Quote:After 4 year waiting to get a beast mastery power I will finally will be able to created the Hunter hero of my dream. Is so amazing to finally see animal in this game outside of gull and some shark, I will roll one even tho the set is lacking(So ppl say) The fact of controlling a pack of wolf/lion to eat your enemies is freaking AWESOME!!!! The set will get fix if it lacking.
But it piss me off that now CoX is selling this new set instead of giving it to VIP.Alway tho this would be for free. First i know that the new selling item the give have boost the game economic, It's good, but it worrie me that MM, the AT will less primary in the whole game can't have The primary that we have request from the first day MM was created.
It's to much to ask to give us this after the long wait? It would be like a token of kindness to give us MM soo a requested Primary.
All in all, even thoug I don't agreed with this capitalis aproche that only allow ppl with money to play with the new stuff. I will buy it as a act of kindness from a good customer that enjoy Paragon Studio work and hope that his money, to be use to bring quality enterteiment for FREE in the future.
What do you think about?
Well, how many new MM sets did we get under the old system? If I remember correctly, within my first 4 years here, MM only got ONE really new primary set Thug and Demon is part of the Rogue package. That's two Mastermind new sets within 4 years.
Or you can gather your VIP points or pay a little bit extra to have something new to play within a year? I forgot when Demon came out but it must be within 1.5 year?
The new system allows us to play something new much faster. That's what I think and I like it. -
I prefer Blinding Powder.. Smoke Flash? Not so much. The best panic button is to just run away.

You are either not reading or trying to be cute. Well, it's not working. Again, scroll up and read what you wrote. I am only rude to people who are rude. This conversation ends. It's off topic on a Stalker forum.

Quote:But we all value things differently. Although you can easily slot 4 of those and still manage a proc if you intelligently slot, my response to your over aggressiveness and flat-out rude behavior?
You need to scroll up and read what you wrote. I am only being rude to people who deserve it. -
Quote:Not at the expense of making your pets stronger. Pets are better off with a mix of damage procs and pet unique. Certain primary/secondary sets have the luxury of taking Pet Recharge sets.I think the poster meant in general. 1 good bonus out of 5 doesnt make for good bonuses.
I am a Mastermind and my focus is on making my pets better. Sure, I'll take 10% recharge on my own but only if I can keep all those procs. I just don't think the bonus is that good and that 2% damage bonus is beyond bad for MM, who has the lowest damage modifier in the game. Even with 4% damage boost, it's still meaningless. -
Quote:Not if you want your pets to have damage procs and a mix of other uniques. Not every primary set can take both Pet and Pet recharge sets. I know I won't do that on my Merc and Ninjas. Commando is better with knock back proc and Soldiers and Spec-Ops are better off with AH proc and Negative proc. Ninja's Jounins are better with AH and Negative and what's left for Genin and Oni is that each of them need to take one unique and then plus MM ATO's unique.I live in a City of Heroes where 10% Global Recharge is bad.
Going to go cry myself to sleep.
And yeah, I don't think 10% recharge on a Mastermind is as useful as damage procs and four unique in pets.
You can disagree with me but don't put up that attitude. You want to cry and sleep. Go ahead. I have legit reasons behind my posts. -
Quote:I don't agree with this. I've heard Dominator's proc is amazing once you have high recharge and Tanker's proc gives them a lot more survival.I think they are close. I also think the ATIO proc is what is making it appear a little more op than it actually is. The Brute and Stalker ATIO procs seem to give more benefit than any of the other AT procs. That is not to say that I think the ATIO procs needs to be nerfed, just that the others need to be brought in line with the benefit that Stalkers and Brutes get from theirs. From what I hear the MM proc is worthless.
I've tried Blaster's proc and I kinda like it. Yes, it's not a fancy kind of proc but it's a sure hit. When I land a hit, the fire damage proc happens.
Stalker's proc has two problems. One, you need two hit checks (AS needs to land and then your next hit needs to land) and two it's hard to control what your next hit is especially with high recharge because you can use AS under 10s. Oh and three, Stalker's proc is limited to only triggered once in 10s (in reality it's a bit longer than 10s). Other damage procs (controller, blaster, corr) can happen more often with good recharge and I believe Dominator's and Tanker's can stack up to 3-5 times?
Mastermind's proc is not worthless at all. The full set and the bonuses are bad. The 10% or 15% aoe defense is very good. -
I don't play Brute/Scrapper. How is SJ performing for them? Is SJ over-shadowing MA and other sets?
