    Hmm. Making a tank for the purpose of farming is sort of the same logic as making a scrapper for the purpose of tanking.

    It can be done. But keep in mind that a tank built for farming is not a tank built for tanking.

    But if farming is your #1 purpose then you should pick the right tool for the job. Scrappers and possibly some controllers are your best farming builds. Period. And the controllers are only arguable good farmers in the later game.

    But hey. To each his/her own. I just don't wantcha to get 30 levels into a tank and then realize you shoulda built a scrapper. That feeling sucks.

    Hmmm. I wonder if a feasable option here would be to scale Tanker numbers as team members are added.

    For example. When solo, the tankers damage modifier would be say 1.5 of it's current value. While their defense/resistnce modifier would be 0.75 of it's current value.

    As team mates are added, the damage modifer comes down while the defense/resistance modifer goes up.

    This would essentially skew the tanker to the scrapper side of the spectrum when he has fewer team mates. Making the tanker less painful to solo but not overpowering him on a team.

    Tankers may need such an adjustment to keep Brutes from taking their jobs.

    My Inv/DM tank is like 28 and my opinon has been leaning similar. While i have not used the power on my tank, I am familure with it. It seems that it would only useful for mitigation...it's essentially a hold. Now holds are great and all, but I'm not certain that this toon needs a hold. In particular, I'm not sure he needs something to hold minons with. They usually are not a threat anyway.

    I will proably take it to see how well it works since I've got room right now. But the power is going to have to justify itsself in order for me to keep it.

    Speaking from just 27 levels of solo invulnerable tanker...I say yes. I think some folks consider resist energies skipable though.

    Going up against even-level and +1 I barely have to turn on my toggles at all.
    Now if I were tanking for a large group, then maybe not so much.

    Seriouslly though. It might be the first super heroe movie that has a truely epic giant monster battles...Not sure how they'd pull off a 6ft man doing melee with a 30 ft monster though.

    Thats the conventional wisdom on CoT of course. But was not true when I was there recently. vast majroity of roof tops were banished.

  11. I think a modified version of this idea would be fine.

    For example, Once you acheive say 48 month vet status, you get to autolevel one toon, once a year.

    But sometimes people THINK they want something, but in fact they really don't. The toons that I've powerleveled have been the very first ones I've abandoned or deleted. If it were offered, I'm not entirely certain that I would use it.

    Blue teams are set up to be stronger than the sum of their parts. It goes back to the Devs reading comics. I agree Tankers should do more damage, did they miss that bricks on most teams do tons of damage? But they did give tankers tools to save their teammates. And yes, that is their job.

    The mistake is yours. If you're playing AE, all expectations need to be dropped. Fast. Because if you don't you'll be in for a reality check.
  13. Is there anything in the game that is UN-SOLOABLE?

    When I say UNSOLOABLE, I mean absolutly un-soloable under any circumstances with ANY build whatsoever. Un-soloable as in 0 human team mate help. (Defining help here as using any powers)

    Some might say task forces and such, but techincally I think that some people have done it by having players quit after joining....I would consider that "soloable" since you have no human help other than place fillers to alow you to perform the task force.

    The only one that comes to my mind is the Hamidon. While I have never been in a Hamidon raid, I'm quite certain that no build cold ever mathematically defeat Hamidon.

    What else?
  14. I'm sure the devs have a close eye on DP. Time will tell wheather there needs to be an adjustment. My impression is that the Devs would rather a new set be underpowered when it is introduced rather than overpowered. The nerf backlash is just plain nasty.
  15. I think the hot one in PvP is regen and I think the hot one in PvE is Shield.

    I honesltly think that the rest are pretty evenly distributed with SR probably at the bottom.

    Hard to say though cause "popular" is tough to define. For example, I played one toon exclusivly(95%) for years, now I haven't pulled that toon out in months. once people acheive something, the toon gets little use afterwards.

  19. A long long time ago in an issue far far away, there was once a bit of an phase shift exploit that was being used. I belive that it was blasters that were using it. Aim-Build up-Blastem -Phase out or something. If memory serves (and it may not), phase shift could be perma-toggled and had no crash or significant cost other then the fact that you couldn't attack. Even the activation time was shorter so it could be used on short notice.

    Fuzzy memory though on that...maybe it was scrappers that was using it.
  20. One wish? Up the global difficulty of the game so that my tankers primary strength (tanking) is actually a needed commodity on a team.
  21. You might want to post your build. Elec/Shield should be a pretty darn good farmer.

    What are you farming? Someone can correct me if I'm wrong, but my impression is that most of the time the term "Farming" is speaking to obtaining purples. Or maybe farming tickets...but in that case they usually say, "farming tickets."
  22. Repetative content is repetative.

    Tieing with this is the lack of "unknowns". Before any fight I can calculate in my head the probabilty of suiccess. It's almost like I know too much about the game and its mobs. Not the devs fault, but I think I'm just getting bored with the game.

    I miss the mystery in the game...Sometimes I..I think I want to start seeing other MMOs.

    Well, empathy is proably the closest thing to being 'pure support" It's also probably the simplest defender priamary (other than FF) in that it does not have a dependance on mob or player location, and mob anchors and such.

    But kin is pretty high demand these day thanks to all the damage buff it brings. I made a kin recently and really enjoing it.

    Agreed here. While I enjoy high defense as much as anyone else, there is no question in my mind that this was not the design intent.

    I'd be all for GDF 2.
