I will do what I have always done, when I have the star - alternate the missions so we all get a turn.

    [/ QUOTE ]
What I've usually tried to do in the past. I don't mind not doing my own arcs in others' teams, but I find that I'll usually move on fairly quickly if it becomes apparent that the leader is only ever doing their own arcs even when there's no apparent reason other than selfishness to do so!

    Eden Trial: 2

    [/ QUOTE ]
    Say what???!!!

I know that there's a fast Eden. I've never done it that way. I've done Eden a few times, and I'm pretty sure that the fastest time was about 90minutes and the slowest was completed with about 90seconds left on the clock...

For none-specialist teams 2 merits seems insulting, though for specialist teams (doing it in about 4 picoseconds iirc) it's maybe about right.

Heck it's less than Katie TF - where even hastily thrown together PuGs that really seem to strugglecan usually complete with 60 to 75 minutes or so...

Maybe it's a shame that the merit reward doesn't contain an extra variable portion that's proportional to the time spent upon the task (e.g. 1 merit per hour). This way at least the hastily thrown together PuG that struggles but keeps at it can still get a reasonable reward for their long slog.

    Multi - Builds

    [ QUOTE ]
it's an over-hyped pointless addition to me, my build is great, I don't need to change it.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Different ATs/builds/powersets have very different solo/team/PvP capabilities.

It's great that your build doesn't need changing.

I'm guessing that you aren't a team build defender (looking at empaths especially) who occasionally wants to solo. Or someone who'd like to do some occasional PvP but knows that the build they have (and are happy with) for PvE would be effectively gimped in PvP. Or any of the other characters who will benefit from the dual build system being implemented.

I have characters who I don't think will use dual build. I have others for which this is a much needed godsend.

BTW in guildwars: whilst in an instance you are stuck with only 8 powers out of the many you may know. Ease of power swapping (between instances) and saving/loading many multiple builds is pretty much a neccesity. In CoX you always have all powers you know equipped/accessible.
  3. Thanks all! Had a darn fine cakeday... and for the 1st time in 15 years Mrs JD actually baked me a b-day cake. Turned out full of delicious chocolatey goodness

Though she did show me the 1st cake attempt and it did look slightly like a fire blaster had seen a cake mix and gone aim+BU+everything-bar-the-kitchen-sink. So burnt, but I'm sure I'll still eat it if it's a tenth as nice as the winning cake

And as a bonus present I actually got Mrs JD to play CoH for a while with me...

From the link in the OP and the reason for me mentioning it:

    [/ QUOTE ]
    Hands up - I admit I'm a noob.

I foolishly assumed that the OP link was to GR hinting at the 2nd trigger and so from stupid, incorrect assumptions continued to make a complete [expletive deleted] of myself.

A night of pre-birthday celebratory ciders with work collegues probably also helped me attain this state of noobness...

My apologies. You were quite right and I was quite wrong to go anywhere near forums last night...
  5. [ QUOTE ]
Oh I see testing and sharing what we find isn't the way to figure it out.

    [/ QUOTE ]
It is - but it's not neccesarily a good idea to post every time an invasion follows a fairly common event. We'd end up with more noise than signal.

Within a week we'd have reports of people who saw an invasion as soon as they'd bought a purple IO, defeated GM 'x', completed TF 'y', completed arc 'z', etc etc

Now reporting invasions following rare events or multiple observations of them following a more common event may be far more valuable in locating the trigger.

So if you'd seen invasions start immediately after claiming the halloween costume slot on several occasions then it'd be well worth mentioning as a possible trigger. Mentioning it after it's happened once.. not so worth mentioning.

    Hami Raid

    [ QUOTE ]
Is there a minimum level required? I have a low 20's tank and a mid 20's scrapper that would be up for a fight.

Either date should be OK, although during the day, not the evenings.

    [/ QUOTE ]
The zone that Hami is in has a minimum level of 45 (think it's still 45 anyway...) - so sorry but the lowbies can't go.
  7. [ QUOTE ]
I just traded in some Halloween salvage on heroes and straight away zombie attacks sprung up in Faultline and Mercy.

    [/ QUOTE ]
    WoW!

And at 12:26 (according to the forums). That's at about the same time that I was at work dealing with users having a problem with using a specific livelink workflow...

Do you think that that's related?

    Do you?

    No...

    ...I didn't either.

    Hami Raid

    [ QUOTE ]
    Thats what i ment

    [/ QUOTE ]
That's what I thought... but it still strikes me as being 99.99% likely to be an exercise in futility. Why bother self destructing there... you may as well get people to nuke there or even just brawl there.
  9. Judgement_Dave

    Hami Raid

    [ QUOTE ]
If we have a team, at each of his HP markers self detonate, then a second team does the same at the next marker etc, then hopefully we can minimise debt etc by having everyone in the cytoplasm who COULD be taken down by the mito spawn, be self destructing to take hami's HP past the spawn marker!

    [/ QUOTE ]
So I'm still not sure if I'm missing something...

Is the idea that we can leap past the spawn points and so never spawn the mitos? e.g. when Hami's at 75.001% health we have a few people self destruct to take him to 74.998% health, missing out the critical point of 75%.

    Is that it?

    Assuming it is:

Ok - I've not read up on Hami for a while (no raids, not much point to raids given the EU desire to raid, so consequently no reason to read up) and so I may be rusty... but...

Surely the trigger isn't the first time that Hami is at 75% health but is the first time Hami drops to 75% or less. So you can't leapfrog the spawn point (unless you leap to a dead Hami - don't think you'd get 3 waves of mito spawns if you took Hami from 75.1% health to zero - now that would be a nuke assualt to see ).

