  1. Energy Drain shouldn't cost 13 end. It's a bit too much IMO.

I haven't played Dual Blade on scrapper/brute/tanker but I won't be surprised if DB performs better against AV because it has follow-up type of power that you can stack. Stacking follow-up on Scrapper is so good because Scrapper's base damage is so high.

    Poor Stalkers...

And yes, Focused Strike is so slow. It is a poor attack chain. I wonder if Quick, Body and Smashing Strike is just good enough?

There was an old thread about Placate + AS. I don't remember the specifics because I think there is a pretty big difference between soloing an AV and using AS on a large team because your regular attacks have an increased chance to critical (well, most of them). For example, I think Martial Arts benefit more by not using AS on a large team because it has many heavy hitters that can critical. On the other hand, Spines should benefit a lot from AS because its heavy attacks are so slow already.

I just know when I am doing SF, I rarely use AS even on AVs. I may use it as the battle opener and that's it. It just feels so slow. I definitely don't use AS on regular bosses at lvl 50 because a lot of time, it is either overkilling (because somebody already hurt him so much) or hitting a dead body.
  4. In order to save Stalker population... I suggest Ninjitsu stay as Stalker-only set! hehe

I guess my next question is Energy Drain. I found it underwhelming on my previous Eng/Eng. I like what it does in theory, but the numbrers just don't seem to add up to much, specially the healing aspect and the animation times.

Granted, I didn't play with it too much.
Energy Drain is good. Slot it with a mix of healing/+end recovery. It's auto hit and it allows you to continue fighting most of the time. The healing part is small but it does help if you hit more than 2 targets. Don't treat Energy Drain as a 'healing" power. Just use it as +endurance and whatever healing you get is just bonus.

    - Energy Protection passive is good. Any passive with +resistance is great because it's much harder to get resistance than defense. It's a passive with 3 +resistance type. Very good.

Yeah, you don't really need Hover or Fly before lvl 22. And if you are on villain side, temp fly pack is good enough!

Edit: Slot some -end because it costs like 13 end to use it. There were times when my end was really low and when I hit Energy Drain, my toggles went off. Just a bit of -end helps a lot.
  6. Not sure why you would want Mace aoe attack. It's a very slow aoe with 32s long recharge. The only aoe attack I would take from Patron is Arctic Breath because it has -resistance but that's in Mako set.

My only reason to take Mace is for Shatter Armor and take Mace Envelop for web's -fly/-jump. Shatter Armor's redraw isn't that bad because you can't use it often anyway. It helps against hard targets.

My NW didn't take any power from patron though. My Fortunata did, Soul Mastery for Gloom and Immb.
  7. Nothing fancy. Just add Hide that provides stealth level similar to Cloak of Darkness. They did this to Stalker's Energy Aura too. Stalker's EA Kinetic and Power Shields have higher base defense than Brute's version but Brute has Energy Cloak to make up the difference. So for Scrapper's Ninjitsu, it's vice versa. Both melee and range shields have less defense but Hide adds like 3.75%.

As for having one more caltrops, overlapping powers happen quite often in patron/epic. I don't see why that is an issue. Doesn't caltrops under Weapon set has a bit longer recharge?
  8. I would advise you not take Placate at lvl 12. Take at least 3 attacks and some secondaries for survival. I don't normally take Placate until after 20s.

I've made so many stalkers and I find that taking Placate too early actually hurts my performance at early level because 1. you don't have the +recharge to use it often 2. you don't have heavy hitters to make it worthwhile 3. it's only useful when you solo which I seldom do now and having 3 attacks like Quick Strike, Body and Smashing Blow help me kill much more efficient.

If I am Martial Arts, I may take placate just because you get a heavy hitter in Axe kick so early.

But placate with AoE isn't good for AV soloing. And Placate with AS have conditions. I was wondering if Placate + Eagle Claw or Midnight or even Total Focus can increase dps a bit that's all.

But if you're just wanting something else that's worthwhile, Midnight's Grasp and Eagle Claw work. Eagle Claw after a Placate is damage scale 1.301/sec, which is higher than Storm Kick's scale 1.25/sec; outside of AS I think that's the largest improvement of any power Stalkers have.
Blah..so placate hurts dps that bad? That's one area they can improve to make it happen faster. :P
  11. By the way, instead of using Placate + AS, which Placate + Attack is more worth it? I am thinking for MA DM, Placate + Eagle Claw or Midnight is better because 1. you don't need to set up 2. no fear of placate bug.

For sets like Ninja Blade and Broadsword may not be worth it because the heaviest hitter only has 50% chance to critical.
  12. One thing I've noticed with Placate + AS on hard targets is that after placate, they sometimes run away or fly away and I have to chase the target again. It is a bit annoying. Have you noticed that?

And to be honest, I think I am more worried about Stalker's survival against a real AV than damage. Because with low health, you may get one shot.
  13. Which one would you prefer? Snap or Aim shot?

Wow, didn't know that!! I thought 7.5% is capped at x5. Damn. I need to replan my perma dom build then.
  15. You know, the #1 complaint about KM is "slow". I looked at the math and the first 3 attacks are pretty fast. I don't know if it's a bug or our eyes are deceiving. Kinetic attacks do seem slower even though it shows 1s. I think the problem is that the damage comes at the end of the animation so you feel it's slower. Power like Midnight Grasp deals damage very fast and then you are stuck in that animation for a while. The last 3 attacks are definitely slower especially if you use Focused Burst in attack chain.