I am asking this because while I think SJ is a great set for Stalker (burst damage nature always favors Stalker's style), SJ has limited aoe ability (pretty small pbaoe) and it has two not so high damage (and Stalker doesn't get -resistance and -damage in Rib Cracker).
To some degree, SJ only looks so good because MA has no aoe. I've played both MA and SJ to level 50 and in incarnate trials. I don't feel MA's ST damage is that inferior to SJ. SJ has one tiny problem, which is overkill on the last hit. It's not uncommon that the final hit is way overkill. MA has more "smooth dps" because each attack hits similarly hard. The only problem I have with MA is the lack of the only aoe.
Other sets like Claw and Ninja, they are some of the top performing dps sets for Scrapper but the Stalker version is inferior.
SJ Stalker didn't lose any of the aoe but with the new AS change, it gains an amazing ST attack.
I was leveling my old Elec/Will Stalker from 37 to 50 and I feel his performance is just as good as my SJ/Ice and in some cases better because of a much better aoe potential.
I think the root of the problem is that some of the old sets just need some improvements. There is no secret that Spine, Elec and SJ are performing so well because they weren't that "nerfed" to begin with. Some old sets lose one critical pbaoe and get nothing in return. (read my signature!) -
Quote:Yeah, I got the full set yesterday, and it looks like AS was a good spot for it. Now I just need the rest of the IOs for my overly ambitious build.
I'm actually a little stuck on finding a one-slot wonder power to get at 30... I really don't need Hasten with this thing, "diminishing returns" is an understatement in this case. There's Smoke Flash, but... yeah. My inner Defender says Leadership, but Maneuvers isn't that great on a Stalker, and I got enough defense slots to do the LoTG thing. Amusingly, the best I can come up with is Recall Friend. Even that is not great, but it takes Universal Travel. Plus there are worse things to be than PvE invisible and able to teleport teammates.
Maybe I should just take it to the Build Workshop once I'm done endlessly tinkering with it in Mids.
EDIT: And so I did. Second time this particular Stalker is in the Workshop.
Hasten one slot isn't bad. Most people run Hasten on auto. If you only have one slot, just use it when it's recharge. Save it for boss fight so you can recharge a lot faster.
Another one slot wonder is Combat Jumping. It gives you some defense and it's a good place for Luck of Gambler.
If you already have combat jumping, then Recall Friend is good. Stalker has the advantage of stealth in and at some points, some people will need tp.
Oh, did you take placate? I don't slot Placate more than one slot. lol I use it but I don't think it deserves more than one slot. -
Quote:The main things being anything but Defense-based costs you are (a) ease of access to the softcap and (b) high confidence you will stay hidden if you rehide in combat.
Obviously (a) has lots of importance for those used to softcapping defense sets, but even if you can't softcap them, the resist sets are fairly tough, and if you can use IOs to layer 30-35% defense, you're unlikely to hate the result in most content.
Part (b) likely mattered more before I22. Now that AS is so deadly even without placating anything, about the only time a Stalker needs to worry they'll lose hidden status in a fracas is when they're using the ATE proc, which of course suffers far less from animation time issues than using Placate.
Overall, I'd say I22's change made playing resist sets a lot less unattractive just due to the change to AS making us less reliant on Placate for offense.
Have you tried your defensive based Stalker in DA? I am not sure what the "Modern" day CoX mean but I guess it has something to do with itrials? If so, I feel resistance based sets with good set bonuses (good is the key!!) fairs better than defensive sets. There are a lot of "auto damage" in itrial.
However, if we are not talking about itrials, then defensive sets are better for Stalker. -
Quote:My only Ninja is lvl 50 and he has a mix of pet sets already. Yes, Genins do run low on endurance but if my memory is right, only with two upgrades because Exploding star costs more endurance? You ever tried Ninjas? Genin can burn through endurance with no upgrades, and it gets progressively worse. Having a seamless attack chain is both a gift and a curse.
Anyway, I put one -end in Dire Wolf and so far it's working much better. I was just really surprised by how fast it uses its endurance with only one upgrade. -
SJ, MA, DM, and KM are top ones IMO. EM has good burst damage but I feel it suffers quite a bit when the last two attacks can't critical or can't have full critical and they are freaking slow too. If you are are on a full team, EM's effectiveness drops.
DM, on paper, looks good to me. It may be boring but a mix of dark/smashing damage is good. Smashing damage is not as bad as lethal.
