Yes, there are other shop buttons, although I would not describe any of them as obtrusive. The game about the ring, now they have obtrusive buttons. (Every time you get the equivalent of a badge in that game, you get 5 of their point currency. And a pop up asking if you want to go to the store and spend money.) And you can't turn any of them off, even if you are a VIP. Including the 2 on the main UI. Putting up with the button is one of the things you have to do if you are going to play for free. And at least you can move it behind something, so it is out of the way.

Also, I was appropriately referred up from a Steel Canyon contact (name is totally escaping me already!) to Jose Escalante, a lv30-34 Founders' Falls contact. So that kind of introduction is also still working.

I know Montague is in the Contact Finder, although you can't use the teleport feature to get to him. You mean that Lou is showing in the Finder? That would be the first time I have heard any of the old styles showing up in it. If that is what you mean, I am glad to hear it. It is something I have been wondering about since Beta, but I never managed to get any of my characters high enough to find out.

Thank you very much. I appreciate it. I only have a 19" monitor and keep my desktop at 1024x768, which causes problems in these days of 21"+ and widescreen monitors.

Though it's true that my Vet status cost a lot of money over the years, it's also true that NCSoft would have to be crazy to tell all of their long-term customers that they should stop paying for the game.
There is also the Tier 9 VIP stuff like the Celestial costume parts. And you would have to buy a license for the EATs and any new stuff added from now on like powersets and zone content. Still much cheaper than the monthly subscription. And I agree with everything else you said. I am just not that articulate.

Umm, no. The actual chain of events has been posted in this thread, and Arcanaville posted the entire sequence in detail here.

Arcanaville also talked about this, but it was on the Beta forums I believe. And they have actually been working on Freedom for well over a year (Closer to 2 at this point). They just showed it to the lucky few this year.

I could have sworn I posted about running it on my level 11 blaster. A few hit points and 2 empty slots being the only difference from being level 10. I will probably be taking all my characters through, either exemping or doing it some time between 10-20 if they haven't outleveled it. Because it doesn't take long at all and the rewards are nice.

I am certainly not going to avoid it because it is too hard.

Voluntary for VIPs, to give us the choice of the VIP title or our title from posting, but probably not voluntary for Premiums/Free.

Can't be any more comical than the guy I just saw on Virtue Help screaming because he can't use his Demon Summoning MM as a Premium, because he bought GR. People kept pointing out he bought access to the poweret, not the AT, and that he needed to talk to customer service since the players certainly couldn't do anything about it, but he just kept yelling. Don't know how long he kept going, I ignored him after about 5 minutes.
  9. If Snow Globe's answer doesn't help, check your options to see if you have the Razor tray enabled. It is used by the Razor gaming mouse, there is a toggle on the Controls section of Options I think.

For your second, you could try resetting Keybinds. I am pretty sure the set up for the powertrays is in that section.

He would be better off taking the threads and creating a common from 2 runs then needing 4 runs to get 1 common by converting Astrals to shards. Either way, it is not a good method since you can only get the rewards once a week.
  11. I have been uploading my default options on characters as I log into them since I21 started. When I do, the UI switches to the hero colors, because that is what I use on the character I saved the options on. But when I zone, the colors switch back to whatever the character normally has. Otherwise, I have not had the switching the way you guys are describing.

  13. They have already said they are working on another zone for revamp. They said it is one that is not mentioned very often on the forums, so my guess is FF or Bricks.

For your frustration with Wincott, for future reference, you have a button on your Contact list that opens the Contact Finder. It doesn't show all the contacts in the game, just the ones that are newer and level approriate (Unfortunately it also doesn't remove contacts you are finished with very fast.) If you haven't met one of the contacts on the Finder, you can teleport to him. (This part doesn't work if you get a pop up saying the contact wants to meet you, like with Montague. The Finder considers that pop up as "meeting" that contact.)

David Wincott does appear in it, and you can use it to teleport to him. That saves you steps that direction. A QOL improvement that was also added to the Hollows. The small shed that is there at the fences near Wincott? It will teleport you any zone. One last thing, if you go talk to Wincott at any point before talking to one of the contacts like Seaborn, you will not get sent to talk to Wincott. With the new teleport stuff, at some point just tp to Wincott, then tp back to Atlas and go on your way, never seeing him again unless you want to.

Edit: Once thing to remember about the Atlas revamp. They worked on it for the last year. So getting the other stuff redone will not be fast.

As long as you have not received a pop up that a new contact is available and wants to meet you, you can teleport to them. When you get Montague, he is in the Contact Finder, but you can't teleport to him because the pop up means you have already "met" him. I don't remember if Jim has a pop up or not. If he does, and it doesn't show up until after he appears in the Contact Finder, you could TP to him. Otherwise, you are SOL.