I think it's ok if Kinetic does less damage because it has one of the most unique debuffs in -damage. The -damage part is quite obvious when you fight AV or even pylon. This secondary debuff alone makes Kinetic very unique and I like it. Well, I like the Stalker version.
  16. I feel Ninja and Trick Arrow don't mesh well because TA has many ways to immb/slow which benefits range characters but Ninjas run in.

Theme-wise, it sort of fits, although they should have given throwing start attacks in Ninja Set and not archery.

In terms of DPS, your AoEs do more damage, because they hit more things - although you do have to manage your KB intelligently.

I agree, I wish Solar Flare and Luminous Detonation were Knock-Down. instead.

I don't find Combat Flight to be precise or speedy enough for me, so I fight on the ground, with Combat Jumping and Hurdle as my 'movement-power'. That's what works for me, YMMV.

    Be Well!

I've been playing Dominators for a long time and I have no problem using melee/range (in fact, one of my favorite attacks is Radiant Strike!). When I say synergy, I guess I mean PB doesn't excel in any category even though he has access to many tools (including healing). An all-range human form's damage just seems too low to me. An all melee Human has mez protection problem and no psionic resistance (but this is lesser of the problem) and two aoe knocks back, not down. An aerial Human form can't use one of the better aoe attack Solar Flare. The only thing that stacks well is -defense which is probably the least important debuff in the game except when you put procs (but I've said it many times that a Primary/Secondary Set shouldn't be balanced with invention Sets in mind; hence why MM Merc needs buffs because without procs, they deal pathetic damage).

And when I look at Tanker form, WS's Dwarf just seems better. I have not really tried tri-form and as far as I can tell, both Squid forms are about the same?
  18. And Cardiac's 2nd tier has +20% Range which fits my all range-fort build even better! :P
  19. I would say Dark Melee is the best choice only because 1. you have a little self heal 2. it's a mix of dark/smashing damage (this is quite important depending on which AV you try to solo) 3. tohit debuffs helps a little. Not much..but little.

MA looks decent. You may be able to stun AVs for a while when Purple protection is down. This goes the same for Energy Melee. Actually, I am pretty sure EM can stack enough stuns on the same target.

I have a lvl 50 Dual Blade. It's too bad that they put a cool-down timer on combos so you can't chain Attack Vital consecutively. If you can, Dual Blade's attack chain could be quite good and very cheap on endurance cost.

There is, in fact, very little that can be done to get what powers Peacebringers *do* have to even Self Stack so as to be able to affect more than just Minions (yawn...) and Lieutenants (yawn...).
Yeah... basically, PB has a lot of tools but they don't synergize as well as WS. PB has two range and two melee so to deal most dps in human form, you have to melee, which I am fine with. What I really hate is Solar Flare's aoe knockback.

I was going to try Hover thinking that most of Pbs I've seen do aerial combat but then you can't use Solar Flare in air. It's like whatever I plan out, it seems to have obstacles.
  21. Polearm or Spear set should be very possible. We already have warriors throwing spears.
  22. 1. Add all appropriate Sets for Mastermind's primary pets. Ninja Oni still takes knockback set when he should be taking hold and immb sets.

    2. Give Corruptor Poison Blast set and /Poison secondary.

I think Assassin Strike doesn't scale well with higher difficulties IMO. When you first got it, you feel like "Oh yeah!!! Big damage!" You can one-shot a boss with build up and you feel like this is what Stalker is really about. It also helps that other ATs don't do this "big" damage (yet) so you feel like you have a purpose on a larger team.

But as you level higher and past lvl 38, your assassin strike doesn't have that big impact anymore and you feel like it's dragging you down by setting it up. Your Stalker is supposed to be the "threat removal" for the team but other ATs also have tools to "remove threat" just as efficiently (brutes can tank better, dominator controls better, MMs have two upgrades and more buffs/debuffs).

I haven't used my stalker in either Apex or Tin Mage. I guess I should try and see how effective Assassin Strike is. I know it won't be too effective against those pylon/hydras and possibly not too effective against all those elite bosses.
  24. One of SG mates took his Nin/Nin Stalker to Apex last week. It was pretty bad. It's bad enough to deal with so many "sword" ambushes. He has almost no time to set up Assassin Strike because of all the blue flames (and he doesn't want to risk it). Basically, a Stalker without Assassin Strike is an inferior Scrapper and using AS in attack chain actually hurts your dps especially when you try to solo an AV.

The irony is that the hardest boss is something that Stalkers can't eliminate efficiently. If you ask me, Stalker should be the best one at taking down an AV or at least contribute the most to an AV fight. The current Stalker is neither.

I just find Stalker's damage a bit low. Either that or Bane and Night Widow's damage are too high? hehe
  25. I believe it is Nerve path that gives you +defense in the 2nd tier level. I've tried it on my Bane and it is so not worth it. My Bane carries at least 3 +defense toggles and with 2nd tier, it only increases by like 2.5%.

My Bane is working on Cardiac path because the -endurance makes such a huge difference.
