I'm surprised nobody's said they'd wanna name their imps Larry, Curly, and Moe yet.

As much as I'd like to have it, I suspect that letting us pick up objects would take a ton of development work. They've said we can't have things like two-person dancing emotes because there's no way to really control two different characters' positions in relation to each other, and I expect throwing things would fall into the same situation.

Quote:I like to think the hostages are outright insane. My main gripe with stuff that sticks around? If you have to rescue someone, they *won't move* until it all desummons.
Waiting for a hostage to move because the Knives tossed Caltrops somewhere over... thataway... is annoying.
"I can't move! What if the caltrops see me?!"
Quote:Quick/assisted respec. Something like, if you had Flares slotted with six pieces of Devestation at the start of the respec and you still have the power six slotted at the end of the respec, the enhancements would remain slotted. Button on each power to move slotted enhancements to the Unplaced bin. Same treatment for power trays.

Well, it said the sizes are based on how much 'social activity' goes on there, which could mean darn near anything. And for all we know, the bulk of it is taken up by free-to-play browser "MMOs" or Asian ones that don't have much influence here.

Quote:I played in a duo of characters where we both treated Arachnos like this. Mine was obsessed with trying to talk people into joining the Crab Spider program ("If I get three more people to agree to the spinal implants, I get a plaque!")My favourite (of the derided "Joke character") is Fortunate Daughter, who is a valley-girl Fortunata. She pretty much treats working for Arachnos as one would do working for any major corporation.
I don't tend to focus much on backstories, more on costumes and concept. -
Hail Striker: Was born into an ancient clan of onmyouji in Japan. When she was young, a terrible demon mustered forces to protect it as it cast a long and powerful spell that would plunge the world into apoctalyptic storms forever. A great battle was fought against it, but the demon couldn't be defeated, only weakened, and the spell neared completion. In a last-ditch effort, the elders of her clan decided to use an ancient demon-binding ritual, which required a human body in which the demon could be imprisoned. She was chosen.
The ritual worked, capturing the demon in her body a mere few syllables from completing his spell. The girl was covered in binding tattoos to make sure he could never escape and reducing his influence over her mind. Since it was impossible to completely ensure that he could never influence her, though, the girl's tongue was also cut out, so that the demon couldn't finish its spell even if it took her body over entirely.
On the upside, she learned to draw on the power of the almost-completed spell to manifest storm and ice, and later, on the demon's own power to tap into the netherworld. She fights crime in Paragon with these powers, and still refrains from any sort of explicit communication with other people, just in case the demon might take her over for a moment and tempt somebody into completing the spell for it.
(Storm/Archery/Dark Defender, with the Archery RP'd as her shooting icicles and lightning bolts from her bow. About the closest she ever gets to talking to people is facial expressions and the occasional impromptu ice sculpture.)
Sorrow-Weave: Was born in the Shadow Shard near the climax of the battles between Ruladak and Faathim. She's a mutant, able to channel destructive energy, but more importantly, also slightly telepathic in an unconventional manner. She feels the emotions of the people around her, but reversed. Being around happy people makes her feel angry or sad, being around sad people makes her feel good, and being around people in pain makes her feel goooood.
This obviously made her have some problems growing up, and the rest of her community started whispering that the girl must be Ruladak's daughter, somehow tainted by him in the womb when his war raged across the land. She soon enough grew to embrace this, taking what she wanted and ruling through strength alone, and when Primal Earth came into contact with the Shadow Shard, she just saw another target. These days, she rampages across the Rogue Isles, trying to prove herself worthy of her 'father's' strength and find a way to free him for good. -
Yeah, he's saved my butt quite a few times by holding aggro from adds for long enough for me to layer some extra mezz.