Claw is just messed up. I think it's rare for a reason. One of the best pbaoe Spin is taken out. Its other pbaoe is changed to ST attack which has LESS DPA than Focus and Slash. Stalker AT is built for burst damage and not full of low damage, fast recharge attacks. Claw Scrapper can stack Focus buff to make Claw a very good dps but Stalker only has build up. Its recharge is discounted but not including the "stacking" potential.
I think Dual Blade can be good too but that set is tricky. Ninja Blade has great potential with procs.
Conclusion, if you are looking for the best ST while having the benefit of some pbaoe aoe, then Street Justice is a clear winner IMO, followed by Kinetic. -
The best place to put full set of ATO is still in Assassin Strike. Gambler Cuts already has fast enough recharge so the amazing +recharge from the full set won't benefit Gambler Cuts that much and besides, once your Assassin Strike has good enough, you may end up using an interruptable version of AS during your attack chain.

Quote:Why Elec and SJ melee should be changed for Stalker? Too strong?I'll admit that I wouldn't have left elec and SJ as they are for stalkers but then I always feel that the devs should err on the side of caution.
Scrapper and Brute have /shield and /fiery that allow them to deal even more damage. None of Stalker's secondary sets offer good damage. -
Quote:Stalker is designed to deal damage and the new Assassin Strike allows Stalker to deal amazing ST melee damage. It's not "too strong" at all considering other 3 melee ATs have more aoe in primary and secondary sets. Yes, some of Stalker combos have good aoe but majority of them are inferior. Tanker can survive 3x better than Stalker. Brute can fill both tanking and damage. And Scrapper's damage is not inferior to Stalker at all.Assassin's Strike is a little too strong now. It does, badly, need to get normalized ASAP. Other than that, the changes are good.
"too strong" and Stalker don't belong in the same sentence. And also, it is still unclear that Stalker always out-damage Scrapper in ST damage department. I say it's close enough but some of Scrapper's combos can deal amazing ST and aoe damage that Stalker can't match.
I like the way Stalker is now. Even if Stalker is still mathematically inferior, I would still play Stalker. I enjoy the fast burst damage that an Assassin should have. The old AS was too slow and too much limitation. -
I have a lvl 50 Kin/Dark who took both Weave/Tough. His survival is not bad. I think it's good enough in most cases.
The thing with Stalker is that you are never going to be the main focus on a team. If you are soloing, you have enough burst damage to receive less damage.
I am going to try out Electricity Armor. I think resistance-based sets work well when you have good defensive set bonuses to back up.
One thing I've noticed with DA content is that mobs there have very high chance to hit and they deal a lot of "exotic" damage. My Ice Armor has good S/L defense but when I fought some of the mobs there, they cut through me like butter.I wish I had more resistance.
I think resistance based sets are a bit more favored in itrials/DA.
PS: If you want to try a resistance-based, I would choose Elec Armor over Dark Armor. The reason is that Elec Armor has 20% +recharge and it has endurance management. Dark Armor is an endurance hog until you have good set bonuses and unique and procs. With the new Assassin Strike, endurance management needs to be taken into consideration. In that regard, I think I'll favor Elec Armor over Dark Armor. I also hate carrying Acrobatic and one -kb proc is not good enough against some knock back attacks (IE: Pylon!!!). The knock back hole in Dark Armor makes soloing pylon annoying. -
Quote:One of Dire Wolf's ice cones has very long reach. One time it hits the mobs behind the other mob! lolIt's almost like I didn't think it was an issue that cones had horrible cooldowns, horrible shapes, and horrible target caps!
Yeah, it's a 'something' of a 'something'. Unfortunate it went as is, but I tried on beta. Maybe we'll see something in i23, or a hopeful 'i22.5'?
Dire Wolf is very aggressive which I like. I think at lvl 29, Beast is doing very fine. It has problems but it's not under-performing at all. Beast's ST damage is very high with 10 stacks of PM. -
I just 6-slotted my Dire Wolf. With SOs, I go for one Acc, three Damage and one -End. So far it has worked out much better with one -end.
I created this thread 'cause I was amazed by how fast Dire Wolf burns endurance with just one upgrade. Like I've said, I know other pets can burn through endurance quick but usually with two upgrades. My Dire Wolf was literally dried on endurance in two semi-long fights. When I solo, I tend to do x2 players as a MM. Maybe it was using more end 'cause we needed more attacks to kill the mobs.
Now, on the POSITIVE SIDE, I have noticed that with Dire Wolf, I gain Pack Mentality much better. In fact, I saw 10 stacks several times. Before Dire Wolf, I could barely get 7 stacks on a regular basis. With 10 stacks of PM, Beast's damage is good. I can't compare with Ninja yet until I have two upgrades. I just know that at lvl 29, my Beast/Time's damage is not low at all. -
I would gladly buy Crown set if they can make it funny and interesting. I would love to see a lot of random joke attacks like you throw out a gift box and it has random effects.
