  1. Warface ... a bit late

It has been a while, but I haven't forgotten, and picked back up where I left off.

    Double What?

No one knows my identity :P

And I do apologize for those who were wandering the 'D' last night when I was not there. Personal things tied me up and I was unable to log in. But as was mentioned, I will post a note when I am in the D each night and when I eventually leave. I do hope to be there tonight, possibly sooner than normal since it is a weekend, I'll know more in two or three hours if my daughter falls asleep on time

If there's enough collective of you I may be convinced to try a Sunday if I can fit a time at some point

    Sketch File

I wanted to try something a little different while working on some other things. Kind of an inspirational floodgate to help get free-sketch-thinking moving and help work the pencils a little bit.

While I do know this will be falling onto awkward times for some, its the only thing I can do with the work schedule I have currently and besides, otherwise the location is packed the rest of the day.

So what am I rambling about? Free Sketches, basically. I will try and be in Pocket D [Virtue] at some point every night at the Hero-side Bar, second floor nearest War Witch at 2est/1cst/12mtt/11pst for about an hour or two, sometimes longer if I can find something to entertain me in Pocket D that long. Bring a character that you'd like to see sketched out and yours might be one of the ones I jot down on paper. Depending on who and how many show up will reflect on time and final results.

Essentially this is a mutual exchange of time, effort and patience. You have to be willing to come to the D for the potential exchange of some art One of the fun catches [IMO] about this will be that I will not be telling anyone whether I do or do not sketch them, you'll have to wait till the next day (or possibly that same night) to find out if [your character] has been put onto paper. This will transversely mean you will not know which character in the D is me (unless you show up more than one night and start Sherlock Holmes-ing me out).

I chose the D since its easily accessible by anyone at any level, is threat-free, and quiet (less for me anyway, I run without the game sounds on :P ), and Virtue is my home server; so in the case you have a character on another server you'd like to have the possibility of being worked on, you can re-create them to an extent and bring them over that way in order to join in on this.

If you feel you're up for it, I'll make a statement each night that I'm able to do this by replying to this thread when I'm entering the D, and when I leave. When you reach the bar, feel free to plant yourself anywhere within 20ft of the "Dancing Bar Tender" and ask him, or anyone that may be behind the counter, for "A pitcher of the finest graphite, hold the mayo." I'll keep an eye out for the line (it should be easy to spot that way ).

Disclaimer: I'm not promising full finished work, and I'm not promising everyone will get sketched that shows.

    Been Missing...

I've been pretty much AWOL for about four months from here now and I'm sure there are a few of you out there that had been waiting on something from four months ago that I was unable to complete at the time.

    Life Happens

I've got an itch to finish what I started and go back to doing something I enjoyed but have otherwise been incapable of finding time for, so to kick things back off I present to you:

    Jon "Scry" Burhmingham

A bit of a kick-off/warm-up. Started fiddling with a pencil in my pad and eventually started outlining the character and came up with the story as I worked on it. About an hour between the sketch and the story [plus another 15 minutes to create him in CoX (SS/DA Tank for any who didn't catch that)], enjoy.
  6. Anybody happen to notice a pattern to how these get sent out at all? I only really get these e-mails on one or two toons and no others. And its not that I only log into two toons, I actually log into five or six on a regular basis, but really only get the e-mails on one, sometimes two.
  7. Where'd you manage to find that list?
  8. "What's a nice girl like you doing in a place like this?"
    "What?"
    "How can I help you?"
  9. Sounds like you're looking for something more along the "Timm" style (Bruce Timm). Which I have to agree with another that's mentioned it already. Take a study into Anatomy or pick up a few "atlas of anatomy" style books at a local store if possible [Borders/Barnes&Noble I do know of depending if one is in your area, they often a variant of those books on sale/clearance for $5-$10) and get a general feel for where everything belongs. From there you can hash out the general shapes and connect the dots to a "simple" look.

that's a cool style kinda looks watercolor-ish. heh, first two things i thought after i remember what desc I wrote.. hey.. no storm cloud or field of grass, but then i saw yer comment on DA. so thats cool, totally understandable and yer right, the scene is well dune enough with the was you did it. I love the expression you have for her face, shows her somberness. Kudos to that.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Aack, I forgot to double the comment on here as well, ah well, sees some people noticed!

I like the technique. Where'd you learn this digital speed painting?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Heri herself I used a comic-style colour process and mixed in other parts of the speed process. The background was based on working with what I've picked up out of the ImagineFX Magazine out of England along with a few other artists like Levente
  12. I know it's been a while, but I was recently caught in Hericane Season.

Picked up some insight on how Digital Speed Painting works and used it here.
  13. Okay, I may have gotten a little carried away with this one, but after the idea got into my head I couldn't help but push it all the way to the end.

    Meet Lt. Dimitrius Jones

He even comes with a spiffy Bio:

Lt. Dimitrius Jones, Air Force 2nd Battalion "Casket Wolves"

Lt. Jones--or "D" ['Dee'] as his friends call him--was born without any special powers, nor extraordinary traits or special skills that he could scribble onto a resume. He spent his mid teens working in grease stained burger joints as he stumbled through high school on an average grade. He never considered his circumstances of his early life to be terrible by any means; he may have lived in a less than respectable part of town growing up, didn't have an exorbitant lifestyle, and for a long time was never even aware of what a T.V. was until out of elementary school when a friend showed him what a "VHS" was and spent three days watching videos until passing out from excitement long before exhaustion was going to catch up with him.