I kind of like the Bus service idea, with stops in the various zones in different locations than the Trams. Say one north and south on the west side of IP, one north in FF, SE in Bricks, the middle of Steel and Skyway, NW part of KR, and in Faultline. It would make sense that buses would make it back into the zone before the trams got expanded that far. And maybe we would actually see some buses in the streets for all the bus stops we have sitting around unused.

No, the SCR says we don't know how much work it would take. Could be easy, could be hard, but we don't know since none of us are programmers, haven't seen the code, and the Devs aren't talking. But in this case, we do know it would take a huge amount of work, basically re-writing the game as Memphis_Bill points out (And I would say making a copy & paste would be a good idea Bill), so the SCR doesn't apply.

OTOH, the SCR does apply to FredrikSvanberg's later idea, since we don't know how much work it would take to implement. (I would guess a lot more than he thinks, but SCR. :shrug

Wrong, again. And I changed my mind about doing this for every wrong thing you have whined about in this thread, both because it got boring fast and because I don't think the board would allow me to post something that big.

No. It is a completely understandable reaction from someone with reading skills.

My second account got started with a GR Complete Edition purchase when Steam had it on sale. I also purchased the AE edition, the GvE edition, and the CoV Collector's Edition (very cheaply, about $25 total including shipping) and so it will have a few months of VIP access. And the Magic booster stuff that I got for free with the AE edition.

When it drops to Premium, it will have access to everything I bought when I purchased those editions. It will not have access to Incarnates or AE or IOs. Because all of those were released as part of the free Issues the game puts out. Issues 19, 14, and 9, respectively. The only one of those that corresponds with a release of any kind of box release is of course Issue 14 and the AE edition.

The folks with a complaint about the AE edition do have some argument for their side. It just is not a very good one. The box does specifically say you get access to the AE system with the purchase of the box. But you also got access to the AE system if the only edition of the game you ever purchased was the original CoH box. Buying the AE edition was not a requirement for using AE in any way, shape, or form. I am pretty sure that is why they also gave you a free booster with it. I know that I would not have purchased it without that tossed in. So the only way you "purchased the AE system" makes sense is in the same way you "purchase" access to the game itself, as a subscriber.

Shadowe, Issue 14 and the AE edition were released on April 8, 2009. Well over 2 years ago. I have never heard of an American equivalent.

And it doesn't help at all with Infection. My Tanker, simply put, cannot go into melee with the Avatar because of it, since if he does, he will die.
So he dies. So what. My only 50 is my main and I don't worry about dying. I go hit the bloody monster. That is my job. If I don't want to do that, I go play a blaster or something. And I am running Inv/SS, with a total of 20% Confuse resistance, which is nothing against what the AOH puts out. The four times I have ran the UG so far, I have experienced:
    1. The AOH dropped like a weak Boss. This was on a full league PUG of people that had never ran it before. We got the Tour Guide badge, despite not knowing what we were doing.
    2. I spent some time confused, but the AOH didn't last long. This was an attempt to pick up some of the badges, with several that had not ran it before. We got Regenerate this and Tour Guide. (Others obviously, I had it already.)
    3. Wasn't confused as much, the AOH fight was about the same. And everybody got MoUG, including people that started the trial with none of the badges. This was the same league as the second run, with some changes in the make up.
    4. Complete failure. The AOH was in the tunnel, I spent the entire time either confused or running back from the hospital. I am pretty sure I was the most experienced person on the league at the trial. And we were lucky to make it past the Lichen War Machine since folks wouldn't listen.

The only time I heard Clarion mentioned was the last run, which is also the only time people talked about loading up on BFs in the hospital. They didn't help much, usually long enough for one hit, then confused and back to the hospital. And it was a frustrating run, because I know it is not that hard to beat the trial, if people pay attention. But sometimes, **** happens. Things go wrong. One of the first BAFs I ran, we failed at the prisoner escape, and not because we were inexperienced.

I would think you would need a balance of ATs, but the powersets would not be that important. The synergies between the ATs and powersets in the game can make pretty much any combination work if you have enough together. The most important part would be the skilled/attentive players, and I think the attentive part is what is really needed. Someone less skilled can make a good contribution if he is willing to pay attention to the leaders and do what he is told. And he will become more skilled in the bargain.

What she said. And remember, all that time is going to be taken away from working on new content. And not just coders. You would need new animations, new powers, new designs for new mobs, new missions, etc. All so that when we get to level 50, we can still fight Hellions and Skulls.

I don't think whoever responded to you is right. I was exploring First Ward and the Seed spawned, but the zone was pretty empty, to I was just hitting the seedlings solo. Someone else asked me to team, then they managed to get a total of 9 people together. None of us had a clear idea of what was required for the badge, we just concentrated on keeping down the regen and defense seedlings, while a couple people pecked away at the Seed. Then suddenly all the seedlings disappeared, we piled on the Seed and we all ended up with the badge. And we all picked up the Full Spectrum badge at the same time.

If our league of 9 people who basically fumbled through it managed to get the badge, but your group that knew what was going on didn't, something is screwed up.
