Indeed. I supported this game across multiple accounts for years. At times, I gave more than my share of $15 a month.

The Paragon Rewards program doesn't even count that, not that I'd expect it to. But really, with the amount of cash some players have sunk into the game over the years, they should be getting more.

At the very least, what I coughed up should grant me a direct line to Positron's phone to regularly call him at home at 3:00am and nag him about Tankers.

  2. Setting aside the machinations of the marketing team, there's no good reason this can't be out on the the 28th of this month.

Even if a week is not long enough to assess the stability of the current patch, the previous one was stable, and as far as we know, had no show stopping issues. I don't see why they can't roll that out.

I'm not going to weigh in on when I think it will be released, but the 28th is when I think it should be released.

    SERIOUSLY?

    That is a brutal limitation.
Is that why hips are so messed up in the default run cycle?
And why you get some damn strange deformation between the legs some times?

Haven't they? In Faultline, Tremblor is 5'10" and wears a t-shirt under his jacket. In the RWZ arcs and in the SSA, he's about 6'5" and has what I think is the Justice top in browns under the jacket.

Fusionette is also also taller in the RWZ and has Vanguard armor bits added to her costume. I didn't notice if they used the same model in the SSA, I had my pets deal with her while my attention was elsewhere, but they should have been using the same model as the RWZ.

Or into Manticore's mind. He begins having hallucinations of her. Hearing her voice. We have to shut him down before he goes more bonkers. There's the third SSA if we get that far.

  6. EXTRA SPOILERY SPOILERS

Also, if Psyche isn't returned to life by the end of this arc, this makes Penelope Yin's antics at the beginning of the next SSA make her a total d-bag, IMO.

If you've played the leak on beta, you know what I'm talking about.

That goes against everything this game presents about powers. When you faceplant, toggles, clicks, even auto powers, stop working.

More to the point, I would be iffy on killing her just due to the fact she's connected to every mind in Paragon. The psychic backlash her mind creates in her deaththrows would be liable to kill them all anyways. I would be even more likely to attempt to subdue her.

  8. 1. Stunning Shot.
    2. Ice Arrow.
    3. EMP Arrow.
    4. Poison Gas Arrow
    5. Manual choke hold to knock her out.
    6. Using his hacked teleporter to send her out of range of both Paragon and the artifact overpowering her.
    7. All of the above.

I can think of six things to do in that situation besides running her through with an arrow, and I don't have over 25 years experience being a superhero and dealing with psychics.

  9. The Hip slider does not work how it should.

It should scale the whole "brief area" but it doesn't.

Currently, it just adjusts 'leg spacing'. So you can scale it down and it'll look OK in a front view, but from the side you'll a have a massive butt in proportion.

In fact, you really have very little control over butt size. Much like arm and leg thickness, it's governed by the overall Physique slider. So trying to adjust for it results in a freakishly proportioned monstrosity with a massive trunk, spindly arms and legs and even tinier hands and feet.

It's bad enough the base male model has wonky proportions to start with. Tiny hands and feet, big thunder thighs, waist much smaller in profile, weird chest. Yes, I know it's not supposed to be 'realistic.' Super heroic proportions are one thing, but our base model is pretty Liefeldian.

  10. After the initial rush of players running Dark Astoria for story content, they'll quickly figure out that the pace of the Incarnate progression is so slow compared to trials they'd be stupid to to run DA arcs more than once.

The vast majority will go right back to trials, and the people on servers with low populations or who play at odd times preventing them from running trials, will be forced to run DA until they become frustrated with the lack of progress and just give up on Incarnates or move to another server to run trials.

As I see it, DA really serves no one at the current rate of progression and will be mostly empty three-four months after launch, except maybe for people using it as a trial staging area.

Going back to the description, that's working as intended.

If you don't like an AT that faceplants all the time and can't solo well, don't play a Blaster. If you don't find that fun, play another AT, like a Scrapper or a Brute.

Just as if you don't think being a low damage decoy is fun, don't play a Tanker, play a Scrapper or a Brute.

And Blasters DON'T have bad survivability. They have less survivability than other ATs, but they're tougher than Red Wisps buff pets, and that's enough for them to spam Fire Ball on teams, and that's all they're supposed to do according to the old description. They're not supposed to solo well or even survive, remember?

In comparison to the other Archetypes, the Blaster is by far the most damaging to the enemy. But the Blaster is quite fragile; this Archetype has relatively few hit points.

Blaster heroes must be on their guard before getting into combat; while their immense power can overcome most foes, alone they are quite vulnerable. The Blaster can turn the tide of a conflict, but they need their friends to help them succeed.
Clearly, Blasters are supposed to faceplant.

