  1. RV monitors sounds better to me.

Unless they're introducing a dairy herd in Croatoa and it's a milk monitor badge.

EDIT: RV sounds better partly because I'd go more for a badge designed that both sides can use or 2 badges (like commuter/pilot) to show CoH/CoV versions of 1 job type.

Just make one called "Defiant", and the zombies will run a mile

Go GG - make that alt.. you know you want to... it won't hurt... it won't mean you love GG any less... you could even make a villain... ooh - redside fun! Go on... do it.. do it...

  3. The LR propaganda spouting monitors in GV?

Given their humour I'd have thought the devs would come up with a witty brainwashed-type badge for that, if that could even count as a day job...

Or are there other monitors that are slipping my memory (not too hot on GV tbh)?
  4. Sounds like they're just being cautious with the rewards.

No mission completion xp is fine, if you consider that if the system works well (and doesn't appear to be abused) then the devs could add mission completion xp (whether full or a portion of usual xp). Getting rewards that we hadn't got before would make most people happier - 'yay - they've buffed MA'.

On the other hand if they allowed MA full (or a goodly amount of) xp mission bonus at launch and then found it was somehow being abused they wouldn't be able to reduce/remove the reward without lots of weeping and wailing and gnashing of teeth amid the cries of 'Doooom - they've nerfed MA'.

Similar story with the other rewards/behaviours.

Sure that previously released info stated that dev's choice would be awarded full rewards - can't spot mention of this in the linked post. Wonder if that's still on.
  5. Never seen the show, but pretty sure that this was mentioned in comic and hero/villain culture board several months back when it was about to 1st air.

Chuck was mentioned there as well - virtually every episode of season one had a in-store display of CoX boxes.
  6. [ QUOTE ]
Most are fairly easy to work out, E.g. Mender, although I havn't the foggiest where Monitor Duty would be!

    [/ QUOTE ]
Well the picture looks to be a chair in front of a bank of monitors (similar to RL CCTV monitoring rooms)... that give any clues?

I don't think it is this, but seeing the badge one of the 1st thoughts was space mission control type rooms.. maybe the badge is predesigned for when the space zone finally arrives?
  7. 17:38 by my watch and I can't see any of you on yet, other than EndNewt... Delayed or Postponed?
  8. Darn - that's half my Sunday gone moving all my characters just to log out...

    Thanks for posting this, Praf.
  9. And the meeting time today would be??
  10. [ QUOTE ]
Why do people insist on asking the same questions over and over?

    [/ QUOTE ]
I'm sure you've asked that same question before...
  11. [ QUOTE ]
Well is it being considered by the devs?

    [/ QUOTE ]
Hopefully not. They've said no many a time in the past and the reasoning against a cap-rise trumps the reasoning for - or it does as long as the devs come up with things for 50s to do. There are much better ways to expand characters without raising the level cap.

    [ QUOTE ]
Are they thinking of increasing the lvl cap to 60-70?

    [/ QUOTE ]
Gawd - I hope not. See above.

    [ QUOTE ]
Players are getting bored (I hear it alot in the game) and want more powers more diversity and more balance between AT's etc.

    [/ QUOTE ]
I also hear lots of players in the game say:

    * don't click the glowies in the CoH respec
    * get him in the water!
    * Don't eat yellow snow.

You'll no doubt know that, whilst not always bad advice, there's often no real reasoning behind what players say. Treat the views of players in game as you would co-workers (or the rest of the class if you're still at school): Sometimes they may be right but maybe not significantly more than your average beagle. Generally it's safer to treat them as well-intentioned imbeciles better for amusement value than for facts.

    [ QUOTE ]
The lvl cap being increased would help improve the game, thats my advice =)

    [/ QUOTE ]
Ah - I've just identified another advisor of beagle-like ability.
  12. So the competition for comedy post of the year is really hotting up as we head towards the November nominations...

Can I counter propose that as merits are awarded for arcs and CoV has so many arcs that are smaller (and more interesting/better written) than the CoH arcs that there is indeed an imbalance between CoH and CoV.

    Devs!
    * Rewrite CoH arcs in smaller chunks and (with what everybody will recognise as) better quality writing!
    * Change the CoV SF/trial merit timer to 5 minuites

Do this or the game is soooo dooooooomed that I'm off to the CO US server merge where I can get 20 teams within 4 picoseconds of logging on.
  13. [ QUOTE ]
because of GW i'm used to evade enemy's higher then my own lvl

    [/ QUOTE ]
Well this ain't GW and a death race ain't even normal CoX play.. but you'll find that evading enemies higher than yourself (i.e. virtually every enemy) is the way to go in a death race.

In fact, I'd say that it being a challenge of pathfinding and evasion is why powers like PFF and teleport are usually banned.

    [ QUOTE ]
there is one disadvantage, i have no idea where to go since the only high lvl i have is a hero.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Which could be a good point if the route is going to grandville, it could easily leave those unfamiliar with the high CoV zones deciding not to enter as they'd be at a disadvantage.
  14. [ QUOTE ]
there are enough monsters that can kill a lvl 1 with one shot, and killed racers would make the race rather a silly one.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Errrr... that's kinda the point of a death race! Otherwise you may as well make it a race for uber-buffed lvl 50s and save yourself a bit of time.

You should try a deathrace sorudo - a mixture of skill and luck that tests your appreciation of both aggro distances and expletives!
  15. [ QUOTE ]
Hey Ppl. sorry i had to storm right off like tht, i had a call n had to bomb down to the hospital .

