Quote:Oh good. I was going to ask if Alpha Muscular's damage boost applies to pet's damage as well.Yes, I know.
The rest of it though is fine. Alpha slots boost damage, or accuracy, or endurance reduction, or hold times, etc. of all you pets simultaneously just fine, plus all of your other powers too.
The only folks having problems are Khelds and Doms. Masterminds are good. -
Does Poison Dart's 25% -regen stack on its own? Somebody told me it does but with just 25%, I can't really tell. Any experts here?
Poison Dart debuffs -regen for 15s.
My dilemma is this. I used to have TK Blast (it attacks fast) but then I respec and took Poison Dart thinking that I can provide some -regen during AV fight. It turns out, with claw weapon draw and activation time, I feel my dps is hurt quite a bit when I include poison dart in attack chain. Is 25% even meaningful? If not, I want to respec it out with TK Blast. -
Another idea I have is that SoA Soldier's Pummel is similar to Riflebutt but does decent damage and less stun chance. Maybe they can add some good melee damage on Riflebutt? I mean it's already rare enough for Spec-Ops to use it but it would be cool if Riflebutt does very good melee damage when it happens! Riflebutt's damage would match Snipe's theme I guess. Decent burst damage.
If Riflebutt does good melee damage, it may make more sense to goto Spec-ops with that pathetic Stealth that serves no purpose. -
I am surprised this thread is still active. Castle made it pretty clear that there won't be any stalker buff in near future (or Stalker is already "strong" enough).
Now they have more important things to work on... like Alpha balance and more Alpha slots!
PS: I still talk about how MM's Merc and Ninja can use more changes because Castle hasn't made comments on those yet. :P (Oni still takes Knockback set when he has no knocback) -
Willpower on Stalker is also very good. It's a bit different from Scrapper's version. Stalker's version can handle spike damage because of the single heal while Scrapper's version allows him to handle more mobs around him for high +regen.
Regeneration on Stalker is just not very good. It needs something more to back up that low HP cap.
I would go with Ninjitsu and Willpower for a "unique" Stalker experience.
Electricity Melee is great on Stalker. Good choice.
Edit: I know this is off-topic but I've been telling people who dislike Stalkers to try Bane instead because Bane has decent burst damage (no setup time), great buffs, debuffs and even aoe. You'll feel your Stalkerish-Bane offers way more to the team than your Stalker's damage. -
Quote:It's lower damage than a "true" nuke because it has no endurance crash. It is an EXCELLENT power. Very unique.I've been humming and hahing over this power... I want it, because I love nukes... but I don't want it, because I've heard that it is low-level nuke damage.
I've seen it before, and it looks cool... but...
Opinions? Hard facts?
You can drop it "out of sight". It taunts, and takes all alpha damage, and it does "decent" aoe damage and it stuns! I can't think of any reason to skip it or drop it besides the fact that you like to "gimp" yourself.
It's a very unique power. Take it and love it and use it wisely! If your team is already killing so fast, dropping it may not serve much purpose. -
You can get perma dom and softcap S/L? Elec/Earth also?

Quote:Demons already survive better than Zombies. Demons have at last lethal and smashing resistance while Zombies only have smashing and no lethal (oh, I hate Longbows). Ninja could be even worse in terms of survival.I'm playing a demon/dark mastermind. I've played bots/dark and thugs/dark both in the past, and I'm a bit disappointed in how squishy my demons are in comparison. I'm hoping things will improve when I get the resist and defense aura procs for them, and when I get fluffy at 38, but does anyone have any other suggestions on how to keep the little buggers alive?
Being partially melee pets just die easier than mostly ranged. I think Demons already survive better than Necro and Ninja.
The resistant and defense unique will help greatly for sure. -
One thing I've experienced with is Team Teleport. You can actually teleport FFG with you and since your pets are melee oriented, you can try to team tp into the mob to start the fight. I've tried it on my Necro/Trap.
-
SoA as long as they take Maneuver. I like SoA because you just need to stick together and fight and you don't really need to ask for healing or buffs.
-
Everything under the category of "Stalker". :P

Quote:Mmmm, this is not my experience at all. I have one lvl 41 Spine/Ninjitsu and one lvl 50 Spine/EA Stalker. You didn't really ask my opinion, but spines stalkers are kind of bleah. Your placate will fail almost every time because your attacks have a poison DOT on the back end.
I haven't really noticed how DoT would ruin Placate. After I got Throw Spines, I basically only use placate and throw spines right away. Or Throw Spine and then spine burst.