If Blasters need more damage to be competitive on teams, that's fine. They're supposed to be the most damaging. I don't dispute that

But to die less? To solo better? No. They're supposed to be fragile and they're supposed to need others to succeed. The description lays it out plainly. They don't need buffing if their survival is bad because it's supposed to be.

Just like Tankers are supposed to have crap melee damage, right? So if Blaster damage is going to be increased, they need to take a hit to survivability so they don't start soloing well.

I can imagine some people want Blasters to be less of the Glass Cannon the devs intended it to be. And that's fine. They can get it as soon as Tankers don't have to be the Stone Wall.

And in case you didn't pick up on it, I'm being ironic.

YMMV, but I'm of the opinion that happened. The devs sold out the superhero genre and play it down in a lot of ways. Now, IMO, the game is a fairly generic "modern/urban fantasy" that only claims to be about superheroes on the box.

I can point out dozens of ways the mechanics and design of the game betray important superhero tropes in favor of ones that seem to me better suited to a dungeon hack n' slash or fantasy RPG setting.

  16. There are a lot of benefits for a Double XP weekend that should not be discounted. It's a time where people make a point to show up in game, get together and have a lot of fun.

Especially now with Freedom, it makes a great time for new players to try the game with the lure of being able to quickly get in and level up.

2XP is a morale booster. A pep rally for the game, if you will.

That being said, there are problems presented with Windfall and and XP Boosters. Those are something the devs should look into, because we should keep having 2XP weekends.

  19. Personally, I've always loved that piece of RWZ music, especially the part starting at 0:28 in that video.

Additional, I had an AE arc from a Malta contact who at one point hires you to retrieve a Zeus Titan designated C00-P XLR when it is stolen by a group of joyriding teenagers.

  20. They should just do the same thing with Statesman as they did with Silver Agent in Astro City.

    *spoilers*

Silver Agent was their finest hero, the one everyone looked up to, always did what was right.

Then in 1973 he was put on trial for the cold blooded murder of a foreign head of state who was also an alleged super villain. There was video of the assassination, but he always proclaimed his innocence.

He was found guilty, and the government pushed hard for the death penalty to send a message to the hero community. While he was in his cell waiting for execution, he disappeared and then reappeared a few seconds later. Not long after they took him to the chair and the execution was carried out. After his death, of course they find out that all the evidence was faked, and he was railroaded by the very man he was supposed to have murdered.

However, while the Silver Agent was in his cell, a group from the future with time travel technology took him to their time so he could help them fight off a massive invasion. He has many more adventures, travels through time and appears after his death in 1973 to save the day many more times. But he knows that he'll have to go back to 1973 eventually to face his death, which he does willingly, appearing back in the cell awaiting execution seconds after he left.

In CoH, time travel isn't that unusual. There's nothing to say what happens to Statesman between the time he storms off from his daughter's funeral and when he arrives at the ruins to confront Darrin Wade. Heck, if he knew what he was walking into, it would make the whole scene more powerful, instead of him blundering into an amateurish trap.

It makes no sense to me that someone can solo, for example, the ITF - and I can too on my tank, until Romy - just can't do enough dps to take him down. This screams to me "misbalance!"
That's because there's a double standard built into the game. Fragile ATs are allowed to build up layers of defenses to increase their survivability greatly, but there are comparably fewer ways (and they tend not to be worth it) for the the least fragile AT (Tanker) to increase its damage output to a level sufficient enough to perform such feats.

    But a few points:

-A few combos of Tankers can solo a few of the weaker AVs with IOs and Bruising.

-Incarnate Tankers can solo more of the AVs and even a few GMs, if you consider throwing your lore pets at it "soloing".

That being said: If you're building for extreme performance, Tankers are a poor platform to build from. You'll quickly hit the damage cap for them and they'll still do less damage than a comparable Brute or Scrapper. Meanwhile, you can keep layering more and more defenses on a Brute to the point they can go up against AVs and GMs with little fear, and they'll retain superior damage to a Tanker. Tankers are a dead end; a throwback to a time before even Blasters could softcap their defenses.

That's somewhat defensible. This ritual seems very obscure. Even the CoT, the go-to guys for all things magic, don't even really have a complete record of it.

What's less defensible is using your own blood if you're a magic type who should know better. Or using your own blood if you happen to be a robot. Or a mutant with gasoline for blood. Or a ghost yourself.

This is a clear cut case of "But Thou Must" and having to hold the idiot ball to advance the plot.