    [/ QUOTE ]
    Hope everything's ok there, Newt...

    [ QUOTE ]
ill look to catch up during the week ready for next sunday-whats ur average lvls?

    [/ QUOTE ]
I'd like to know this as well... managed to do Citadel tonight, but only just dinged 29 at the end...

mind you, just been invited to Hess... may try that to level up....
  16. I'd love a little more variety in missions and could imagine a mighty Nemesis, steampunk train.

    But...

I can't help feel that if Nem was building a mobile weapon or base then he's seriously lost his edge if he's making it restricted to having to move on preexisting tracks!

OMG! Nemesis is coming to destroy the city - what can we do- we're doomed!
Don't worry, Captain Fat Controller will switch the points and save the day!

Now if it swapped from a train to a giant zeppelin or something...

Actually I suppose Nemesis might create a base/weapon that needs traintracks if it's a typical case of misdirection... but such obvious misdirection must be a bluff... though he'd anticipate us seeing it as a bluff so maybe it's a double bluff... but he'd have........

Yikes! Maybe a train could work for Nem.

Had a PB on the team last night. PB left after a while. Couple of hours later and we're still getting Void and Quantum Spawns. It's like the Kheld with team flag gets set and just never gets unset.

    [/ QUOTE ]

This is a long running bug that's been with us since I3. If ANY member of a team has teamed with a Kheld in their current play session, any team they're on is likely to get quants, voids and cysts. You have to relog to clear the flag.

    [/ QUOTE ]

That's a harmless bug - it just makes it seem like the Voids don't have instant info on you and your Kheldian pals - they just know that one was seen with you recently, so they're following you looking for a lead

    [/ QUOTE ]
Yup - I thought that was WAI rather than a bug!
  18. [ QUOTE ]
I don't mind the 30 second wait for logging out, but I would like to see the "press any key to cancel" thing adjusted a bit so you can alt-tab while you're waiting.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Assuming you're on a recent MS windows...
    1. Bring up the quit window (the one with 2 buttons, something like: quit to login & quit to desktop)
    2. Press and hold the windows/start menu key
    3. Click the quit to login (or whatever the exact wording is..)
    4. Release the windows/start menu key

Should get the windows start menu and task bar appear whilst the countdown merrily continues... so click the application you want to switch to and be doing other things whilst the 30-second timer counts down.
  19. Strikes me as an ok start to a set - change some of the immobs to holds (as why would freezing a mob in time immob them but leave them free to attack - that's not exactly frozen in time).

I'd also maybe look at having some sort of time-based effects attached to the attacks... maybe slight slows/-recharge on the enemy. Or even, at the risk of treading on hasten/kinetics toes, a positive time-based buff. These would have to be minor side effects though, rather than cherry picking bits of other sets/pools.

My biggest issue may actually be the opening line of the OP:
    [ QUOTE ]
I know this has prob been suggested before, but it's such a original idea.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Really not sure how something can be an original idea when it has probably been suggested before...

    [ QUOTE ]
    3: Fear Past
Make your enemies fear and regret their past decisions. A small AoE with Minor DMG and a chance for Immobilize.
AoE, Minor DMG, Chance for Immobilize

    [/ QUOTE ]
Just love the idea of my enemies frozen into inaction thinking Damn I forgot to cancel the milk before trying to take over the world.

The power is called Fear past - the description says it makes enemies fear and regret... so where the heck is the fear element? It has damage and a small chance to immob... power effects and name/description don't gel.

    [ QUOTE ]
    9: Summon Mender
Summon a Ouroboros Mender to assist your cause. This Mender has 3 attacks: Time Blast, Time Portal, and Fear Past.
    Summon Pet

    [/ QUOTE ]
Kinda like the idea of a mender coming - makes about as much sense as any other single-model/entity. At least the menders are already ingame and involved with temporal-editing shenanigans.
  20. Sadly I was reminded last night of a couple of family commitments coming up and so can't make it today (12th Oct) or in 2 weeks time (26th Oct). Darn problem with weekends - families seem to organise things then knowing that everyone 'should' be free...

Sorry about the short notice for today. Good luck with Citadel and let me know how you all get on (so I can try to catch up)!

    [ QUOTE ]

JD - if we have room, you are more then welcome......but as its a TF, u ned to comit for the couple of hours that it will take

    [/ QUOTE ]
Hmmmm.. not sure that the abbreviation JD is a good idea when there's me, Jumping_Diddler and JDBarker all involved in the thread!

In fact, Abigail, it'd probably help simplify things if you could change your name to include JD...
  21. Judgement_Dave

    Why, oh why?

    [ QUOTE ]
The green eyed monster is a nasty thing.

    [/ QUOTE ]
But luckily get a GA tank with 1.8 trillion INF spent on it and it can be safely taunted at range.

To the OP: Maybe, just maybe, you think you need x million INF to get a good build because you've been reading your own 'how to get a good build on the cheap' guides and it's as factual as your previous guides are.
  22. Careful now - we don't do optimistic, "ain't this game great" threads at weekends. DO you still have time to edit the OP into a doom post?

Big gratz on your 50, and yeah - the game's fun.

Whether we're constantly moaning or fanbois we still post... which means we still have active accounts... which means that there must be something in the game that we still like.

Punchy Justice - hip hip hooray!
  23. Both you & FG take care and have fun.

Always a shame to see a long-timer leave. Be sure to keep an eye out next year and hopefully we'll see you pop back sometime after I14...
