MA/WP toon on the team. All I said to the player was: "The Martial Arts set is ok and all, I just don't like the animation for Eagle's Claw."

You'd think I'd said something negative about religion to a Christian, this player was so irrate. With his "You don't know what the *Censored* you're talking about. The damage on it is insane!! *Censored* newb!" "....ummm....wasn't talking about the damage output, but the animation there." That player went on cursing up a storm, but anyway....

    [/ QUOTE ]

And doesn't the super-long animation on it make it one of the worst DPA attacks in MA? Or did that change in the last round of changes to the set?

  17. Just like the opening said...
"Various servers have their RP hot spots. On Virtue (The Unofficial RP Server) the three main locations are Under Atlas in Atlas Park, Gemini Park in Galaxy City, and the Paragon Dance Club."
  18. I'm a guy in RL. A straight guy.
2/3 of my RP chars or so have been female.

All of my female characters wear decent amounts of clothing, except for one who has a chitinous shell. Quite a few of them have had full-body suits of armor.

My main is a formerly insane demi-goddess who stole a male body to help her get into the army and have more fun hurting people.

Yep. That being said, I find most RPers on Virtue to be very open and easy-going about the gender issue. Quite a few of the more popular and well-known characters are being played by members of the opposite sex. Many of these characters are in IC relationships.

*shrug* It's a game. Have fun and don't whine about others trying to do so, unless they intrude on your fun.

Not that anyone in this thread seems to have a problem with that.
