    Soloing +4/x8?

Soloing +4x8 is NOT a general thing at all. If it's for farming, I don't think soloing +4x8 is that efficient. It takes a lot longer to kill and you may die doing so.

Some ATs can do it a lot better than the other and it really depends on what powersets and what enemy group you fight. At lvl 50, Council is probably the easiest enemy group. Circle Thorn can present a major problem if several Death Mages cast darkest night. You may not die easily from CoT but it will take a long long long time to kill. You'll be missing left and right.

The hardest regular enemies group to do +4x8 IMO are Aranchos, Longbows, Carnies and Malta. I don't see Rularuu in CoV much to care but they are very hard as well. Oh well.. just about every group is hard except for Councils.

My Night Widow has done +4x8 Longbow but it's pain. When you get hit by their rifles, your defense drops so much and sonic grenades debuff so much of your resistance. Sometimes you run in and you die in seconds before you can react.

Ooops, my mistake. I joined a higher level team when I was lower level.

No, it is Dimension Shift for sure.

But isn't this similar to Mutation??? A lot of "Supers" got their powers after certain events... and those chemicals "mutate" their genes or whatever you want to call it.

I can understand Technology. You basically wear a powersuit or use some high-tech weapons. Now I think Science/Mutation are more related!

And what stops a "Natural" person from using a Tech-weapon? I guess all Naturals are supposed to be using swords or martial arts then? :P
  4. Nothing is worse than a Gravity Dom/Troller using Dimension Shift in every mob!

I swear!!!! I joined PUG two weeks ago in Praetoria and this Grav Dom kept using DS on every mob. Why do we need DS at lvl 4???? The mobs were -1 level...

First of all, all ATs have different capabilities when using the same power. Blasters have the lowest Defense modifiers of all the ATs. They get only 3.5% with Cloaking Device, half of which suppresses when you attack. Fully slotted, this is 5.6%. (But it is a waste to slot a power with that low a Defense value for Defense, it's more productive to pick up another power like Combat Jumping or Weave. Or add some IOs)

Just as another example, Combat Jumping adds 1.75% Defense to a Blaster, unslotted. It is 1.875% to a Scrapper, 2.125% to a Corruptor, 2.25% to a Controller, and 2.5% to a Tanker, Defender or SoA. From that you can see that overall SoA get way more Defense than a Blaster, even with the same power. They get as much Defense as a Tanker, although they don't get as many actual Defense powers...

Second, Cloaking Device for SoA has even higher numbers than that. It is 7.5% Defense, while the Blaster version would be 5% if an SoA had it. (Twice what CJ gives you) Cloaking Device also allows you to Critical, like a Stalker, while the Blaster version obviously doesn't. (Of course, this is an Inherent ability, but it is built into the power)

So yeah, you're going to be getting WAY more out of this power than a Blaster would. It's much more like a Stalker's Hide.
    To OP,

In short, if you are Bane, you better take Cloaking Device because SoA is built around having high defense!

PS: I guess they could have renamed Bane's Cloaking Device because it is way too different from Blaster's. It's almost as good as Stalker's stealth (you can stand beside the target without being seen), it offers critical and it has much better defensive value.
  6. I honestly don't know the difference between Science and Technology. Aren't they closely related??

But judging from the animation (puking), I would say Poison is more like Mutation?

It's more like Science/Tech if we shoot poison out from a pistol or something.

Note that this is a far cry from "solid no." As with all things, we'll look at the priorities of the project at hand and introduce new tricks when they make sense. Cheers.
I agree with dev. Weather is nice to see for the first few times but can you imagine the amount of lag it can cause? We already lag like hell during raid. Imagine Raid + Rain/Storm???

I vote no on weather unless weather does something very special.
  8. I just want to say that Siphon Life could be the Top 3 best Melee attack in terms of damage and utility. It has a decent heal at 10% (which can be enhanced!), only 10s recharge, decent damage, 2s activation is a tiny bit on the long side but it also debuffs Tohit!!! I mean with everything adding up, who wants to skip Siphon Life??

On the side note, I made a Dark/Energy Aura (my current favorite "Stalker" by the way) and I put 3 proc damage in Smite and Shadow Punch (chance for negative, lethal and psionic). It feels like having Critical mechanism when they proc and I like having some burst damage when my fury is low. I am lvl 34 atm. I figure I'll let Fury handle my +damage and rely on procs to score big hits.

The only attack I am not so sure is Twlight Grasp actually. I may end up taking Gloom instead.
  9. As funny as it sounds, I kinda agree. Maybe this is why castle hasn't changed it back. lol

I brought my Merc/Storm to ITF the other day and I've noticed one of the pets would always run in. He doesn't necessarily use brawl. He just runs closer to "shoot". It's usually either Commando or one of the Soldiers. Spec-Ops tend to stay back.