Changeling game. The basic setup of Changeling, for those who aren't aware, is that the characters all got kidnapped by oldschool European style fae (the kind who kidnap babies, not the kind with sparkly wings) at some point before escaping, and they get warped by their time in the fae realm and end up with supernatural powers based on what role they served over there. Think of them as mutants and it'll mostly make sense. The big part is that, while changelings are warped to look thoroughly unnatural, they still look like normal people to everybody else.
So, the characters:
Polly: 5-year-old living flower who trips up on Ls and Rs.
Chris: Living doll girl. Slightly out of touch with reality. Basically sworn as Polly's big sister/guardian.
Rose: Rabbit girl. Newcomer.
For any old-school Virtue folks reading, Wildcat X played Polly, I played Chris, Kelp Plankton played Rose, and Hei Kuei Nyan was GM'ing.
Rose had just recently escaped, and ended up traveling with Chris and Polly. Rose didn't know of any powers she had, but Chris had been around enough to know that pretty much every changeling had some powers tied to their changes. Chris decided to point her at rabbits to see what happened.
Chris: When the group arrives to the pet store, Chris immediately leads them to... a cage of fluffy bunnies. She gestures the bunnygirl toward them. "Go on. I bet you can do something."
Polly: Polly finds kittens to play with. yay!
Rose: "Like what? Make them fly? Come on. This is stupid." She rolls her eyes.
Chris: "Talk to them? ... I can make a shield of metal, but I don't want you making a bunny-shield. Maybe make them more powerful or something..." She trails off. "There are a lot of things you could do to bunnies."
GM: The bunnies sort of chatter in mass back and forth.
Rose: She bends down, squinting at the rabbit. "...hey, you. What's up?"
GM: One of the bunnies turns to look up at the large bunnygirl. "Are you here to choose?"
Rose: She stares at it. "...'scuse me?"
GM (bunny): "Choose to take... or sacrifice to the all-consuming god of the otherside."
GM: On the other side of the store is a large anaconda.
Rose: She glances behind her at the anaconda. "...they FEED THE BUNNIES TO ANACONDAS HERE?!" She isn't quiet.
Polly: Polly jumps. "Who what now!?"
Rose: She's rather the opposite of quiet, in fact.
GM (bunny): "It consumes the unrighteous, it is the darkness that takes us."
GM: The proprietor looks uncomfortable at the outburst: "No..."
Rose: She leans back down, being quiet. "That's pretty messed up there y'know."
GM (bunny): "The righteous have nothing to fear from the dark god that consumes."
Polly: Polly looks wide-eyed at the bunnies and the snake, then the proprietor.
Chris: Chris looks at the anaconda blandly. "I can think of worse ways to die."
Rose: "It's called a snake, by the way. Not 'the dark god'. Just so you know."
Polly: "They have to wive in that tiny widdwe cage and then they get eaten...!?" Polly's eyes tear up. Big Shiny Teary Doe Eyes ACTIVATE!
Rose: She stands up and coughs slightly. "Time to leave."
GM: Another bunny pipes up, "No, let it sleep. For when it sleeps, it dreams; when it awakens, all will be consumed by the long thin god."
Rose: "The bunnies are FREAKING ME OUT." Her ears twitch. She begins to walk out of the store.
GM: A third bunny, "I am sacred. I have lived my life proper... Rapture me!"
Chris: "Polly..." Chris pats her head soothingly. "Um. ... ... is there any way I'm getting you out of here without buying every single bunny deargodpleasesayyes?"
Polly: Polly looks up at the proprieter wide-eyed. "Do you pwomise you don't feed the bunnies to the big, mean snake?"
GM: And then the bunnies go through why they are all more worthy of being raptured by the human who can understand them.
Chris: Chris silently mouths "YES" at him.
Polly: ...Aww, Polly's little lip is wibbling.
GM (Proprietor): "I would never do any such thing."
Rose: She glances from bunny to bunny, eyes slowly becoming a bit more confused and disturbed. "STOP STOP IT. STOP THAT. YOUR GOD IS A LIE! YOU ARE LIVING IN A WORLD OF LIES! STOP LYING it's really creepy."
GM: People are staring at the bunnygirl.
Chris: "... er." It's a bad day when Chris is the calmest, sanest one around. "... thank you!" She quickly grabs Polly and the bunnygirl and tries dragging them out of the store.
GM: A bunny in the back: "I knew it."
Rose: After a moment, she coughs, and straightens her posture, adjusting her shirt.
Polly: Polly does not come with!
Chris: Chris stops, rooted by the implacable anchor that is a self-righteous 5-year-old. "... Polly, we really can't, er, play with the bunnies anymore..."
Rose: The bunnygirl laughs nervously and waves to the various customers. "...hey... hi... how are you? I'm fine. Nice weather today..."
GM: The bunnies start fighting each other as apparently their basic concepts of society have been completely overturned.
Rose: She glances uncomfortably at the bunny civil war.
Rose: "Well it had to be done."
GM: It's more like a bunny Jihad.
In an earlier session of the same game, Chris (who was pretty darn near to being a ninja by this point) and a hardcore paramilitary dude with an AK-47 spend half an hour trying in vain to hurt a giant spider monster, only for Polly to knock it out with an absurdly lucky roll while throwing a rock at it. -
I used to PvP in Siren's Call on a daily basis, and there was a good deal of RP to be found. One of my favorite moments in the game was Cackle hitting on my Scrapper for a good ten minutes while they dueled, until finally the two of them ended up dying at the same time and landing on top of each other. I'd log in, grab whatever character I felt like fighting on, head to the zone and go to town. But...
Quote:then this happened. I can't just grab a random character and head to the zone anymore. They'll probably need a second build, since their powers all work differently in PvP, and most of their good attacks will probably be inferior to crap like Flurry. If they have a lot of stacking of effects, DR nerfs them. If they're a buffer, DR nerfs them. If they use Teleport for travel, lolz. The feeling that I could just grab any character I like and make a meaningful contribution in PvP has disappeared, and it took my interest in PvP with it.post-i12 PvP have reduced the number of power sets you can use to excel in PvP. Also, turning the game into two entirely different words mechanically
Really, the general gist seems to be that a lot of RPvPers were only casual PvPers, and there's not a lot of room for that anymore.
In the old days, you didn't pretty much need a build just for PvP. Yeah, different characters had different levels of viability in PvP, but it was nowhere near as bad as where it is now. Like the OP explained at the opening of his post... folks on Virtue tend to put a lot of work into their characters. Discarding them to make shiny new /Regen scrappers to PvP with (or whatever's big these days) isn't an option for most. -
I believe that one Nemesis mission actually does make a civilian on the street say something along the lines of, "*click* Lord Nemesis is watching you, <charname>."