-
Quote:I can understand having some endurance issue with two upgrades because Oni, Commando and Demon Prince have that issue, but Dire Wolf has endurance issue with just one upgrade! That's pretty serious IMO.Yeah, he chugs the endurance. I'm assuming it's because he uses cones a lot. Unfortunate too because I need all the blue insps I can get.
And I want Dire Wolf to keep spamming those two ice breath attacks because that's the only aoe attacks I have!
I was really hoping one of the ice attacks is a target aoe and not a cone. Cone and melee pets just don't mesh that well. OH well... -
Quote:My main AT is Stalker and EM is the only set that I will not make. I don't pvp so I have no use for a set that doesn't excel in any area. Yes, it has a lot of stuns but a mag 4 stun is usually good enough on most bosses and it's not like you can stack enough stuns to perma stun an AV on your own. Kinetic Melee has enough stuns while having -damage debuffs and an aoe (or two if you are brute/scrapper).EM is a victim of being effective on stalkers back when anyone cared about pvp and mistakenly tried to balance it (e.g., Castle).
Just move on, I think. All of the old players probably have at least one EM toon that they don't play any more or have deleted. It sucks, but there you go...
EM is slow... overlapping secondary effects... very mediocre damage and no aoe at all. What's even worse is that ET can't critical and TF only critical a small portion. WTF??! PvP nerfed EM to the ground.
Street Justice is a set that has excellent ST damage while having two melee aoe. That's how a melee set should be like. Both EM and MA Stalker need serious help. -
Funny 3 years ago, I saw plenty of EM Brutes but now I can barely see one.
It's a set that is too ST-oriented with quite a few skippable powers. Duplicated purposes (Stun for example). And Stalker version doesn't even have one aoe.
The weird thing is EM was seen as "overpowered" before they introduced more game settings, but even if it got its old ET back, would it still be seen as overpowered considering people love to brag about doing +4x8. I doubt EM with the old ET is a great farming set. -
Quote:Mmmm... they've fixed the proc. It should only happen once every 10s and not less. It used to stack and some reported that they could trigger more than once with Concentrated Strike (I tested it but I didn't see it).I have hear so many wonderful thing of that proc place in almost any attack.
Some say AS: To have AS extreme DMG everytime
Some say tier 9 attack: to boost your dmg expotecialy
SOme say AoE: to boost your AoE critical to100%
Some say fast rechg attack: to boost your DPS
Can someone confirm one or all of this assumption?
I would like to know.
The best place to put the proc is in Assassin strike because you know your next attack won't be AS. You can follow up with a heavy hitter like Eagle Claw or an aoe like Throw Spines. It's what's AFTER it that matters. (although I am lazy and tired of keeping that 10s duration. If it happens, it happens)
And the new Assassin Strike is so good that there is little reason to not use it. If you put it in Uppercut, for example, your next attack may be a hidden attack and if you use Assassin Strike, it will be the interruptable version. It's annoying to get into interruptable version unexpectedly.
And also, a full set of Stalker Guile gives very good +recharge. It is a perfect full set for Assassin Strike IMO. I can't think of any other attack that is more suitable for the proc that won't cause interruptable AS. -
Ok, so I hit 26 last night and tried my Dire Wolf.
Not bad... but it has one big problem. His endurance usage!!!
My Dire Wolf can run low on endurance just from two fights and I don't even have 2nd upgrade.
This is a big issue. I have experience with Demon Prince, Commando and Oni. They mostly only run low on endurance with two upgrades but my Dire Wolf is low on endurance all the time at lvl 26.
Am I the only one noticing this?? Yes, I will put some -endurance in it but I don't know if 2nd upgrade will cause it using even more endurance. I just think it's a bit too much? I don't have any pet sets right now (won't get any until lvl 35) so I had to keep passing blue inspirations to it! -
Short answer yes, long answer no.
If you gain natural Hidden by not hitting or being hit for 8s, then yes, the offensive toggles are suppressed.
If you use placate after you reveal yourself, that will NOT suppress.
If you use placate during natural Hidden, that will suppress since Placate is aggro-less.
If you gain a Hidden status from Stalker Guile, that will NOT suppress either.
Technically speaking, Placate is supposed to suppress toggles but that is too hard to fix now. I've already confirmed it with A. Hawk. It is just hard to make that happen.