Try and go up against Rikti in the RWZ. Derp!

Personally, I think the idea of someone dual wielding blades fits the "ninja" theme more than single wielding a katana, but I'm not sure if I'd be stabbing myself in the foot if I remade to dual blades are not...

Any experts on Ninja Blade/Dual Blades willing to give me some advice? Thanks!
    I made a DB/NIN to 50 and a Nin/SR to 46.

Before melee range being changed to 7' reach instead of 5', Ninja Blade's cone attack wasn't that good (now it's respectable).

Having said that, 1K Cuts is still a very good melee cone attack with 10' range. You can easily hit 2-3 targets in each mob and it offers knockdowns too.

Soaring Dragon > Vengeful but Attack Vital is a cheap and easy combo for good ST damage. You just can't keep chaining Attack Vital because they put a reset timer on it (bummer).

I do like Dual Blade on Stalker. I think it's well balanced for ST damage and AoE damage for Stalker. I am not a big fan on Stalker combos because 1. you have to take all powers to have access to all 4 combos (waste) 2. two combos are tied to either Assassin Strike or Build Up so you can really only have two reliable combos in Attack Vital and Weaken. I just hit BU and 1K Cuts for good burst damage.

You can have them!! Nobody is stopping you!! I just don't see the need. If my character is past lvl 35, then I may feel like I want to make him/her strong with sets. Below lvl 30, nah, I don't feel the need and it's too early to tell. That's my own rule.
  12. I don't see much point either. Basically, here is my rule of thumb - if this new character is not in her/his lvl 35+, then I probably don't feel the need to buy sets because I don't like him that much anyway.

I don't see why I need low level sets. Some unique and procs are great but that's about it. Who's buying lvl 20 sets? I just dump them.

I also don't see any TF/SF that are so hard that I need set bonuses at that level range that are below lvl 30.

I can see people buying lvl 30 sets for Siren Calls and that's about it.

In fact, oftentimes it's preferable to run with a smaller team even if you are, in fact, adding good players with strong characters. Sometimes large teams make coordination hard, lead to extra unavoidable aggro and generally drag certain missions out. The old Positron TF was a great example. Run it with three people and it's easy as pie. Run it with eight people, and you're gonna' die. A lot.

The whole problem is you're working off the mentality that the bigger the team, the better for everyone. This is provably not the case as a blanket rule, even if it's often true nonetheless. There are a fair few cases where deciding if you want to add another player at all is, in fact, a meaningful decision, and one that's harder to agree on unless you actually specifically NEED that particular character. Yes, good players can oftentimes override these problems by sheer awesomeness, but not all of us build for that.

All of that is to say that you cannot just brush Stalker desirability issues under the carpet as irrelevant. They are. In fact, Castle has told me to my face that in a new AT suggestion that unless that AT served some role on a team, it was unlikely to be accepted. Unless Stalkers serve some function on a team that makes them desirable in at least some situations, then there is a problem. Whether or not YOU in particular would choose to invite a Stalker or not is irrelevant. All that matters is numerical efficiency - if there is no situation in which adding a Stalker to the team is more efficient than adding a Scrapper or a Brute, then this testifies to a need for changes and improvements.

In the simplest of terms - just because one player can play one AT and one player will always invite one AT does not mean that this AT does not have problems or deserve improvements. In fact, hand-waving problems away as "it doesn't concern ME" is a significant disservice to both the AT in question and to game balance in general.
    I agree!

I play Stalkers and I do invite Stalkers (because I feel sorry for them and I don't think Stalker is that bad) but it doesn't mean Stalkers can't use some "changes". It doesn't have to be a "buff" because buff is a plus. I just want some changes to how Assassin Strike works on a team (it's taking too long IMO) and I would prefer changing team critical buff radius even at the expense of having less critical % per party member. I would gladly take 2% critical buff from each teammate than 3% within 30' radius. I call it a change and some can call it a buff or nerf depending on the situation.

And yes, I sometimes prefer a smaller team. I don't know why some people insist on inviting until the team is full. I only invite when I feel the team needs something to be better. If my team already has 2-3 melee, I will not invite another melee, which includes Stalker. The only exception is Bane soldier. :P
  14. It's going to be either my awesome Fortunata or Bane.

I haven't really studied Alpha Slots but I don't think I need that much more +recharge. It won't hurt but I don't think it's worth my time to get more +recharge. I need to look into it when i19 comes out and see what else I can get. I only know about Spiritual Tree a bit.