So - have I missed something or could the current SD plan have been dreamt up by General Haig?

btw, assuming I'm reading the 'plan' right, if it was a precise point that had to be hit to spawn mitos (e.g. when Hami is at 75% health) then mitos would rarely spawn. 75% health will be a single figure, most movements to Hami's health will be greater than +/-1 so it mito spawn points would already often be leapfrogged if it were possible to do so. Hard enough even assuming integer values for health/heal/damage...

    Hami Raid

    [ QUOTE ]
Ahhhh so mass suicide instead of mass death

    [/ QUOTE ]
But as you can't be targetted by teammates it makes teleport out impossible...

So most characters are looking at:
    * hosp/base, which may be unwise if the zone limit is a factor - who wants to suicide then get locked out of the zone instance?
    * wakie followed by instant death for using a wakie in the middle of Hami.

    Or am I missing something?

I also roleplay and the city has been sitting under a cloud of inky blackness for two weeks. By now, frankly, the entire city should be panicing, or leaving for places where the sun shines, and all the grass should be dying.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Nah, I lived in Manchester for 4 years. you get used to it.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I do live in Manchester, and we still get less zombies and more sun.

    [/ QUOTE ]
We have Bez and rain to make up for it though...
  12. [ QUOTE ]
And two weeks, I think is fair, but adding extra days because there were some problems in the first two days of 14... not needed.

    [/ QUOTE ]
    Kinda answered that:

I wonder if the devs thought it'd be funny to have the light re-emerging on the morning that dubya's successor is known...

Many a true word said in jest.
  13. [ QUOTE ]
To be honest, if we hang around at GG for three hours, we'll probably see one or two invasions. And, of course, we have ready made teams. I'm just bored with it now.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Being bored of it is slightly different to those stating that it's annoying that invasions happen or that the zombie spawn rate is too high when one hits.

I can understand people who play a fair bit getting bored of it, but the flipside is if it's only done for a week then it's maybe too easy for people to miss if other commitments pop up. As CoX is so casual friendly it'd be a little annoying if many people missed an event as it was kept short for fear of boring the more frequent players!

I've nearly missed the odd event before because circumstances have kept me away for 10 days or so...

I caught one invasion at GG and that seemed to be taken in the RP'ers stride... though having said that it was in the first few days of invasions, so maybe there was still enthusiasm for treating it in character.
  14. [ QUOTE ]
well, IMO it's a bit annoying, just standing somewhere to chat a bit and BANG, everything is ruined.
if the zombies didn't spawn like crazy i wouldn't mind, but having zombies every 3-5 seconds is a bit to much.

    [/ QUOTE ]
    Errr..

The (hopefully nearly) overwhelming hordes of zombies is pretty much in keeping with zombies in movies. So not really 'a bit to much' [sic].

If you want to stand and chat do so under cover - then neither zombies nor rikti invasions will bother you.
  15. [ QUOTE ]
I was given to believe the zombies stopped yesterday sometime, and they seem to be still going.

By now, more or less every non-tree plant in Paragon is dead. The Devouring Earth have probably lost a third of their number.

    When's it due to stop?

    [/ QUOTE ]
Ok they're extended it a couple of days, but iirc when an event is announced to finish on Sunday/Monday it's still turned off on Tuesday morning maintenance as often as not.

So I was never expecting it to have finished by tonight...

The raptor only last for 2 hours blue side.

    [/ QUOTE ]

That's two hours of actual usage. My level 44 Scrapper with no travel powers still has 10 minutes on that and 11 on the jump pack.

Now, if you spend your time hovering a lot, or leave the pack turned on when you're not actually moving, sure, 2 hours isn't much, but in practice, if you're a little conservative, it's ages of time.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Used sparingly it is ages - I reckon it's just enough to last until 5min into any of the SSTFs and then I'm back to cursing both superspeed and CoV having renewable temp travel powers.

CoX Delux: VIP badge, cape, Pretige power slide
    CoV Collectors: Arachnos logo, cape

Have Cryptic employed more ex-CoX developers or does the list of 'members' only contain a single name?

    CoX On The Mac

Pretty sure that you aren't imagining things... this was the announcement thread.
  22. Been some classics already...

I also liked the US thread A Demand that Devs Address A Problem. Not been able to find the original, but red tomax has the original post quoted in a reply by BaBs here

And I'd feel bad if I do mention 2 threads that I started, but bad if I don't... these have managed to crack me up, often when people completely fail to see them as tongue-in-cheek and post seriously. Humour transplants really ought to be available on the NHS (and yes - I guess that I'd have to have one).

Is the CoX General Discussion Forum dying??

    A missed opportunity?

Note that both of these were created after days/weeks of multiple doom mongering threads as a concious attempt to divert energy to something a bit more lighthearted and a longstanding desire to take the mickey out of complete eejits.

I've considered a similar thread recently given the recent weekend postings, but I think that any tongue-in-cheek thread would probably just get overrun by the serious nutters. No need to make an extra lock and delete task for GR come Monday morning...

Maybe you should change your name to "UniquePhantom"

    [/ QUOTE ]
I hope not, because then I'd be scared that there is actually some masterplan to his madness...

Illusion Master The Phantoms Unique Phantom

...obviously changing names to spell I'M T' PUPIL OF INSANITY or somesuch... The scary thing about this would mean many more name changes and (inevitably) many, many, many more guides. I don't know if I can take that.
  24. Didn't this start last year when there wasn't a CoV birthday badge (as there had been the year before). Sort of ties in to them treating CoH and CoV as one game...

Would have thought it'd get a mention on the website though - a few minutes copy writing and a couple of kb of disk ain't a lot...