Spine Stalker is very decent but leveling a Spine to lvl 18 is so painful and you feel so gimped until 26 and then eventually 32. -
Quote:If you want to play Defender, try Dark/Ice Blast. Ice Blast has very good slow/recharge debuffs and probably 2nd best range ST attack chain (behind Fire). Defender doesn't have fire blast.Hmmm interesting. I think it's obvious by what you are saying and looking over the powers that Dark Miasma has everything I want on it in a single set- team support, a stealth, and a heal. I have never played fire before because I much preferred to support a team than nuke and fire has no secondary effect. That being said, Dark Miasma by itself has enough team support that taking fire to get through those times when I am forced to solo is interesting.
If I reverse it and put it on a defender, what's a good secondary? I have heard Ice and Psychic are good choices because they do solid damage.
But if I were you, I would go with Dark/Sonic blast. :P -
Quote:40 damage... that doesn't seem that bad per hit. If it's enhanced by Surveillance debuff, Venom or Shatter Armor, the number should be a lot better. If you have your toon already slotted for maximum damage output, the common enhancement will do little to improve that (because of the low ED ignoring percentage). I checked the difference it made for my Banes Shatter and it only improved the number by 40.
I am thinking about going for more damage just because Bane has resistance debuffs. -
Blah.. pvp sets are so expensive.. did you save up 35 purple merits?
-
I've been wanting a "Natural" set for Dominator. If Whip Assault just takes too long to make (as stated by one of the devs), then I would gladly take Riot/Gadget Control and some kind of natural assault attacks. I am not too sure if I want another Assault Rifle-kind of sets. We already have Assault Rifle and Soldier. I am leaning towards Martial Arts style with kicks and throwing star. :P
With Mind control and MA/Ninjitsu, you can become a mind-controlling Ninja! -
Looks like you just don't like Claw. Claw/Elec looks pretty good to me because kb and kd should offer even more protection for your Elec Armor.
Instead of stripping this toon, I would just keep doing Villain or Hero tip missions and use those purple merits to buy uniques that you spent so much money on. Maybe you'll like your Claw/Elec more on a larger team later? -
Quote:Not sure if MM is the best choice in taking down one target ASAP and get that kind of satisfaction. Have you considered either Stalker, Night Widow or Bane soldier? They deal very good burst damage. I would recommend Bane because you get good burst damage while enjoying that "smashing" sound. :PI have been partaking in a LOT of trial and error as of late with the new... "extended septuple experience weekend" we seem to having in AE.
I have always been an altaholic, trying to figure out what exactly in this game is fun to me.
I have discovered in teams I like to pick a target and have all my pets focus fire it and my gratification directly correlates to how quickly they can all burn down a single mob.
I'm not sure why I guess it's kinda visceral that way. With all the AOE in the game I guess I feel a kind of disconnect when I'm just somehow suppose to be contributing to this ball of flaming aoe but I don't really see and feel the damage other than orange numbers. I like watching the healthbar shoot down.
As strange as that sound, if anyone would like to contribute to my enlightenment that's about 33 months on and off in the making, I would really appreciate feedback of the possible best prim/sec for this style of play.
If you only want Mastermind, I would actually recommend Merc (with procs) or Necro (with you blasting as well).
Ninja has good ST damage but they also die easier and it may lead to frustration.
Merc with proc damage has decent ST damage. Merc's aoe damage mainly comes from cone attacks but since you don't care about aoe, you can just simply find a target and focus fire and see tons of DoT damage and proc damage goes off.
Necro has good ST damage too if you blast with Dark Blast and Gloom. I color all my blast powers and they look so pretty when they go off. The reason you should blast yourself is that Zombies die easily too so instead of trying to babysit them, you just use them as meatshields and blast yourself for ST damage. I used to run a Necro/Storm build when recharge used to work in Pets. It was a very fun ST-damage build (using Hurrican to push everything away from me).
As for secondaries, I would suggest Storm simply because the only thing you need to do in each fight is drop Freezing Rain and that's it. You can throw out healing when you feel like it. /Poison has good ST debuffs but it lacks aoe protection for your pets. If you only solo, I may recommend /Poison but since you brought up AE, I take it that you team a lot? If you do, then /Poison is one of the worst team-secondaries IMO. Oh, you can also go with /Dark. -
I recently started a little project called Stalkerish Brute (Dark Melee / Energy Aura) as a goof because I've made several Stalkers to lvl 50 and haven't had one Brute past lvl 42. With the new Fury change, this Brute has become my most favorite Brute!
To make long story short, here are some positives about /EA Brute (not too sure about Energy Melee though)
1. Unsuppressed Stealth! It allows you to stealth in, kill some mobs while other mobs can't see you! In fact, there were times when I took down two targets and the rest of the enemies in the same group didn't even know I was there! You can't get any more Assassin-like than this!
