Fact is, there is 150,000 people on this planet, and 9 billion of them play this game. All the best names are taken by now.

I do not think that a measure of casualness should be linked to "Game Knowledge" and "Start Date" as some folks seem to be implying.
There are people who are very new to the game and have lots of level 50s, but clearly are not "Highly Knowledgeable". Some of us have been around a long time and, because of that, have a good amount of knowledge. Yet, we may have fewer prupoles and fewer 50s than someone much newer to the game. Thus, the newer person may be more hard core.
(Average XP gained per day across all toons) / (Average Level of all toons), may be a good way to measure casualness. Of course, AE might bork that forumula. -
I do not belive that casual is not a bianary term. I think "Casualness" can be graded on a scale..
The formula would look something like this:
((Number of hours played / Number of hours teamed) + total rare loot + PVP time
Maybe plug in "number of toons" and "average level" somewhere. Also pi should be in there along with a few other fancy squiggly lines to make it look legit. -

Quote:doooooooommmmmmmmmmm!so been thinking about this for a while now, and realised something wierd...
I like playing through the normal content, doing arcs for contacts, i don't mind joining some friends to farm a mission or to get someones toon up some levels, i quite enjoy playing through ae arcs, i go around hunting for badges, especialy if their for accolades, have an appropriate title for the toon, or are hard to get (don't have a "badging" toon though, i get them on whatever character i'm enjoying playing, or would be most useful to the team for things like "master of" badges), i enjoy teaming, and i enjoy soloing, i like to dabble in the market to make some money, i like to head to the arena to have a match against someone, whether for a competition or just for the challenge, i like to head to the pvp zones and duke it out there or grab the badges/temp powers from the side misisons in the zone, i like to play around in the tailors designing new costumes for toons, or create new toons and try out different powersets and combinations, i like to advance through the low levels and watch a charcter grow and learn how they work, and i like playing at max level to get more ios, merits, or inf to make them better -
*pauses for breath*
i like to get new stuff for free, but understand when things are put into boosters/expansions we have to pay for, i hate finding bugs, but understand how hard it is to keep test for these things and keep them out when the game is undergoing constant changes and upgrades, theres a list of stuff i'd like to see in the game, but i understand that it takes time to get all this stuff in, and some great ideas may be impractical or unbalance the game.
And after stalking through the forums for most of my time in cox it seems everyone has a "lolpvp" or "lolbadges" or "i hate farming" to bear...
So am i the only one who enjoys all the aspects of this game? -
4 rad/sonic defenders would just be plane sick.
Maybe replace one with a FF defender to keep everyone soft capped and reduce the necessity of heals. -
I hate it when I go to click on the scrapper forum and accidently click that stalker forum and see posts about energy melee and ninjitsu and I get all excited...then I realize what happened.
That is all. -
Yeah bro. if you think purples are "unattainable" then you need not ever play any other MMO on the market.
I'm short on teh purples myself, but it keeps me coming back to the game -
People who negative rep are better at the internet than I am and i have such fears of their rep bats.

AR has fire damage and more AOEs. Bean bag and ignite are also nice pluses.
I suspect that Arch would have better single target damage overall.
For a team of Traps corruptors I would go A. mainly becuase of Fire damage. Arch would do fine and have it's strengths as well.
What you pick isn't as important as how you use it. -
Quote:I felt that my AR/Trap/Mace is highly versatile and useful. Lots of AOEs as well. As an added bonus, the build is prety rare.Lets start by saying that i played many games and i usually play something like a hybrid healer(daoc friar, wow druid, ddo battlebard, war disciple of khaine, ...). In this game however i seem to almost like it all. So far i have:
fire/fire/earth tanker 50 only io char, although rather cheap. first time ever i liked a tank, still love it but not much of a support char.
plant/kin/fire troller 50 truely love the looks of plant powers, love my costume on this one love how it plays, hate how people expect me to play
Storm/ice/dark def 50 nice visual, costume and background not so ok, does alot of damage for a defender and i love the triple rains. Is usefull to group to
WS 43 love it, how it can change roles, mostly powerleveled in ae which was not a smart idea
dark/rad 41 def this was my first char. I loved the idea, love my costume and background, love how dark plays, but very unimpressed with damage of rad. I love that it has several aoe but they lack damage.(even more so that a fully slotted ice storm easy outdoes all that i have)
elec/shield/? 35 scrapper this char i like alot, but more for the visual and as some sort of toon i wanne keep to have fun with but not really my main i think. Dont get me wrong i love it but still.
So there you go, i also have several lower level alts ill/rad trol, trap/ar def amongst many others. So far for a quest to find what should be my main has not succeded. Dark/ice def seems like something that could be very nice to, but cant seem to find a good angle to make this char.
Therefor my quest continues and i call upon you all to help me.
What to do, what should be my main.
usually my intrest are:
-versatility
-usefull
-aoe damage(does not have the been the top of all damage, but to low i dont like either)
-can take a beating
More or less in that order. But preferably the char should have a bit of all. For instance a very usefull char but without some damage would not be my kind of thing.
Thanks for any advice to make me settle my mind
Also, dont forget the Villain epics. I belive that that crab would meet all of the criteria youmetion.
But remember, Altism cannot be cured. However, there are treatments available...Lots of treatments. -

