...because I sure as hell can't shut up
Been a long time since I last drew stuff, ran out of ideas really. The first is a character of mine Selene, was drawn likely a couple months ago, and has been sitting in my scanner while I totally forget to get the drivers for it again and discovered it when I went to scan the second, a future character of mine.
You know that I could *not* find a stupid reference for her pose? So yeah, I know the knees bent and canted in towards each other doesn't show well. -
Yay log cleaner...
..I sorta wrote a quick and dirty online one while waiting, and have gotten used to it, so when I find some free time (ahaha..) I might see if I can't redact the source into a .NET webappThanks for the new version!

So its usually a crowd of a whole 2-4 depending on who I can drag along, but Wednesday nights(eastern time) in Gemini Park in Galaxy City, next to the overpass by the gate to Perez, Sunday nights at the hot dog in Port Oakes on the north shore, straight north of the Mercy ferry. Attempting to get some random RP happening

Quote:Heh, true, I don't really know many people who honestly sit at a con and draw all day, most doodle on napkins in the bar or mess around with something between panels/shows/etc, but I always like to point out that con goers are rabid about art, I've had someone offer me money to draw something before while I was just wasting time in the back of a program, which, seriously, very much not real art, so most anyone with real skill is good to goPlus if it were my first con I think I'd want to be going to events and trying out stuff and not necessarily drawing the whole time, I think the people that can sit and draw through one have been to enough of them that they wont feel they are missing out, just a guess though.
Quote:Well hopefully it has come a long way since that first meet-and-greet and it appears there are many people willing to spend the money/time for it so there has to be something more to it now, right? -
*passes TL the leftover bag of Cool Ranch Doritos*
There. Now you are in fact, all that and a bag of chips. Who can argue, it even says cool in the name! -
...leave your a/s/l?
Yeah I spend too much time with social retards... -
There's been something mentioned with GR about 'new ways to make level 50 characters more powerful' which could be anything from additional buffs, to temp powers, to a new zone with stuff that works only in it, to more purple IO sets.

You know...a lot of my characters have really complicated outfits...here's Jae/Wyld Fyre for you if you'd like though, something fairly simple in the design department
-
There is something to say about preferred style, anyone whose looked through my collection will notice I'm much more a fan of manga/anime styles than realistic or comic ones, and have been accused at least twice of not knowing what 'real art' is :7

This is rare for me, but I'm going to use an absolute. We will never see a level cap increase in CoX unless the advancement system is completely revamped. Adding levels with the power/slot system would be nearly impossible. I would go so far as to say we will very likely not see one ever because of the design philosophies of the game, that being no endgame and actually encouraging playing all levels instead of WoW and clones where the object is to get to max level as soon as humanly possible so you can get to the 'real game'.

Collector involvement in a commission is up to the collector and the artist and really should be decided at time of commission
Me personally, I like seeing what artists do with the basics of a character. To me, its pointless to go around telling people how to draw Kai for instance because the reason I paid them was to share their vision of her given whats out there so far. I'm also pretty sure LJ and JP's current sales for instance do not reflect a pricing of spending a week with someone going back and forth over details and color palettes ;7
-
True, but even stated politely its irritating as a commissioner. I don't have the resources to be throwing three digit payments at published artists, so I'm well aware that most people I commission are going to have flaws with their art, some of them probably quite big, but its still irritating when I as commissioner post something and someone decides to come in and comment about all the things that are wrong with it, as well as useless as the artist is very likely not even on these boards if its me posting it instead of them :7
-
I think it depends on the purpose of the art. Was it a freebie an artist did? Is the artist looking for critique? Did the artist post it themselves? Offering feedback on something an artist whips out for fun and posts is magnitudes different than criticizing a piece of art some one posts that they had commissioned an artist for for instance.
In one case it comes across as helpful commentary, in the other, as a preteneous ***** telling someone that they wasted their money for something they are likely very happy with. -

Late response, had to work the weekend at, oddly enough, a con....
HeroCon is Paragon Studio's own little con in San Jose at the end of October. Mostly just for my own curiosity, since I'm going, I wondered if you were because I thought it would be fun to watch you draw something :7 I daresay though that you could likely make a chunk of change there drawing if you wanted to as well, since people could walk away with sketches rather than be waiting for files to come through. -
Another wonderful commission from PlayWorkArt

Oh don't worry about what you are doing for free, regardless of whether you feel like drawing Roxy or not, you will get a commission from me for Kai once the budget recovers from wiping out savings on house/vehicle repairs

Wow, really nice stuff CR! I'm always impressed with marker work, such an intimidating medium when one stray mark can ruin the whole picture. I don't suppose you are going to HeroCon, hmm?
-
Not like I have a heck of a lot of art skill, but a tip that I got when working with scanned drawings in set a new layer on top and ink that layer, so you get the clean ink but still have the sketch for reference for shading/coloring/etc

For those not following along on dA, art by the ever cool John Printemps/Another Genius of a character of mine, Black Symphony. College student Zeke made a pact with the riftwalker demon Azkythe, and they split between them who gets to be around physically. (Inspired by the Science booster, and an old anime called Birdy the Mighty...)

The news? No one needs a translator for that, I'm pretty sure 'd0000m!!11elevety1' is fairly universal ;7

Quote:...did you just ask to be duct taped?Nuuuuuuuuu! I don't think I can be nice for 72 hours. It's not in my genetics! Someone get the duct tape. :9
Well... never let it be said I'm not helpful! cheerfully duct tapes Suichiro to the forum ceiling, steals her credit cards and goes to order Cashoo art >.> -
It is mostly that process for thin glass, yeah, thicker glass you get into sand etching (whoo messy...), last that I was messing with it I was working with reverse pattern etching with mirrors, which is way more complicated than I thought it would be :7
-
That looks a lot more time consuming than glass etching, that's for sure! But nice results, especially for the first time doing it, hope you find it fun for a while
standard glass etching disclaimer: glass + air travel = BAD, no, no glass etched anything at HeroCon