By the time he graduated high school however, D's life took a spiraling drag into oblivion when his parent's divorced, his father "accidentally" fell 35 stories off a cross beam during the construction of a Scraper in Steel, and his mother over dosing herself on methamphetamines. D enlisted himself into the Air Force hoping the strenous training and military drive could help him run from his past.

Three weeks into basic training he was drafted into an underground project called "Flight Risk", trainees in various government facilities being given the oppurtunity to "enhance" themselves. Jones was injected with a nanite that created a genetic alteration to polarize gravitational fiels through his body generating the ability to fly.

Jones was released back into training and graduated with honors. Keeping his developing ability a secret for several months until his squadron was sent into the field during the Gulf War. Several planes down and many men lost, Dimitrius was quickly cascading into a growing problem; in particular with the tail of his fighter lighting up in a pillar of flame. Ejection seat failing, Dimitrius popped the hatch and free floated into the air as his jet screamed to an explosive end on the ground thousands of feet below.

No parachute, no chance, and the oxygen mask strapped to his helmet would only last for so long. Adrenaline kicked in, the nanites worked a little overtime and there was a new bird in the air.

In the following months Jones was promoted to Lieutenant, decorated a couple times over and assisting in the lead of a squadron that would later become known as the "Casket Wolves". The only team anyone ever joked about that should have brought the boxes for their enemies, by the time they left the battle field their swift pack formatted system left nothing but a stew of opposing forces defeated. Sometimes a bit too merciless however there weren't many battalions the Air Force enlisted into combat nearly as often.

Jones as since turned down two promotions and a pay raise in exchange for his current flight suit called the P-51, modeled after the Mustang Fighters from WWII
  14. I haven't forgotten about you all! Real Life has gotten really hectic in the last few days, I've been up 24/4 with minimal sleep and not even to do things that I've really chosen to stay up for. In all the last week approx has been insane. Just wanted to let everyone know I'dnot forgotten :0)
  15. What difference does it make? There's only two colors in the whole game anyway:

Grey, and Purple. And technically the purple is just a lightened shade on the purple spectrum.
  16. I wonder if I should mention an error on my part about Kai's piece.

The Original v2.0 is actually a male design. I was going off Kai's Brief strictly from memory and forgot the fact that it was female so I have a 33% done product for a male Kai. When I double checked the Brief Saturday night I went "...oh $%^&*" And double worked out the revise into female form. A friend of mine has a dual blader and had requested I do one of his Main so the Male Kai will get adjusted accordingly. Once it's done though I'll swing it back in here so everyone can see would almost was

Thank You, I appreciate the well received comments

  19. Okay, guess what? Sunday is rolling around and I finally have a "day off". I've been (as I ... think I stated at some point) working on a few drawings while at work in between downtime. I -had- a working image for Herricane, Lady J, and Kai; however I've decided that while the one for Herricane was where I wanted it, the ones for LJ and Kai were not. This has resulted in a change that I think everyone's going to be surprised by (to a degree) and will well received (this I know ). On the downside the increased direction of the most recent two images has left me with the decision to currently postpone a color-edition of the images in favour of getting more linework done for the other Brief's. However many of you may very well be satisfied with the B&W version of these just as equally. I will still end up doing a full color version of them but not in the same style as the previous two works (again I'm sure you will all understand why once you see them).

Side Note: Due to how I developed Herricane's, that one will be in color, but it will be the last one for a bit just because it's designed to be in color; I like how it turned out and wish to keep it that way.

Currently I am working on scanning up the three I have right now and printing Blue Lines for two of them to Print back out and Ink, to re-scan, touch up and post that version of them. In the meantime I thought I'd toss this out to everyone. Kai's image has inspired a bit imaginative thought that developed a bit of a "fight scenario" for his image that resulted in its final conception that I figured I'd share as a teaser.

    Teaser:
The elevator hummed down the floors, a figure inside drumming in the air to a beat still threading through her mind. She had been playing with the glow stick tied to a thin string around her neck supplying a tiny stream of light into suspended box she rode in. Other strands of feint light flickering across the elevator doors from the glass panel behind that had a view of the city below; the pulsating radiance that grew as it descended. It was surprising how many raves one could find in the most unconventional locations, she thought to herself, floors counting down.

A thud gave the ceiling a jolt, a twang from the cables that held the machine in the shaft. She looked up, curiosity mounting as two clanks and panel were removed with the quick flow of menacing shadow behind her. She watched it rise across the ‘vator walls. Within a single flash the trench coat that had been draped over her arm was amidst the air, a blade free from her side and nestling comfortably between two ribs of the victim behind her.

As the first body began to slump to the floor a second heartbeat rang in her ears, another passing light across the glass and the realization came that there were two men with her. Her wrist twisted across the handle of the second blade, a twirl in the air and it was hurled into the next victim’s chest with lethal accuracy.

The Lobby was approaching quickly, her hands wrapped across both her weapons and whipped them through the air with a solid fwang; blood spattering across the floor from the cold metal. The elevator dinged. The doors opened.

She peered into the darkness of the floor, the illumination of the street lights and passing cars spreading eerie shadows. A sigh escaped her, she was hoping for more. Stepping out of the elevator to the marble tile a single clack of her boot and the doors shut behind her. A dozen eyes shot through the darkness and locked onto the dying gleam of the stick bouncing over her chest. She could feel the ominous gazes; excitement building.

Amidst the darkness two red orbs lit spreading their flare and extenuating the crevices of a Mech.

The grin on her face spread a little--looks like she was invited to the after party.