The way I read it, trains and ferries don't link to each other. It's just that you can go to Green Line destinations from the Yellow Line and go to anywhere in the Isles on the Mercy/Oakes ferries.
-
Quote:Awesome. I wonder if the rails in Paragon are going to be physically linked somewhere, since as I recall, they form pretty coherent circuits through the city if you follow the tracks in-game.Alternate Power Animations
All City of Heroes characters can play and enjoy more Tip missions, while City of Heroes Going Rogue characters can choose from more missions* that impact a character's alignment.
Merged Monorails and Ferries: The Transit Authorities in Paragon City and the Rogue Isles have made major improvements to the monorail and ferry system by merging their respective routes. All monorails can now travel to every monorail station on the Green and Yellow Line, while all ferries can now travel to every ferry station in the Rogue Isles. -

Quote:I'd be game. My current marketeering character is at 48 right now, so killing is good.I have a question. Since Virtue is my home server, and I'm doing stuff every night there, is there any interest in anyone actually earning experience/tickets/merits with their Crazy 88's toons, or are people mostly into marketing their way to fame, fortune, and influence destruction?
Anyway, since I've never held a cool billion--my Dominator's build was probably about 1.5 billion, but I spent it as I earned it--I figure my goal for the time being will be to take my Stalker from 350 million to 1.35 billion, then burn 1 billion at once. It'll make a good concrete goal to see just how fast I can hit the 1 billion mark.
Edit: Dangit. I somehow missed this was all heroside, so my villainous stalker just might have trouble participating. Once her sales clear, I'll send the funds to one of my richer Defenders and pick up there. -
-
Well, the main thing my Stalker ever wants from a tank is... hold most of the aggro. That's really about it. If every enemy's aggro'd on the tank, it means I can Placate and AS mid-battle a lot easier. Don't believe the rumors of squishiness--most Stalkers can survive quite a bit of anger pointed their way--but we do a bit more damage and can spread our Assassination debuff more regularly if nobody notices us. Other than that, Stalkers function pretty similar to Scrappers most of the time.
