I guess I sort of agree? Most my art is of my alterego, there happens to be a character in CoH called Kai, but there was art and my online self long before there was a CoH, so I don't know as you could really make an argument of it being CoH character art or not.

As for my own stuff, I've only really been doing photomanipulations for Live Action references of my characters and others. Roxy Acetylene is at least twice as popular than the others it seems

Heh, I'm an RPer and most my character art is multicharacter, the characters with the most art are the ones that talk to me most and end up in situations where art would be cool of a scene or a relationship. I have a blaster, a controller, a scrapper, a corruptor that all have art, two of them happen to be 50 but none of their art is because of it.

I don't like the idea of an artist drawn model sheet mostly because the artist themselves will bias the look of the character, and some of the most amazing art I have is letting the artist I'm commissioning interpret the costume and references without another artists ideas being their starting point.

If you are looking for a standard, consistent, precise way for the character to be drawn its not a bad plan, but a lot of fun can come of letting the artist take creative liberties

(Also, not ignoring your request for artists, its just my personal style/preference is very manga/anime and not very comic booky, I doubt you'd like the artists in my collection )