    Pain Domination?

I like Pain Domination a lot on MM simply because World of Pain applies to all your pets and yourself. Yes, I can get lazy and I don't feel like putting fire shields on each pet.

What Pain Domination doesn't have is -regen debuff which Thermal has. Other than that, I find Pain Domination on resistance based pets very good. Pain Domination doesn't work that well on Ninja because they have no resistance to stack yours with. It's better to put defense on them.

    I can see Demon/Pain being a good combo. I know I really enjoy my lvl 50 Necro/Pain.

  17. Edited: I thought Stalker is missing out on some defense from Energy Cloak but Stalker's Energy Aura shields (like Kinetic) actually have higher base value at 16.5%, while Brute's is 12.8%. Interesting.

Mmmm, this could explain why many Brute players don't like Energy Aura because it starts out pretty weak and some don't even like to take Energy Cloak (thinking it's counter-productive). Well, I have an Energy Aura Brute and I just use Taunt to grab aggro. If your Brute doesn't take Energy Cloak, it's pretty gimpy.
  18. Surveillance is a single-target debuff that does not cause aggro (hit or miss) unless you put damage proc.
  19. In general game-play, Crab is easier to be "effective" but Bane has way better ST-damage and burst damage. If you like Stalker-kind of gameplay, then you may find Bane better.

Bane is like a superior version of Stalker in PvE IMO. You don't have that "massive" Assassin Strike damage (I don't think it's that massive considering the setup time and interruption) but what you have in return is great resistance debuffs, team buffs and even decent pets to help out.

Crab is like a tank-ish Blaster with excellent AoE and one very good resistance debuff in Venom.

So 7.5% during stealth then... I find it stacks pretty well with Maneuver on Bane.
  21. Who here would feel sad if their range-oriented pets lose Brawl like Robots, Soldiers and Thugs (minus Bruiser)???

I know I will celebrate if my soldiers lose Brawl. They have no business punching people. I am sorry. Yeah, I do know brawl may increase dps a bit but at what cost? Them running into the mobs and dying way faster? Sometimes it's not just about dying faster. With Soldiers' cone attacks being very narrow, I need them to stand "far" so their cones cover more targets. I don't want them to move forward at all.

Right there, a simple tweak, increasing Stalkers ST DPS, while allowing them to more likely take out bigger targets with one hit.

I still don't see the lack of AOE as a factor. Scrappers & Brutes have access to ST heavy sets.

The interrupt reducer in AS would also be nice imo. Even at softcapped defenses, I've had AOE's during AV fights stop me from landing a placate + AS plenty of times. :/
Yes, I also think Assassin Strike costs a bit too much end especially if it gets interrupted somehow. I have had plenty of times where my AS was interrupted when I wasn't attacked. Maybe I clicked it too fast when my toon was "sliding" or got pushed by teammates. Each AS costs 14.4 end?

Snipe also has interruption but you normally don't need to adjust your position due to long-range. Adjusting position takes time and may cause interruption.

Other than those two, any suggestion slightly above marginal is going straight into the wastebin that sits under the suggestion box
So you DO think Stalker needs more fixes. Case closed.

Each one has his/her own idea of "fixing" stalker but some people want to claim that fixing Stalker is a "non-sense" or "laughable matter". If it's a non-sense, Castle wouldn't say in i18 that Stalker still needs more work. And on the other hand, just because Castle thinks Stalker "is fine" doesn't make him "right" either because afterall, I dare say some of us play Stalkers more than he does. Sometimes "playing style" can't be justified by numbers and some calculations. If we feel something is not quite right, then something is not right (yes, Assassin Strike, I am looking at you).

I think Castle reposed here (other than being requested by EvilRyu) because he really doesn't have time to "fix" Stalker in i19. Castle has more things to worry about..like how balanced is each Alpha Slot "skill tree"? Time is the issue here.

The key thing is we can have a "peaceful" debate without yelling and attacking each other on personal level (like you are stupid, moron..etc). Most people can do it here and apparently some people can't. Just because some people say "I f!@#$ disagree" (with swear word) doesn't make that "disagreement" more legit. It just sounds annoying that's all and make me not want to read what he types.
  24. Sometimes I wish they had more caps/limits for buffs/debuffs because a team of Defender/Corr/Troller/Mastermind is very sick due to all the force multipliers.
  25. Nobody seems to like Oni much? hehehe

Now, I figure having two tiers of the same pets could be overpowering (for example, two Assault Robots), if you can mix-match two tiers only, what is your Dream Combo? Some of you already mentioned Two Lieut Demons + Two Protector Robots.

My dream combo would probably be:

Two Enforcers + Two Grave Knights