I declare this thred epic hijaked -
Keep in mind that many "over powered" builds will not FEEL overpowered until you've leveled them up AND invested signficant sums of money.
But once you do that, the admiration and respect just pours in. -
Quote:Well maybe some endurance heavy builds might decide to throw it in their attack chain. Maybe a Tanker who is end heavy on his primary may use it to help punch-taunt without cost him any end?Now Brawl costs no Endurance and the Origin based inherents (Mutagen, Throwing Knives, etc) got their End reduced to a third of their previous End cost.
So, is Brawl worth six-slotting now, especially for lowbie tanks....?
As someone else said, it certainly isn't gonna hurt the Brutes..
However, Defenders with a no-end brawl AND Vigilance jjust makes them overpowered now. -
Quote:I was refrencing the in game dropdown thingy that has the numbers for the powers. Again, in my little brain, I swear it had said -10% acc before i16. The toon is only like level 6 or something so I didn't have much time in the toon...I guess my memory is flawed if no one else can confirm it.What is it? If you were looking at a build planner (hero builder, mid's, whatever), that information was never worth real money, and if not filled with in-game information or values from City of Data, then it was a guess at best.
Planners used to say aim provided 100% acc. Heh.
Nonetheless, it seems to not be making much difference anyway. This Inv/dark is slowly becoming a main. Looking forward to changing his colors if I can get a chance to log in this week. -
-
Quote:Thanks for the replys. I must have totally misread it or something then. I would have bet a paycheck that it specifically said -10% acc as the secondary affect of the first two attacks. And I have not even looked at any ranged dark attacks. Not sure why/how I had myself convinced of this.Maybe you're thinking of Defender Dark Blast. Most of the set (including the first two powers) does "ToHit -9.375%" for varying durations, according to City of Data.
Dark Melee does "ToHit -5.625%" with most of its attacks.
City of Data hasn't been updated in a while, I think, but that makes it more likely that these are not newly changed values, if you think about it. -
I made a Inv/DMtanker recently, I think he isabout level 6 or 7.
I swear that the two inital attacks in DM said that the secondary affect was a -10% acc. Now, it reads as (something like) -5.25 To-hit.
Can someone else confirm that I'm not dreaming here? I need to know if I should start whining. -
Quote:I think you nailed it. It's kinda like the game was designed around Scrappers, and then other ATs were added later. Sorta makes sense to do it that way though I guess.Scrappers (and Brutes) are currently sitting in the power-building sweet spot - they have a good offensive base and moderate mitigation. IOs provide enough additional survivability to handle as much challenge as it is profitable to handle. They can't solo GMs, yes, but then that's not actually a useful thing to be able to do from a rewards-maximization perspective.
I think that in the distant future, we will look on I16 as the golden age of the Scrapper (and Brute).
This makes the Scrapper(Brute) the all-around best choice in most situations.
I think this may change going forward.
This is not likely to be "news" to the devs....assuming it's true anyway. -
Tankers: Scrappers do waaaay more damage than us AND have comparable defenses!
Brutes: Scrappers are better than us in PvP!
Controllers: Scrappers do more DPS than us!
Corruptors: Scrappers solo better than we do!
Defenders: Scrappers do more damage, have higher defenses AND solo better than we do!
Blasters: /faceplant
Dominators: PToD doesnt affect Scrappers! Were worthless in big fights!
Kheldians: We cant solo AVs like a Scrapper!
Stalkers: I want to Scrap like a Scrapper!
Blasters: SCRA!... /faceplant
What does this tell you? Not trying to be a Scrapper hater or calling for a nerf (Having lots of fun with my latest scrapper.) , but its hard to deny that all other AT boards seem to make a point of comparing themselves to Scrappers Scrapper envy can be seen almost daily in every single AT board. Yet, how often do Scrappers exhibit AT envy?
Granted, some of my over-generalized statements above may be out of date or exaggerated, but nonetheless, just something Ive consistently observed in the boards.
Food for thought. -

Perma Hasten can also be slighly over rated. My main villain has about 10 seconds of Hasten downtime and it's barely even noticable.

Sending some pity out to Recluse. Reviewing the wiki on these guys a bit. Pandoras box gave Cole super human strength, invulnerabilty and magical lighting. Recluse got a hairy neck and 'summon moar banes' as his power.
It's all so very sad. -