2. Take Taunt! Brute's Taunt has no accuracy check. With i19, you have one more room to take it. Use it to grab aggro when you want to. Use it to generate Taunt! Use it to Pull! I've never taken Taunt before until I made my DA/EA. I love it. It costs no endurance too.
3. Take Energy Cloak! Think of it as giving you "flexibility" rather than "restricting" your role. When you want to grab aggro, use Taunt. Energy Aura set is balanced with you running Energy Cloak because the base value on Kinetic Shield is lower than Stalker's version. (I didn't know that until recently!). So if you are not using the stealth power, you need to get other powers like Weave to get decent defense, unless you want set bonuses. Kinetic Combat is one expensive set.
4. Yes, Psionic damage sucks. This is part of the reason why I chose Dark Melee as primary so I have another heal in Siphon Life and tohit debuff to avoid some psi damage.
5. Stop carrying so many Green inspirations! After you got Energy Drain, you really only need Purple! Just with one purple, your defense is high enough to take most alpha. With two purples, you are god-mode. Just carry one or two greens in case you get unlucky heavy hits in a row. And I only carry one blue.
6. Energy Aura has repel protection. I love it when I stand beside Singularity pet when I fought Family bosses. :P
Honestly, Energy Aura on Brute offers a different and yet EFFECTIVE gameplay style. You see Masterminds trying to be "Tanker". Well, you can turn your Brute into a Stalker-like while still doing awesome damage and being able to tank when you want to! -
My Stalkerish Brute is lvl 35 now. I must say this is one very fun Brute.
To make my Brute more Stalkerish, I added 3 damage procs in Shadow Punch and Smite to give myself little Critical system. It feels really good when at least two procs go off at once. I see 4 damage numbers! I don't see the word Critical but those orange numbers look just as good.
I did put at least one damage proc in Siphon Life and Midnight but I think Siphon Life power is better off with a mix of damage and healing. I may change that later. With Brute's higher base health, Siphon Life's healing is better than on Stalker's lower base health.
If you like an alternative Stalker-style gameplay, I highly recommend /EA Brute and Bane.
I've had people telling me it's stupid to have Stealth on Brute because I am supposed to be the "tanker". Well, I see it as being flexible because I took Taunt and if I feel like grabbing aggro, I'll use it and if I don't feel like grabbing aggro, I just run past them or run in to kill them one by one. And Energy Aura gives decent defense. So far, the only big difference between Brute and Stalker damage is when my fury is low. I usually save Soul Drain when my fury is low. -
Quote:Just remember to slot Brute for -end (if you don't have sets). Let Fury increase your damage. I used to slot Brute for +acc, +damage just like most of my other melee toons but that's a big mistake. I only slot for +acc and +end before Single Origin and only one +damage after SO. The rest are ACC and END so I can continue SMASH.I have a few questions regarding Brutes. I have only one Brute over lvl 20. Although I like my current shield brute, I still have never felt the awesomeness with any Brute, that others feel about their Brutes.
1) How would you rate Brute primaries?
2) Do you think Brute primaries are slow? Or fast? Or somewhere between? Regarding playability (blasters are fast, controllers are slow).
3) What are some of your others thoughts about Brutes.
thanks for your input
Brute's new Fury makes me like Brute more. I used to hate Brute. I am still working on my first lvl 50 Brute (after having several lvl 50 Stalkers). -
I thought Blaster's VS does more damage than Defender's version. I think Corruptor/Dominator/Blaster's VS all do the same damage? I could be wrong on this as I don't play Defender but Mids shows Defender's version is less damage?
I've suggested before that VS would be a good one to add "electricity jump" attack like what you see from Chain Induction. -
Yeah I agree. I used to play Champions and they have "personal nemesis and random ambushes". They can add nemesis but just don't add to a specific AT. If you are a Brute, your nemesis can be a Tanker-type of mob or whatever. If you are a Dominator, your nemesis type can be a Controller., etc.

Quote:Oh my, was Dev wrong....The idea of "Kheldian Kryptonite" came out because the devs feared Kheldians were too powerful without it. That turned out to be an overexaggerated concern. Ranged and Defense in combination is not overpowered, as long as they are in balance. By the time they got through achieving that balance, Voids were no longer needed, and had been too powerful in the first place.
I think adding extra mob/counter because of certain teammate is a terrible way to balance an AT. If they thought Kheldian was too powerful, nerf their powers instead. I am too new to Kheldian but I am very glad SoA doesn't have "void" or random ambushes.
